22nd - 24th July European Championships 2005

Arrangements are going more or less as planned. The Game Extreme event is growing all the time. Now there will also be a DJ competition, whatever that may be :-)
Euro2005 will also be filmed for Dutch tv and maybe a Swiss documentary.

Ordering tickets for audience has been improved;

In English, Dutch and German, Euro or Pound, via credit card, so it shouldnt be any problem.

What we now need are a couple more heavyweight entries. Not all of you that where so positive at the start of this thread have appplied yet, please do so as soon as possible.
We may be able to help out with transporting a few heavyweight robots. If transportation is your problem, please let us know.

We received a request to organise a tournament for 6 kg robots. Is there any interest in that here? Please let me know.

Blazer have fallen by the wayside and John (Steel Sandwich) has been away for a while, although I suspect that he is merely spending some time with a real life whatever that may be.

Could someone with local knowledge confirm exactly where the RAI centre is? Its not clear from the map on the RAI website:

Which train station is it nearest to, Station Amsterdam-RAI south of the A10, or RAI north of the A10:

Ed just pointed out to me that on the PDF map, north is to the right... this makes things rather more clear. Obviously a cunning plan to confuse foreigners. So the RAI centre is north of the A10.

Hi John,
The station is located between the 2 lanes of the motorway. There are signs that will point you in the right direction. If I remember well, you turn left from the stairs coming down from the platform, leave the station, take the tunnel on the left, then the tunnel to the right and you will see the RAI complex meters away. Or you can ask anyone there.

We are currently developing the competition model. Please prepare for at least 2 fights per robot.
We will also set up an arena for 6kg raptors; 2.5 x 2.5 meters with Polycarb, so full contact. Just for the fun of it.

How fast can you charge them? :)

I have problems buying new batteries. They are not arrived yet, then now i have only one pack.

Gherardo: If you go far in the competition we will try to keep a minimum time of 1.5 hours between fights.

What batteries do you use ? If needed people can borrow batteries to you during the event, or we could find new ones for you in our countries to purchase.

we dont have a scedule as not all entries are in.

Also, all classes are welcome. We even use a seperate arena for the Full Combat with the Raptors.

Could the middles be towards the back. Childcare responsibilities may delay me.

Have a spare bed in a room at the Holiday Inn opposite the RAI Center in Amsterdam. £29 per night for anyone whos interested as sadly Meral cant make it to the European Champs ......

Stu I was not trying to be funny, I just know that Babeth is trying to improve her language so I was trying to help, although learning language from me is probably not the best thing, as I am dyslexic. Hence my spelling is probably the worst around.

What has happened to the Steel Sandwich?

They had some problems and can only take their featherweights.

I could provide transport for the Sandwich from the UK if it would help.

It is quite important that the Steel Sandwich goes. There is a danger that middleweights will go the way of the lightweights and become extinct.

As it is, it has been two years since middleweights battled in Europe (in a major competition anyway)

As far as I know there are several middleweights in retirement still intact out there somewhere.

Julian, I am hoping that my under construction heavyweight will be able to go under some simple modifications and battle in the middleweight class.

You and 259 bust pretty much all the others. Extreme 2 was the middleweights finest hour. Im still kicking myself for not taking Broadsword I instead of II. A tactical error of the highest order.

Julian, typhoon was retired a long while ago and now team typhoon is no longer involved in combat robotics.

Gary, it must be sitting somewhere, undamaged after its final fight. Go on, you know that you want to. British champion is one thing, European champion is something else.

It was a great shame that I entered an unprepared version II and not an already battle tested version I. The only advantage II had was drive, everything else was in Is favour.

With a little extra armour over the batteries version I did the series 6 tryouts fighting as a heavyweight at only 52 kg.

Marien, Ive edited it down to 50s but Team Pillow Torque IS a bit special :proud: Jenny will send it on.

Julian i am afraid that typhoon is now in parts and the insides have been sold on.

The shell is sitting in our atc sqn fairly undamaged but it is used for parents evening and award ceremony type things now.

Julian My suggestiong is you get 4 feathers to make a cluster bot and take you on :)
