+2>LET THE EYE OF THE ROBOT-SERIES 3 BEGIN!!!!
Heat 1
ROUND ONE
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Panicking vs. M2
Ramthrax 2 (17) vs. Seung Mina III vs. Disc-O-Inferno
+1>From Scotland, seeded #1, WHIRLIGIG 4.0!!
-1>Entered by Steven McGregor
Coming back from a successful win over the 95 other robots last year, Whirligig 4.0 hopes to add another collection of robot parts to his trophy cabinet! This dull yellow coloured robot isn€™t really that dull, sporting two high traction shuffling plates to give speeds of 15mph, giving completely unrivalled acceleration and control. But those aren€™t the least of your worries when its 2cm Titanium ring weighing 33kg with 9 sharpened teeth spins at its maximum velocity of 2000rpm, allowing the shell to send 183kj of energy into you, enough to tear your robot inside-out! If that€™s not the least of your worries, then the 2cm of Titanium is - as it€™s impervious to almost any attack. Despite all this though, the invertible body allows for over-head attacks to be fatal€¦
In E.O.T.R 1: Had a lethal Round One battle with Die-Ceratops ReInvertus and MORD2. MORD2 was targeted out by both robots, but Whirligig caused too much pain to the wheels on Die-Ceratops, meaning Chris€™ uber flipper went out. In the second Round of the heat, drawn against Wedga Revo, Whirligig hit it repeatedly with attacks, and finally shock-killed it. MORD2 put up an equally weak challenge and had his batteries torn out and littered over the arena. In the final 12 though, we were given an unbelievable shock, when Terrorhurtz snagged Whirligig onto the wall and hammered the pads to hell, taking him out.
In E.O.T.R 2: (SEEDED 8) In another terrifying Round One battle against SUNCUST and Die-Ceratops ReInvertus (again), SUNCUST was badly beaten by the seed, who ripped panels off SUNCUST, before the American was sent OOTA by Die-Ceratops. Whirligig then went through a very tough battle with a very powerful spinner-killer called €˜Anti-Spin€™. Whirligig beat Anti-Spin at its own game though and its aggressive tactics won it the 50-25 JD. In the Heat Final against Die-Ceratops ReInvertus, Steven almost went OOTA multiple times, but soon he managed to mangle the tyres like last time to win through the semi-finals. In Round Four, it took on fellow ring-spinner, Roo 2, and engaged in a fast battle in which multiple hits were exchanged, but Roo died first, meaning Whirligig went through. 4th seed Black Panther Queen was its opponent in the last round before the final, and they had a one-sided contest that meant Whirligig won the 49-26 JD to make it through to the finals! In the Eliminators, outsider and 22nd seed Achilles made for a joyous plaything for Steven, who destroyed the gas bottle, before Achilles was over-turned by the hazards, leaving Whirligig in the Grand Final, where it performed in a brilliant final clash against 2nd seed and real robot Storm 2, where they fought to the death, but the power of Whirligig was too much and Steven took home the title!
+1>From Kelvedon, Panicking!!
-1>Entered by Martyn Forsyth
The first robot from Martyn€™s garage is one that has built up an extreme reputation as the finest Panic Attack clone in the vapourobteering world, as well as the only. The robot is basically Panic Attack shaped, with Panic Attack€™s weaponry, a pair of lifting forks. But that€™s the only relation to the real robot, as this has 6 wheel drive powered by 4 x S28-400€™s at 24V, giving 24hp! The robot is strong in terms of design and in terms on armour, it€™s only got 5mm of Hardox, which almost nothing can take advantage of. The only problem is the design is quite old€¦
In E.O.T.R 1: Didn€™t enter.
In E.O.T.R 2: Disappointed in Round One, where it was rammed and smashed into submission by Mega Masher 2 and smashed up by 23rd seed Psyclonised, until nothing was left.
From Hampshire, M2!!
