Tactics up later, just yet me try to do something with my firewall, which ATM is going haywire.
I will post my tactics before each heat, because it will be easier.
Matt, which Magmotor do you use on El Persistence?
Aaron, what locomotion and weaponry will you be using on Infusion? You said you were going to damage The Disc, but you also said your flipper was designed to use against him, and you didnt mention the locomotion you would be using.
Heat K
Forcepower Turbo (28) vs Disconstructor vs El Persistence (Me) vs The Raven
Go for Disconstructor and slam him around the arena as much as possible. Then go for Forcepower and try to do the same.
Sorry, no can do. :)
Sorry for the delay all. Stats and crappy Paint pics galore:)
Robot 1
Name: The Crashing Bore
Shape: Box at the back with a low wedge at the front. The wedge is at a smaller angle than before, giving it a slightly longer €œnose€Â, plus it now has a CM long extension on the front which goes flat along the ground, allowing it to get under anything, skirted or otherwise.
Speed: 12 MPH
Weight: ~97 KGs
Dimensions: 140 X 70 X 40 CM (LWH)
Ground clearance: 0 at front, 0 at sides with side and rear skirts, 1 CM without, all round. The sides of the skirts are shaped to leave absolutely no gap, except when the robot is turning.
Weapon 1: A mousetrap style blade, only instead of a flat piece of metal, it€™s jagged like ^^^^^^^, meaning instead of one big blade, it comes down as lots of little points meaning it can do more damage thanks to the area/damage ratio rule. A huge difference though€¦ Now it€™s Etek powered instead of running on gas. The blade is retracted by use of a different winding mechanism, so retraction is slower to prevent self harm.
Weapon 2: An inch thick diamond tipped industrial drill. Extends to 6 inches outside the robot, and comes out of a hole in the wedge. Theoretically, it can cut through more or less anything, but is mainly used for drilling through trapped opponents. Will provide diagram of extension mechanism if asked.
Weapon 3: Two 20 CM spikes at the rear, which rest along the floor. The main function is to stop the force of the trap making the robot jump around, but they can also be used as a rear wedge thanks to the shape.
Armour: 6 mm grade 5 Ti with a 4 mm polycarb laminate.
Srimech: The trap.
Power: 24 volt NiCD battlepacks.
Wheels: Four indoor go-kart wheels. Provide excellent traction on indoor surfaces. These are stuffed rather than pumped, so a puncture wont slow it down too much.
Motors: 2 S28-400 magmotors at 24 volts.
Extras: It now also features Tempest style shock proofing.
Safety link: Under a hatch at the top.
Strengths: Psychotic weaponry, design evolved to eliminate as many weaknesses as possible. Therefore, it€™s extremely difficult to knock out.
Weaknesses: High ground clearance under the skirts, not as manoeuvrable as unskirted 2 wheeled robots.

Robot 2
Name: The Disc 4
Shape: It€™s still the €œbar-bell of doom€ shape we€™ve all come to know and€¦ Know. The framework around the disc itself is gone now, for two reasons. First off, people had trouble imagining what shape it was and kept thinking they could effectively latch on to it, and secondly because€¦ Well, basically the weapon itself is more or less indestructible anyway so I may as well save some weight. It still has the side spikes, but these are no longer the removable links.
Size: 60X110X60 CM (LWH)
Weight: ~100 KGs
Speed: 10 MPH.
Ground clearance: Under the wheel protectors, it€™s 5 mm. Under the disc itself, it€™s 6 mm.
Weapon: 30 KG spinning disc, powered by two LEM 130 Lynch motors and going at 4000 RPM. What€™s so special about this new version is€¦ It has no teeth! Rather, it has no detachable teeth. Instead, the teeth are actually a part of the disc itself.
Weapon 2: The outer axle the disc is attached to now also spins along with the disc. This has several little tungsten spikes for teeth, but it€™s more a defensive feature than an offensive one€¦ Try grabbing hold of that:proud:
Power: Remember, disc and outer axle are one component, so spin as one. All in all the KJ count is a whopping 112 KJ€™s, including disc, axle and 60 little spikes. In total the weapon weighs 33 KGs.
Wheels: Shock horror€¦ It now technically has six wheel drive, although it only runs on four at a time. In an idea stol€¦ borrowed from Gigavirus, there are three wheels on each side, and they are arranged in a triangular fashion, so when it€™s flipped it will inevitably land on two. It can€™t balance on just one, as the weight will drag it over. Now it actually has something to push against as it stops, it becomes as easy to control as anything can be with a huge gyroscopic force in the middle of it. The wheels are made of 1 CM solid grade 5 Ti. Wrapped and glued around that is 5 CMs of soft compound rubber, allowing it to squish downwards a bit and absorb its own hits, and around all of that are vulcanore (or however you spell it) rubber tyres to provide traction. These are protected from disc attacks by two semi-circular wheel guards, so each wheel unit still looks like a ball.
Chassis: The main chassis consists of one solitary 1 CM hardox bar. Slotted over that is a secondary axle, inside which are the batteries. There are also two other triangular chassis€™ supporting the wheels. These are made from 1 CM ti bars with weight reducing holes.
Armour: The true axle and chassis is a 1 CM hardox bar. The battery axle is 5 mm aluminium. The semi circular wheel protectors and side spikes are 5 mm grade 5 Ti. The spinning axle is 1.5 mm aluminium, while the disc itself is 3.75 CM aluminium.
Srimech: Totally invertible. Controls won€™t even have to be reversed after flipping, meaning it can just go straight back on the attack.
Drive: 2 S28-150 Magmotors at 24 volts.
