Storm II gets off to the quicker start, as it drives straight at Trax, which comes out to meet the charge. The two machines collide at some speed, front to front, and both robots remain still for a moment as they attempt to gain an advantage, wheels and tracks spinning...and Trax is winning here! The treads are giving it superior traction to push Storm away, slowly, but the lifter on Storm comes up, and catches on the weapon supports on Trax, raising it in the air and allowing Storm to get underneath, gaining control and slamming Trax into the arena wall! Trax bounces over the top of Storm, and back onto its tracks, as it turns to face Storm again. Storm backs away, then comes in again, ramming into Trax at the corner of the scoop, but riding up on the scoop as it does so! Shane sees his chance, and rotates Trax to get Storm onto the flipper, but not quite getting the body of its opponent square on the bar. However, Storm is high centred on the side of Trax, and the conglomerate of machines proceeds past the patrol zone towards the pit, Ed flicking at his controls in the Lexan booth to little effect. Trax coasts to a stop, and-
FLIP! Storm is rolled off to the side of the front hinged flipper, hitting the tape at the edge of the pit inverted, but reverses away before Trax can make the final push. Trax backs up to the wall near the patrol zone as Storm comes back on the attack, ramming into the side of Trax, avoiding the scoop, and knocking it sideways across into the corner. It immediately comes in for another push, Trax not finding room to maneuver along the edge of the pit, and is driven into the arena wall by its adversary. Trax reverses, though, moving across the edge of the void while keeping its scoop pointed at Storm, who charges in once more, getting its front onto the side of Traxs scoop...and pushing Traxs front edge over the pit! Shane immediately tries to reverse out of the way, but Storm is now driving into Trax in reverse, pushing it further back! Traxs tracks arent making enough contact with the arena to push Storm away, and within seconds Trax is tumbling backwards into oblivion, through the smoke and out!
Shane shakes his head, smiling to himself as he sets down his controls, as Ed and Paul high five each other across the platform, Stroms lifter raised in victory.

After a thrilling battle, Storm II vanquishes Trax to progress into the heat final!

The Chevron Championship
WOOT! Another heat final! But, like last time, I dont feel so condident of a victory. Heres my tactics for each possible line-up:
SOR Hex: Depending on its weaponry, it should be a challenge, but if I get side-on, shove it straight into the House House and hope they do damage. Once the House Robots are getting stuck in, activate the pit release button, and push him down if he escapes the pit.
Sheer Heart Attack 2: Ive seen a weakness in the design of SHA. Becuase it is 2 tracks connected by a drum, Ill try to end up BETWEEN the tracks, then just push it into the pit as quickly as I can.
Good luck to AJ and Martijn

