After that ad break, we€™re back with the final of Heat C:
Turbo Shredder v Cyclone Force 3
Let€™s flashback and see how these two hard as nails competitors made it this far:
In the first eliminator Cyclone Force 3 and Storm II flipped Obsidian, which could not self-right.
In the second Turbo Shredder was at first shoved around by Monolith, but came back strongly and damaged Scaramanga II€™s flipper rams.
In the first heat semi-final we witnessed the biggest shock of the series so far, when the number #5 seed Storm II lost a JD to Turbo Shredder by just three points!
In the second Monolith took on Cyclone Force 3, but was blown away by the gale force winds and pitted.
I€™m here in the pits now with both vapourboteers as we load up the entry bullpen!
Me: Hey Samuel, going good so far, huh?
Sam: Very well, I didn€™t expect to take Storm II out.
Me: You€™re the first person to defeat a seed so far, how does that make you feel?
Sam: Great and I€™m hungry for more damage!
Me: What setup will be seeing here Chris?
Chris: I€™m sticking with the scoop here, you€™ve already seen it, but it€™s effective.
Me: We€™ve seen the lifter and the scoop, what else might we see later in the series if you prevail here?
Chris: There are a pair of spikes that could cause some serious damage, but maybe they won€™t come out to play in this tournament, especially if I lose here!
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now it€™s back to the coliseum where battle is about to commence!

SMASH!!
And we€™re off! It€™s Cyclone Force immediately on the attack, getting underneath the front of Turbo Shredder and ramming it across the arena, into the arena wall! Both robots actually have the same drive power, but the scoop on the front of Cyclone Force 3 is allowing Chris to get in underneath and push Turbo Shredder around while not letting Samuel spin up! And Chris shows this now, ramming Turbo Shredder again across the arena and this time onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Turbo Shredder is thrown onto its back, but Samuel€™s seed beating machine is invertible and finally spins up to slam into Cyclone Force! Chris spins away, but immediately recovers and comes on the attack again, getting underneath once more and slamming Turbo Shredder into the wall so hard it flies sideways and chews into the floor with the disc! And still Cyclone Force is aggressive, pushing in underneath Turbo Shredder from the side and shoving Samuel across the arena again and onto the Killsaws once more! BZZT! Turbo Shredder isn€™t flipped this time, but bounced away onto Cyclone Force, who pushes Samuel away across the arena and into the pit release button! The siren wails and the chasm descends, giving the drivers another worry- a big hole in the floor! And now it€™s Turbo Shredder on the attack, whacking into the scoop of Cyclone Force with the disc, but doing nothing except driving onto the scoop, which allows Chris to slam it across the arena once more, crashing into the wall on the opposite side! Turbo Shredder tries to escape, but Chris gets underneath and pins it against the wall for a few seconds before releasing Samuel, who drives away only to be slammed from behind by the aggressive Cyclone Force, who now shoves Samuel€™s spinning disc into the Killsaws! BZZT! And Turbo Shredder is flipped onto Cyclone Force 3 again, and this time Chris drives it hard up against the barrier yet again! Samuel is really feeling the pain now, and finally gets a bit of breathing space as Samuel drives away from its ramming opposition, only to yet again get pushed from behind and get pushed all the way across the arena and up against the already-pressed pit release button! And as Cyclone Force gets underneath Turbo Shredder drives off the top, only to get pushed around in a wide arc so that the two machines are now playing a deadly dance of death right next to the pit! And it€™s Chris that finally makes use of that chasm, getting underneath Turbo Shredder one last time and giving one last almighty shove to drop Samuel into the pit and out of Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged! .
CEASE!
Turbo Shredder didn€™t do any shredding, and Cyclone Force 3 blows the rest of the heat away to go through to the series semi-finals!
Next time, on Robot SMASH!!, we will witness the return of Steven McGregor€™s second series 1 finalist, the number #7 seed Whirligig 4.5!
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4 v Stealth
Whirligig 4.5 (7) v Eternia v Nightmare
Don€™t miss it!
Restating tactics...
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4 v Stealth
Chris, shall we treat Stealth to a tour of the arena hazards? :proud:
Ill go for Whirligig to take out Nightmare before Eternia can really get involved.
As for Stealth...wait, watch for my moment to attack at close range, and remain extremely optimistic :P
ORKAS TACTICS
Yeah, what the hey?
Sorry theses fights are so short, but you can hardly blame me with these line-ups:proud:
Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where Heat D is about to start! The story of this series so far has seen the number #1 seed Wedge Devolution prevail in Heat A, the number #3 seed Supreme Glory Omega get the glory in Heat B and the unseeded Cyclone Force 3 won Heat C after Turbo Shredder defeated the number #5 seed Storm II.
Here€™s the round 1 line-up.
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4 v Stealth
Whirligig 4.5 (7) v Eternia v Nightmare
Eliminator 1
Created and entered by Kody Kunz, Macduff the 3rd!
Like Knyfe and Cyclone Force 3 seen in the previous heats this robot can select from a choice of weaponry, and is a powerful rammer. It€™s more powerful than Cyclone Force 3, and equal to that of Knyfe, and for this match Kody has chosen to use the lifting spikes that can work both ways up.
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Created and entered by Christopher Mason, Orka MK.4!
This very interesting concept is a Behemoth-shape robot with a scoop, but instead of an axe Orka uses a Mantis-style claw to grapples opponents. When lifted and grabbed robots will find it hard to escape, and the six wheel drive helps to shove robots around the arena as well.
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Built by Team Stealth, entered by Joey McConnell, Stealth!
This is a robot seen in the third series of robot wars. It has a front flipper and a rear circular saw, but in the wars it was shredded by Hypno-Disc early on and the flipper did nothing against Death Warmed Up in round 1.