Safety links: It still needs two. These are at the very ends of the battery axle, accessible by holes in the spinning axle. Technically it€™s possible to hit these with a toothpick style axe, but in the middle of a battle, when both robots are moving around and you€™re in a control pod at least 20 feet away€¦ Well, it€™s not going to happen.
Strengths: Very hard to hit, and hits very hard. Also thanks to the new wheels, it loses its age old control weakness.
Weaknesses: To be honest I€™m not sure€¦ I haven€™t kill analysed this new version as much as the old version, so it may still be possible to surprise me with strategies I haven€™t thought of a good counter for:wink:
Yes I know: It€™s possible to avoid the weapon by being too wide to get in between the wheels. This is not a weakness, as it€™s extremely hard to effectively exploit. If you€™re a box, you€™ll still have corners I can go for, and will likely have to have thin armour or go overweight. If you€™re round, there€™ll always be a bit I can hit thanks to your shape€¦ So quit asking me about it.

...And just to prove I really have thought about how to put this bastard together:

Robot 3
Name: NSBFR X (Never Seen Before Fic Robot X)
Shape: Invertible box wedge with rounded sides, plus side and rear skirts.
Weight: Dependant on weapon set-up, but the heaviest is 100 KGs
Speed: 20 MPH
Weapons: Interchangeable wedges selected from the below list:
1: Basic horizontal 10 KG spinning bar. This goes around at 2000 RPM. This produces 22 KJ€™s which should be enough to do some nice hurts.
2: Electric 4 mm hardox pincers with weight reducing holes. These have 5 CM soft compound rubber pads on the tips, and are used against FBS€™
3: The classic solid hardox scoop with controlling latch, weighing in at a massive 20 KG€™s. Mainly used against flywheel wielding nasties.
4: Electric lifting plate, able to tip over 150 KG€™s€¦ I€™m sure I can find a few things to use this on:)
Weapon attachment method: I have changed this. First off the weapons are slotted on, and a 1.5 CM titanium locking bar is pushed through the side of the machine, and then held in position with two 5 mm hardox bolts. The under-section of the weapon is then attached with more bolts, holding it on very firmly and should prevent the weapon from being torn off (which as far as I know never happened, but no sense taking chances).
Armour: 5 mm grade 5 ti.
Ground clearance: 0 at the front no matter which wedge is being used. 4 mm at the side, and 6 mm at the rear. The skirts give it 0 mm all round, and are hinged so flop over when flipped.
Wheels: 4 indoor go-kart wheels which are stuffed rather than pumped.
Motors: 2 LEM 130€™s powered at 48 volts.
Srimech: Invertible.
Safety link: Under a hatch at the rear.
Strengths: Good armour, interchangeable weapons. Quick.
Weaknesses: May not perform as well in melees. Might still be possible for weapons to come off mid-fight, but I doubt it€™ll happen.
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/NSBFRX.jpeghttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/NSBFRX.jpeg
Robot 4
Name: Tempest: Evil-er-oution
Shape: Disc shaped
Weight: ~100 KGs
Size: 75 x 20 CM (DH)
Speed: 15 MPH
Ground clearance: 4 mm all round
Motors: The two wheels are powered by S28-150 Magmotors at 24 volts, but the weapon is powered by a LEM 130 Lynch motor at 48 volts. These are powered by battlepack NiCDs.
Wheels: Two. These have only semi-good traction, to prevent it staying near the opponent after striking. Again, they€™re stuffed instead of pumped. The robot is balanced with two castors.
Weapon: Full body spinner, can reach speeds of 2000 RPM. It now has interchangeable tooth options. Options 1,2 and 3 have four teeth, and are the classic backward hook shape, while option 4 has two and are flatter.
Option 1: Short 2 CM cutting teeth, for robots with weak armour and no wedge. I€™m not expecting to use these much. This option gives Tempest 72 KJ€™s of energy. Against the king of opponents I€™ll be using this on, it could be a one hit kill.
Option 2: These are basic 6 CM teeth. These should still give Tempest enough range to out-strike other spinners and hit wedges before they get in under the main body. This options shells out 85 KJs of energy.
Option 3: This is a set of 15.5 CM teeth. Used for shallow wedges and spinners with longer teeth. This option deals out a whopping 120-odd KJ€™s, so anyone trying that old €œHit Tempest and ping it towards the pit€ tactic is going to be in for a world of hurts. This is slightly the heaviest option, at 26-ish KGs.
Option 4: Two 25 CM teeth, running as close to the floor as possible. These are used against machines with high GC€™s, enabling it to chop up the wheels and damage the drive chain better. Like option 1, I€™m not expecting to use these much, but y€™never know. This hands out 125 KJs of pain. Going directly against a wheel, that€™s pretty much instant death.
Armour: 1 CM grade 5 Ti for the rim, 7 mm Aluminium at the top and bottom.
Srimech: Runs either way up. If the weapon is running, it cant stay on its side.
Extras: Deliberately bounces off of things it hits, so that its just about impossible to push, and also has time to spin up to a damaging speed again. There is rubber tape at all places where two pieces of metal join, and it has rubber shock pads mounted at strategic places on the inside, and the important components are foam mounted, allowing it to absorb its own impacts very well.
Safety link: In the centre of the machine, accessible at both top and bottom thanks to panels.
Strengths: Damaging weapon, it€™s very reliable, is hard to predict and cannot be shoved around.
Weaknesses: Is also pretty hard to control because I€™ll never know exactly where it lands. Wheels are exposed to axes, but are stuffed so won€™t take too much damage from them.
