Sorry Martyn - its just they were the stats found in Mechanical Noise 2.
OK, after lurking around here for... roughly a year now, Ive actually made a vapourbot.
NAME- Death Threat 0.1
SHAPE- Long box with rounded back,
COLOUR- dull grey all over
WEIGHT- about 100kg
DIMENSIONS- L:95cm W:30 cm H:30cm
SPEED- 10mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0m
GROUND CLEARANCE- 10mm all over
ARMOUR- 5mm titanium
MOVEMENT- Tracks with 2XBosch Motors with 3 Ni-cad battery packs at 24 Volts
WEAPONS- Horizontal crushing claws at front made out of titanium with 4.25 tons of crushing power
SRIMECH- Invertible. Side spikes to stop it resting on its side
Feel free to yell at me if its unrealistic. Thats why Im entering really, to gain some experience and get some advice.
My real robot will be Ripper, please.
Looking good to me, Danny. The one Id say is to make Death Threat wider, more towards the 70cm mark. Those jaws cont catch much if the bots only 30cm wide.
OK, I think I might cut off the Reserve entrants at 4. Partly because I dont want to give myself too much work again - Ive got plans for other fiddly things over the holidays - and partly to get the tourny off to a start.

7) Death Threat 0.1 (Danny B)
8) Ripper (RW7)
As soon as Aaron and Matty post their stats, I can stick up the draw. :)
Like Steven said its a bit narrow, for Hydraulics you need some space anyway so you might want to go like 70-80cm, so more boxier. You will want some width anyway to be able to grab opponents. Apart from that the stats look very doable to me. The specs are not far off from Kan-opener although their Spec has more bite.
Not bad at all for a first vapour.

Bah humbug :P
And I had a new design I wanted to try out
Ok, consider it changed to 70. I cant edit it now and it seems too small a thing to repost the stats for, but I will if it would make things easier.
Ill have a render done tonight.
For now, I have the stats pretty much ironed out. A few small things might change yet, mainly to do with the weights. I havent finished the render yet, so I cannot say the weights are 100% accurate.

Name: Spyder
Weight: 141.5 KG
Size (L/W/H): 450mm x 700mm x 300mm
Speed: 8MPH
Ground Clearance: 8mm all round
Drive: Spyder has an 8 legged walking system that is based on the Spidercar system (Video: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/546941/spider_car/http://www.metacafe.com/watch/546941/spider_car/ or a smaller robot version here: http://www.nswrfc.org/video/Marayong_7_07/Gamul.wmvhttp://www.nswrfc.org/video/Marayong_7_07/Gamul.wmv) driven by 2 x LEM130 motors @ 36.3v geared 6:1, to avoid the slipping problem as shown in the videos, the legs have a pivoting foot with 40A Durometer Urethane tread bonded to it for traction. The walking system provides a stride length of 125mm per leg (Two strides per RPM, therefore 250mm travel). LEM130 RPM is ~5200RPM @ 36v, geared down 6:1 provides the leg mechanism with ~860RPM, which with the calculated leg stride, provides a nice 8MPH. Not the fastest thing on 4 wheels... I mean 8 legs, but is a good comprimise between speed and manuverability, as if the legs were sped up to around the 2000RPM mark, they would probably river dance and spend most of the time slipping and going no where (The equivelent to wheel spin :proud:)
Weapon: The weapon is a Full Body Hammer, something Ive yet to see done. This is a different approach to hammer bots, boardering closer to a thwackbot. Spyder uses 2 x LEM130s geared 20:1 to flip the middle of the body over like a hammer. Instead of just hitting with a 10kg hammer driven by an Etek (Beta was damn good at it!) Spyder hits the opponent with a body hammer in close to 35kg! This provides a lot more kinetic energy into the weapon, since the weight of the weapon motors, batteries and gearing is used as apart of the hammer weight.
Armour/Chassis: A combination of 25mm x 25mm x 3mm box section chassis, 4mm Hardox 500 front, side & rear and 3.2mm Hardox 450 base plate
Batteries: 110 x A123 LiNP cells, configured in 2 x 11S3P packs for the drive and 1 x 11S4P pack for the weapon. Produces a combined 36.3v @ 13.8AMP/Hours
Notes: Its a Walker! :proud: Can selfright via the weapon.
Rough weight Distribution - To be clarified on the completion of the CAD
Drive: 35 KG
Batteries: 8.5 KG
Armour/Chassis: 60 KG
Weapon: 35 KG
Electronics: 3 KG
Total: 141.5 KG
Aaron, you better have decent shockproofing for that nasty piece of work. :proud:
like the idea, but very flipable, yea it can self but..... if u were unlucky enough to get 2 flippers youd spend most of the time running in the air,
that said the idea is sound, its abit mechadon esq, but alot more damaging. I like the plan mate ur weights are spot on by the way but in reality it would proberbly be heavier it sounds like a massive project, but a worth while one
Can I ask about Spyder?
The way I see it is a walker, that hits things with its axe, which can cause a lot of damage because the batteries, motors and armour is all mounted on the axe?
I was just asking so I understand.
PS: WHEN CAN WE START?!!!!
