1: Traffic Warden could although the clamp would only be a few inches in at best.
Venus Fly Trap wouldnt work because there is simply too much weight on the front that you cannot compensate at the back.
2: a Lem 130 for the pump at 36V on traffic Warden.
Marti to the rescue!

please note the black... bits on the left and right hand side, theyre mounted stiffly on the main body, and I reckon with extensions like that the weapon WILL work without toppling over
It would, but then you would need to make those extensions longer. And they would be pretty vunerable.
Properly designed DC motors all work the same way, this page describes them very well
http://micromouse.cannock.ac.uk/motors/motorequations.htmhttp://micromouse.cannock.ac.uk/moto...requations.htm
Basically maximum motor output power is at half the no-load speed, without a massive amount of cooling all high power motors will go up in smoke after a few seconds at that rate. If you know the rpm/volt and DC resistance of the motor then you can calculate the maximum power output you can get, usually alot less than people here think.
Thanks Mark, very useful site.
Time for a comedy bot, well sort of

Hows this?
INFERNO
€ WEIGHT: 100kg.
€ ARMOUR: 10mm Titanium on top and bottom, with 6mm Weldox plating around the sides. It also has 1 Inch worth of PU Foam, 1cm of Vulkalon rubber and 0.5cm of PU foam in between each of the motors to stop it self-destructing. All of the armour is curved over so no panels can be torn.
€ SHAPE: Low cylinder shape.
€ MOTORS: 2 x S28-150 MagMotors at 24V = 6HP
€ LOCOMOTION: 4 x 30mm diameter Vulkalon treaded tyres.
€ DIMENSIONS: (L) 90CM (W) 90CM (H) 10CM
€ COLOUR: Black on top and bottom, with flames going around the outer rim. The disc is natural Hardox colour, with the name €˜INFERNO€™ in fire colours.

The teeth reached out 6cm, and are bent at the end to come down to a high of 8cm, and therefore, it can strike low down. The disc is powered by 2 x S28-400 MagMotors at 36V, and get up to 2500rpm in the space of 2-2.5 seconds, and 140kj is the output achieved.
€ SPEED: 10MPH
€ GROUND CLEARANCE: 4mm all the way around.
€ STRENGTH: Powerful weapon and strong armour.
€ WEAKNESS: No self-righter.

The teeth reached out 6cm, and are bent at the end to come down to a high of 8cmSo, in other words, they only bend down 2cm? Flippers would love that. :proud: Also, I dont think you need the 10mm top plating if you have a disc on top of it.
Other than that, good. :)
Yeah,no point in such a thick plate if you got an 8mm hardox disc over it.:)
So Kody, is it possible that if I thin the top to 5mm Titanium and make it bend down to a height of 3cm, I could replace D.V.D: The Sequel in C&B 3 with Inferno?
Also, can you do a render of it please?
Whoa, slow down, Paul. :P
First, I dont think youll really need much armour on top...3mm titanium sounds good. And 7cm of clearance between the blades and the ground is still pretty bad because most flippers would get under the body before being hit by the blades.
Replacing D.V.D., sure. But only if you improve Inferno.
And rendering? Im kinda busy updating my house bot squad with renders ATM. :P
(Message edited by kodster on August 05, 2008)
I meant 3cm FROM the ground :proud:
Then put that instead of bend down to a height of, you silly git. That makes me think the blades are 3cm down from the disc. :proud:

Samuel, you should have posted these here first instead of posting them in C&B3...meh, Ill have a look.
Fatality - 1kg Hardox teeth seem rather small. Id reduce the weight of the shell by taking off about a mm of Hardox and make the teeth bigger...say...3kg. Also, how many kg is the single CO2 tank?
Axetra - 4kJ of force...your axe is going to die. :proud: Beta could hardly manage 3kJ and that was with magnets on metal floors...seriously lower it, at least by half. Terrorhurtz has like 500J of force in its own axe...maybe more, and look what it can do.
Mad Dash - You dont need a monocoque for the scoop. Do you know what a monocoque is? Think about that before you include it. Also...5mm titanium for the base? What about the rest of the armour?
V.ENO.M. - James Cooper has taken the name, actually. Venom, as far as I know, is a clone of Razer. Name aside, tracks are always a weak spot no matter how strong they are. Also, I doubt youll have IMMENSE pushing power with S28-400s, but whatever. :proud:
Ramminator - You state a sawblade on a wedge, when you shape says you have a box with a scoop in front. I see no wedge. :proud: Also, whats Asmaprene urethane? Care to explain?
Bubonic Plague aka Black Death 2 - Might be a bit optimistic with the amount of weaponry on there, and the power. Again, whats with the immense pushing power if youre running S28-400s? :lame: And no side ground clearance?
Walk Don€™t Run 3€˜n a half - Uh...again, tell us what this lovely Asmaprene is, and why you associate insane pushing power with S28-400s, please.
Paralyzation 2 - More Asmaprene...explain. And a great pusher. Again, tell us how. 3.5mm ground clearance might make you less manoeuvrable, so Id raise that.
And thats all I have to say on the matter for now. :proud:
Asmaprene Urethane rubber: more stronger type of urethane rubber, they provide excellent grip on all arena surfaces and are especially designed to be resistant to oil spills and other debris on the arena floor.
And where did you find this info? Link or Im not keen on believing it. :)

If you see anything wrong with THAT, please let me know.
I saw it on AJs forum.
So? You can at least provide an accurate link to the page where you saw it. :P

Right, then perhaps AJ can explain what this wonderful Asmaprene upgrade to urethane is, unless Leo would like to clarify?
And you didnt change Bubonic Plague at all? The weaponry kind of makes it overweight, and theres still no side ground clearance...well?

