Yeah- cos ed decided he might actually try and build it himself :-p
OK then Ed,
If its that good, lets see the specs. E-mail them to me if you like. I promise they will go no further than my inbox!
The only reason you havent seen it fight is because everyone hates it. It has faught, once, but only does demos now as its too nasty. If you want to start a mines bigger game of verbal tennis Geoff, I will do it after the machine meet. only 5kj now that is an empty threat, sorry.
Stu, the flippers not finished yet, but that doesnt mean its a vapourbot. e-mail mario for confirmation its real. Likewise, enough people have seen Tantrum, its not a wooden model with silver painted trim.
I was making a point, not bragging about supposed vapourbots, if you give me, Ed, (and Geoff if hes being serious) an extra 1.6kg, you will kill the featherweight class. Its already getting stupid but it is getting towards the limits of what can be done, change the rules now and weve a long way we can go before we hit limits again.
Ill put my money where my mouth is here, give me 13.6kg and Ill put a LEM in Tantrum 2.
It aint happenin chaps, so I shouldnt concern yourself to much :)
James
We would have given you a run, and enjoyed doing it to! How about you stick Tantrum down for our Cosford event?
Sam
there is no way of making it safe to fight. The position of the link will always be inside the diameter of the disc.
The only way I can demo it is to put overloads in it so in the event of loss of control (or over eagerness on my part) it automatically blows all the fuses and dies. Not something I want to fight with. Thats why Im doing Tantrum 2, with a different arrangement allowing a centre shaft link.
I would sign it up now for Cosford Sam, but having let you down 2 years running at Enginuity I want to see it run before I sign up. If you can take an entry for undisclosed identity featherweight that may change last minute but definatly bring one of them Ill enter asap.
Tantrum is very nasty, ive expeirenced it first hand. our weapon testing box made of 1mm steel bolted onto box section took a 7 inch long tear into it and the disk was still spinning. ive fought it with venom in the Rc Wars annihilator , venom pushed it into the side wall and it coiled over the 4mm steel spike whilst popping the a weld in Venoms cheek. and thats hardened steel. Both of these tests were done on 12v thats quarter power.
Although haveing these new super weapons is pushing the boudry. i think it has to stop and soon. RR have events almost every few weeks. if robots get seriously damaged every event people will ask whats the piont. super weapons will kill off the featherweights class, its just a matter of when.
James, you dont happen to have a few pictures of Tantrum that you can send me? Being a foreigner, Ive only heard about Tantrum, never seen it.
James,
Oh, Im serious. But I just find it a little strange that anyone would build a machine that, by there own admission is not safe.
Our machine is built, ready to run, has been tested in combat and is fully FRA compliant.
Personaly, I am more than happy with 12Kg, the whole question of 13.6Kg was only a discusion for one event only, the FRA World Championship, to make life a little easier for the US feathers to compeat. but as Sam has stated it will not now happen. Also according to the Featherweights.org poll a majority of teams want to stay at 12Kg.
To echo Sam, bring it to Cosford, and lets see it run. If you are that confident that it can do the business, put it in the arena with Scorpion Jr. one on one. (That OK with you Sam?)
