Robot SMASH!!
Special Event
Middleweight Heat 1/4
Life v Hazard
Life is half of the clusterbot Life and Death. It packs a powerful flipper and fairly tough armour.
Hazard is a box-wedge with a spinning blade on top.It has won the Battlebots middleweight title more than once, but has no srimech, so bad luck on being drawn up against Life!
Booth 1: Joey McConnell
Booth 2: Mark Elam
5,4,3,2,1, DESTROY!
Hazard spins up and heads in on the attack, but Life is coming at it full pelt!
CRASH!
Head on collision! Life seems to have taken a small gash to the front armour while Hazard has momentarily ceased to spin!
Life takes this opportunity to get in underneath and throw Hazard into the air!
CRASH!
It lands upside down on the flame pit, and Life isnt taking any chances!
The crowd counts for us!
5,4,3,2,1, IMMOBILE!
Life does a victory spin and presses the pit release button! It then drives in underneath Hazard and flips it again!
Mark somersualts and lands in the pit of oblivion!
Another fast and furious special event comes to a close!Life goes through to the middleweight semi-final!

Robot SMASH!!
I dont wish to sound like a sore loser, but I need to ask about my fight - Gabriel didnt get THAT far under me so shouldnt he have just thrown me AGIANST the wall so I could self-right off it?
And also, when we both got flipped, couldnt I have self-righted just as easily as he did? Becuase Im invertible, when on my back, I can drive away from him and self-right then.
And another thing - whats a rear shirt?
Im not bitter at all - another of my robots is coming up in the next heat - but Im a bit confused about the result.
-
Robot SMASH!!
A rear shirt is an invention of my own design, that is just like a rear skirt except it has a handy pocket for putting spare bolts and annoying house robots in.
And I agree with some of Pauls comments here - front hinged flippers need to get right under the opposition to do anything more than push them away a bit.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Can I ask for a rematch, to make sure the result was technically possible - if its alright with you Joey.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Its alright with me, Paul - Id rather lose fairly than win controversially, even though that sounds really cliched.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Liam, where did Life get in underneath?
If its the front, thats near impossible because I have a wedge. If its the sides, Im perfectly happy, although Hazards blade would cause him to go like this:
uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7HHwkSbZZ4&feature=related
Watch when Tornado Mer(the one with the blade) gets turned over.

Paul and Joey- I meant skirt, not shirt!
And about the OOTA- Think about it, Nitro-Gene was on the rails, right? When he reverses hell go onto the top part of Gabriels flipper, which from that position could push him out.
Ill do a rematch if your both still unhappy though.
Mark- Life attacked from the side, but your blade wasnt spinning at full speed after the last impact.

