This is an ideal opportunity to have a competition running along side show events. So M2 would be entered into any competition + show fights as required.
Ripper, Stealth, Bulldog Breed, Ewe 2 (S), TAURUS (C), Judge Shred, Leveller, Behemoth, Thor, Mighty mouse, Veloceripper, Mute, Big Nipper (C), Scorpion, Merlin(S), Spearhead, Tanto, Serrano (C), Gman (S), Revolution (C)+(S)!!!, Air, M2 (C) + (S), Kronic the Wedgehog (S), Tuscan (S), Mayhem, Storm 2, Dantomkia, Tomohawk, Corkscrew, St Agro, Ceros

Roaming Robots, Winter Tour
From the audience point of view theres going to be little difference between the Show and Competition formats - when they see three heavyweights go into the arena the majority wont much care if the result affects the outcome of some long term competition as long as the combat is enjoyable.
So, how much difference would there be for the roboteers involved?
It was mentioned at the tour meeting that Show bouts would involve less damage than Competition bouts but is this true? How many of us have fine enough control over our weapons to decide whether to damage an opponent or not? As far as I can see, probably only the crushers. Certainly not us. :)
One difference I can see is that in a competitive match a stacked or otherwise immobilised robot wouldnt be helped out as they are in a friendly match. This could mean shorter bouts but also less damage, and if the shorter bouts is a problem then there could be some sort of indicator to say the competitive part of the bout is over, freeing the roboteers to carry on for entertainment.
A problem I can see with the exclusively show approach is that the final event becomes just the last event in the series. Wed be losing the opportunity for the events to build to a climax. As I said above this wouldnt much affect the audiences for the earlier events but for the audiences at this last event I think it would generate a degree of added interest plus, as a bonus, creating more of a buzz amongst the roboteers.
Anyway, thats enough of my opinions. If youve not guessed by now Id vote for: Spearhead (C)
Ripper, Stealth, Bulldog Breed, Ewe 2 (S), Taurus (C), Judge Shred, Leveller, Behemoth, Thor, Mighty mouse, Veloceripper, Mute, Big Nipper (C), Scorpion, Merlin(S), SPEARHEAD (C), Tanto, Serrano (C), Gman (S), Revolution (C)+(S)!!!, Air, M2 (C) + (S), Kronic the Wedgehog (S), Tuscan (S), Mayhem, Storm 2, Dantomkia, Tomohawk, Corkscrew, St Agro, Ceros

Totally agree with Richards coments - I think that there will be almost no damage difference with show fights - and if the 10 second rule is used when one is imobolised then the fight can continue as a showcase.
I know I will take more damage constantly showing how many times AIR can hit the roof with us in five minutes.
I dont think that anyone is looking for cut-throat competition, but just a bit of friendly rivalry to liven things up - cant understand the objections. make commentry a lot more interesting as well.

Come on guys You are all on about weather it will be a competition or a show for the Heavyweights. What about those of use who have only got featherweights, we have to face all weapon types even in whiteboard fights (some people dont know when to stop). So how many Feathers do you think will be left by the end of the tour. We have had to rebuild at least 2 of our feathers after just about every event we have been to. So all you Featherweght drivers what do you want Competition or Show.

Currently got one feather flipper in bits, needs drive motors fixing, One feather disc without electronics and bits for a feather Axe. If one or more ever get back into a working state again then Id want them in a competion but I think your right (looking at past event) it doesnt seem to make a difference between if it was a show.
*goes back to the bench again to fix the feather electronics*

Once thing that remains a priority is to entertain the paying audience. Show fights can entertain as can competition fights but neither can all of the time. Competition fights frequently end up one on one and often fail to go the distance meaning a short burst of action after a potentially long period of loading the fight. The pit is a problem (as well as an asset) but if Jonno can ensure it can be raised to make sure a competition fight can continue as show fight then great.
There are certain differences between competition and show fights, e.g. competition could result in more tatics, less melees & shorter fights = lesser audience enjoyment. On the other hand, competition fights can be more aggressive, the fight has purpose (make sure the audience knows how the fight features in the competition as they are only seeing a snapshot of it) and it also gives an extra edge for the roboteers.
I dont know about others but I drive differently between competition and play, play is practice, competition is putting the practice into action.
Its a perspective.

So far then
6 votes for (S)how
4 votes for (C)ompetition
5 votes on the fence
I think that the important thing is that we all realise that we are putting on a show even if it turns out to have a competetive element.
The 10 second rule did work well at Debenham, and i think the audience appreciate it when the roboteers are seen to want to carry on the fight even after a decision has been reached so they can have some more entertainment.
Jonno....... Get that pit working!

Ok time to but in my vote. I agree with the above comments that a competition can still be a entertaining especially if you only have to immobolise your opponent for a short time to win & can then continue for fun. And from the roboteers point of view it would be nice to have a competition so Im going to say competition.

I think we can safely say that the event format will have to be a mixture of combat and show.
On ongoing friendly competition, with extra special fights, grudge matches, and anything else along the way.
New loading capabilities will allow up to 6 robots inside the arena at once, which should give everyone enough time in the arena in future if required.
We need to realistically have an overall winner of the tour, to make the final event go out with a bang.
Oh and feather weights, watch out, the Chinese are coming over to invade for the final as well. :)

Each of the venues will contain a mixture of entertainment, demonstrations, and an ongoing competition running throughout.
Everything will be laid out from the start and regular updates of placing€™s and fight results will be sent and displayed to both the roboteer community and the general public.
We have been experimenting with different aspects in the past within our shows, and Newcastle saw a turning point, with the audience desperately wanting more.
The new shows will not be simply a production line of fights as they may have been previously, they will be structured, with specific fights / demonstrations / breaks.
As per the last Newcastle event, we will have a series of destruct-a-bots, some other gimmicks to add to the show element.
There will be seeds judged from previous RR event results, these are more for an audience point of view than anything else helping to tell a story.
Judged not only on current performance, but attendance rate, showmanship, and entertainment value.
They are :-
1) Ewe 2
2) Mute
3) Revolution
4) Big Nipper
5) Kan Opener
6) Thor
The fight format will consist of a mixture of white board / entertainment / random fights, We are not saying you will never get to choose, but we want you to have to fight people you would not normally choose to.
Some venues may run restricted appearance money, depending upon ticket sales.
While all robots are welcome at ALL rounds, financially we can not guarantee we will be able to pay for every robot that attends if an event becomes very popular robot numbers wise.
Under normal circumstances, with average robot numbers, we will endeavor to do our best as we have done in the past.
All venues will be dealt with on a first come first served basis, on our official sign up page for each one, after the cut off limit, extra robots will be put on a waiting list for the attendance fee, but will still be very welcome to attend.
We advise you sign up as soon as you decide to come, but please do not sign up if do not 100% intend to attend.
Please be aware specific details may change through out, however we will keep you as up to date as we can where ever possible.
Robots wishing to attend each event, sign up pages for each venue will be online on our website shortly, through this, specific information regarding each event will be fed to attending teams.
We will update when we are ready for specific robot sign up.

Queries :
STU : Sign up page on RR website - is this just for the newsletter - or as a competitor, do I need to do anything else ? I have indicated my commitment to attend all events, is that enough.
IAN : Not quite sure what to say about you and a punk rock group - I have so many questions - some of which I dont think I want answered.