SMASH!!
The fourth heat of Robot SMASH!! 2 gets underway- gosh, doesn€™t time fly when you€™re having fun? And Kody looks to be having fun in this bout, ramming Stealth from the side and lifting it with the spikes! Joey spins the saw and activates the flipper, but cannot escape and Macduff continues to push him around, dumping him on the Killsaws! BZZT! Stealth is thrown sideways onto Orka, who clamps it and lifts Joey into the air while Kody presses the pit release button! The siren wails and Orka drops Stealth into the pit after just 11 seconds of the match has passed!
CEASE!
The shortest fight of the series so far, lasting just over 10 seconds! Macduff the 3rd and Orka MK.4, they go through to round 2!
We now go to the pits, where Joey is hoisting Stealth into the skip.
Me: Did that go as well as you expected?
Joey: Much better, I expected to last 5 seconds with this crummy realie.
Me: We€™ll have your vapour debut in the next heat anyway though.
Joey: Yeah, hopefully I€™ll do better then.
Eliminator 2
Created and entered by Steven McGregor, the number #7 seed, Whirligig 4.5!
Last year this robot was extremely impressive, destroying a load of tough opponents to get to the finals. It€™s one of the most powerful (not to mention successful) vapour FBS€™ ever, dishing out 183Kj per hit and causing maximum damage with those 9 pussycat style teeth on the ring, which spins at 1500rpm.
In RS!!1: Destroyed With or Without You in the eliminator, then sent Tira III packing in round 2. The heat final looked like it would be tough, with The May Tracks Has You sporting those spikes to damage the feet, but Steven knocked out the link and it was bye bye to May Tracks as Whirligig went whirling on to the finals, where it all went downhill. Whirly was thrown out of the competition by ISDSFA, and in the play-off was the first robot to be eliminated when Seung Mina IV wanted her revenge.
Created and entered by Leo Van Miert, Eternia!
This powerful flipper really packs a punch, with power similar to that of Gravity in Robot Wars series 7. But the question is whether Eternia will enjoy eternal success or will the low pushing power mean an eternity of loss?
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Built by a guy called Jim and the rest of the team, entered by Samuel Park, Nightmare!
This huge vertical spinner is a veteran of Battlebots, and despite being an excellent competitor and almost always doing well it never made it passed the quarter-finals, partly due to it being so unstable and having exposed wheels, a weakness exploited by Warhead in season 5.0.

Nightmare and Whirly are quick to start spinning up, and Eternia looks quite happy to stay out of the way for the time being while the two spinners size each other up. Whirly starts coming towards Nightmare, but Samuel has a change of heart and turns around to hit Eternia, throwing Leo up and over onto his back! Leo is startled, but quickly self-rights and rams Nightmare and throws Samuel high into the air, but Nightmare lands on its wheels, one of which is quickly detached by Whirligig! That was unexpected and Nightmare will surely not be happy about that! And for extra revenge Eternia comes in on the wheel-less side and throws Nightmare up and over onto its back! Steven grins maniacally and moves in again, tearing a large chunk out of Nightmare and sending it flying, and Samuel lands right up against the arena wall, still upside down! Samuel€™s disc wasn€™t spinning when Nightmare was thrown, and now it can€™t spin so Eternia goes in again and finishes the job by launching Nightmare clear of the arena and onto the camera tracks!
CEASE!
Another quick battle, that one lasting just 18 seconds!
I€™m here in the pits now with Samuel!
Me: Nightmare started well, but it turned into a bit of a nightmare for you, didn€™t it?
Sam: Yeah, once the wheel was gone I was open to attack from Eternia, who I attacked at the beginning.
Me: The disc didn€™t really cause much damage to Eternia, why was that?
Sam: I didn€™t really get it a very good angle, only a good enough hit to flip it.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s see the round 2 draw!
Macduff the 3rd v Eternia
Whirligig 4.5 (7) v Orka MK.4
We€™ll be back right after the break, hope fully with battles that will last a little longer!
(Message edited by Robot_Warrior on May 31, 2008)
Very good fights Liam, but this Whirligig only produces 100kj of energy, not 183kj :proud:
:P Good fights Liam, as always.
I actually thought Stealth was a good concept in general, I designed Interceptor (which suffers from my curse of me posting things in the improving thread and them being totally ignored) to be like Stealth was if it were...actually good. Or something like that :proud:
Ill go for Macduff and Whirligig to make the final here.
Macduff the 3rd vs. Eternia
Eternia - bah, its just another flipper. :proud: Keep the lifting forks here and slide another that flipper, try and get something stuck on the forks and carry him to the pit.
Robot SMASH!! Is back, so let€™s get going into round 2 of this exciting heat!
If you missed part 1 of this episode, Macduff the 3rd and Orka MK.4 overcame Stealth and the number #7 seed Whirligig 4.5 ripped a wheel off Nightmare and Eternia flipped it onto the camera tracks.