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/Tempest.jpeghttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/Tempest.jpeg
Robot 5
Name: B.A.D-er (Blink and Die-er)
Shape: Slanted box with flat wedge (see pic).
Size: 120X50X25 CM (LWH)
Speed: 25 MPH
Weapon 1: Front wedge, which has an electromagnet inside to give it an extra 25 KG€™s down force on wooden floors.
Weapon 2: A 20 KG spinning steel drum, going at RPM. This is situated above the front wedge, so anything going up the wedge eats drum.
Note: When inverted, the wedge becomes useless, but the drum can still hit.
Armour: 5 mm grade 5 Ti.
Srimech: Invertible.
Mobility: 4 wheel drive, powered by 2 LEM 130€™s at 48 volts. The two rear wheels are larger than the front wheels, so if a wedge gets under the front, it can just go into reverse and drive off. Suck that, 0 GC wedge people :proud: When inverted, it runs on the two larger rear wheels and two castors at the front.
Turning circle: 0
Ground clearance: 0 at front, variable everywhere else.
Safety link: Under a hatch at the rear.
Strengths: High speed, pushing power and acceleration, good front wedge and tough-ish armour.
Weaknesses: No skirts, can be propped up against arena walls, GC high around the rear.
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/BAD-er.jpeghttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/BAD-er.jpeg
Robot 6
Name: Starstorm 2
Shape: Dome, with a spike on top in the centre to allow it to self right.
Colour: Black with stars painted on.
Weapon: Full body flipper. It uses three 80 bore X 160 stroke rams, powered on 500 PSI. When the weapon fires, the entire lid of the robot shoots upwards. The aim of this robot is: Shoot it high, watch it die.
Weapon 2, more or less: Four skirts completely surround the machine. These can be raised and lowered using linear actuators. They€™re raised when cruising, but when I want to get under something, the skirt in question is lowered as I attack, allowing me to slide under nicely. The skirts can also be lowered as a defence mechanism. When lowered fully, the skirts go flat against the floor, so most wedges will go straight over and onto the dome, and can then be launched.
Armour: 4 mm hardox with weight reducing holes for the dome, 3.25 hardox for the skirts and 6 mm Polycarb for the base.
Drive: Four wheel drive, powered by two S28-400 Magmotors.
Ground clearance: Variable depending on skirt level. Minimum is 0 mm, maximum is 5 mm.
Turning circle: 0.
Srimech: The lid will tip it over. Thanks to the spike, this will work 100% of the time.
Extras: Contains Tempest level shock absorption.
Strengths: Hopefully very high powered flipper, reliable, tough armour. The shape of the armour will make spinners glance off rather than actually damaging it. Also 360 degree offensive/defensive capability.
Safety link: The top spike.
Weaknesses: Can be out-pushed, and like any totally new ideas I€™m only 50% sure it€™ll work.
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/Starstorm.jpeghttp://mywebpage.netscape.com/Orisian83/Starstorm.jpeg
Robot 7
Name: Scimiter
Shape: Wedge at the front, barrel at the back, with a blade at the wedge.
Speed: 12 MPH
Ground clearance: 0 at front 5 mm everywhere else
Weapon: Two stage sword lifter at front. After getting under a robot, I can do two things. First off the blade itself can be used as a lifter, powered by two S28-150 Magmotors on 24 volts, to prop up a robot a-la Voltronic. This will result in the entire robot being balanced on a point which can damage weak underbellies, or with good driving slip in the wheel-gap and damage the drive chain. However, the fun doesn€™t end there, as the wedge is a hydraulic lifter allowing me to theoretically tip over two tonnes. However this is unrealistic as the lifter would never balance that much without taking damage. It should tip over 200 KG€™s with no problem though, which is all I need. There is a wedge under the lifter, similar to the one on Tornado (S7 version).
Weapon 2€¦ Sort of: By raising the hydraulic lifter, and moving the electric lifter down, it becomes a crusher! As I have an under-wedge I can still trap opponents before crushing.
Armour: 4 mm hardox, except the base plate which is 4 mm Polycarb.
Wheels: 4 indoor go-kart wheels.
Motors: 2 LEM 130 lynch motors at 36 volts.
Srimech: Just rolls over if flipped. If it gets stuck, it can use the sword to push itself over.
Safety link: Under a hatch in the top.
Strengths: Unique weapon, it cant be trapped against a wall, strong armour.
Weaknesses: Can€™t get robots OOTA, may struggle a bit against invertible robots.

Im still on my sisters computer, so The Discs tactics only at the mo
If hes using the spinner:
He has detachable teeth. I dont. Well, thats assuming it has teeth, as none have been mentioned.
If hes using the flipper:
From his stats, it looks like hes planning on flipping via the axle. Funily enough after Andys plan with WX 5 in the last series, this is something I planned for. I hope those forks are VERY firmly attached because theyll need to be:)
For either set-up:
I dont have to damage it. No sri-mech or invertability mentioned, so one good blow should tip it over and immobolise it.
Few mistakes in the stats I can find... but looks like a nice new team there Frank. :)
Sorry about the delay for Annoying Box Rush. Its been tricky to sort out things. Youd think a wedge lifter would be exceptionally easy, but some people are just wired to do pushy-bots, and some people are safer in spinner country. :proud:
Im very grateful to not be in any of the first few heats. Being in all four first heats last time royally screwed me up.
Meh. While Im waiting for my sister to get out the bloody shower I might as well do all my tactics and predictions.
I also just noticed I forgot to give you XIs stats. Sorry about that, theyll be in shortly.