The fight gets off to a slow start, both machines coming tentatively towards each other as they line up their weapons, but SoR gets off the mark first, coming across to Sheer Heart Attack before stopping in front of the tracked machine, which drives straight at it suddenly with weapon spinning, but SoR is able to dodge the attack in reverse, and now comes in on Sheer Heart Attacks broadside, but misses as Martijn steers away from the charge! Son Of Ripper turns away from the house robots at the top of the arena, and in towards its opponent, who keeps its weapon facing in the direction it should, and attempts to get around the side of Sheer Heart attack, but just before impact turning to get the flipper in under the front right track!
CRASH! But SoR goes flying into the air, the flipper just firing a fraction too late as Sheer Heart Attack hit it with the drum...SoR comes down on its rear blade, bouncing down onto its back. With a flick of a switch, though, Andy selfrights his machine, sending it back over its tail and onto the ground in front of Sheer Heart Attack, and wisely reversing away from the drum and turning back down towards the corner. Sheer Heart Attack drives in pursuit, but it appears SoR is trying a different tactic now, spinning up the bar at the rear to try and damage the tracks or the weapon. There is a brief pause, but then the robots come at each other, spinner to spinner!
CRASH! and SoR goes flying again, somewhat off to one side through the air as it lands near the patrol zone, the bars speed reduced and the mounts bent slightly from the drum impact, as it turns again to come in with the bar while the drum isnt at full power, but Sheer Heart Attack dosnt show any weaknesses as it charges in again!
CRASH! And something very bright goes flying amidst the sparks - a section of the skirt! SoR is lacking a large part of its front skirt, in addition to being inverted once more, and Sheer Heart attack comes in again...the weapon not doing all that much at its reduced speed as it makes contact, but the wedge of SoR riding over the drum and allowing its opponent to push it back...the bar clattering uselessly against the floor as the machines drive in the patrol zone, and Sheer Heart Attack backs away as the house robots show their interest, Dead Metal in particular grappling the right hand side of Son of Ripper...the saw comes in and sparks fly, as Sgt. Bash reverses in with the grinder, creating more sparks from the underbelly of the trapped machine. SoR fires the flipper, though, knocking Dead Metals saw arm upwards, and frees itself from the scorpion grip, now coming out towards its waiting opponent, spinning the bar in an attempt to get on the attack. Sheer Heart Attack comes in, as SoR doent quite seem sure of which side to go for, and moves to the right, but perhaps a second too late to avoid the drum!
CRASH! SoR is sent flying again, and lands in a sorry state, scratched and dented with the right side skirt almost torn away completely. It reverses back in though, bringing the bar in against Sheer Heart Attacks drum, almost spinner to spinner!
CRASH! And now SoRs weapon is stopped! The impact of the blade has broken the weapons drive chain, the mountings bent as the chain drags uselessly along the floor. SoR comes back, though, towards Sheer Heart Attack, whose weapon isnt spinning that much at the moment...or at all...Martijn looks concerned in his control booth, and perhaps rightly so - the left hand side front of his machine is battered, and the track has been forced off the drive wheel by that last impact of the blade, now catching around the drum and preventing it from spinning, as well as severely impairng its mobility! Up on the other side of the platform, Andrew senses that perhaps the balance of the fight has changed dramatically, and turns SoR away towards the flame grid, and in for an attack with the front flipper...the best Martijn can do is drive SHA broadside on, and SoR rams beneath the tracks, and slowly begins pushing its adversary towards the pit! The one remaining track on Sheer Heart Attack is spinning, but can only maneuver the machine off the wedge as it goes backwards, and force SoR beneath the defunct weapon!
FLIP! Sheer Heart Attack goes up off the ground, and bounces down almost on the brink of the pit! The clock begins to tick down, but all SoR has to do here is manage one last shove, to get Sheer Heart Attack down the pit, and it comes in as fast as it can at this late stage, pushing the tracked machine backwards...Martijn sets down his controls and glances upwards, as Andrew concentrates to finally send Sheer Heart Attack in through the smoke onto the tyres, and Andrew rests against the Lexan, smiling to himself as he realises his good fortune.

Wow, didnt think that would happen.
Storm II vs. Son of Ripper Hex
SoR to flip Storm and keep it on its back while battering it with the rear bar.
Oops...did I give tactics instead of predictions? :proud:

The Chevron Championship
Ive already given my tactics, but minus the pit release button. Shove him into the CPZ and have them smah him up a bit. If he escapes, just line him up and ram in straight down the pit, as it true that we have the same power, but I have more grip, as he has 2 wheels covered in Vulkalon, and I have 6 wheels covered in Vulkalon.
I will also TARGET THE SIDES. Go for the front if his flipper is raised, but generally avoid the rear.
Good luck AJ
-
The Chevron Championship
Woo nice battle. Kody pretty much summed up my tactics, get under, flip it over and leave it basically unable to push me. If Typhoon 2 could rip those pannels off, then so can I. Go to town with the bar and smash it up. If I am unable to flip it over my wedges and skirts will give it a hard time getting under me too. Theoretically Storm II may have more traction. But by that sense Storm II had more traction than Tornado and it still outpushed it.
-
The Chevron Championship
Excuse me AJ - it was actually Matailda that ripped off the panel, which is a flywheel that can give off 90kj or something to that extent. What is your bar doing to do except cause a few scars?
-
The Chevron Championship
Absoultly positive it was Matilda? I remember someone (cant remember whom) from the old forum insisting that it was Barber-ous 2n A Bit, not Tetanus Booster, that knocked the panels off of Leveller 2, despite a closer inspection proving that Tetanus HAD done it...in fact, the attack occured mid-way through Barber-ous being counted out.