-1>Entered by Dave Sheppard/Paul Cooper
Prepare to hit the road! This robot is a special case as it scored the first 2 OOTA€™s of Robot Wars S7, and it did that by using its 2 x 750w Bosch motors to give off 20mph and using the low-pressure flipper to get under and toss everything away. The speed and flipper is nothing to be argued with, but it has a strong chassis but weak, see-through armour€¦

And so E.O.T.R starts up in style with all robots charging straight into the arena centre! M2 is struggling a bit on the steel floor and the Champion takes full advantage of that and crashes into the Polycarp armour of M2 and flings it into the arena wall, leaving some scarring marks, but Steven feeling in a blood-thirsty mood rushes in and uses his blades to cause full damage - the whole side armour is pierced and ripped fully off! The panel stays on the floor as Panicking rams in, with the spikes parallel to the ground, and charges them INTO the side of M2! Martyn reverses out with M2 on the spikes as Whirligig 4.0 scuttles into the sides again and rips another panel into shreds, as well as flinging the combined weight of Panicking and M2 into the pit release button! The siren echoes around the arena, as Panicking turns and gets ready to charge M2 down the pit, but M2 is no longer on the spikes, but now impaled against the wall! Panicking swiftly turns around and the Champion can be seen going for M2 as well, and Whirligig gets there first and bashes the side to hell again, but also hits Panicking€™s lifters! The forks are bent out of shape, but so is M2€™s armour - and Steven goes in for more! Another blow and the entire rear protection is just torn out, and Whirligig hits in again, this time it hits the inner workings! It tears out a wheel which rolls away and down the pit. Smoke is now being emitted from the battered workings of M2, but it still seems to be moving slightly, but a ramming blow by Panicking charges it right up the arena! Whirligig comes in again to score a dent on Panicking€™s rear and also bashes the flipping arm of M2! The arm that was never used in the fight is ripped clean out! It lies on the floor, as M2 doesn€™t seem to be moving now. The countdown starts as Whirligig powers down the spinning ring as him and Panicking go into a victory spin.

M2 hits the road home!
WHIRLIGIG 4.0 (1) AND PANICKING GO THROUGH TO ROUND TWO!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------
+1>From Geddington, seeded #17, Ramthrax 2!!
-1>Entered by Alex Holt
Fed up of killing wildlife, Ramthrax is now going for robots! This robot is a powerhouse of traction and power combined, using 6 wheels coated with Vulkalon, allow for the ultimate in terms of tractions, and it also has 2 x B42-500 Magmotors at 48V, allowing for massive amounts of horsepower! On the front is a massive concave Hardox plate, designed to kill FBS€™s, which it€™s designed to take on and to stop spinners, it has 4mm Tungsten Steel skirts on the sides. In the scoop as well are two actuators which can lift a 100kg robot 5cm off the ground, allowing for a bigger ram. Despite all this, although the armour on the front is the toughest ever in vapourbot history, the sides, top and rear armour is 3mm Titanium€¦
In E.O.T.R 1: Didn€™t enter.
In E.O.T.R 2: Had an easy Round One battle after pitting TIRTASM with helping from reigning champ Killotine: EVO. In Round Two, it was tougher when 17th seed FireStorm 5 pinned it on the walls, and got ready for an OOTA, but Alex escaped and dumped FireStorm down the pit! It met the Champion Killotine: EVO in the Heat A final, and it went totally wrong as Steven€™s axe robot took out the control box, leaving Mr. Holt€™s robot dead in the arena.
+1>From Toronto, Canada, Seung Mina III!!
-1>Entered by Kody Kunz
Whatever it means it must be dangerous - just like this robot! It€™s a wedge robot with sloped sides and rear to make them spinner-proof, and it can get up to 17mph, giving massive speed. It has shock-proofing inside to stop spinners shock-killing it. The flipper is made of 8mm Titanium and the body is made of 3.25 Hardox. The electrics are protected from attackers by a piece of Hardox that is over the gaps when the flipper opens. Overall, a tough design, but if something gets under it, it€™ll be easily flipped.