Right...
Rough weight check on Bubonic Plague:
Armour/chassis (plus extension, minus flipper) = ~40kg
Motors = 6.2kg
Batteries = 7.2kg
Wheels and gears and stuff = ~10kg
Flipper (including power and mechanics) = ~12.5kg
Disc (including power and mechanics) = ~20kg
Everything else = ~10kg
By my (very bad) calculations, you are overweight by about 6.2kgs. :proud:
If anyone wants to step in and clarify/correct me...?

Google is your friend.
Basically it is a derivative of Polyurethane.

Rough weight check on Bubonic Plague:
Armour/chassis (plus extension, minus flipper) = ~40kg
Motors = 6.2kg
Batteries = 7.2kg
Wheels and gears and stuff = ~10kg
Flipper (including power and mechanics) = ~12.5kg
Disc (including power and mechanics) = ~20kg
Everything else = ~10kg
By my (very bad) calculations, you are overweight by about 6.2kgs.

With all the ~s youre using in this weight check its hardly fair to boldly state the robot will about 6 kgs off in your conclusion. If for every ~ you used your guess is about 1 kg off the robot suddenly is underweight
Paul, I had a look at Inferno on ZED earlier and couldn€™t help but notice some things I wanted to point out. First of all, is all the shock proofing really that necessary? 4cm of rubber seems to be a little bit over the top, even if you are trying to survive 140kJ of impact. 6mm Weldox might be pushing it slightly, but as nobody else has commented on that, you€™re probably fine. My next problem is that you are claiming due to the curving of the panels, the armour cannot be torn. Remember that nothing is impossible... Next up is the 30mm wheels - I am presuming this is a typo? I€™m pretty sure there are antweights with bigger wheels than that. Onto the disc€¦ why is it so thick? Also, €œteeth non-attached teeth€ doesn€™t make a lot of sense to me. :proud: Did you run the spinner through the Kinetic Energy Calculator to get these figures? As always though, you€™ve come up with a nice idea.
Asmaprene€¦ I€™ve been using it on Exertion for several months now with no complaints. As you can see, it does exist and it is just a variant of rubber, which I decided to introduce as an alternative to Vulkolan. It seems that Samuel noticed and decided he wants to use it too. As you can see on the website, it has €œhigh resistance to grease, oil and hydrolysis and mechanical impact€ and €œexcellent adhesion to metal€Â. Basically, Asmaprene and Vulkolan are quite similar. I believe Mechaniac once used Asmaprene, so it has been tested in robot combat before.
Ben, your robo-zoo is wonderful. :) That is all.
Im assuming that non-attached teeth are like the teeth on The 6isc, where the teeth are simply part of the discs shape rather than welded on.
Thanks about the concept. Its actually an evolution (in my eyes) of Tornado Mer - a low robot, with a spinning bar on top. The bar was powerful, but discs always seemed to be better than bar spinners, so I put a disc on top and called it Inferno :proud:
A number of things I need to get right, so Im going to set them right here for everyone.
When I said, the armour is curved to avoid panels being torn, I didnt mean torn as in cut, I meant torn as in torn off - Its an idea being used by Frank on Masamune as the armour is a large sheet of 6mm Hardox curved over the whole body, so the armour cant just be removed panel by panel. I meant that the 6mm Weldox circumference is 1 panel, so it cant be torn off.
About the padding, I said 1 Inch of PU foam, 1cm of Vulkanised Rubber, and it has 0.5cm of PU foam between each motor, so the motors arent shock-killed.
About the teeth, I meant that the teeth were part of the disc (which is 8mm thick Hardox for durability) so the teeth cant be torn off. Frank is using it on The 6isc, but the main reason I did that is that is weve all heard of the Mauler dance :proud: and I didnt want to risk Inferno loosing a tooth and doing that mad dance.
The wheels are now increased in size to 60mm in diameter - the robot is very small, at 100mm in height, so I cant a wheels equal in size to even Terrorhurtz - he has 130mm wheels, but is 80cm tall, thats why the wheels look so small - but hopefully, Ive gone through all the original faults and corrected them for you all :proud:
That has cleared up a lot of my concerns, thanks.
I€™m still not sure about all the internal rubber, but that€™s your decision. However the description of the disc and teeth is now much more clear. I used that idea on Aneurysm a few years ago. I still think a thickness of 8mm for the disc is a bit much. You could get all the durability you need and save a load of weight by just using 4mm Hardox, in my opinion. At 60mm, I still think the wheels are on the small side, but at least it€™s an improvement on 30mm. The only other thing is that the ground clearance is slightly too low for my liking.
But apart from my general nitpicking, I like it. :)
Is it me or did Kody have low bloodsugar this morning? He comes accross a bit cranky in his posts.
However:

And no mention of gas bottles.
You think that his last post was cranky Leo? He called me a silly git! I havent been called a name as bad as that since I went on my school break :proud:
Ah but Paul, did he call you that or did he use his deduction skills to come to that conclusion?
