The Vapourbot Awards 2007
The 25 or so greatest vapourbots of all time countdown could be done in another thread, with maybe 2 charts, 1 for most successful in terms of victories & trophies and another list for the 25 vapourbots which are good, but never seemed to win anything major.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
I did the big vapourbot awards myself years back, but i seem to remember it was a pig to administrate.
The thing is that not everyone keeps accurate records of what they have and havent won, so it would have to be done in oppinion poll. Or you could try and do it from oppinion poll AND actual title count. Its up to whoever decides to administrate.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
Eh. Theres always next year, if Im still around by then.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
I agree, it will be a pig to administrate as some of the major tournaments have been lost on the interweb.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
i think it should be an opionion poll rather than based on a track record.
How about everyone votes for their top 10/20/40/whatever vapours of all time, and whoever is hosting it collates them into the top whatever of all time. It would be hard to work out who gets how many points unless it was fixed how many you have to vote for as if people give a diffrent amount of votes it would be harder.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
I did it so people voted 10 in an order (eg. vote a 10th, 9th etc), if you just did it people vote 10 who all get a point, then it would be pretty easy.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
How about each person would vote for 15 vapourbots each (of other peoples rather than their own of course). I think 15 would give a bit more variety in the votes than 10 would. Maybe then they rank those 15 in order, with #15 earning 1 point and #1 earning 15 points etc. Then after a period of inactive voting a list is drawn up of the top 25 of all time, as an example. Then the question comes to mind, the top 25 of what? Would it be the top 25 most successful? Would it be the top 25 most original? Would it be the top 25 best designs? I think The Big Vapourbot Awards was based on coolness I seem to remember. Maybe the top 25 favourites would have to be based on a series of questions to generate a number. Lets make an example...
Robot Name:
Originality:
Weaponry Effectiveness:
Tournament Record:
Effectiveness of Drive system:
Then each sub category could be given a score out of 5 and then a grand total would make it easier to rank the best in order based on numerous things. For example, MDU would probably get 5/5 for effective weaponry and tournament record, but put the walking system in a pushing battle and it wouldnt last 5 minutes. Or maybe this would just over-complicate things... What do you think?
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
It would make it over-complicated.
Just ask something along the lines of:
In your opinion, can you rank what you think are the best 10 vapourbots of all time
Leaving it up-to the person to define what they think is the best.
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
I think Dave is right guys, the result would most likely be a cool-board, but thats fine with me
individual catogeries would be fine, but dont overdo it, we have the annual awards for that already
Originality and Weapon Effectiveness would be fine, an Effective Drive System IS a weapon IMO, so that catogery MIGHT be skipped, Tournament Record would be hard to judge, unleash we say Tournament Record as of [insert date here]
The Vapourbot Awards 2007
And some of the tournament records would have been lost for some of the older designs from the Robot-Wars Forum days.