+1>From Cambridge, Disc-O-Inferno!!
-1>Entered by Christopher Mason/Mark Marshall
Do you want to dance the dance of death? You may well have to when drawn against Disc-O-Inferno! A polycarbonate box with a 30kg 1000rpm disc, designed to cause massive damage to realies armour. It can also move at 30mph and is driven by 2 wheels. Despite all this though, it has multiple faults, including the high ground clearance, the poor pushing power and the fact that the disc can€™t damage the armour on vapourbots!

A speeding Ramthrax bursts from starting place and hits the disc of DOI as Kody of Team Zlayerz joins him on the assault! Chris is immediately worried by this as Alex catches DOI on the scoop and then instantly runs it into the Hardox spikes! Suddenly BANG! DOI takes a bit of damage from the spikes as Alex backs off and allows Kody to get the flipper underneath, and an almightily impressive flip sends the realie 5ft into the air! DOI lands inside the arena and drives away into the side of Ramthrax, with the disc spinning at maximum revs. Damage is sustained by the seed, but it now rams into DOI again, this time into the disc! Kody suddenly charges at Ramthrax, but the skirts keep it safe, so Alex spins around and drives Seung Mina over the flipping spikes! Seung Mina is thrown over Ramthrax and lands on its wheels. DOI charges in, but Ramthrax, calmly controlled by Alex, charges in and stops the disc before backing away into the pit release button! Chris now tries to spin up the disc - but it won€™t spin! Ramthrax now charges behind DOI and pushes it into Seung Mina! Kody turns around and pushes DOI towards the side and a flip sends the realie OOTA!
Result:
Disc-O-Inferno won€™t be dancing for some time!
RAMTHRAX 2 (17) AND SEUNG MINA III GO THROUGH TO ROUND TWO!!
ROUND TWO:
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Seung Mina III
Ramthrax 2 (17) vs. Panicking
Tactics, prodictions, opinions, some hobnobs :proud:
Better fights than before Paul, along with good introductions. Am hopping that the second round will be slightly longer fights, with the vapours more equaly matched, as the real robots were really only ever going to be a bit more than fodder in this heat.
Ramthrax 2 (17) vs. Panicking (me)
Could be an intresting fight here, i think i will be able to get under the front with the forks, and that way I will be able to lift the wheels of Ramthrax off the ground thus be able to push it easily and hopfuly pit it
not that bad paul, not at all
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Seung Mina III
Yeah, Seung Mina is a nice flipper but Whirligig is the champ and a very dangerous FBS, as well as invertible. Seung Mina to lose a panel or two :proud:.
Ramthrax 2 (17) vs. Panicking
Pfff, two nice rambots here. Ramthrax more power I believe, but Panickings weapon could nulify this, if Martyn manages to get it in.
HEAT A
ROUND 2
Seung Mina II VS WHIRLIGIG 4.0 (1)
Spin up, head for the sides and kill it.
Whirligig doesnt do indepth tactics. You lot know that by now.
Good fights, but make them a bit longer please. :proud:
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Seung Mina III
Um......damn you. :proud:
...box rush, get under, flip repeatedly until death or OOTA. I have limited hopes.
Ramthrax II (17) vs. Panicking Still?
Panicking to get under Ramthrax and shove it down the pit after a struggle.
OMG - here are the Round Two battles!

