i was going to take some weight from the middle of the large gear but will leave plenty round the edge and a good boss. envy tended to flex the chassis when self righting which i dont think helps either. i will put some bars in to stiffen it up a little. i was going to go with bigger wheels and change the drive but it meant i would have had to more work than intended so i will just put on the gears and try with the setup i had. it went well at champs so it will go well again i am sure. notts will tell the tale. if it doesnt work then i will need shoulders to cry on.

oh and john if it doesent work i will be probably looking inside beast and taking notes. :)

got new gears this morning. if anything they will definatley do the job

shane, why dont you use your gears as your wheels, they are Equivalent to Tractor Tyres :):)

i have asked to hollow out to half the width of the gear and 15mm from the teeth. i dont think they will bend at that. well i hope not.

Looking at this the new Envy is going to be mega fast. Boschs on 36V 5.7:1, wow. Have you actually calculated the speed of it

sorry ed but i have changed to mag c40 motors and i will run them on 24v for realibility. so 4000 ish rpm at 5.7/1 wil give on paper 17.7mph which makes it 1mph slower than at uk champs.

8 inch diameter wheels ...

Gravity 3 could easily fight 2 full battles with only 3 9Ah 12V pbq batteries... 20 to 1 on 10 go cart wheels.
Was this due to excellent regen braking in the speedcontrollers ?

And indeed Shane, just a little tip of the flipper, about 1 inch was enough for flipping action...

actually woody i did.

re doing the drive now. same gear ratio but making nice new pillar blocks with bearings seated in them. just got to wait till 2nd week in november now so it will be another week in the garage job getting envy ready. mind you i could always do a respray.

oh and the gears were turned nice and are half the weight. they wont bend. well they dont look like they will there is plenty of steel left on em.

Does anyone have a video of Envy in competiton? I am trying to prove a point about speed as an integral part of a flipper attack.