Heat A Final
Heat Final 1/8:
Gabriel II v Liar 2
Lets see how these two fantastic machines got this far...
1) Gabriel opened the tournament by pitting Acronyms FTW after a hard battle.
2) Mark was confident, but Cyrilium 2 was no match for Liar 2 which threw it OOTA
3) In the first of the heat semi-finals Gabriel II had another tough fight with Nitro-Gene 4.0. This was the first of what will be many Joey v Paul battles, and right now its 1-0 to Joey!
4) Liar 2, on the other hand breezed through round 2 throwing the 20kg clusters of Weapon Synergy sky high!
Lets see who will claim the first place in the quarter-finals!
Booth 1: Joey McConnell
Booth 2: Martijn M Benschop
5,4,3,2,1, OBLITERATE!
Both bots head towards each other, seemingly tentative, not willing to risk ending up on the others wedge! They edge closer, then Joey makes the first move!
He rams in, pushing against Liar 2s front, but then Martijn spins around and gets in underneath with his side-wedge! Gabriel is turned over onto its back, and Joey quickly self-rights before moving out of danger!
Martijn pursues, but this time fires his flipper too early, allowing Gabriel to get under the front! Joey sends Martijn head over heels, but like Gabriel Liar 2 is quick to right itself from the position it landed in and Martin reverses into the side of Gabriel, driving up the robot! While Liar 2s wheels are useless Joey turns around to get underneath Liar from the back and flips it again! Once more Martijn self-rights and comes on the attack, pushing Gabriel into the angle grinder!
Joey pushes back, this time getting Liar 2 onto the flame pit! No damage sustained as such, and now Liar does the spinning trick again to get under with the side-wedge!
But Joey was ready for it and turned in preparation, so getting in around Liars rear end! Gabriel rams Martijn for the full length of the arena, into the pit release button, and pushes Liar up against the wall so that it is on the wedge! Joey fires the flipper, but it just knocks Liar into the macrolon and Martijn escapes! Gabriel follows, but Martijn is ready this time, pulling around to get behind Gabriel and pushing it towards the pit!
The struggle is intense, but finally Joey manages to turn away and come back around to attack the side of Liar 2!
But hes forgotten the side wedge, so when he fires his flipper Martijn flips him over with the side wedge! And now Joeys flipper is open against the floor! He starts to self-right, but Martijn takes advantage of the momentary weakness and gives Gabriel a long push- towards the middle of the arena and the pit Joey opened! When Gabriel has self-righted now Joey is on the back of Liar 2, and so cant go anywhere but where Martijn wants him to go! And you can guess where Martijn wants him, and gets him...
THE FIRST HEAT IS ALL OVER!
Gabriel meets the bottom of the pit, Liar 2 meets the series finals!
-
Robot SMASH!!
Ah well, someday Gabriels luck will change :proud: Good job Liam and Marti.
-
Robot SMASH!!
OK - me and Joey wouldve liked a rematch, but fine. Well done to Liar and Martijn.
My tactics for the next heat:
D.V.D vs. Iron Awe 5: I admire Iron Awe 5, but I dont admire Mark whos entered it. I know his armour may be too tough for my drum to hurt. But I can have a go - my drum develops more power than Typhoons FBS did, and its heavily shock-proofed in the front so it wont self-destruct. Iron Awe 5 is great and its flipper is scary, but it doesnt have a 0m turning circle - its turning circle is 1.2m, so I have better agility and speed and control.
The other thing is all of Iron Awe 5s components are attached to the base, and Iron Awes side-panels are bolted down. This means I can attack the bolts, break them, and the rest should be easy to hurt. If not, my powerful drum can always throw him OOTA.
Good luck Mark
-
Robot SMASH!!
Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! where we are now revving up for Heat B, where the first eliminator will be Paul Cuomos D.V.D (Death via Drum) v a realie entered by Mark Elam, Iron Awe 5!
Both bots are made of tough stuff, lets take a look...
D.V.D is an odd invertible bot with triangular sides and rear. Its got a powerful drum, but also an 8mm ground clearance so Iron Awe will have no problem getting underneath.
Iron Awe 5 finished 3rd in the 2007 UK championships, and was the 2007 Roaming Robots Winter Tour Champion! It was entered into my last tournament (The Easter Bunny Tribute Championships) by Kody Kunz, but it was pitted in round one by Danny Baileys Crimson Thunder.
Booth 1: Paul Cuomo
Booth 2: Mark Elam
5,4,3,2,1, ANNIALATE!
D.V.D starts spinning up and sets off away from Iron Awe so it wont be interuppted in the short spin-up time. Time Up! Mark comes in and gets in underneath, easily flipping Paul over. But the drum was unaffected by the angle of the flip and D.V.D is invertible (although it landed the right way up anyway!), not to mention quick to recover from an attack like that as Paul swerves around the rear of Iron Awe 5 and brings the upwards spinning drum into play!
CRASH!
Iron Awe somersaults and lands on its back, self-righting no problem but getting pushed into the arena side wall from the rear!
Now Paul has had time tp spin up that powerful drum again and hits once more!
CRASH!
Iron Awe 5 flips over again, this time mistiming its hasty flip to self-right and landing back upside down after hitting the angle grinder!
The flipper is open for a mere second, but Paul is too fast for it and attacks the insides!
CRASH!
A sudden rush of Co2 comes out of Iron Awe as the bottle is broken!
Paul pushes Iron Awe into the arena wall and lets the audience count the immobile bot out!
5,4,3,2,1, IMMOBILE!
As a grand finishing move Paul slams in with the drum one more time!
CRASH!
Iron Awe wobbles precariously on the rails for a moment, then falls onto the camera tracks!
D.V.D goes through to the heat semi-final!
-
Robot SMASH!!
My tactics are somewhere up in the great archives in the sky...
-
Robot SMASH!!
No real tactics against Supreme Glory, try to get around to the sides, grapple and shove around.
Would it be possible to put a reminder of whos fighting next please?
-
Robot SMASH!!
Eliminator 6/32:
Dead Horse Beater v Supreme Glory Omega
Dead Horse Beater is entered by Frank Goacher, whos first entry Acronyms FTW was pitted by Gabriel II in the first battle of the tournament! He sure hopes Dead Horse Beater will fare better against its fellow axe, Supreme Glory Omega!
Supreme Glory Omega comes from the same mind that gave us Weapon Synergy (beaten in the second round of Heat A by Liar 2), Daniel Stickler! This robot has had a good run in my challenge belt tournament, defeating Worck and MeCannibal 2.0 (both Paul Cuomo creations and will both be seen in later heats!) before losing out to Flick of the Wrist, from Martijn, who won the last heat with Liar 2!
Booth 1: Frank Goacher
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, ELIMINATE!
Both axes are running at the same drive power, so both get off to a similar start, but Dead Horse Beater has no skirts and this gives it more maneouvrability! Taking advantage of this, Frank steers around to the side and fires his axe! It makes impact with the top armour of Daniels machine and Frank holds on tight, engaging in a fierce tug of war! But Supreme Glorys wheels cant run sideways and Daniel finds himself shunted into the angle grinder, which scrapes the paint off a side skirt!
Frank pulls it away and takes his axe away, then before Supreme Glory escapes he attacks again, this time managing to get a good grip with the nail over the side of Supreme Glory, and Frank pushes Daniel into the corner! The spike topples SGO, and Daniel self-rights to come on the attack himself! He slams into the front of Dead Horse Beater and brings the axe down, buffeting Franks top armour hard! But Dead Horse Beater attacks back with its own axe, whacking away at SGO! Frank pushes Daniel back into the corner, but Daniel fires his axe again and reverses over the spike, dragging Frank on and letting go!
The spike comes up, and Dead Horse Beater is flipped over onto its back! Taking his chance Daniel fires SGOs axe and digs into that weak base armour! With the axe in Frank cant self-right and Daniel pushes it up against the wall before with drawing his axe for another hit!
SLAM!
This impact does much more damage, smashing through the 4mm polypropylene and the insides could be damaged! Then all of a sudden Dead Horse Beater starts venting gas through that hole! Daniel has punctured the co2 canister and now Frank cant self-right!
The crowd scream with delight and count Frank out!
5,4,3,2,1, IMMOBILE!
As a celebration Daniel gives the base one more taste of the axe, shattering it easily and sending shards of polypropylene flying around the arena!
THE SECOND ELIMINATOR OF THE HEAT IS OVER!
Dead Horse Beater is beaten as Supreme Glory heads for the glory of the heat semi-finals!
Coming Next:
Shadow Zone Returns v Fire and Ice
-
Robot SMASH!!
Eliminator 7/32:
Shadow Zone Returns v Fire and Ice
Shadow Zone Returns is a new version of Shadow Zone 1.1, with a new front scoop to enhance pushing power. At the rear is a powerful flipping arm, like that of Toro/ The Matador/ T-Minus.
Fire and Ice is another robot with plenty of pushing power, but it has wedges instead of a scoop and saws instead of a flipper- could these be telling factors?
Booth 1: Kody Kunz
Booth 2: Joey McConnell
5,4,3,2,1, DECIMATE!
Both bots get going quickly, but instead of going for Shadow Zone Joet turns and presses the pit release tyre! The siren wails, but Shadow has crept up behind and got that scoop in underneath the rear wedge of Fire and Ice! The saw causes sparks to fly, but no real damage is caused and Kody pushes Fire and Ice into the corner! The spike flips Joey over, on top of Shadow Zones rear end! Kody fires the flipper, and Fire and Ice somersaults through the air before crashing down to earth with a bump! But Joey is quick to recover and rams Shadow Zone from the side, a stream of sparks flying out as the saw comes into play! But Joeys main weapon is the sheer power of his bot, and he displays this now by shunting Shadow Zone into the angle grinder! The 10kg weight advantage granted by the tracks on Fire and Ice is paying off, as Joey can keep hitting Kody hard! But Shadow Zone has once again suffered minimal damage and reverses away from the grinder, attacking Joeys ground clearance at the sides and throwing it into the air again! Once more Fire and Ice comes crashing down, and Shadow Zone gets under with the scoop and shunts it towards the pit! But time is ticking down!
10, 9, 8...
Joey is almost there!
7, 6, 5...
Kody has almost won the fight!
4, 3, 2...
They get there, but as Kody triumphantly reverses he realises Fire and Ice isnt finished yet- one track is suspended over the pit, but most of the body is still on the floor!
1...
Kody comes in to finish the match!
THE FIGHT IS OVER!
Kody gets there and Fire and Ice hits the bottom of the pit, a second too late!
As Fire and Ice was not pitted in time the match will go to a judges decision!
Shadow Zone Returns: Fire and Ice:
Damage- 2/5 2/5
Agression- 4/5 3/5
Style- 3/5 3/5
Control- 4/5 2/5
Overall- 13/20 10/20
By three points, Shadow Zone Returns makes it to the heat semi-finals!