The heat final gets off to a fast start, as Storm II immediately comes in towards Son Of Ripper, who comes out to meet it, but Storm turns to try and get around the side. SoR turns to face Storm, but the rammer is already accelerating and slams into the front left corner of its opponent...but goes over the skirts and onto the top edge of SoR!
FLIP! Andrew fires the flipper, and Storm rolls off the back of SoR, tumbling down off its opponents rear weapon supports, the bar not yet spinning. Storm drives away, turning for another attack as SoR comes in pursuit, up towards the top patrol zone. Storm maneuvers to try and get in on the sides of SoR, who is making this difficult for the opponent, turning to keep the front facing Storm at all times. Storm backs off briefly, before coming in to try and dummy SoR as it charges...but just goes straight up the skirts and onto the top of its opponent once again!
FLIP! This time, Storm goes briefly into the air before landing upside down, side on to SoR. Driving down towards the flame pit, Storm turns over the fire to face head on to SoR again, but its opponent approaches it casually, as the bar begins to spin to maximum speed. Storm comes in again, trying to stop the bar before it can do any damage, but Andrew backs away his machine before Storm can make contact, and comes in at the side with the bar!
CRASH! Storm bounces across the back of SoR, and jumps briefly again as the bar makes contact a second time. It only appears to have done cosmetic damage, though, as Storm backs away and charges in again, trying to get in before the bar can spin back up to speed!
CRASH! Storm is rolled sideways again, right way up now but the paint on the sides looking rather badly chipped. Ed concentrates, ramming Storm in again at the back of SoR, and getting around the weapon supports to wedge underneath its opponent, driving it down and slamming SoR into the far wall, next to the patrol zone! SoR bounces back over the top of Storm, landing to the side as it turns to face front on to its aggressor, but Storm is already coming in on another charge...hitting the corner of SoR, but failing to get beneath the skirting, and going up and over the top of SoR! Andy sees his chance, and turns towards the patrol zone carefully, so as not to tip the high-centred Storm off the Hardox lid and let it get traction. Son Of Ripper comes into the patrol zone carrying Storm, almost as some sort of offering to the house robots, and brakes in front of Killalot, as Storm slides off down the front flipper...
FLIP! Storm goes into the air and onto the lance of the house robot, and SoR reverses away from the scene, clipping Dead Metal on its way out, and Killalot turns, propping Storm against the arena side wall. The lifter flicks up, but not doing any good pointing into the air, and Killalot gets the claw in at the rear of Storm, plucking it up into the air, and Paul is shaking his head as Ed frantically attempts to get his machine free. The house robot turns towards the flame pit, coming out and lowering a helpless Storm in to the fire, scorching the exposed underside of the robot. Killalot closes the claw further, slightly compressing one of the left hand side wheels, before backing away from the flame grid and releasing his prey. Storm falls on its wheels, and twitches before moving away, trailing smoke behind it from the grilled Vulkalon tyres, but it comes back in on SoR, ramming into the front of Andys machine before backing away, SoR charging in pursuit. Storm brakes, and turns to try and get to the rear of SoR, but is hit by the front wedge first, neither robot gaining any advantage in the wedge battle, both machines wheels spinning. The clock begins to tick down, the fight will go to the judges...and SoR is moving backwards! The six wheel drive of Storm is just overcoming the two wheel drive on SoR, who edges backwards, slowly, before breaking the deadlock and reversing away towards the side wall. Its looking like that last push has sapped the strength of these two robots, as Storm comes in again at about half speed, hitting the wedge of the sluggish SoR and just driving up it a little!
CEASE
FLIP! Storm II goes over as SoR vents gas, but that wont count in the decision which will have to be made by our panel of Joeys...uh, judges, marking on style, control, aggression and damage.
DAMAGE: SoR caused the only really discernible damage in the fight, even if it wasnt major, and Storm II took damage from the house robots and flame pit: SoR 5 (x4=20) Storm II 0
AGGRESSION: Storm II wins here, with its ramming, but SoR did manage to come on the attack at times: SoR 2 (x3=6) Storm II 3 (x3=9)
CONTROL: Storm II rammed SoR around a lot, but SoR did the same vice versa, and SoR just edges it due to getting Storm in the patrol zone: SoR 3 (x2=6) Storm II 2 (x2=4)
STYLE: SoRs flipping was probably more stylish than Storms ramming; SoR 3, Storm II 2
SoR Hex: 35
Storm II: 15
It went the distance, but primarily on damage, the winner is Andy Jackson and Son Of Ripper Hex!

