12mm could be thick enough. Depends on the design of your gearbox though I guess.
hmm might have a try at belt drive as eric uses them i belive.
Its like you're psychic...

the mass of electronics, think there might be a problem with the interface, it isn't lighting up when the 6v is put into it :?
Hmm, the interface was lighting up and some lights were flashing when Jamie and I used them last, and we just copied Terry's diagram. I'm trying to think what to suggest.... Do you have any photos of it fully wired up? Might help to spot problems that way.
ill have a go but apart from adding a female futaba lead to the screw terminals, i havent changed it atall.
worst case i have to get a new interface, where could i get one from?
thanks
anything imediate that you can see is wrong?

The lack of a chassis, wheels and armour?
i mean with the escs  :P
need to order myself some sprockets, chain and gears before anything is moving.
kwik kwestion: where is the low voltage thingy on the 4qds, cant seem to find it
What voltage you running your test on? I think I remember reading that they only work on 24 or 36v. Also you need to power the control board, 6v I think.
they've come from scotland, have you checked there are no deep fried mars bars stuck in there? :P
i was running 24v and using a 6v rx battery, i think the problem is that it might be set to the 36v mode, looked though the manual and it said how to do it, but i cant find the bit to do it on.
that made little sense
I see. maybe it needs to come apart to do that, a lot of the controls are in the sandwiched part so to speak.
The only came out of the box in Scotland for about an hour before they went back in, they weren't ever gonna fit in Eric, so we kept our deep frier elsewhere. If we had fried them they would have probably broken, and everyone knows the thing a true Scotsman likes more than deep fried things its being a tight fisted B£$%^&
makes sense. also, there is like a fuse holder on the escs, does there need to be a fuse in there for them to work?
if you ever send anything to me tony please include 1-2 deep fried mars bars (they are hard to find in england)
told you we should have got that deep fat fryer i found in tescos!
You dont need a fuse, thats for if the fuse tracks blow. you dont switch them between 24/36v, they just work on either. I would suggest getting hold of a different interface, as that one (Ian Swann one) is no longer made, and you cant get the info on them. You can get a simple plug and play one from 4qd.
masive thanks mate, cheers :)
They're even harder to find in Peru, but that's where I tried one for the first time. Just mix some flour and water to make your batter, fill a pan full of oil, dunk your Mars Bar in the batter then put it in the pan for a minute or two. Seemples :)Quote:

Might be worth pre-booking an ambulance beforehand, in order to take you to hospital to get your arteries un-clogged and heart restarted once you've eaten it
I've never actually tried one Jonny  . I can imagine though that it would be best to eat it shortly after it was made rather than have it sitting in the post for a few days, I reckon it would be like buying fish and chips from the chippy and leaving it for a few days under the bed then tucking in a few days later
nowt wrong with that :PQuote:

go kart wheel
thanks
Well if the motor spins at 3000 rpm at 24 volts it should spin about 4500rpm if it can take the extra voltage, and go kart wheels are geniraly between 30-40cm, so if you wanted about 10-12 mph of speed then I would go with a 10:1 gear ratio.
rule of thumb, go for gear reduction the same inches diameter for your wheel. for example 12 go kart wheels = 12:1 reduction. heres a useful calculator aswell:

Merry christmas,
*insert generic Christmas picture here*
Me and harry did a lot of work on my new fw today Omen previously savage evo. Got it driving now. I've also begun work on the weapon gearbox, I've removed the motors and stripped it down. Now just to clean it and put it back together.
Pictures to come, I think Harry has a video of it driving as well .
i got loads of pics, shall i share with the group?
Sure

Ah so that's who it went to :)
Will it be putting in an appearance at the next UK champs? I'm hoping it does, as I've got unfinished business with it
defo! :D
*taps fingers together like Mr. Burns*
Excellent 8)
btw, here's a picture of the dismantled gearbox:

It has seen some use.
But perfectly refurbishable. I have to admit, was fun making it. And, I think the 2 speed 900's are perfectly replacable with 2 nice Brushless motors.
Tiny Toon is looking forward to seeing it again, having already retired it once