*shrugs* Good fights guys, need to work on my secret anti-pit device :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!!
Lets wait and see Paul...Maybe D.V.D can pull it off with some good tactics, but there are good bots like Shadow Zone in the heat and already into round 2...Who knows?
-
Robot SMASH!!
Two fairly even machines here. I think Back to Rock has the advantage in pushing power, but I have the more powerful arm. Tactics here are to get around to the sides, aim for the rear corners of the skirts, slide the scoop underneath and throw it over. Get back underneath, pin it with the axe and chuck it out the ring before it can get back on its wheels.
-
Robot SMASH!!
Eliminator 8/32:
ASANSMSADB v Back to Rock III
All scoop and no stab make steve a dull boy is a Behemoth style- scoop and axe synergy, but on a reverse wedge shape. It will be referred to as All scoop most of the time because of the marathon- length name!
Back to Rock III also has a lifting scoop, but the difference is Martijn has put a spinning blade in the middle of his! It has the more pushing power, and so should be able to bulldoze All scoop without too much trouble.
Booth 1: Steven McGregor
Booth 2: Martijn M Benschop
5,4,3,2,1, OLIBERATE!
All scoop and Back to Rock head towards each other, scoop to scoop they meet and push hard! Martijn gains the advantage and pushes Steven into the arena wall! Steven hits Martijn with his
axe, but not much damage is done. Eventually Martijn drives away, but Steven comes in and throws Back to Rock over! Before Martijn rights himself Steven goes in and clamps down with the axe, stopping Back to Rock self-righting! Steven pushes Martijn across the arena floor and into the pit release button! But now he gets his scoop underneath and tries to throw Martijn out!
All scoop lifts Back to Rock onto the rails and tries to push it out, but Martijn fires his scoop and self-rights back into the arena, albeit on top of All Scoop! Steven reverses into a position where he is directly infront of the pit and fires the scoop!
Martijn tries to self-right away again, but to no avail and Back to Rock III rolls into the pit!
THE HEAT SEMI-FINALS LOOM!
Back to Rock III is in between a rock and a hard place as All Scoop goes through to the heat semi-finals!