Whirligig starts to scuttle away from the incoming wedge of Seung Mina, but Kody now speeds AT the champions spinning ring! An unwise move, as Whirligig has now got the shell up to speed and the teeth impact on the flipper - no damage. But we see damage now - the flipper hinges are now jammed upright! Seung Mina has lost its weapon! Steven now presses onto the right-rear corner and targets the edges of the panels, and the teeth lash onto a panel and the ring then rips it almost off, as it hangs on by a tether! Kody is starting to panic, so now uses the rear of Seung Mina to reverse onto Whirligig, stopping the spinner and pushing it into the pit release button! Kody turns around, but Steven drives away from Seung Mina and spins the shell up once more, and now goes for the battered side€¦CRASH!! The Hardox panel is seen bent and buckled on the arena floor! Whirligig now goes in at the exposed side, but Kody quickly turns away from the ring with a stylish turn and runs away to the arena sidewall. Whirligig chases him down and hits the back-end into the arena wall. With Seung Mina distracted, Whirligig gets two big hits on the rear, AND THE PANEL IS BENT INWARDS! Seung Mina seems to be struggling, but now turns out and, suddenly, the flipper plate comes down! Kody can be heard to yell €˜YES!€™ from the Booth as he pushes Whirligig into the wall and attempts an OOTA, but the Champion slides away! Another ram and Whirligig is once again stopped and now gets a massive flip€¦

Seung Mina flips again, scoring plenty of points in the final few seconds€¦
€¦8€¦7€¦
Steven drives away again, and bashes the flipper with the ring...
€¦6€¦5€¦
Kody€™s robot now is flung away across the steel floor€¦
€¦4€¦3€¦
Whirligig 4.0 now gets another blow on the rear, denting it more€¦
€¦2€¦1€¦CEASE!!!
Woo-hoo! An excellent fight, and the first JD in ages! But who gets the points?
Dominance: Both robots had equal moments of domination, but the more powerful attacks by Whirligig earns it the points
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 9 x 6 = 54
Seung Mina III: 5 x 6 = 30
Damage: Whirligig caused ALL the damage in this fight.
Whirligig 4.0 (1) = 10 x 5 = 50
Seung Mina III = 0 x 5 = 0
Aggression: Seung Mina came back strongly at the end, but the more frequent, violent attacks by Team Braveheart earn them the points.
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 10 x 4 = 40
Seung Mina III: 5 x 4 = 20
Strategy: Not much strategy here, but Whirligig succeeded with its strategy.
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 6 x 3 = 18
Seung Mina III: 5 x 3 = 15
Control: Whirligig was more controlled in its attacks, and Kody did leave his robot open to an attack at the end.
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 9 x 2 = 18
Seung Mina III: 7 x 2 = 14
Style: Seung Mina showed a lot of style at the end, winning it this category.
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 6 x 1 = 6
Seung Mina III: 10 x 1 = 10
Totals:
Whirligig 4.0 (1): 186
Seung Mina III: 89
Undoubtedly, the JD goes to WHIRLIGIG 4.0!
Result:
Seung Mina III fails to do much in this life!

The robots have equal traction, but the lower speed of Panicking allows Martyn€™s speedy robot to get away first! Alex controls his robot onto the front left corner of Panicking and drives forward, using the greater power and the entire arena vibrates with the force of the slam! This doesn€™t stop Panicking as he drives forwards with the forks lowered, and charges at the front, gets the spikes under, but Ramthrax reverses away from danger, and now pushes Panicking over the spikes, and they fire Panicking right on top of Ramthrax€™s scoop! Ramthrax now slams it into the wall, and sparks fly away from Panicking, but Panicking is still balancing on the scoop! Alex now reverses across the arena, into the pit release button! The siren sounds, and now Ramthrax edges forwards, and now Panicking slides down into the pit!
Result:
Panicking bottles out!
RAMTHRAX 2 (17) GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!!
HEAT FINAL:
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Ramthrax 2 (17)
Send in your tactics and predictions! And some chicken :proud:
Bah, once again proving my point that champs always make it through to at least the heat final. (well actually it was the series semi-finals but you get the point :proud:) Good mauling Paul, anyway. :proud:
Whirligig 4.0 (1) vs. Ramthrax 2 (17)
Bye Ramthrax.
(Message edited by kodster on January 31, 2008)
Ramthrax is designed to kill spinners, but can he stop Whirligig? Some good hits anywhere other than the front might finish of the rambot
I thus intend to keep my frotn forward at all times.... just ram it constantly, regardless of how spun up it is,just hit it as hard and fast as I can manage and slam it around, dont give it any room to breath.