SMASH!!
Macduff is using the spikes again for this bout, will that move pay off or will Kody€™s rammer get beheaded? Well, it€™s a good start for Mr. Kunz anyway, getting in underneath the side of Eternia, lifting and ramming Leo into the side wall! Macduff pins Leo for a moment, then let€™s go and Eternia gets underneath the front and throws Macduff onto its back! But Kody is invertible and turns around to face Eternia with the spikes again, but too slow and Macduff flies head over heels again! Kody drives away sulkily, and then turns to try a different tactic, ramming in and just getting the one spike under the side of Eternia, then lifting and using the two to roll Eternia onto its back! Leo quickly self-rights, but Macduff attacks from the front, getting the spikes into the flipper workings and ramming Eternia into the arena wall! Leo looks worried, and it seems that one of the flipper rams maybe damaged! We€™ll find out later on if Macduff has damaged that ram, but for now Eternia seems to be OK as Leo gets underneath again and throws Kody onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Macduff is thrown over, and Eternia attacks again, flipping Macduff over and pushing Kody back onto the Killsaws again! BZZT! Macduff is thrown over, then gets its spikes underneath Eternia and lifts Leo up onto his back! Eternia fires the flipper and rights itself, but Macduff rams in underneath the flipper again and this time Eternia starts venting gas when they hit the wall! It€™s been severely damaged on the inside, and the co2 supply has been ruptured! Leo is in real trouble now, and just before the co2 runs out he closes the flipper, but that€™s all he can do, the flipper isn€™t working now and Eternia€™s lack of pushing power won€™t help it! And Kody clearly wants to exploit that weakness, pushing Eternia onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Leo is tipped sideways, but stays on his feet and Macduff attacks again, lifting Eternia and pinning Leo against the arena wall! If the wall hadn€™t been there Eternia would have rolled onto its back, but Leo has been lucky this time and quickly runs away when Macduff releases him. And now Kody heads up the arena and lifts Eternia from behind, then goes into a rush and slams Leo into the pit release button! That could signal that the bout is coming to an end, as Eternia has been pushed around so much that surely now Kody will want to push Eternia into the pit? It seems so, as he keeps Eternia in the air and drags Leo towards the pit, slowly, slowly.... Their almost there, and now Macduff manoeuvres into a position where one side of Eternia is over the pit. He reverses away, then goes around and gets under the other side of Eternia with those forks for the last time. The forks go up, Eternia goes over and Macduff the 3rd goes through to the heat final!
CEASE!
We now talk to Leo in the pits.
Me: Another round 2 loss... I expected Eternia to go further.
Leo: I had certainly hoped it would, just got to keep my fingers crossed for the heats that lie ahead now.
Me: That€™s the way to look at it, and Macduff is a rambots after all, and Eternia doesn€™t like them, does it?
Leo: Its drive isn€™t as powerful as most Vapourbots, so it could get shoved around a lot, like it just did.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now it€™s back to the coliseum for the other heat semi-final!