Featherweight Heat 2/4:
Arrgh v T.R.E.D.T.H.A.L
Arrgh was the featherweight champion at robot wars extreme 2, and is entered here by Paul Cuomo. Its got a powerful vertical flywheel, and is from the same team as the heavyweight Reptirron.
T.R.E.D.T.H.A.L, on the other hand is a vapour created by Steven McGregor. Its an interesting design, incorporating a weapon synergy of lifter and axe similar to the one seen on Stevens heavyweight- All scoop and no stab make steve a dull boy, which just qualified for the main competitions heat semi-finals and is a hot favourite to take the heat championship.
Booth 1: Paul Cuomo
Booth 2: Steven McGregor
5,4,3,2,1, DECAPITATE!
Arrgh starts spinning up, but Steven is quick on the attack and slams into the side of Arrgh, bulldozing it across the arena and clamping down with the axe! Arrgh is powerless in this position, and now T.R.E.D.T.H.A.L pushes it for the full length of the arena, into the pit release tyre! The siren wails and Steven hoists Arrgh into the air with the lifter while maintianing a grip with the axe!
Arrgh spins the disc and the wheels, but still nothing happens and Steven carries him over to the pit!
PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT
The crowd chant excitedly!
ITS OUTTA THERE!
T.R.E.D.T.H.A.Ls superior traction and tactics take it through to the semi-finals while Arrgh lies downcast in the pit of oblivion!

