Liam who told you that? This event is the Featherweight chmpionship I was going to run back in August September. This event is only a championship for feathers it doesnt mean other weights wont be there.
The arena is being erected for inspection on the 27th December (still not heard back from the FRA about there attendence) Robots cannot fight in the arena until its been inspected feathers or heavies
Actually Craig I got the impression that it was only feathers from your post announcing it.
Quite pleased theres other weights there. Whats the format for them?
Andy
Demo mainly white board style fights to fill time not running a competition for heavies and middles and will only be taking a limited number of robots for that
let me claify
This event is the Rebel Robots Featherweight championship, its being recorded infront of a live audience,
There will be some time for a set of demo fights from heavyweights and or middleweights but these will not be recorded as a championship theyre demonstrational only
Later this year Ill run an Antweight competition and later a heavyweight/middle event, Ill run no more than 3 events and the main focus will change from event to event from one weight catagory to another
Im reluctant to run a number of heavyweights due to the event clash with Robots Live, of which i didnt know about until Marco said on this thread.
Im looking for 32 feathers, and now were up to 17, the list is on the rebel robots website
Ok so looking at the list I know the majority of machines but I was wondering who owns the following machines? (dont recognise the names)
Ramya
Smash
Suprize
Ramya you have faced before in Technnogames Gary and beat it and Pussycat 8-0 at football, Ive reused the name on my brothers Robot
Smash is on the Roaming Robots Website, I think its a 2wd rambot (seem to remember having it stuck in Tanto Jnr at the UK champs
Suprizee is John Frizells 4wd Rambot
Sweet, thanks Craig
Ive been umm-ing and err-ing over whether to enter this or not. Wasnt sure if the new drum would be ready in time and if I could finance the trip, but after seeing the list of competitors already signed up, I dont want to miss out :)
Got the whole of the Christmas hols to get Drumroll in shape - its currently in pieces to go on a diet, and Ive got the bits required to make the current drum a bit more robust in the event that I dont have the new one ready. Looking forward to an improved performance as a quick test of the Speed 900s on an old chassis at the weekend showed that they were a worthwhile investment
Get down Jamie. You dont get many chances to run drumroll as it is! :)
are you coming gary?
i think spinners may prefer this arena - well im guessing it will be a bigger area then the robochallenge arena
If I am in the country I will be and chances are looking good for an upgraded hornet being in attendance :)
does anyone know if there will there be any of these events late next year?
ive currently got 1 complete feather and another one that is being built but wouldnt want to enter them into a spinner comp. im going to make a kick ass spinner after ive finished the robot im building at the moment and it should be ready for late next year, hense the above question.
calum
Upgraded Dragonstrike

Just got to add the Ti side and rear armour
Calum - We (Robo Challenge) are currently looking at arranging some events for next year. All of our events are full combat feather events.
Tony, I want to fight it :proud:
what robot is Conundrum?
alex
It has the same type of weapon as Drumroll
If i remember rightly the drum is powered by a EV Warrior
Conundrum Mk2 is my featherweight its been around for abit but not to many events. Anyway basically it is a wedge with a drum. Tony is quite right as the weapon is EV Warrior driven.

Usually fails due to cheep 18v drill motors running 24v belt driven to quite large wheels. Now I have new decent drive motors it seems ok, just think im going to shred the plastic drill gears.
Also think I put the wrong e-mail address down, when I filled the form out.
Chris - ^_^
Ooh, will be good to see Conundrum Mk2 there. It was one of only two UK drum robots (the other being Glen Dohertys Zero) that I knew existed at a time when I was looking around for ideas and pictures to use as guidance when designing Drumroll. Id welcome the chance to go drum-to-drum :)
Chris, if youve got any spare drill gearboxes kicking around, why not replace the plastic gears with some metal ones from the spares? I shredded some of the teeth in Drumroll after the FW champs in May and since I replaced them with metal ones Ive had no problems.
I agree with Jamie. Drop the plastic gears and go all metal.
I did that as soon as hornet was first built. Left me with two gearboxes with all metal gears and one with all plastic. The way I look at it, if a gearbox fails its generally the case that goes or the shaft not the metal gears.
I am REALLY looking forward to this event. Especially if I can implement all the upgrades I have planned for hornet! No messing around this time, I am taking part to win :)
I cant wait either now
got some more good news coming this week
Any more news
yea Im still waiting for confirmation from the host but he has agreed, its just getting the paperwork from him
aside from that Ive worked on the show format and format of the competition
Im going to use the Antweight style competition, Robots will fight in a double elimination competition style event,
to space out the final so that the surviving robots can be repaired there will be 3 melees for all the first round losers 2nd and 3rd round losers.
looking for 9 more robots to complete the draw and am looking into maybe running some heavyweights if theres time
All new combat rules that will go up on the site today, be prepared its very different to the other events
Will update as and when news comes
I dont know if its just me or not but http://www.rebel-robots.com/http://www.rebel-robots.com/ isnt working at the moment for some reason.
I cant get on it either:sad:
I can
not just you the server was down not long come back online
I couldnt get to my emails from them either, it seems to spend more time down than running, think its time to move to a new server
rules are online too
hmmm a very interesting format and one that will take a bit of getting used to.
The upside for me is that if I throw myself out the arena I get put back in....hoorah! :proud:
how many times can a robot be flipped out before the fight is over? if its til 3 mins of actual fighting has taken place the robots may be out the arena for longer then the fight lol
So I gain a point for every time I ram a robot against a wall. While flipping OOTA doesnt mean you win the match, just get a point.
Dam I wish I could enter trojan into this comp. I would actually feel confident!
Craig I take it that knocking an opponent out ie disabling them counts as an automatic win?
Stupid question but I dont normally go for the softly push an opponent around approach with hornet :)
Correct Marco cant you make it for just the saturday?
yea Gary you kill em you win simple as that
There is not pit its a plain arena
LJ there is no limit to the amount of oota per fight althou i think like in boxing if the oppenent isnt giving a good resistance aka not fighting back then the fight will be stopped
Couldnt imagine a scenario where you could softly push an opponent around with Hornet
A different format certainly, but an interesting way to mix it up. Its got the potential for some very tactical battles to unfold, so should be enjoyable.
Considering that, I think a 4WD robot with a lifter has potential to do well, so Ill gonna enter Kaizer Mk3 alongside Drumroll :)
Got the chassis materials ordered, should hopefully fly together easily over Christmas.
Just out of interest, what is the size of the inner red square?
the arena inside is 7m by 7m line is a 4m by 4m square plenty of room
what happens if you push someone over the line but in doing so go over the line yourself is that a point for your opponenet? i might have missed this point sorry if i have overlooked it
alex
the point is the force
you can cross the line so long as you push someone else over the line youll get a point if you cross the line without being hit or just by bad driving then you dont get a point
if 2 robots clash together and both spin off and cross the line both will receive a point eg, a spinner vs a brick the impact sends both robots shooting off across the arena
We talking about Gary again..
