I suspect that your vids link has been promoted on some other pages ...or people have mistaken it for the real big dog walker.

About Theo Jansen (TV MAN UNION From JAPAN)
Hi, I am Chiaki Hashimura of TV MAN UNION, INC, one of the leading TV program production companies in Japan. The purpose of this e-mail is to ask your permission to introduce your work uploaded through YOU TUBE regarding Theo Jansen link, in our documentary program.
We are now producing a documentary of Theo Jansen, which is scheduled to be broadcast on January 1st by NHK BS-Hi, the largest and the only public TV station in Japan. In our program, Theo commented that one of the weak points of sand beast as creature is that they are not able to propagate by themselves. At the same time, however, he is impressed that many people around the world came to be expressing their beasts through internet. We think it might be a way of propagating, and that is why we reached to the idea of showing your work in the program.
We cannot tell that we will introduce your work certainly, for now, but we would like to know if you agree to our concept, and give permission for use for free. It is very nice of you if you could send a reply to me. My e-mail address is as follows;
Best regards,
Chiaki Hashimura

Not wanting to digress on Shane's Full Tilt Build thread, I thought I would keep the conversation on the Pilgrim thread.
The type of Dinosaur I was thinking was a mechanical (eight legged) Long necked and long tail type I think a Brontosaurs
I like the Idea Of having a mechanical version of a dinosaur that in truth didn't exist. :proud:
The major problem I have is trying to get the neck and tail movement so they curl up, down, left and right. I am planning to have a small head with movement rotate up, down, left and right, and the moth to open and close the eyes will be just lights.
I am trying out several ideas for the neck mechanism but think I will have to invent something.
try a cable and pulley system that pulls the tail and neck in place, have the actuators mounted in the neck and tail, they can be positioned to push against the lower vertebra to actuate the limbs, animate the head with servos
thats how I'd do it
Finished the feet at last! well nearly :uhoh: I looked at the robot and decided not to do the dinosaur I am thinking of two horses instead I don't like horses but the robot seems to fit them better.
You should make it into a roman style chariot
