I'm not exactly sure what all that means but, yes sounds good and I can take some hitch hikers from here in Sheffield.
I'm sort of looking to be an apprentice 'bot builder so......

oops double post.
That'd be great if you could give a lift - I'd want to finish my featherweight to bring it along first in any case - should be about two weeks-ish. I'm not sure when you guys want to meet, but by all means meet without me if you were thinking sooner than that.
Socials work best on a weekday evening 7.30pm is early enough to give robot builder time
to have tea and get to the venue if not too distant and the plus points are you'll miss the
evenings soap operas.
I could get to the ripon venue and add some input, My pub in York offers a free use of a room
for groups and I'm sure other town pubs offer the same or a garage is a starting point I guess.
I'm pretty sure there are more would be roboteers out there but if you are looking for tips and
meetings as a new face you might google Robot Wars rather than FRA :?
If it's a weekend I'd wander over with a beetle and anyone who wants to can have a drive and a look. Not going in with spinner though before the champs in nov lol.
I would prefer a weekend but I can manage other nights except Tuesday (Poker night).
I'm pretty much in the same boat. If anything, I'd love to learn a few other things on top of what I learnt in the Prince's Trust meetup. And get a few ideas too. Mind you, all the ideas I have are for heavyweights so... :P
Oh yeah, and I live in Sheffield too. Which is fun. Near-ish Meadowhall.
I don't mind trading ideas with people, but the main thing I wanna learn from someone is MIG welding.
Anybody fancy an expedition to the Cannock event?
Meet in Sheffield, travel down together and then have a look at those who are doing it....?
On the 15th? I'd love that!
Might well do depending on how finished I can get a robot by then. How were you thinking of getting there?
Latest;
I cannot make Saturday but Sunday looks good.
Who is also interested and what are your plans?
Which showing are you interested in? 12 or 3:30? I can do either really. I don't have a car so if anyone's giving lifts, I'm happy to reimburse you for fuel, if not I can probably get public transport up there somehow. Thinking of getting VIP tickets by the way, they're quite reasonably priced for what they are. Whatever we choose, we'd better act fast before they sell out.
A lift is no problem.
I have never been to one of these things before. I amas much interested in hanging around and chatting with those that do as watching the actual fights.... I think....
Probably see both of the events whilst we are there. Where do you get thetickets and stuff?
Absolutely, yeah it'd be good to chat with fellow roboteers. Tickets are available from here: http://www.theticketsellers.co.uk/bu...isers/?id=3147
OK I am going to buy a ticket. Shall we say 12.00?
P.S. Any other Sheffield people interested in going?
Yes, 12 is fine. VIP or regular?
Wish I could come but I already had other plans. Looks like I'm stumped until the next Manchester event.
I'll PM, I'm literally in the centre of Sheffield. :)
Anyone interested in a attending a social event/team member recruiting event in the
Wakefield area this weekend?.
I know this is short notice but my feeling is that anyone interested in building a robot
will make the effort.
So whatever your level or if your just a newbie your welcome to come along-
If you are not in a team there may be opportunity to join one.
Check out my Robotic history by searching Memoirs of a veteran roboteer.
Looking at early sunday afternoon for Day/time.
Would like to, but it's the Manchester event this weekend.
No worries Tim glad to know your in the loop anyway and i'm sure there will
be more socials or robot meets to meet up at.
anyone else-vets/newbies/other:o
I would be up for a social somewhere in West Yorkshire in the next month or two.
I'd be up for that. If your location is accurate, i'm in Huddersfield most weekends (friday & saturday) Friday, i'm there as i volunteer at the rail station, saturday I'm usually gaming with friends. I'm also currently free most days, as is my flatmate who is interested in robot combat (we're currently trying to do a featherweight), he'll be along too no doubt.
Sounds good to me. Perhaps we could meet at one of the rail station pubs, if it's not too noisy. I would need to check any date with my team member, Neil. I am building a heavyweight flipper and have got back into it this year after a 10 year pause.
Yes, for me as well, one of the rail station pubs sounds good. I'm in Sheffield. And probably for R9000, Rory.
Cheers
Tim
Weekends the two pubs can get quite busy, as they're part of the ale trail, but if the meeting is done at a time around that, it'll probably be fairly manageable noise wise. Sounds like we might get a fair few to any possible meet this time.
I can personally do either. 7PM will only be mega busy if its a match day, and with 'uddersfield in the Premier League, i've noticed it more busy and rowdy, as to be expected really.
So would a Friday evening be better? The Kings Head always seems much quieter than the Head of Steam - unless you know differently.
Kings Head is indeed usually the quieter of the two. I can do either and any of the days, so best to wait and see what others can / can't do.
If this is a Friday eveing from next week onwards then I'll come along too. I'm based in Sheffield.