Robot SMASH!!
Thanks for putting whos fighting next. Makes it much easier to find out when I have to give tactics:)
-
Robot SMASH!!
Shadow Zone Returns v All Scoop: Shadow Zone may be a good robot, but I believe that All Scoop will get underneath and toss Kody OOTA!
D.V.D v Supreme Glory Omega: A battle of pride for me, as Danny is 2-0 upwards in our battles, but I reckon that I can overcome it with some clever tactics  Because he has that 360 turret with the axe on, so he can aim as best he can, if I attack him very quickly diagonally, Ill be able to hit him and flip him at the same time - and Ill also smash up that miserable Lexan armour. To be honest, I would have rather faced Frank for this, but Im not going down without a fight here
Summary: Attack him in a direction his turret ISNT facing, and then hit him with the drum, until I get through his armour and kill him. He wont be able to come on the attack as hes much slower than me, so in addition, stick close to him and reverse when his axe fires, and drive forward when its fired.
Good luck Danny

Really Frank I thought you were right, it makes itm uch easier for you if I say whos fighting next. I would have always done it, but could never remember! If I cant remember now I just edit the post, as Joey knows!

Heat Semi-Final 3/16:
Shadow Zone Returns v All Scoop...
Shadow Zone had a good round in the eliminators, defeating Fire and Ice. But Steven could be a tougher opponent, not so much the design that Shadow Zone can fight well...Let see how it goes..
All Scoop is short for... Click on an archive, Im never typing it again!!
In the eliminator it pitted an old hand, Back to Rock III and is now a hot favourite to get the heat!
Booth 1: Kody Kunz
Booth 2: Steven McGregor
5,4,3,2,1, ELIMINATE!
Shadow Zone seems to be lining up a flipper attack rather than a ramming onslaught with the front scoop, as Kody has turned around and seems to be trying to get around Steves rear end!
But All Scoop is wiser and turns to meet the attack, meeting Shadow Zone head on! Steven hits Kodys flipping arm with his axe, and pushes it across the arena into the pit release tyre!
To get Steven away Kody fires the arm and flings the axe off, before turning around and getting under the side of All Scoop, ramming it into the corner! The spike turns Kody over and Steven comes in on the attack, hitting with the axe again and lifting with the scoop! Steven carries Shadow Zone toward the side wall and tries to dump it out! Shadow Zone fires the flipper in desparation, but to no avail as Steven has already let go!
THE CAMERA TRACKS ARE DAMAGED!
Kodys gone and has damaged my camera:angry:
All Scoop goes through to the heat final!
Coming Next:
D.V.D v Supreme Glory Omega
And a question I want to ask:

Robot SMASH!!
Heat Semi-Final 4/16:
D.V.D v Supreme Glory Omega
D.V.D knocked Iron Awe 5 OOTA in round one, proving the power of its drum. Daniels lexan armour may prove no match for a weapon of this calibre, but will Pauls wheels hold up to that axe?
Supreme Glory Omega is a seasoned veteran of my tournaments. It started badly in the eliminator round, getting shoved around by Dead Horse Beater. But eventually Franks base armour proved too weak and the axe died after the co2 canister was destroyed.
Booth 1: Paul Cuomo
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, DECAPITATE!
D.V.D starts spinning up, but in comes SGO and slams it into the arena wall! Daniel bashes D.V.D with the axe, and Paul keeps spinning up the drum as he struggles to get away. Finally he breaks free and runs a short way before turning to face SGO, which starts quaking and scarpers! Paul comes in from behind and hits SGO with the drum! A rear panel now has a nice gash in it and SGO is flipped upon impact! Daniel quickly self-rights and comes back on the attack, bashing D.V.D once again with that powerful axe! D.V.D keeps spinning up that drum, but when he attacks he finds he cant, because Daniel has got his axe stuck in a wheel rut and is holding D.V.D at arms length! Paul struggles, but Daniel pushes him across the arena and into the pit release tyre! He tries to pull Paul towards the chasm, but D.V.D gets free and slams into Supreme Glory Omega hard!
CRASH!
The already damaged panel flies off completely and SGO turns over again! Daniel self-rights and rams Paul again, this time into the corner! The spike flips Paul, but D.V.D is invertible and continues its run, spinning up and coming on the attack again!
CRASH!
This impact does less damage than the previous hit, but still dents the side armour! But now Daniel decides enough is enough... And slams his axe into Pauls bodywork, making D.V.D shudder violently with the slam!
Theres no retaliation from D.V.D, so Supreme Glory rams it across the arena to finish off!
5,4,3,2,1, IMMOBILE!
Supreme Glory turns Blu-ray to meet All Scoop, while D.V.D is turned into a VHS!