SMASH!!
Whirligig starts spinning up as Orka heads across the arena floor, Whirly looking particularly menacing as it shuffles across the arena to meet Orka, and the two collide with Whirly at full speed! But Orka deflects the attack with the scoop and then clamps Whirligig with the claw and hoists it into the air with the scoop! Immediately Steven has gone from comfortable to a situation of perilous danger and Chris carries him across the arena to the pit release! But he hits the button too hard and drops Whirly, who shuffles off, then changes its twisted mind and comes back in on the attack, slamming into the side of Orka and sending it spinning away across the arena, onto the edge of the pit! Chris quickly drives away and gets under Whirly again, once more using that claw on Whirly and this time getting the number #7 seed right where it hurts- in the shuffle pad! And now Orka hoists Steven into the air again and turns towards the chasm once more, then uses that 6 wheel drive to scoot over to the pit and drop Whirligig 4.5 into the abyss!
CEASE!
Quite simply amazing; the seed is eliminated in just 13 seconds!
Now we go to the pits, where the number #7 seed is leaving!
Me: That surprised us all!
Steven: Me too, I had hoped to last more than 13 seconds!
Me: You€™ve dropped from round 4 to round 2, bearing in mind there€™s one more round this time, is that a massive setback or do you think you can come back next year and do better?
Steven: You bet. Whirly will be back, bigger and better than ever (or the same!)
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, what€™s coming up after the break?
The heat D final!
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4
Macduff to push Orka down the pit.
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4
Its a scoop, huh? Use the lifting wedge this time, aim for the sides and/or rear, scoop him on, and drive him straight down the pit. Be all over Orka, dont give him a chance to move in for an attack.
Hello and welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where the Heat D final is about to get started!
Macduff the 3rd v Orka MK.4
Macduff the 3rd and Orka MK.4 teamed up on Stealth in their eliminator and worked together to pit the series 3 machine.
In the first heat semi-final Macduff the 3rd ruptured Eternia€™s co2 supply and that was the end of Eternia.
In the second heat semi-final the number #7 seed Whirligig 4.5 spun into action against Orka, but was grabbed and pitted in what was a massive shock.
I€™m here in the pits now with both teams.
Me: Will Macduff get beheaded here Kody?
Kody: I hope not, but I do hope that the whale will be made extinct.
Me: You have the more pushing power, but perhaps Orka has the more effective weaponry?
Kody: Possibly, but he€™ll have to get a chance to use it first...
Me: Are you at all worried Chris?
Chris: Macduff is a worthy opponent, but those tracks make a nice target for my claw.
Me: You won the last heat with Cyclone Force 3, so does that add or take away from the pressure today?
Chris: Takes away, really, because no matter what happens now I€™ve got at least 1 bot in the semis.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay, let€™s go to the coliseum!
Ladies and Gentlemen, please applaud the return of Macduff the 3rd and Orka MK.4 to the coliseum!

SMASH!!
Macduff is using the lifting wedge for this battle, and this immediately seems to be a very good choice, as when Orka comes out to meet the tracked rammer their scoops cancel each other out and Macduff€™s LEM-200s defeat Orka€™s S28-400s and Kody pushes Christopher back into the arena wall with a thump! Orka€™s claw comes down from above, but does nothing. Macduff is forced to release Orka after 30 seconds, but then Kody immediately goes back on the attack, this time getting underneath the side of Orka and lifting it into the air with the wedge and slams Christopher back into the arena wall! Orka lifts its scoop into the air and snorts co2 in frustration, but Macduff holds Chris off the ground and holds Orka over the Killsaws! BZZT! Chris is thrown onto his side and Macduff pushes in from underneath and rams Orka across the arena and into the opposite wall! CRASH! Orka€™s gonna feel that in the morning, but now Chris self-rights and finally gets his scoop underneath the side of Macduff and clamps down onto one of the tracks, then lifts Macduff into the air! The tables are turned and now Macduff is on its head, and Chris reverses into the pit release button! But Kody struggles and the tracks break free, making Macduff fall to the floor and Kody quickly darts away across the arena, away from the pit. Orka follows and once again the two meet head on, and this time Macduff pushes Orka towards the pit! Chris can€™t escape, but latches onto the hinge of Macduff€™s wedge as they approach the chasm and just holds onto dear life as when they get there Kody can€™t dump that Orka in! This time its Kody€™s turn to get frustrated as he can€™t shake Orka€™s grip, and is forced to pull Chris back out of danger and into the battle again. But he doesn€™t let Chris get a hold and reverses away, and then prepares for another run in, but Orka dodges it easy as pie and comes in from behind! But neither is Kody a fool and speeds away from the pursuing Orka, who gives up the chase and returns to the centre of the arena to await the next onslaught from Macduff. When it comes Chris fires the scoop too early and Macduff rams in underneath, lifting Chris and slamming him against the arena wall! Orka uses its claw to get back to earth, and then gets its own scoop under the raised wedge of Macduff, lifting Kody and bringing the claw down to catch Macduff in a vice-like grip! Once raised into the air Kody€™s tracks are useless and Orka powers across the coliseum and right over to the chasm, and then dumps our Scottish warrior into the abyss!
CEASE!
A disappointing end for Macduff, as it started so well.
Orka joins Wedge Devolution, Supreme Glory Omega and its stable mate Cyclone Force 3 as it goes through to the series semi-finals!
Don€™t miss us next time on Robot SMASH!! , where we€™ll see the return of the 9th seed WORCK-ER!
WORCK-ER (9) v Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus v Q.E.2
Back to Rock III v SOR X v Pussycat
Tactics are up above - I believe me and Paul are going to take DC-RI and throw it into Wales :proud:
In the other melee, Pussycat is not long for this world.
WOOT for the sucessful battles of extreme wootiness!
WORCK-ER (9) v Die-Ceratops Re-Invertus v Q.E.2: WOOT for the fact I have a seeded vapourbot! :proud: Me and Joey have teamed-up to take down the old dinosaur. The plan is to swarm Die-Ceratops, before I get it OOTA (In 1 flip - the improvements should be enough to do so) or Q.E.2 dumps it in the pit.
Back to Rock III v SOR X v Pussycat: Goodbye Pussycat.
Guess what? It€™s time for another gobsmackingly brilliant episode of Robot SMASH!! !
Tonight we€™ll see the return of the number #9 seed WORCK-ER, with that powerful flipper and well-thought out design he got to the heat final last year, but that was WORCK. This year he€™s WORCK-ER, and ready to flip the hell out of Die-Ceratops and the Quaestor, who€™s also back in a new incarnation known as Q.E.2. So what are we waiting for? Let€™s take a look at the draw!
WORCK-ER (9) v Die-ceratops Re-invertus v Q.E.2
Back to Rock III v SOR X v Pussycat
Eliminator 1
Created and entered by Paul Cuomo, the number #9 seed, WORCK-ER!
This seemingly simple wedge design incorporates a powerful front hinged flipper with its classic wedge shape to cause some serious mischief. Last year only the eventual runner-up Nidhogg could stop this baby in the heats, can WORCK-ER do BETT-ER?
In RS!!1 (as WORCK): Flipped and immobilised the helpless Typhoon 2 in the eliminator, then met up with the promising Sheer Heart Attack 2 in round 2. Paul gave the tracked axlebot a heart attack, but then came up against Nidhogg in the heat final. Having defeated Nidhogg previously in the challenge belt, WORCK was feeling pretty optimistic about the match, and once again it started well, but things went belly-up and WORCK was WORCKED up and out.
Created and entered by Christopher Mason, Die-ceratops Re-invertus!
A large wheely big cheese style flipper is the key to victory here, just like Liar 2 seen in last year€™s finals. Will the dinosaur follow in the deceptive flipper€™s successful path, or become extinct at the first hurdle?
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Created and entered by Joey McConnell, Q.E.2!
Last year this was a straight axe bot, but now Joey has added a flipper to the front to grab opponents and then pit them. But 5mm titanium isn€™t the hardest of armours and this robot may be wishing it had some tougher protection against spinners.
In RS!!1 (as The Quaestor): Gave Coinst the chop in round 1, but came up against Killobite 5.0 in round 2 and the roman was demoted, then executed.
Roboteers, standby!

