Gary that thing is freakin awesome . It gets better eveythime i see it !
Woo, cant wait to see that thing going. Looks pretty long though, I wonder how itll handle.
what grade hardox is it gary??
No idea how it will handle. As far as i am concerned, if it moves, Im happy! :)
No idea what grade it is. To be honest it doesnt matter. 2cm of any grade will do damage and hold itself together.
Looks scary to me, tried it in the garage yet and kill the family car ?
Just a quick update. Latest pic on file.
I have now welded the A frame disc support together and bolted half of it to the chassis (bottom half still to be drilled).
I now have to machine the disc shaft mechanism, take a bit out of the box section to allow the etek to sit correctly, create re-inforcing plates for the A frame corners, machine a support for the etek, sort out the drive sprockets, wire up the insides, paint and test.
Not a lot more to go really :)
thats gonna break
(we all hope!)
What an evil machine...
Back to two drive motors then?
(the four was overkill anyway, and I cant see this monster in a pushing match...)
Youve got something to brag about now - that stings bigger than Geoffs even!
Looks mean. Carnt wait to fight it lol. Better not scratch our new paint tho! (pic on profile):)
Dont bet on that Ewan, remember its not just a question of mass..Its also a question of velocity!!
Gary, looking at the pic. I have a couple of small concerns. Im not going to discuss it here, so if you going to be at UKRG on the 8th Ill have a chat with you there. If youre not, please e-mail me.
Ooh, nice looking paint job on Turb - very tempted to scratch it (not that Ive got a heavy to scratch it with :lame:)

Wow Dave bea-uti-ful.
Its still big Geoff, very very big :proud:
Ewan, the extra two drive motors were not for extra power, merely redundancy.
Geoff, will send an email tonight. I welcome any words of advice.
O and you are very right Geoff, the speed of a disc is just as important as the weight. However it does depend on how you want to deliver your energy as well. The cutter bite will be smaller with faster speed and so will be more likely to cut whereas a slower heavier disc will be more likely to shunt the opponent. Anyways, havent seen scorpian in action but look forward to :)

Is that chain going to stand upto that sort of power?
And also is that box section likely to hold it?
Grant, both are very good questions which I do not have an answer to. I am waiting to buy a decent set of postal weighing scales to give myself an accurate indication of the weight of the machine, I will then beef it up in the areas that I believe require it.
ill look forward to seeing it fight - along with most of the heavyweight spinners! (and your feather :) )
Agreed, it will be an interesting competition!
Well, time to add another bot to the collection :)
Name - not decided yet, going to come up with one when its complete
Drive - 2 eteks
Controllers - 2 x 48330
Batteries - 4 x 13Ah hawkers
Weapon - Unpowered wedge at the front

After my first heavyweight not being up to scratch I decided to go back to basics and keep it simple. Ground Clearance wont be a problem this time as I will have a good 3cm at least top and bottom. I took my inspiration for this one from a few bots at the UK champs.
O and there will be a 2nd version of swarm. I couldnt let that lovely disc rust away in the garage :)
Gary you could have given it to me, lol.
Yeah, like Ed would have the first idea what to do with it!
Now, John & I on the other hand!.... :proud:
lol yeah 5 LEMS behind it :)
will post specs soon
i cant posts specs, cos i wont be able to see!
nice big fat motors, give me wet dreams
isnt that something you wanna keep to yourself mat? :)
Got a fair bit done on the heavyweight (along with the feather) lately. Latest picture on profile.
Finally starting to look like a robot! I now just have to bolt it all together and test it.
A big thanks to Grant Cooper for machining the etek gearbox cases for me.