Ah, basically, a medium-sized 8-wheeled robot with a really low electric lifter that looks a bit like a Minion ripoff (without the chainsaw). Dunno how itll fare.
|Heat P, Heat winner: Probably WX 6|
Haha, WX 6.0 is a miracle of invention. Andy managed to make a robot thats basically 10 friggin robots, depending on the match. After some analysis, it looks like VGer could beat all of them. :proud:
Nick, is it 8 wheel drive as in all 8 wheels are on the ground when driving?
Or, is it like Big Nipper/Top-Bot/Chalkie when the 8 wheels are small and only 4 wheels are on the ground at a time with 4 wheels in the air for being inverted?
lol @ Nick
Its one great superbot! :proud:
HEAT A
Biohazard moves on.
HEAT B
Dunno
HEAT C
Perhaps NAP2 or Ha-ka can do something to take care of Tempest before the heat finals, but if MOE winds up against it in anything other than a heat, 70% chance MOE will lose.
Meh, Tempest, damn you Frank.
HEAT D
Dunno.
HEAT E
Achilles (25) can do it.
HEAT F
Flipping Mad TU (11) vs No Close Shave 2 vs Stinger vs Wedga Revo
Wedge Devolution (27) vs Blizzard vs Glasgow Kiss vs Happy Birthday Party Pooper
A very wedgey Heat final and semis, I think. Flipping Mad possibly, but I dont really know.
HEAT G
Oh dear. Dunno.
HEAT H
One of the several real robots (any really) could take it. Crashing Bore could certainly get through, I just dont want it to. :proud:
HEAT I
Dallas to go through, in flying chainsaw colors.
HEAT J
Angel Of The Abyss (14)
Megabyte
Stratosfear
One of those... Glad I could narrow it down for ya.
HEAT K
I guess well find out.
HEAT L
Dont know, dont care.
HEAT M
MDU will put on a show, plowing through its first target, and getting stuck in a wall. Hypertension or Dieceratops to go through. :proud:
HEAT N
Dont know, dont care.
HEAT O
Typhoon 2 (20) or Well Buy You A New One Tomorrow Mrs Brown
HEAT P
Who knows?
|||Nick, is it 8 wheel drive as in all 8 wheels are on the ground when driving? |||
Yes.
|||Its one great superbot.|||
Geez, Andy. 10 weapons? Are you going to use even three of them? They can be simplified into: weapon X for attacking spinners, and weapon Z for attacking pushybots.
Why not have a strategy? Instead of just entering 10 robots under the same name with something different on the front. Im just going to keep the thick ablative ali layer of armor on VGer until it runs into one of Aarons spinners, and they may well get weeded out before then, since so many people have modular weapons to fight them now.
Nah, I only usually use the scoop but the weird ones come in handy every now and then. (eg. last VFT final)
I only made WX6.0 for this series to get that seeding, Martyn isnt gonna get it off me for doing nothing. :P
Infusion will be using the Spinner Combination. Will break the teeth and buckle the disc.
Ill be using the Shuffle Pads for this to prevent myself from sliding during hits.
Frank, Infusion is invertible.
Thanks, Aaron! Interestingly, I was thinking I might have to pick for you if you didnt appear, and that was the same setup I would have picked!
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the beginning of Velociraptors Fanfic Tournament, Series 6! This tournament series has been constantly expanding, beginning with a 16-robot affair, and in the last two tournaments we had 96! But now VFT6 is even bigger, with 128 robots, beginning by fighting each other in four way melees! Lets get cracking with Heat A!
First, our number one seed, The Disc 4! The tenth seed last time, this axlebot with a disc in the middle performed horrifying autopsies on such robots as Angel Of The Abyss, Windyer Killer, Monsoons Back and WX 5.0, to become the VFT5 Champion! But in two generations, The Disc has undergone dramatic changes - there are now three wheels on each side, arranged triangularly for stability! The framework around the mighty 30kg disc has been removed, but now the spiked axle spins to keep attackers at bay! And the teeth are not detachable, but part of the disc. The Disc 4 has certainly improved itself a lot, but will it be enough to win the title a second time? Well soon see!
The seventeenth seed, Psyclone, is the descendant of Code 14, the shuffling spinner that reached its VFT5 heat final but was flipped on its head by TSC! But this new version shouldnt have that problem, as its installed a srimech bar on top! Psyclones low cylinderical shape now has a slight dome on top, and its replaced its camshafts with wheels, but it should still be frighteningly destructive with its 50kg spinning shell that has two Hardox teeth 15mm above the ground for causing damage, and its Vullkolan treaded wheels mean it shouldnt bounce back from impacts! The 3.25mm Hardox shell should be fairly damage resistant, but the baseplate is just 5mm polycarbonate, although AJs hoping nobody will be able to reach it!
Biohazard is one of the worlds most successful real robots - its low, skirted, well armoured, well engineered and has an effective lifting arm! This design took it to four Battlebots heavyweight championships! Biohazard is certainly no stranger to VFT, having competed in VFTs 1, 3 and 4, but its only won one fight in all of them put together! Its last outing was a painful affair when Omega and Tengu IV ripped it to pieces in Round 1. Can this certainly deserving robot do better?
Infusion is described as a fully interchangable robot - this cylindrical robot can move on wheels, tracks or camshafts, a rare function among interchangable robots! But of course, it has interchangable weaponry as well - Aaron was unable to finish all the modes hed planned in time for this series, but the two modes he has look nasty! Theres a spinner mode, where Infusions two rims, joined by electromagnetism, spin around to give opponents a rough time, and a flipper mode, where a dual fork flipper designed to flip The Disc and low robots is fitted! But will Infusion be in trouble if it comes up against faster robots?