The Chevron Championship
Right, thanks for the tactics...intro up now, will get the gauntlet done by the end of tonight.
FIRST, FROM SUFFOLK, AXE-O-LOTL!
A four wheel drive box wedge running from two Lynch motors giving a top speed of twenty miles an hour, Axe-O-Lotl is armed with a large diamond tipped pneumatic axe that also serves to right the robot. The weapon is powerful, and can fire forty times in a fight, with the mechanical components protected by interchangable Hardox armour plating.
FROM BEDFORD, DEATH THREAT 0.2!
Death Threat is a tracked rectangular design with a pair of horizontally mounted crushing claws at the front, actuated by hydraulics giving a tip force of over six tonnes. It runs on Bosch motors at 24 volts and NiCad battery packs, and features hinged side skirts to discourage flippers from getting in underneath, although it can run inverted as well.
FROM ENSCHEDE IN HOLLAND, FLICK OF THE WRIST!
A titanium armoured rammer with six wheel drive and 48 volt Magmotor power, Flick Of The Wrists main weapons are a pair of spikes at the front, powered by electrics that can raise and lower them to act as invertible lifters as well as being used for their traditional spiking purpose. Driving around at 22 miles an hour, Flick is invertible and very tenacious.
FROM TORONTO, IN CANADA, SHADOW ZONE RETURNS!
An unusually shaped green robot with a front scoop and rear flipper, Shadow Zone Returns is driven by S28-400 Magmotors and urethane treaded wheels for grip, giving it 18 horsepower at full throttle. Its armoured in Hardox and, while primarily a rambot, also has that rear flipping arm to self right or overturn opponents, aided by the side spikes.
FROM GAINSBOROUGH, DOOR STOPS!
And now the only clusterbot in the entire competition, each Door Stop is an invertible wedge with Lynch motor power and Hardox armour on the front, with titanium at the back to save weight. The parts are joined by a clip that can reunite the two midfight, and although neither part can damage an opponent, the machines run at 15 miles an hour and are designed for taking on spinners.
FROM ENGLAND, RUPTURE!
Finally, this compact machine has lightning acceleration and alloy skirts all around that make it extremely difficult to get under from all sides. The wide electric lifting arm is reliable, quick and can self right the robot, and its design may have been influenced by nuclear fallout shelters - its constructed from a Hardox monocoque and has compact electronics to allow for the armour to be thicker.