SMASH!!
As this fight gets underway Paul immediately makes a beeline for Die-ceratops, and so does Q.E.2! It seems they€™re teaming up on poor old Chris, and WORCK-ER easily slides under the side of Die-Ceratops and flips it onto Q.E.2, who clamps Chris with the axe and lifts him into the air with the flipper! WORCK-ER rushes off to press the pit release button while Q.E.2 dumps Chris onto the Killsaws. BZZT! The dino is flipped back onto Q.E.2€™s flipper in a shower of sparks and Joey flips Chris away, but he comes back on the attack and gets underneath the side of Q.E.2 to throw it high into the air! Joey comes crashing back to earth, and just in time to bring his axe down onto Die-ceratops again, and now along comes WORCK-ER, getting in underneath Chris and flipping him over again, this time onto the Killsaws! BZZT! They throw the dino onto Q.E.2, who clamps it with just the axe and carries Chris over to the pit! WORCK-ER follows in case something goes wrong, which it does- Chris fires his flipper to get Q.E.2€™s axe off, but then Joey fires the flipper and Die-ceratops flips over sideways onto the edge of the pit so that one wheel is in play and the other is useless! And in goes the number #9 seed to finish the job!
CEASE!
Die-ceratops looked promising, but sadly it€™s extinct.
WORCK-ER (9) and Q.E.2 go through to round 2!
I€™m here in the pits now with Chris.
Me: I€™m gutted they teamed up on you, Die-ceratops looked like a really good machine and I expected it to go far.
Chris: Admittedly I had hoped it would do better than that, but there€™s not much you can do against a team-up like that.
Me: Well hopefully RS!!3 will have 4-way melees in round 1, so if you get teamed up on you€™ll at least have a teammate of your own.
Chris: That€™s what Die-ceratops needed today.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, back to the coliseum we go!
Eliminator 2
Created and entered by Martijn M Benschop, Back to Rock III!
Another Behemoth look-a-like, this one a bit different, with a nifty blade concealed within the scoop to slash tyres. The question is will this robot€™s opponents find themselves between a rock and a hard place or will it really be Back to Rock for Martijn?
In RS!!1: Looked promising, and started well against All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy, but eventually got rolled into the pit of oblivion and out of the competition in the opening round.
Created and entered by Andrew Jackson, SOR X!
This highly interesting robot consists of a powerful spinning rim that is connected to the wedge at the front, where there is a flipper powered by the rim€™s kinetic energy. What more could you want? Invertibility, perhaps? *cue gasps* this robot has that too.
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Built by Team Kat, entered by Steven McGregor, Pussycat!
The successor to Bodyhammer seen back in Heat A, this cat always lands on its feet and has a nice blade to cause damage. However, it€™s severely out of date, and with vapours of today€™s class around the cat could be me-out.
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter

