Sorry, cant make it, Welsh event that weekend.
Paul
Paul - sorry to miss you. Next time, gadget.
Jenny - yes, just the last one. It *might* fit on the end of the tape with the second half of season 7, which would be a bonus from the point of view of lending the thing to a friend in Finland. The footage sounds interesting.
I remember W.R., Dominator and the strange thing made out of a photocopier from the first time I saw it (its the first time I actually heard a robot); Im guessing Plunderbird 5 and Killer Carrot were there too, since theyd been in the rest of the series. Must sort my tape collection. Anyhoo, completing the set would be most appreciated.

Hiya folks, yep, Saltdean again!
Sorry about that Andrew et al, but I have not had the time to investigate a different locale. Next time, I promise!
Anyhoos, Ill be there 6ish, so hope to see you all, though gonna be on my own this time.

Jon
No problem, either Ill cope or I wont, its not going to put me off trying to be there. Its just ironic that youd start talking about places near Sevenoaks just as I move to the far side of the M25!
This may be a daft thought, but for future reference - is there any reason for us not to meet in London? Surely if we aimed somewhere near, say, Waterloo then we could all get there relatively easily (and not have to drive home). Maybe my daily circumnavigation of the M25 has made me immune to the idea of cars being cheaper than the train, though.
Hopefully see people Saturday.

I hope to be there.
Am I invited? Can I come and play? Oh please let me.
Poor lonely Mikey.
Of course you can you silly man,
get in your car, its not that far,
as you will see, Saltdeans by the sea,
so you can come and cuddle me.
:)
PS. any further inland and youll be out of luck :proud:
I will be there.
Sorry all, dont think Im going to cope - too much packing. Have fun.
Next time, Gadget, next time.

Hiya folks, thanks to those who turned up, for turning up!
As you can see by the photo on my profile it was a good evening for winning Snoopies!

Jon.
Hi Jon,
Nice photo. It was a shame not many turned up, but we had a good evening all the same. We will have to post dates a bit more in advance next time.
Jenny
For once I dont look too bad in a photo
I have not long been back from a very hectic weekend and week. Sorry that I couldnt make it. I did try but I had to go elsewhere. Not bloody fair!
I will move Heaven and Earth to make the next one.
Mike.
Likewise.
(Shortest post ever.)

And remember folks - you saw it here! :proud:
Right, time to make arrangements for the next meet. I will try very very hard to attend.
Over to you lads and lasses now. he great Mikey has spoken.
Mike
Ill hold you up to that you dirty stay-away
Anyone got any suggestions as to a location for this one. We have been to the Saltdene Tavern twice officially and once for fun. It is a bit far for some of our members to travel.
Anywhere down your way Mike?
There are a few places. What type of venue is required? one for kids to play as well?
Mike.
Yes, just in case I have David in tow. Theres also another young lad (Alex) whos new to the forum and whos keen to join in. No play area required for him but we need a place that will accept children generally.
I know this is a bit cheeky, but could we aim for somewhere near public transport? I dislocated my shoulder in a disagreement with a driveway a couple of weeks back, and, although its mostly mobile, I still cant drive.
Down Mikes way is good at the moment, since Im now in Bracknell (only a few miles from Chertsey). I can mess with trains if people want to stay in the Brighton area, but Id probably have to leave quite early.
We could always do London, so people can drink without driving, but that may be a pain for families.
Just my tuppence worth.

Andrew, What part of London? Soho?
Mike.
I was at KCL for a bit, so I can find my way around the centre (by which I mean the Strand and off towards Tottenham Court Road)- although doing the Monopoly and Circle Line Crawls probably helps more. I can probably source a decent pub, although whether anything can be found which would be emptyish and allow kids on a Saturday evening I dont know.
Off the top of my head, the Sherlock Holmes (near Embankment) is okay, has an outside, and is pretty accessible from Charing Cross/Waterloo (which is how Id guess most people would come in). The Porterhouse (near St Martins) is huge, and might cope too. Theres something else big near Trafalgar Square (I want to say the Two Chairmen, but I might be confusing it) which might cope, or theres somewhere near the Monument (name escapes me) which would cope well - but thats harder to get to/find.
Im rarely in them on a Saturday night, though, so spacious is probably a relative term.
I was thinking mainly in terms of somewhere easy for people to find (without having to buy a travel card, if possible); if anyone has a more exotic idea, Im amenable.

Exotic - how about Phukhet? If you pay the airfare :)
I vote for the Porterhouse, tis a fine establishment with a very very large selection of beers. Although anywhere inside the M25 will do me nicely.
come on, its gone quiet, I need a drink, a chat and to let my hair down. well, thats not really possible for me is it?
Mike
i thought you already let your hair down when the tash went :)
That was his hair - like all men his age things start to droop and migrate outwards and downwards
Karoline,
I recall a saying containing the words pot, kettle, and black :proud:
I still have everything where they should be thankyou very much - anyway Ill be seeking Jennys advice on you some other time :)
Cmon everyone......what about this night out and drink then? Surely we can get one in before the World Championships?
Yeah, ok, will get me arse in gear and sort out a location. Give me a couple of days (or so!!)
TTFN
Jon
FWIW, my arm has now recovered sufficiently that I can drive, so (although Londons still fine) dont feel constrained on my account.
Sometime soon Im going to have to actually get building, so I feel a little less fraudulent attending these things...

Er, Jon? Couple of days? By the time you get round to it the Saltdean Tavern wont be my local. I think that vulcanism might be more of a factor in the end instead of me moving house :)
Seeing as nothing is happening at the moment - how does 31st July at the good ole Saltdean Tavern sound to everyone?
We have to get one in before we get too busy preparing for the World Championships.
Any suggestions for alternative dates/venues are most welcome although I dont fancy a trip too far as Ill have David on the night, neither do I want to drive and try and park in central London on a Saturday night.
Sounds (provisionally) good to me. Ill see
if I can get there a) on time, and b) without
going a circuitous route this time.

As the time is approaching... are people on for this, or would it just be Karoline (and David) and me?

Geoff and I should be there, so were back at the Saltdene Tavern again. What time are we meeting then. I finish work about 7pm but I can leave a little early. So I suggest about 7pm kick off. I will probably bring Tanja, then David will have someone to play with in the ball play area.
I hope to be there, but there are some long-losts coming for lunch and that may spill over into late evening as these things tend to do.