Panic 3 GTI 2 is similar to Panic Attack, as its name suggests, and yet quite different as well. Its a low box with skirts, but its also invertable rather than using a srimech! It has six Vulcalon wheels to give high pushing power, and it has a high speed of 20mph! But it also has weaponry like Panic Attack - two lifting forks at the front. Its innards can be seen through the 10mm lexan & 2mm aluminium armour - will that allow other robots to do some window shopping?
Pulveriser is one of the many robots this year that has come into Britain from Holland to go against the RW competitors! Its somewhat similar to S3, with a cylindrical body, a wheel at either side, and a vertical spinning disc, as well as a snazzy paint job to dazzle attackers! We never got to see the potential of the disc in the Second World Championship, as it didnt seem to be working at full potential and Pulveriser was eliminated via a judges decision, but will the Dutch robot do some pulverising here?
Squish has taken a hint from the winning design of the former RW and World Champ Razer, and could soon be giving its opponents a slow and agonising squishing! This low wedge has a powerful hydraulic crusher, two wings to selfright, and a winkler at the front to help get underneath those frustrating low robots! It has excellent traction and great speed at 20mph, but it also has a high ground clearance at the sides and back. Could Squish be squashed itself?
And Voltronic is another American real robot making a return to VFT - it entered VFT4, where it got revenge on M.O.E for beating it in real life, but lost to the low wedge and pushing power of NSBFR in the heat final! Voltronic remains a low wedge with a lifting arm designed to carry opponents around to any arena hazards! It has a good record in Battlebots, having come runner up in three championships, and its driver Stephen Felk makes good TV, but this aint Battlebots or TV - will Voltronic sink or swim?
The time has come to begin the fighting again! The Disc 4, Biohazard, Infusion and Panic 3 GTI 2 are all in the arena, and all about to cause carnage!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
In the first second of VFT6, The Disc 4 looked towards Biohazard, who was about to clash with Panic 3 GTI 2, but noticed Infusion shuffling towards it! It moved into a collision, in which Infusion smacked and dented the rubber around the wheels, while The Disc 4 managed to glance it with the disc! Spinning around, The Disc 4 turned 180 degrees and the attacking Infusion just missed it, but as The Disc 4 turned to greet it, its wheel glanced the spinner and it was spun again, allowing Infusion to attack again, tearing the rubber a little! During this struggle, the speedy Panic 3 GTI 2 had reached Biohazards sides and was pushing its forks against the skirts, but they wouldnt quite go under, allowing Biohazard to turn and meet them with its front, activating the arm and lifting Panic 3 GTI 2 a little! Panic quickly fell to the ground and tried to dodge Biohazard, who ran into its side and pushed, also failing to surpass the skirting. Panic 3 GTI 2 turned away from the push and with a cool looking swerve, went back into Biohazards side, but still couldnt get the forks under the skirts! The BB champ once again turned to get its arm just under the forks, but once again Panic 3 GTI 2 was lifted for a millisecond before reversing out of trouble!
Meanwhile, The Disc 4 and Infusion continued to battle - The Disc 4 finally managed to strike Infusion head on, causing both to bounce a little! The reigning champ tried its old tactic of running the wheel into the spinning shell to slow it and then strike with the disc, but the shell wouldnt stall! The next thing that ran into Infusion was Panic 3 GTI 2, who had accidentally hit it while escaping from Biohazard, ripping its left skirt! Biohazard tried to take advantage, but Panic 3 GTI 2 caught it as it turned and shoved it round into Infusion! Sent reeling with a tear in its own skirt, Biohazard went into the path of The Disc 4, who quickly struck the side, yanking the skirt up and sending Biohazard skimming from the impact! Panic 3 GTI 2 followed Biohazard, but didnt quite catch the skirt before it fell back down, although it was able to give Biohazard a good shove before the American regained itself and tried to get under the forks again, missing. Dodging Biohazards advance, Panic 3 GTI 2 reached the sides again, now pushing with its rear skirt and taking Biohazard back into Infusion, who had just whacked and then missed The Disc 4! Again, Biohazard flew from the impact, going back in front of The Disc 4 and taking another blow which sent it tilting and bouncing off the wall!
The Disc 4 and Panic 3 GTI 2 both followed Biohazard, who recovered in a corner and charged Panic 3 GTI 2! It managed to catch the front, but was only able to lift from under the forks for a moment before The Disc 4 struck again, sending Biohazard flying out from under Panic 3 GTI 2, tilting the Vapourbot, which The Disc 4 knocked over into the advancing Infusion! Now it was Panics turn to fly, its lexan cracked by Infusions spinner! As it landed, Biohazard caught it and quickly decided to get rid of it, carrying it to the pit release! As Panic 3 GTI 2 became the first robot eliminated in VFT6, via the pit, The Disc 4 had hit Infusion right after Panic had been sent flying, giving it a bit of knock! The two spinners clashed together again with a reverberating noise, then The Disc 4 dodged Infusions attempt to reach the left wheel and glanced it away with the disc again! At this point, Biohazard reappeared, aiming for Infusion, lifting as they collided and causing Infusion to vibrate a little while Biohazard spun off! The first seed eagerly attacked, whacking Infusion as it wobbled, but Infusion quickly stabilised and was ready to meet The Disc 4s next charge! But as the spinners met again, Biohazard came back and took advantage of Infusions closeness to the wall, lifting it a little and causing it to bounce into the wall, while Biohazard whirled away again, its arm now bent and not moving! Infusion bounced into the weapon of The Disc 4, and was tilted, and thrown against the wall again! Its spinner still going, it glanced off the weapon again and bounced on its side, The Disc 4 and Biohazard following it! As Infusion started to come down on its camshafts, Biohazard aimed to get underneath with its rear, but just made Infusion bounce again, towards the closed pit! Biohazard headed for the pit release, while The Disc 4 followed Infusion and whacked it, to let it bounce a couple more times and finally settle on top of Panic 3 GTI 2 in the hole!