SMASH!!
Immediately all three robots get their weapons up and going, although we can€™t really see Back to Rock€™s blade from this crappy camera angle (*fires cameraman*) we know its spinning because Martijn€™s just evil. And so is SOR X by the look of things, zeroing in on Pussycat and flipping the feline competitor up and over without even taking a scratch! And it doesn€™t stop there, as SOR X pulls its body around and slams into Pussycat with the spinner! What€™s that flying across the arena? Oh nothing, just a wheel that came off Pussycat. And now Martijn comes in to join the fun, flipping Pussycat onto its side and pushing it into SOR X€™s spinning rim! CRASH! And again a wheel goes flying, so now Pussycat can only go in circles, and tries too, but in comes Back to Rock III again and pushes it up against the arena wall! And in comes the mighty SOR X again and slams that dangerous weapon into another of Pussycat€™s unfortunate wheels, sending it over the fence and onto the camera tracks! And Back to Rock III thinks that Pussycat would like to be reunited with that wheel, and slickly fits that scoop in underneath Pussycat again and then sends it tumbling out of the arena and out of the heat!
CEASE!
A very easy and entertaining fight for AJ and Martijn, Back to Rock III and SOR X go through!
I€™m here in the pits now with Steven.
Me: Me-owch!
Steven: That kind of sums it up!
Me: Kody predicted,
€œPussycat to land on its feet, which will no longer be there€Â.
What do you think of that statement?
Steven: Amen, truer words were never spoken.
Don€™t go anywhere folks, if you have to soil those underpants because Robot SMASH!! Will be right back with these exciting round 2 battles!
WORCK-ER (9) v Back to Rock III
SOR X v Q.E.2
WORCKER vs. Back To Rock III
Tough this one, might end up going to the judges, but Id guess BTR to edge the decision or pit WORCKER.
Infusion...sorry, SOR X :P vs. QE2
It is times like these that call for copping out...go straight for the pit release, and then run around the other side and force Andy to engage in an edge of pit Jedi duel...try and lead him near the edge without going too close to the edge of the pit myself, axe if he gets in range, but try and push him in when close enough.
Ouch.
WOOT! Made it to Round 2, and I went through my team-mate - AWESOME! :)
WORCK-ER (9) v Back to Rock III: Hello Martijn :lame: This is not going to based on power, although I have the more power (24hp compared to his 18hp, and in addition I have 1 motor per wheel, maximising my chances of putting all my power onto the ground), but its going to be based on control, and who gets under the other one first.
My wedge scrapes along the arena floor, and may stand more chance of getting under than he does. One plan is to charge at the skirts and hope theyre so low that they force the wheels of Back To Rock off the ground, and given that my wedges on the side and rear are like VERY strong skirts, I think hell have a tougher time getting under me than vice-versa. If this happens, I can push underneath and keep him on the wedge using the barbs. Once under, use my 24hp and 15mph to shove him to the side and toss him out with 1 flip - 600kg of force alone should do the trick, but if I can use the 1550kg of force, fine .
Good luck Martijn
SOR X v Q.E.2: Sorry AJ, but Im going for a shock prediction that once Q.E.2 stops the ring, SOR X will be out.

No, no you havent. 2 LEM130s at 48V and 4 MAG400s at 36V is roughly the same amount of power.
quote:

No, no you havent. Each of your wheels is powered by 1 MAG400, meaning that if you were to have only 2 wheels on the ground, theyd be powered by only 2 MAG400s=12hp. If I were to have 2 wheels on the ground though, theyd both be powered by 2 LEM130s=24hp. And if anything, I have 6WD and the more grip.
My lifting plates run flat along the floor, so I can ram under his front no problem. His skirts are nice, but I have the torque to penetrate them, lift him and pit him, yeah, thatd rock
Goodluck
Why exactly is horsepower so important anyways?
a frequently asked question Joey, and even though the people saying hp doesnt matter once youve lifted your opponents wheels off the ground are completely right, I theresay the connection between hp and acceleration is highly important and sometimes deciding. Also the added hp means youll hit youre oppenent harder.
:proud:
Okay, just wondering :proud:

No you dont.
force = mass * acceleration. Whether you achieve it with a lem or a bosch, 20mph * 100kg is the same force.
Torque and speed are a much more important factor than horsepower.

I have to disagree Leo, you state force=mass*acceleration, which is true, then you use the example 20mph * 100kg, multiplying a SPEED with a mass, instead of multiplying an ACCELERATION with a mass like you should, and I do believe more horsepower DOES equal more acceleration
(Message edited by MajinB on June 03, 2008)
No it doesnt. you accelerate to a speed. and wether you reach that speed on a Lem or a Bosch, its impact will be the same. The Horsepower however can be used to create more speed (lower the reduction), or to shorten the acceleration ramp, but the outcome will be exactly the same if both robots have the same speed and mass no matter how much horsepower you got.
(edited, and should read or).
(Message edited by leorcc on June 03, 2008)
the horsepower might give you more through force if you get me. i.e. if a 100kg robot hits another 100kg robot and the drive is say bosch on 24v lets say they come to a halt but if the drive on 1 robot was say lems on 36v then the force might carry the robot through and not come to a halt. that might be what martijn means which i mabee agree. but then if they are the same then leo is right.
(Message edited by swanaldo on June 03, 2008)
Fact remains Leo, that in the post I initially replied to, you stated F=M*a, and you went on to give an example that contained M*s.
Momentum (Dutch: impuls ;)) = M*s, so yes, theres no difference in LEMS and Bosches there. As is in kinetic energy, which also contains mass and speed.
Where Lems and Mags and Perms and so on win is on torque. If you manage to get the horspower to the ground, on the same speed you will win a pushing match. You can accelerate faster than a Bosch would be able to so in a small confined space like an arena that will help (box rushing comes to mind).
But extra horsepower will not make you hit your opponent harder, which was what you claimed.
Lol, yes, very true leo, I was just confused by you initially stating force = mass * acceleration as an argument, where its about momentum. In the end you are right :)
After that ad break, Robot SMASH!! Is back to kick some more robot butt! Let€™s take another look at the draw.
WORCK-ER (9) v Back to Rock III
SOR X v Q.E.2
Heat Semi-Final 1
Ladies and Gentlemen, please applaud the return of the number #9 seed WORCK-ER and Back to Rock III.
Roboteers, standby!