I expect Whirly to go through, but I think Ramthrax should go through.
Umm...same tactics as always? :proud:
Right - with all the tactics sent in, I can now complete Heat 1, befor emoving onto the rest of the competition! So...here goes...:uhoh:

Straight away, the dangerous Whirligig starts to spin up the ring. But Alex is quickly covering ground and SMASHES INTO THE RING! The ring throws Ramthrax away from Whirligig after that blow, and Steven chases it down to get a blow on the 3mm Titanium body! An entire sheet of metal is ripped away, as the audience whoops the champion! This seems to encourage Alex to smash into the fully spun-up ring, and stop it! He now lifts Whirligig off the ground and can now be seen driving at full force! BANG! Whirligig is smashed into the wall with so much force that the entire arena vibrates under the force! Ramthrax backs off and Whirligig scuttles away, ring spinning and makes for another blow to the sides, but the speed of Ramthrax overcomes the control of Steven€™s robot, and now rams into it again, now into the pit release button! Alex now slowly turns his robot around, trying to keep Whirligig on the scoop! He€™s succeeded! And now Alex has the Champion on a direct line with the pit! Ramthrax lifts Whirligig up off the ground, and now charges it onto the edge of the pit, before shifting slightly to one side, AND NOW THE CHAMPION SLIDES DOWN THE PIT!! Ramthrax now reverses into the centre of the arena and spins around in the centre of the ring in a victory spin, whilst Whirligig 4.0 lies in a smoking pit in the bottom of the pit!
Result:
Whirligig 4.0 (1) goes spinning into a fit and spins away from the competition!
RAMTHRAX 2 (17) GOES THROUGH TO THE SERIES SEMI-FINALS!!
Next Time:
HEAT 2
Achilles (3) vs. Super Gore Evo vs. Liar 2
Hypertension Mk.3 (19) vs. Eternia vs. BBAP 5
Send in tactics, predictions, opinions, and a PSP:proud:
Well...that was unexpected. I am proven wrong! :proud: Excellent fight there Paul. :proud:
Achilles vs. Super Gore Evo vs. Liar 2
I am actually not quite afraid of either of the two. Their flippers are quite powerful but my skirt strips should protect my sides and rear, and the strips are close together, meaning that theyll have a hard time getting under all the strips that are in their width. And since Super Gore Evo is invertible anyway, even if it does get flipped Ill still be good to go. :proud:
For this battle, Ill use the clamping claws. Attack Achilles, that boxy shape seems nice to get my claws around. :proud: Grab it, squeeze it with my excellent 3.5 tonnes of pressure, and push it towards the pit, my traction should be better than his because of the tracks, and I might even lift him off the ground while clamping. Dunk it in the pit ASAP. If Liar 2 sticks his face in, or is being a real pest, try to clamp onto a wheel and shove down the pit as well. :proud: This match isnt too bad for me at all.
Hypertension Mk.3 (19) vs. Eternia vs. BBAP 5
Not sure. When Martyn gets the stats up for BBAP 5, then well see.
Achilles vs. Super Gore Evo vs. Liar 2
Get underneath stuff and flip it in the air Id say. Super Gores spiked skirts should be easier to get under than regular skirts as there are corners everywhere. Achilles I can get underneath from all the corners as well as the back. Achilles might make the better target of the too as Super Gore is invertible. My invertibility should keep me save from Achilles weapon and my shape keeps me relatively save from Super Gores weapon. Also, with these 2 involved, only get near the pit when I can give someone the final nudge.
Im going to go for a different tactic than I have for a while, go for the hydraulics (which include the gripping claw) pick one of them up and dump it somewhere unpleasant is my order of the day.