CEASE!
Infusion and Panic 3 GTI 2 are eliminated!
THE DISC 4 AND BIOHAZARD GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Melee number two, and its got Psyclone, Pulveriser, Squish and Voltronic!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As Psyclone began its deadly spin, Pulversier did the same, but at the same time, found itself under attack from Squish and Voltronic! Easily reaching Pulveriser first, Squish slipped underneath and the claw began to lower! Pulveriser turned around and hit Squishs side, but only made a scratch! As Squish moved to get Pulveriser back in its grip, Psyclone made an appearance and its teeth made contact with Pulverisers right wheel! While Psyclone barely budged, Pulveriser positively flew, with its wheel breaking attachment with the body and flying over it! Bouncing and coming to a stop, Pulveriser did not move again! Meanwhile, Squish was in trouble - Voltronic had gotten under the rear while it was distracted, pinned it against the wall and lifted it! Manouvering around, it carried the crusher towards the pit release, but when they touched it, Voltronic found itself cornered by Psyclone and unable to escape! As the 17th seed waited, Voltronic turned around and ran Squish into Psyclone! Left with a more impressive wound than the one Psyclone had made, Squish bounced out of Voltronics clutches, still mobile! When this happened, Voltronic continued moving forward into Psyclone, but the 17th seed had already started reversing to try and avoid harming Squish, and carried on doing so! Voltronic was able to catch up in a few seconds, and slip the wedge under the high ground clearance, but before the arm was underneath, the teeth hit the wedge and spun Voltronic away! All this bought Squish enough time to accelerate in and ram under Voltronic, bringing the claw downward into a wheel, which was quickly squished! Deciding to get proper revenge, Squish ran Voltronic into the pit release, and Psyclone got out of the way, allowing the previous heat finalist to be dumped out of the competition!
CEASE!
Pulveriser and Voltronic are eliminated!
PSYCLONE AND SQUISH GO THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Heat A, Round 2:
The Disc 4 (1) vs Squish
Psyclone (17) vs Biohazard
Great opening fights! :)
Psyclone (17) vs Biohazard
As it says in the intro, Biohazard was torn to bits by Omega and Tengu last time. And I am far more powerful than them, so things are looking good! :proud:
Ill spin up to speed as quick as possible and try and mash up the side and rear skirts. If things are going well, Ill try a couple of hits on the front and try to disable the lifting arm. If somehow it flips me, I should be able to selfright with ease.
Basically, Im going to try and cause total carnage, those skirts must be fixed to the body somehow. So maybe a few hits could wipe them off.
Just one thing, I think I forgot to mention shock absorbing in the stats, everything inside is shock proof and surrounded by rubber. :)
Psyclone (17) vs Biohazard
Oh boy! I was lucky to get through Round 1, but now I think Biohazard will be going out in bits! My only chance is to dodge him at the start of the fight, get to the arena wall and try to flip him. Then, whilst hes self righting, slide under him and try to lift him OOTA. My chances of winning this are minimal.
Especially when there are NO OOTAs!!! *rolls eyes*
*catches andys eyes before they roll off the table and runs off with them*
...wow. The Master of Writting has returned and hes as oil-thirsty as ever! Wonderous opening there, Mr Southworth! :proud:
HEAT A
ROUND 2 THOUGHTS
- The Disc to win a very slippery affair against Squish, maybe by a Judges decision
- Psyclone to rip open Biohazard SOW-style :proud:
Tactics: My main aim in this bout is to try and grab hold of the spinning outer axle. According to The Discs stats, the disc and outer axle are connected, meaning that if I can stop the outer axle, the disc itself should stop spinning, meaning that I can successfully outpush my opponent without a further risk of receiving damage.
Wooty... Let my bang-inducing retirement begin:)
Aaron, please in future state little things like invertability.
Dan, youre right-ish, in fact its no longer a classic vertical disc but more like a disc/drum medley. Yes theyre connected, in fact theyre made from the same piece of metal, but to stop the outer axle youd need to try and grapple something going around at either 3500 or 4000 RPM, I forget which right about now, and even if a tooth doesnt hit you, its likely to do some damage if you try to grab it. Practical experiment time again. Open a CD player while the CDs going, and put your finger on the central bit to stop it. You should feel your skin pull a little... Now imagine what would happen if it was going around a thousand or more RPM...
Ill try to hit the sides of Squish to knock it over. If memory serves it has Razer wings, so Ill try to then knock one or both of them off to stop it self righting, problem solved.
If it doesnt have Razer wings, Ill just try to keep knocking it around and see if something breaks free, and basically to stop him attacking.
If he does go for the axle, the old turn at the last moment trick should belt him on the side and allow me to open up the offensive.
Richard, is it ok if I change a bit on one of my robots, because I spotted a weakness to it?
Dave - sorry, you cant.
