Which town does the eel want to go to?
The eel wants to go to a town called Singsong, which is about 9 miles away across the mountains. It is both high-tech and high-magic, but very small, only a few hundred residents.
Well, Im sold. Handsome reward + possibility of getting some tech or magic = win. Ill get one of the ice walkers, anyone who wants to join me has until Alex decides to post the next move to say so:proud:
i will join you frank i need some action with the new minigun and all. damn blast i really wanted that islayer but at least i get to play with it. Brutus asks ferri to join the quest. might let you have a go on my gun but i doubt you could handle the size of it. dont worry Brutus will look after you. or will it be the other way round

Just to let everyone know, Im going on holiday for ten days on thursday afternoon, so there will be a gap where nothing happens, Ill try and leave you all somewhere where you can get on with stuff while Im gone.

Brutus will just plough through the snow using enhanced vision to keep an eye on things. minigun on stand by.
Dirge will follow the group.
Ferri will follow along as well, though she will refuse to go into any hotel rooms or back seats. Shes not *that* friendly. :p

Eh, assuming the Arm-ory is now mine, Tarein will follow as well, I guess, and if anything heavy gets in the way, lift it out of the way. :proud:
Just to say, Im back and the Oddestsey will resume in the next few days after I finish entires to a few art competitions.

Anyway... quick update....
All members of the party (with their new items) and the eel gather at the ice-walkers, and set off. The magic fish bequeaths the Baron a magic stone, which, if he throws it into another river will allow him to ask his remaining question(s - I cant remember offhand, Ill check when I sort out the stats) but it can only be used once.
The walkers make slower progress over the thicker snow, and at night they light up with neon lighting to deter shadows, although the eerie hissing in the undergrowth reminds them of the presence and makes sleep difficult. Eventually however, on autopilot the party do dose off.
However, they are woken up by alarms - ahead of them is a figure in the headlights, it is human in shape but moves strangely as if it only knew how humans moved from watching, it wears a huge great coat and appears to have a cut out photo of a face tied over its face with an old elastic band. It seems confused and slightly worried, and its movements suggest it doesnt actually seem to use its eyes to see. Despite being in two huge spider-like robots less than ten meters away with lights shining on it, it doesnt seem to notice you.
Brutus jumps of with minigun ready and smart link laser beam on the figure,fingers twitching. uses enhanced vision to look for heat signature and if there are any others in the near area. not sure what else to do and hopes one of his friends has an idea before it eats minigun

Im gonna stay in the vehicle for now and tell Brutus to talk with the... man
While Brutus is talking with the whatever he is, I intend to search around in my pockets to find some serious weapons.
Cerberus is at attention and Dirge is at the ready with his trusty shovel.
Frank shuffles around in his pocket a couple of times producing a strong chainmail sack filled with avacados, a weighty wrought iron totem to some tentacle faced god with mother of pearl inlay and a small blue tree frog. Further searching reveals a small grenade like device with the words legal bombshell etched into its surface, along with some illegible smallprint.
Meanwhile Brutus and Dirge approach the strage man - he moves weirdly, as if its got a human shap but has made up its own way of moving in it. The body rotates round strangely, almost as if the head and shoulders lag behind the rest of the body as it distorts slightly.
Behind its card mask are two glass eyes which seem to move but not with any pattern, then it speaks in a manner of someone who has read about speech but not ever done it themselves...
I/we am lost, can you take me to the king/president/chief it pauses briefly in the manner of someone trying to remember a lesson in the distant past...
Can you take me/us to them? in a way that seems tinged with pleading.
Brutus doesnt like this figure and is itching to squeez the trigger. but before he does he tries his enhanced vision to see if he can detect any heat or any other strange movement. might be a trap.
i will leave the talking to dirge it seems more his field of expertise
Brutus looks around, and sees nothung that he hasnt seen before... however, looking atthe figure itself, behind the mask and coat it seems to be made up of millions ants operating a plastic skeleton...
I/we are.... Anton.... can you help us/me? it implores?

After that, if this sack came from Morrisons then only one avocado is edible. I intend to find that one avocado and eat it.
Ferri is curious about Anton, and wants to know what Anton wants exactly.
Sorry about the delay:
When questioned Anton begins to tell him sotry is his strange mode of speech. He doesnt deny being what he is, he infact claims to be the ambassador for all ants, sent to the king after years of preparation to let him know they where alive and wanted peace against what they saw as mass genocide of people by stepping on, poisoning and pouring boiling water on their nests.
It would seem that it was hot, then very cold would signify he has infact fallen from his world and is now in this one, unable to complete his mission.
There is no real solution to this problem, and you get the feeling that he would have trouble understanding the concept of the multiversee in his current stressed state, so its probably not worth trying to explain right now.
Chapter 7
Even as everyone contemplates their next move, a strange sound echoes across the wilderness...
It sounds like some a strange mixture of sounds, like the song of a huge nightingale intertwined with a rich male baritone voice, singing in some ancient tongue that defies any translation, and the wind itself... There is something about the song that is both indescribably beautiful yet chills those who hear it to the bone.
The temperature suddenly drops sharply in the already frigid forest... Even the skittish shadows that lurk in the gloom seem to vanish and the skies cloud over.
Now joining in the enchanting song from above, the chanting of deep earthy voices seems to emanate from every direction in the forest... almost daring those who hear it to move towards them...
The eel looks terrified, and upon questioning he tells you why. Someone out here in the wilderness has been marked for the death by someone powerful and rich enough to employ the mercenary Thawlings - the so called Winter Elves. They are stronger, faster and more reisilient than humans, they dont get tired and when their method of hunting is to surround the area their quarry is in and kill every single sentient being within... just to be sure...
The drums grow louder..
Not seeming to understand but still looking agitated Anton barely seems to react.
dunno about anyone else but Brutus wants to arm up and rumble. this minigun needs a good testing and this seems to be the time. gets hold of ferri and asks if she would stand behind him for eyes to the rear. anyone else up for a rumble :)
wired reflexes for x10 reactions and speed ready too by the way :)
Yeah Dirge can use the exercise, his dead muscles are starting to get stiff from the inactivity (or is ir rigor mortis? :) ).
Ferris in. Shell go stand behind Brutus, because she liked his idea, and ready the iSlayer. :)
