Eeek, with the RR arena inside... that sound weird. I assume itll have the flip-out area were familar with though so perhaps thatd be the reason for it (RR arena in the middle with no polycarb)?

to have a class 2 arena you must have a 1.5m area between the arena and the polycarb, and the BTP arena didnt so i guess thats why. I dont want to been seen as making things up but this is what ive heard
the answer to your questions is:
The internal Roaming Robots arena will be as it is currently with the addition of some extra strength, including another layer of 5mm steel on the kickplate giving a total of 10mm, and some hidden strength in the internal structure. This will be the same configuration as what was going to be used for the Euro Champs last year if it had gone ahead.
The outer screening will be 10mm polycarb on a new very substantial outer / roof structure giving us 2m of exclusion zone all the way round the arena for safety.
This configuration will only be used for the UK Champs, and/or for any future full combat events we have planned in the future as it requires two trucks to transport it.
I hope this answers the questions.
John
It does for me, thank you Jonno.
Jonno, what grade of steel, what chemical mix of polycarb, your inside leg and your bank account details are some questions that spring to my mind.
Awaiting your most prompt reply as usual.
Mike.
I worry about you mike, I really do!
mike ive sent all the info required via Pigeon.. ok ??
Let me know when it arrives and ill come round for tea !!!

Jonno, will you be allowing 2.4ghz transmitters from now on?
errrr I think my cat just eat it
The transmitter? Best take it to the vet
yes,
as far as im aware the test on the 2.4Ghz was succesful, hopefully kane can clarify this.
So yes i will be allowing it.
John
Im happy with the transmitter... think Geoffs happy with the transmitter.
Works perfectly buried inside the robot.
If Jonnos happy we can use the DX6 at his events then Ill quite happily recommend people use it at his events.
Yep, Im very happy with it too. Just put it in Small Torque and it works a treat, even buried behind 6mm of titanium!
P.S. Simon, what sort of range do you get with the cat!! :)

Thats my que to order one i think.
typical, just ordered a new 40mhz set yesterday :)
What happened to 1 robot per team per weight class. Looking at the list this does not seem true. As each of our team members have there own robots they wanted to enter them but could not as it said 1 robot per team per weight class. So Teamdragon is withdrawing Dragonstrike from the featherweight comp for the sake of team peace.
just brought a dx6 for £129 aprox $199
i tested kennys at fairford seemed very good

Ok, my response !!!
Up until RIAT last year, we didn€™t have a problem with teams entering more than one robot in each weight category.
However, when I run a competition at the largest Air Show, one of our premier events, and we get to the final of the competition, one team has managed to get all three of their robots into the final, only for them to make a mockery of the whole thing by a) letting someone else drive one of the robots, b) not even attack each other and dance around like a bunch of fairies, leading to audience wondering what the point of the competition was€¦ then I feel we DO have a problem.
The rule was quite simply made for one team, and I have been open and told them so many times as they openly admit they would never fight full on against each other!
If you look at the main teams with more than one robot apart from the one in question€¦€¦
Dantomkia / Scorpion
Batter / scorpion jn / pillow
Merlin / UFO
Alpha / G3
Dragon / other dragons
Each one of those has always fought as separate teams and not as one unit
Each one would in a final or any round of a competition, fight to the death and WOULD NOT MAKE A MOCKERY OF A COMPETITION. And have done before !!
Most of the above teams, have split themselves up, they will enter their own robots, under their own teams, under their own membership, and WILL fight as separate teams.
I am interested if anyone has a solution to this problem, but there is only one team which create it, even since RIAT last year, their has been fights with very little combat, robots pulled out, and even at XFM this weekend, I believe the same was true, and nothing has changed, there is a problem.
If they were to enter as 3 separate teams, and fight as 3 separate teams, and actually fight to the death then there wouldn€™t be a problem at all, and I wouldn€™t be writing this,.
What am I to do, put yourself in an event organisors position.
Tony , I€™m sorry if you feel strongly, I would be very interested in your solution to my problem, I want to see as many robots fight as possible.
A question for you, could you sit and watch the final of the uk champs, where hundreds of people have paid good money to watch this all out championship, and the three robots don€™t touch each other??? And feel proud to be trying to take our sport forward in terms of events, and not letting it die€¦. Cause I wont.
I hope you see things from my side and we don€™t loose your application.
Answers on a postcard !!!

And that is exactly why i have not built a damaging robot! If i ever came nto a final against james, i would not have ANY worry about going full on against him, and the same back. I have already spoken to james about when predator is finished and we are both willing to fight each other full on to test our machines and compete to be the best!
I hope team dragon do attend the event, and everyone else for that matter!
Sorry, where is the list of signed up robots?
the list is on the Roaming Robots website, under events - uk champs - roboteers section. its all in there!
Is predator/venom competing Grant?
(Message edited by ewan on July 27, 2006)
COURSE NOT.
interesting thing is captain scarlet though. against ploughbot, i think they fit into the catagories above, in that all out is not in question,as neither is likely to be damaging, so i think jonno will see no problem in having both in the competition.
Like James said Ewan lol
Venom is purely for shows, it needs to work on a daily basis so i cant let customers down by getting it damaged at an event. Predator, Its no where near finished, hopefully for crimbo.
In any circumstance if grant and i were drawn against each other we have all agreed that we would go all out. whether grants against Venom, Captian Scarlet or Predator. Well known case of this was at the brynteg event we held a few years back when Venom and Ploughbot were drawn in the first round. Venom got his gearbox torn apart! But it was fine because as soon as the bots are in the arena they are their to win, who ever they are against.
point to be made, Grant and i are on completely separate teams. We have paid separatly for our FRA and Roaming Robots membership so there should be no issue with ploughbot and captain scarlet entering. We are both out there to win and beat each other!
bot draws today I believe?
:-)
i think this will be the first event ever that my robot will be finished atleast a day before :) (i hope lol)
Looking forward to seeing how the heats set up!
Will photos of the registered bots be posted on the RR site?
Doubt it,
Best indication of the bots going would be to look at event reports on peoples sites- all the ushual faces are going:)
Hi Wendy, nice to meet you.
Cant wait to see you and matt in August.
Hope you have a safe trip over.
cant really do pictures as well lots of peoples robots are changing and so forth, also quite a few of the robot teams who have entered are brand new so its all wait and see. But as dave said, best to look at event reports, most robots have their names on their robot these days.
Mr Stu
Would be usefull if people put pics in their profiles and write abit about them in the database!

One week to go until the draw is published.
The draw for pods and heat days will be posted here at 7pm BST next Friday.
A completed set of event regulations and any other competion rule changes will also be published on the roaming robots site at the same time.
Those teams that have applied for FRA membership since Fairford will be able to get their membership cards at Wicksteed.
I wish you all, the best of luck for the competion with the kindest of draws.
Any need for old washing machines etc to be smashed up as demo items?
If so I have one that could be brought over.
Would not be able to bring it for the finals weekend though.