SMASH!!
The seeds have been suffering badly in recent heats, as although in Heats A and B Wedge Devolution (1) and Supreme Glory Omega (3) won through to the semi-finals, in Heat C Storm II (5) were knocked out by Turbo Shredder in round 2 and in Heat D Whirligig 4.5 was pitted by Orka MK.4. Paul hopes to get WORCK-ER into the semis this year, but he€™ll have to go through Back to Rock to get there, and for now Martijn is standing in his way and simply not moving! The two robots meet head on, but their ground clearances cancel each other out and neither can push the other backwards! But here now it seems the scoop of Back to Rock slides in underneath WORCK-ER and the disc hits the underbelly! We don€™t see any damage (*fires another cameraman*), but there could have been and now Martijn levers WORCK-ER up and over, then pushes Paul up against the arena wall! The seed self-rights and pushes under the corner of Martijn€™s skirts, getting Back to Rock III stuck on the barbs! The unseeded robot is in trouble now, and WORCK-ER pushes Martijn across the arena before firing the flipper! He rolls over and over, but lands just inside the wall and self-rights to come on another attack of his own, once again getting in underneath WORCK-ER and pushing it across the arena and into the pit release button! Martijn presses the cutter against the base of WORCK-ER, and the sparks fly out, but now Martijn lifts up the scoop and shoves WORCK-ER onto the rails! Paul fires the flipper and lands on top of Back to Rock, but Martijn flips him over backwards and reverses into the side of WORCK-ER, pushing it around and onto the corner of the pit! Back to Rock turns around to finish the job, but WORCK-ER escapes and then comes back in on the attack itself, getting underneath the rear corner of the skirts on Back to Rock and sending Martijn tumbling into the arena wall again! But once more Back to Rock is quick to self-right and once again both robots meet head on, and with its six wheel drive this time Back to Rock pushes WORCK-ER backwards and down into the pit of oblivion!
CEASE!
Yet another shocking result as the ninth seed is eliminated and Back to Rock III heads through to the heat final!
We go now to the pits where WORCK-ER is leaving.
Me: Another unlucky loss there Paul.
Paul: Yeah, but it was pretty close and I got in a couple of good flips.
Me: Yeah. Back to Rock III is a good machine though, wouldn€™t you agree?
Paul: Without a doubt. It could go far.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s go back to the coliseum for the second heat semi-final.
Heat Semi-Final 2
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back to the coliseum SOR X and Q.E.2!
Roboteers, standby!