Thanks for the recent good comments Ive been given for my battles. All I need to get Heat 2 started is the stats for BBAP 5 and tactics from everyone in the second fight (Matty, Leo and Martyn)
Heh, you could be waiting a little bit then. :)
you shall enjoy a wait till monday for stats from me due to me living in mulipul places lol
Im just commenting to bring this competition back into the light of attention, and to press for stats and tactics from Matt, Leo and Martyn (I also need the stats for BBAP 5).
i don;t have time to do stats for BBAP5 so is it okay if i replace it with call out hook
NAME- Call out hook (thanks to Matty. H for help with the weapon description)
SHAPE- low box wedge (like storm 2 but not invertible)
COLOUR- white
WEIGHT- 100kg
SPEED- 23mph
TURNING CIRCLE- 0mm
GROUND CLEARANCE- 0mm at front wedge, 0mm at sides due to skirts 6mm with out 6mm at rear, varies under weapons
ARMOUR- 4mm hardox
WHEELS- 6 inner Vulcalon wheels
POWER- 2 x S28-400€™s Magmotors on 24v.
WEAPONS- Weapon- On the top of the machine, there is a 360-degree rotating turret, on which can be mounted 2 weapons. The first one is a large CO2 powered lifting arm, running off a 80mm ram at a pressure of 750psi. It has a hook shaped arm on the end, which is designed to pull up and puncture wheels, whilst lifting at the same time, and also to enable it to penetrate skirts. This ought to lift around 268kg around 40cm into the air at maximum. The other weapon that can be chosen is a double-headed horizontal axe shaped like that of Terrorhurtz, which will spin around on the turret, enabling him to do both damage by spinning and hammering. This should be enough to cut thin titanium, and dent the thicker sheets. The turret is powered by a LEM 130 geared at 4:3 giving good speed it spins at around 2000rpm and reaches it in around 3-4seconds
SRIMECH- the lifting arm which can self right from any position due to the turret
STRENGTHS- good weapons, good pushing power
WEAKNESSES- if the arm is spinning round slowly it may topple
as it makes my life 10 times easier
Hang on a minute... Paul, I think you should ban Tims robot Counter. No offense to him, but according to the robotwars rules, (basically all the robot combat rules) there is to be no corrosives, firearms, or aany of that kind of stuff. Again, Im not doing this to offend anyone, but I am just letting you know.
I already have. Its been replaced by Tough As Nails
Eternias tactic is simple, get an opponent on the flipperarm, then get him towards the arena wall and flip it oota as soon as possible. I am not going to go into mega flipfests in the middle of the arena because that is a pure waste of gas.

Meh. Its sad to see this turn into a hypo, but then a lot of people like Steve, Tony, and Matty have done hypos as well due to issues, so its all right. I do hope E.O.T.R 4 doesnt turn out the same, though, as your fights were getting much better. :)
On another note, 2nd place! WOOT! :proud: As this tournament was a regular tournament unlike the last two I will count this in my records. :proud:

ironic how you finish E.O.T.R. 1 and 2 within a few days, while your most exciting work so far has to suffer this fate
guess it had to be done this way, though we would all have understood it when you delayed this for a month or so
congrats to Alex for winning the tournament, and congrats to Kody as well for winning silver (and Steve for winning bronze and Leo for winning... a wooden spoon?)
your work is in an upward spiral Paul, sure hope you continue this and deliver one hell of an EOTR 4 when youre ready for it
oh well, its too bad it had to end like that. Id rather wait a while and read the matches (win or lose) than just get some stats. But I do understand, and school does come first.
And 4th place is not bad I suppose. Congrats to Alex and Kody and Steve.
Im not the best person to comment on this, as I have started tournaments and ended them very quickly myself numerous times in the past. But could you not just delay this for a while? Exactly how long do you expect it to take to choose options? You obviously arent under that much pressure, because a) you found time to write out a whole hypothetical tournament b) you just started a whole new tournament and c) in the new thread you stated you had the day off. Could that time not have been used to choose options, do work or write battles? A bizzare hypothetical as well, and some strange results. Im confused...
i would love to know how robots with no stats have done so well
A hypothetical tournament made it easier for him to kill off all 8 Infusions
Thats my theory...