4 robots gone, 4 robots remain. Now for Round 2, where champ The Disc 4 is about to meet Squish!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
The Disc 4 paused as Squish came hurtling towards it, aiming to grab the axle. As it came close, The Disc 4 turned, but so did Squish! They turned until a wheel of the 1st seed ran up Squishs wedge, but The Disc 4 shifted and the disc hit the armour, causing it to bounce back and just miss being captured by the claw! Squish moved in quickly, bringing the claw down to stop the axle - it overshot and the claw lowered behind the axle for a moment, then the tungsten teeth hit the claw and moved The Disc 4 forwards on the wedge, allowing it to make contact with the armour! This made it bounce back into a position where the left wheel touched the floor - it tried turning and the axle hit the claw again, but didnt do too much to the Hardox, and made The Disc 4 bounce forward again! Squish was being knocked a little by these successive impacts as it tried to carry its victim, but eventually the disc and axle started slowing down from the impacts! This allowed Squish to take The Disc 4 where it wanted, which was to the pit release, and then to the pit! However, the reigning champ wouldnt die easily! As Squish raised its crusher to drop it in, The Disc 4 swerved and brought itself off the wedge, just missing dropping into the pit! It came down to one side of Squish, was able to spin up the disc again quickly, and strike Squish in the side before it could quite escape! Squish was tilted, and The Disc 4 took advantage by knocking it over towards the pit, and another bash sent it in!
CEASE!
THE DISC 4 GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
One place left in the first VFT6 heat final - will Psyclone or Biohazard (repaired after the first melee) fill it?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Both robots stayed where they were for a moment, as Psyclone spun up, then the spinner charged Biohazard. Biohazard moved quickly to escape, then stopped near the arena wall and waited for Psyclone to come within range. Psyclone paused, unsure, then after a few seconds, it attacked! Biohazard aimed to dodge, but Psyclone caught the rear - it didnt fly thanks to its treaded wheels, but Biohazard did, spinning into a brief vortex! Psyclone followed, and hit the side! Biohazard skimmed again, stopping just short of the wall, some of the hinges holding the right skirt torn away! It waited near the arena wall again, jerking a little to show it wasnt immobilised. Again, Psyclone was cautious, then decided to attack the part of Biohazard facing it - the front. It rushed in and made contact, as Biohazard raised its arm to try and overturn it! But the American robot could only lift for a moment before it was flung against the wall and off, and Psyclones high ground clearance kept it just clear of the ground! Attacking again, the 17th seed hit the left skirt, breaking a few hinges there and leaving a long wound across the sponsor logos! Biohazard turned and tried running at Psyclone to flip it again, but the wounded arm would only raise slowly, not enough to affect Psyclone before it was hit, and immobilised once again!
Psyclone quickly seized the oppotunity to hit the wound in the left skirt again, finally causing the rear half to peel away from Biohazards body! Biohazard hit the wall as it flew and was stunned for a moment, then tried to tempt Psyclone into the wall again. Unafraid, Psyclone advanced, but stopped short as Biohazard dodged. Finding itself at one side, Biohazard charged to try and knock Psyclone into the wall, but only skimmed away itself due to Psyclones traction! Moving away from the wall as Biohazard charged, the 17th seed hit it in the front again, causing more damage, then running into the right skirt to eliminate more hinge! Biohazard spun around into the wall again, allowing Psyclone to hit the robot where the left skirt had come away! The rear left wheel was tossed away, and a painful scar was left in the armour! Unable to take any more punishment, Biohazard stopped dead! Psyclone evilly ran into the rear again, opening the panel a bit, but then decided to leave the badly damaged and unmoving Biohazard alone as it was counted out.
CEASE!
PSYCLONE GOES THROUGH TO THE HEAT FINAL!
Heat A Final:
The Disc 4 (1) vs Psyclone (17)
2/2 predictions correcto! :proud:
HEAT A
ROUND 3 THOUGHTS
Ill be controversial and say Psyclone to halt the Disc with a narrow JD
Fights are brimming over with wootyness as always, Richie
Hit Psyclone as soon as possible. I should be fully spun up by the time we meet. Its probably impossible to flip an FBS while its spinning, but thats OK. If I hit it, it wont be spinning anymore so it should go over:)
After that, spin up again quickly and attack the polycarb base before it self rights, and hopefully I can kill it from the butt upwards.
...Theres a mental image I coulda done without:lame:
yes Frank.
Wooty fights Richard, it doesnt matter about Black Chalkie Beard.
Well very shiteful start to the season. Looks like Im going to have to head back to the old methods.
The Disc 4 (1) vs Psyclone (17)
Go for the wheels, rip it to peices, no mercy. :)
Thanks for all your comments! And youve still got seven robots left, Aaron!
The first VFT6 heat final is here, and the first filled place in the first semifinal is on the horizon! Like VFT5, its a clash of the seeds - The Disc 4 and Psyclone! Will The Disc 4 be on its way to a title defence, or will Psyclone pull a Tempest Evil-oution?
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Both robots came towards each other, and both had already spun up by the time they met. With a crash, they collided - The Disc 4 went flying to one side, its left wheel hitting Psyclone as it went so it ended up spinning around! Quickly stabilising, Psyclone came in and managed to hit the right wheel, which spun the first seeds disc into its body, but the Hardox teeth swatted it away while the 17th seed was tilted a little! The Disc 4 was sent wheel-first into the wall - as it bounced off, Psyclone hit it in the left wheel and sent it into the wall disc-first, so it flew backwards, missing Psyclone! Psyclone followed, but the champ quickly recovered and attacked head on, intercepting Psyclones attempt to swerve, striking with the disc and causing another wobble while being knocked away itself! This time, The Disc 4 balanced on one wheel as it flew, and Psyclone followed it - as it spun around, the disc just missed and Psyclone hit the left wheel, denting the wheel guard and taking The Disc 4 even more off the ground, so it almost met the wall again! Back on track, The Disc 4 dodged Psyclone as it advanced and managed to hit while Psyclone was close to the wall! Psyclone brushed the wall, slowing the shell, but The Disc 4 was unable to reach it before it had spun up again!