Axe-O-Lotl turns, and comes into the rig, adjusting itself as it moves downwards, but the space for it to travel is getting smaller, and Axe-O-Lotl is forced to edge slightly towards the saws, and just before it would have escaped, the ramp comes in underneath its 6mm ground clearance, forcing the robot onto the saws! The sparks fly from the plating, scratching up the white paintwork, but thats the least of Chriss troubles right now, as Matilda comes in with the chainsaw to cause damage, reversing up and etching a deep gouge in the front wedge! The rig opens again, though, and Axe-O-Lotl comes away from the saws, but the house robot pushes back as it comes out, forcing Axe-O-Lotl in onto the fence and beaching it again.

AXE-O-LOTLS TACTICS
Tracks are tracks, no matter what theyre made of. Aim for them and pummel them, staying away from the claw.

The Chevron Championship
Split up and keep nagging Rupture from different directions until I can get under. One Door Stop will stay under and just beach him while the other goes to open the pit, then Ill get him down it.

The Chevron Championship
Axe-O-Lotl and Door Stops to meet in the final.

May I remind people...again...that there is no pit release button. :proud: Gonna have to write something about that when I do the next series...
Fights up when I write them, so probably tonight or roundabouts.

Just found your pic. In that case, just pit him, nothing fancy:proud:

Death Threat immediately gets off to a fast start, driving out from the wall and towards the flame pit, seeking to get around the side of Axe-O-Lotl, which tentatively moves forward. The two robots turn to face each other over the arena floor, before Death Threat comes in, around the side of Axe-O-Lotl, and turns to get a grip, but Axe-O-Lotl is away before it can. Danny concentrates, turning Death Threat to face its opponent, and charging in towards Axe-O-Lotl again, who turns to escape, but cant get away in time, and Death Threat catches it broadside on in its claws, slamming it in on the left hand wall! The claws dig in, and seem to struggle against the shiny black armour plating on Axe-O-Lotl, but one of them penetrates a gap between two plates, buckling the rear chassis inwards! Chris attempts to free his stricken machine, as Death Threat reverses it away from the wall, hoping to get Axe-O-Lotl into the patrol zone or the pit, but the axe fires, jolting Axe-O-Lotl free! Death Threat turns in pursuit of the fleeing Axe-O-Lotl, who seems to have found some pace from somewhere, using it to turn and come in on Death Threat again...wedging underneath the front corner of the tracked machine! The axe comes down, glancing off the side of the Hardox bodyshell, but Death Threat is able to reverse off the front wedge, and drives suddenly in again, front to front on Axe-O-Lotl...the axe fires, striking the top plate of its aggressor, but Death Threat has the claws in on Axe-O-Lotl once more, grabbing a hold and preventing it from escaping, although the actual damage from those claws doesnt seem to be more than superficial. Death Threat can, however, carry Axe-O-Lotl around the arena, pushing it towards the upper patrol zone, its enemys axe pecking away at the top panel to little visible effect, as Death Threat powers Axe-O-Lotl into the patrol zone, slamming it against the wall! Axe-O-Lotl jumps up, landing with the front hung up on Death Threats right hand claw, ad fires the axe at the retreating Death Threat, managing to land a blow on one of the tracks, but Death Threat reverses out of the patrol zone and Shunt now comes in on Axe-O-Lotl, getting the scoop in under the six millimetre ground clearance at the back, and burying its axe in the contestant machines axe channel! Matilda is in there as well with the chainsaw, creating sparks from the plating, and Shunt tips Axe-O-Lotls body up as it retracts the axe, knocking its body sideways...but setting it free as well! Chris holds his transmitter in the air, and controls Axe-O-Lotl away, although not before Shunt is able to slam the axe into a top panel. Death Threat is waiting for its prey, coming in on Axe-O-Lotl as it escapes, and slamming it against the arena wall, in the right hand corner! The claws begin to come in again, as Axe-O-Lotls axe fires, stabbing at one of the tracks, but Death Threat has it in its grip once more, and begins to turn away from the wall, to drive its opponent in towards the pit...but Axe-O-Lotl swings the axe over again, and penetrates the left hand track on Death Threat! Danny cranes his neck to get a better look, an expression of concern on his face, but Axe-O-Lotl seems to be in problems as well - aside from being caught in the claws, it cant seem to be able to retract the axe from within its enemy! There are some brief jolts and some pushing, and Axe-O-Lotl is able to return the weapon, and now it seems to have taken control of the fight, as it struggles out of the claws of its opponent, who doesnt appear to have full drive on one side any more. Axe-O-Lotl is able to ram in under the side of Death Threat, getting it up on its wedge, and now turns towards the pit, Chris Mason sensing that he could seize victory. Death Threat tries to get some movement, but its one remaining track is spinning uselessly in the air, and the defunct one is serving as little obstacle to the charge of Axe-O-Lotl...Danny retracts his transmitter aerial, shaking his head, as Axe-O-Lotl stops on the brink of the pit, allowing Death Threat to slide down and into the void.
CEASE
After a long and hard battle, Death Threat is pitted as Chris Mason and Axe-O-Lotl go through to the heat final!