Robot SMASH!!
Special Event- Middleweight Heat 2/4:
T-Minus v Claw and Axe
T-Minus is another previous winner of the battlebots middleweight chmapionship!Unlike Hazard, however it is a high-pressure flipper that has a srimech!
Remember Weapon Synergy back in Heat A? Well for his middleweight Daniel Stickler has chosen to take two of its clusters and enter them here!
Booth 1: Martijn M Benschop
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, DESTROY!
Claw and Axe split up while T-Minus gets ready for some serious flipping action! Claw comes on a frontal attack, but it is flipped sky-high before Daniel even gets a chance! Axe comes in from behind, but Martijn uses the weight advantage to push it into the corner where its flipped by the spike! Axe self-rights, but T-Minus has turned around and now flips Axe OOTA!
Claw comes in, but Martijn is ready and flips it, albeit away from the walls rather than over them. But he gives chase and gets underneath again, this time ramming Claw into the side wall before letting it fly again!
ANOTHER MIDDLEWEIGHT HEAT HAS A PREMATURE END!
Once again the weight advantage proved too much for Weapon Synergy and Daniel bites the dust! T-Minus goes through to the middleweight semi-finals!
To Kody- At least your a gallant loser, unlike someone I know (COUGH-MARK-COUGH)!

Heat B Final:
All Scoop... v Supreme Glory Omega
Lets see how these two mechanical monsters got to this stage of the competition!
1) Supreme Glory Omega started badly in its eliminator, but came back to shatter Dead Horse Beaters base armour and take the match via knockout.
2) All Scoop proved that a stupidly long name wouldnt count against it and pitted Back to Rock III.
3) All Scoop had a tough fight with Shadow Zone Returns, but eventually scored an OOTA to claim its place here in the heat final.
4) Supreme Glory Omega started badly again in its semi-final match, but eventually dealt D.V.D a fatal blow to reach this highly respectable round!
Booth 1: Steven McGregor
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, DECIMATE!
Both bots get off to a quick start, heading towards each other! Supreme Glory brings its axe down, but misses as All Scoop veers out of its line of fire and gets underneath the corner! Steven quickly turns SGO onto its back and brings the axe down to stop Daniel self-righting!
Steven now carries his opponent to the arena wall, and tries to dump him out of the arena! But SGO fires the axe at the right time to self-right off the wall! And beacuse of the direction it falls away from All Scoop before ramming Steven from the side and bringing its own axe crashing down on All Scoops top armour! Daniel gets him into the corner, and All Scoop is flipped by an arena spike! He quickly self-rights, but Daniel was waiting to get under him and now uses the axe as a front hinged flipper to throw Steven onto the wall! The axe dangles over the side helplessly, but Steven uses the scoop and gets his wheels back on the ground! He immediately comes back on the attack, but SGO delivers a whopper of a hit right onto the top of All Scoop! The axe head comes crashing down, and something has fallen off All Scoop!
The cameras zoom in and we see the removable link lying uselessly on the ground!
ANOTHER HEAT COMES TO AN END!
Supreme Glory Omega springs a surprise and claims a place in the series finals! All Scoop is out of the heat and the contest as Daniel goes through!
Coming Next: The First eliminator of Heat C!
Worck v Typhoon 2
Note to Mark- Remember Im not taking that AFR rubbish.