Psyclone reversed away from the wall, outpacing The Disc 4, and tried luring it towards the arena disc. The Disc 4 saw what was going on and stopped, and both were stationary for a moment. The Disc 4 moved first, and Psyclone quickly joined it, trying to swerve again, but The Disc 4 cut it off and whacked it, although the spinning shell propelled it disc first into the wall, and this time when it bounced back, its left wheel hit Psyclone and it was spun into the wall again, running into the arena disc as it bounced again! And before it could recover, Psyclone advanced and knocked it into the disc again! The Disc 4 missed Psyclone as it flew again, but Psyclone took care of that by hitting it in the left wheel again! The champion had survived the abuse thanks to its heavy armouring, but its wheel guards were now extremely battered and pierced a little!
The Disc 4 moved back towards the wall and waited for Psyclone to attack. The 17th seed approached cautiously, getting closer, until The Disc 4 moved to one side and attacked! Psyclone also moved, hitting the disc and the left wheel, so The Disc 4 was sent into the wall and back into Psyclone, hitting it and slowing its shell! Psyclone was shifted by the impact and started reversing away from the first seed, successfully spinning up again and following The Disc 4 back to the wall! It approached The Disc 4 from the other side to spin it away from the wall, so the champ tried running round Psyclone, but the spinner intercepted it and landed another blow to the disc and left wheel, piercing the wheel guard and spinning The Disc 4 away while only tilting a little itself! Recovering quickly, The Disc 4 ran at Psyclone and another head on collision resulted, which caused The Disc 4 to almost crash into the wall again!
The Disc 4 stayed where it was, waiting for Psyclone to attack - Psyclone again went for the left, so The Disc 4 ran round it sooner. But this didnt help, as Psyclone reacted quickly and aimed to hit the wheel, but was hit by the disc again, although again the champion flew! The Disc 4 advanced after spinning, but couldnt reach Psyclone fast enough before it was away from the wall! Psyclone again moved towards the arena disc, and there was another standoff between the two, until The Disc 4 moved first, dodged Psyclones aiming for the wheel and ran towards the disc itself! Psyclone came back and The Disc 4 dodged, aiming to knock the 17th seed into the disc, but Psyclone stopped in time and went into The Disc 4 to hit the disc and right wheel! Psyclone moved away from the arena disc, and The Disc 4 followed, sticking close to the wall, but when Psyclone went towards the pit release, it didnt follow! So Psyclone just returned to the first seed but managed to dodge the attack and hit the right wheel, brushing the disc as well! The Disc 4 glanced off the wall as it flew, but was back on track just in time to strike Psyclone as it wheeled towards it - once again, it was The Disc 4 that flew away! It waited around the wall again, and Psyclone faithfully came in slowly, but as The Disc 4 ran around it again, it successfully did so! Psyclone brushed a wheel, but The Disc 4 was still on course to hit Psyclone, be spun into the wall and remain close to the 17th seed! In the following impact, this did happen, with The Disc 4 bouncing back and forth between the wall and Psyclone a couple of times, but Psyclone ran and spun up its shell, although time ran out before another impact, so it spun it down - the Hardox armour was scratched, but nothing like the damage on The Disc 4! What would happen to the VFT5 Champion in the first judges decision of VFT6?
CEASE!
Aggression: The Disc 4 - 5, Psyclone - 5 (there was equal aggression between the two)
Damage: The Disc 4 - 2, Psyclone - 8 (P caused a lot of damage to TD4s wheel guards, while TD4 didnt do as much to P)
Strategy: The Disc 4 - 7, Psyclone - 3 (TD4 had more strategy than P -using the wall and the arena disc - but limited success)
Control: The Disc 4 - 4, Psyclone - 6 (P was more controlled)
Style: The Disc 4 - 3, Psyclone - 7 (sending TD4 flying many times gives P more points here)
Dominance: The Disc 4 - 3, Psyclone - 7 (the fight mainly consisted of the two robots attacking each other, but P initiated more hits and TD4 came off worst from each one)
Final Score: The Disc 4 - 24, Psyclone - 36
PSYCLONE GOES THROUGH TO THE SEMI FINALS!
Next time on VFT6, third seed Manic Monsoon will try and drown Cholera, Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint and Slammer IV!
And nineteenth seed Whirligig 4.0 will attempt to send Battle Rat, Growling Storm 2.5 and National Speed Limit Applies spinning out of the tournament!
WOOHOO! 3 in a row for the Official VFT Predictor! :proud:
HEAT B
ROUND 1
Cholera VS Manic Monsoon (3) VS Powerpoint Reaches Pressurepoint VS Slammer IV
Ill take last seasons bronze medallist to easily sweep through, along with a surprising Powerpoint
BattleRat VS Growling Storm 2.5 VS National Speed Limit Applies VS WHIRLIGIG 4.0 (19)
BattleRats first on the list. Its simply a case of revving up and aiming for the sides. Its DeShelling Time, folks! :proud:
After that, rev up again and take on whoevers nearest. :proud:
Thank you Richard! Ive finally defeated that heap o junk! :lame:
GROWLING STORM 2.5s TACTICS:
While Whirligig 4.0 goes after BattleRat, Ill take on National Speed Limit Applies, and try and catch up to its speed, but when I have it cornered, Ill either wedge underneath it or grab it with my jaw, and bring it to the pit. If Steve hasnt successfully taken out Battle Rat, then I shall team up with it to take it out. And if he has, then Growling Storm 2.5 and Whirligig 3.0 will team up on NSA, and NSA should be either immobilised or pitted before the battle is over. :)