Booth 2: Joey McConnell

SMASH!!
SOR X immediately starts spinning up that powerful rim, but the Quaestor is already gone up the arena and has pressed the pit release button! And now Joey hides behind the chasm playfully, perhaps trying to trick Andy into making a mistake? Well, if so SOR X doesn€™t seem to care, striding up the arena and following Q.E.2, coming around the pit to meet Joey head on! And as both wedges meet, Joey brings his axe down, but misses as SOR X has swung itself around to smash the rim into the 5mm titanium armour of Q.E.2! CRASH! And now there€™s a large gash in the side, and SOR X brings its wedge into play, getting in underneath the side of Q.E.2 and flipping Joey onto his back! He self-rights, but lands with the back half of his robot over the pit he€™s just opened- and SOR X just swings that rim around one last time and knocks Q.E.2 back into the chasm and out of Robot SMASH!! Series 2 at the same stage its predecessor bowed out of the first series!
CEASE!
We return to the pits now where a disheartened Joey McConnell is packing up Q.E.2!
Me: Wasn€™t that a bit cowardly?
Joey: Desperate times call for desperate tactics!
Me: That was pretty desperate!
Joey: You bet. Just wait to see what I do next time!
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, don€™t go anywhere folks because we€™ll be back right after the break with the Heat E final!
Heat E final
Back to Rock III v SOR X
Tactics, predictions, and a whack on the head for me, because I put these two in the same heat, and they are already fighting against each other in the phoenix cup.
ARGHHHH! When is one of my vapours going to win a heat? Oh well, so near (to an OOTA) so far from a win :proud: Well done Martijn, and well done Back To Rock for making it from Round 1 last time to the Heat Final now.
In the Heat Final, I believe that Back To Rock will take the heat.
That was disappointing...not totally unexpected though :P
Ill guess BTR3 to win here.
haha, BtRIII and SoRX meet again!
lift, and pit!
This will be the third battle in a few weeks that SOR X and Back to Rock III have been involved in together. We won one battle together and the other one I lost. Time to make it even I say! Simple tactics - seek and destroy.
Hello and welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where the Heat E final is about to get started!
Back to Rock III v SOR X
In the eliminator these robots worked together to defeat Pussycat, who€™s wheels were ripped off before Back to Rock threw it OOTA.
In the first heat semi-final Back to Rock III pitted the number #9 seed WORCK-ER.
In the second SOR X pitted the cowardly Q.E.2.
Now they go up against each other, and I€™m here in the pits to see how they feel about that.
Me: So Martijn, how are you feeling about this draw?
Martijn: Pretty good, as Back to Rock III just defeated SOR X in the play-off of the Phoenix Cup, and I€™m hoping for a repeat performance here.
Me: Aren€™t you afraid you€™ll get ripped to pieces?
Martijn: I can use the scoop to keep the spinner off, and although he€™s invertible I can get to his tyres.
Me: So Andy, thoughts?
AJ: He beat me in the phoenix cup, so I€™ll have to pull something out of the bag here.
Me: Good luck to both teams, but let€™s settle this titanic tussle in the coliseum!
But first, a quick reminder of the series so far:
The number #1 seed Wedge Devolution defeated The Curse, Splinter and Sheer Heart Attack 2 to win Heat A.
The number #3 seed Supreme Glory Omega defeated Shrederator, Axe-o-Lotl and Knyfe to win Heat B.
Cyclone Force 3 defeated Obsidian, Monolith and Turbo Shredder to emerge victorious in Heat C.
Orka MK.4 pitted Stealth, the number #7 seed Whirligig 4.5 and Macduff the 3rd to win Heat D.
Heat Final
Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a tremendous round of applause for the return of Back to Rock III and SOR X to the arena!

SMASH!!
SOR X is the first off the mark, spinning that rim up to full speed and running on with an attack on Back to Rock, who merely uses the scoop to deflect the rim and pushes AJ onto the Killsaws! SOR X is bounced away, and Back to Rock comes in again, this time only getting slightly underneath as the saw sends sparks off SOR X€™s rim, but doesn€™t do any damage. SOR X gets away and turns around to face the attacking Back to Rock, getting underneath the front corner of one of the skirts and throwing Martijn onto his back! Back to Rock III self-rights and pushes into SOR X, flipping AJ up and over and in the process slamming him against the wall! But SOR X is invertible and drives off to press the pit release button, which it does before Back to Rock III attacks again, stacking AJ on the arena wall! He fires the flipper and gets back down, but in goes Martijn again and lifts it into the air with the scoop, but SOR X falls off the scoop and runs away to spin up again! Back to Rock follows AJ across the arena, but SOR X comes back strongly and slams the rim into the side of Back to Rock, ripping off one of the side skirts! Then Martijn€™s saw glances off SOR X, causing only superficial damage, and SOR backs off to spin up again. And when Back to Rock pursues SOR X swings itself around and slams the rim into the side of Back to Rock III again, sending Martijn spinning onto the killsaws, which flip him onto his back! Once more Back to Rock III self-rights and comes on the offensive, but the saw does no damage whatsoever and Martijn just tips SOR X onto its side, from where it falls over, but is pushed again by Back to Rock III and though AJ tries to escape Martijn has him beached on the scoop and carries on driving to the edge of the pit, before dumping SOR X into the chasm and out of the competition!
CEASE!
Another major shock and Back to Rock III, despite going out of round 1 last time around goes through to the semi-finals this time!
Coming next time on Robot SMASH!! :
Mantis v Walk Don€™t Run 3 v Pure Evil: Return of the Disc
All Scoop and No Stab Make Steve a Dull Boy (11) v Tengu v Sithis
Tactics, predictions, and an abbreviation for the number #11 seed€™s name!
Tactics:
Hmm.. Shock AlScoNoStMaStaDuBo to death. Maybe team up with Alex and double team him
I believe All Scoop is the usual short form... as stated theres not much specific I can do with tengu beyond aim to hit weaker bits. Im feeling in one of those indifferent moods, so go for whomever the writer decides Im going for.
Two hefty spinners. Lovely. :lame:
Not entirely sure what to do here. At least I have good armour and traction, just the thing ring spinners and FBSs generally dont like. I think Ill focus on Sithis for this match, as its invertible frame means I could get a good grip on it with my axe. Bulldoze it to stop the blades, grapple it with the hammer, then shove it into the nearest, deadliest hazard. If Tengu becomes a bother, Ill try bulldozing it too.
Tactics, hit the pit release button first, then clamp, lift, and dump in the pit.