Rupture comes quickly off the mark, as the Door Stops split and head out towards their opponent. One of the Door Stops hits the front of Rupture head on, but cant get under the front blade of the lifting arm, and Rupture tips the wedge into the air, rolling the Door Stop over onto its back...the other clusterbot part is nudging the side of Rupture, but the skirt is preventing the wedge from going underneath, although the Door Stop is able to upsh Rupture down in an arc towards the flame pit as it tries to resist. The fire flickers from beneath Rupture, but causing no obvious damage to the Hardox armour as the machines move away, Andrew controlling Rupture away from the Door Stop and reversing into the lower left corner to come in for an attack. The other Door Stop comes in around the side of Rupture, though, jamming the wedge against the skirt as it tries to get underneath, while its twin drives straight at Rupture, onto the lifting arm, which raises and tips the Door Stop over...but then Frank turns his robot around, and charges in underneath the lifting arm of Rupture, ramming into the mechanics and preventing it from closing properly! Rupture now attempts to drive out of the corner, and escape the attentions of the clusterbots, but one part of the Door Stops is stuck in the front of Rupture, which doesnt seem to be able to raise the arm to free it, and the other part is nagging at the rear end of Rupture, trying to get under the skirt to push it around. Rupture reverses, ramming into the Door Stop, and turns to try and do something about the clusterbot stuck in its weapon, and the active Door Stop comes in...hitting the corner of Rupture, and breaking one of the skirts from its joint! The skirt bends downwards from the force of the Door Stop ramming into it, and allows Franks machine to get underneath the centimetre ground clearance at the right hand side of Rupture, but Andrew manages to drive off the wedge and turn face-on to the Door Stop. Its opponent backs away, almost towards the patrol zone, and comes forward again, charging at the advancing Rupture, who turns slightly to try and high centre the Door Stop on the wedge...and the clusterbot wheelies as it moves forward...but alters its course at the last second and slams into the defunct lifter mechanism on Rupture, not only getting a hold on it but also freeing its brother from the weaponry of Rupture! There is some wheelspin, as each machine attemts to get an advantage in the pushing match, the extra weight of Rupture all but cancelling out the power of the Door Stops Lynch motor drive...but the freed Door Stop comes back on the attack, and goes under the exposed front of Rupture, breaking its traction! Frank senses that victory could soon be his, as he holds his transmitter in the air, driving the Door Stop forward, carrying Rupture in the direction of the arena pit...Andrew shakes his head up in the control booth, his machines attempts to get off the ramp of his opponent thwarted by the spinning exposed wheels of the Door Stop, and he can do naught but watch as his machine is deposited at the edge of the pit, resting there for a moment with the lifter high in the air, before falling down sideways onto the tyres and out of the competition.
CEASE
After a rather exciting, if somewhat confusing fight, Rupture is overcome by the Door Stops of Frank Goacher!
