very prob 3 way, but i would like of see an entire 1v1 competition, in my opinion would be better...with 3 robots on arena a lucker guy can win 2 better robots, depends of who hit who first...with only 2, we have sure that the best will win.

I was watching the qualifiers from last year and in some matches two bots would be going at it and the 3rd bot would hang back until it was attacked. Its a valid tactic but it means the bot that stays out of the fight has an advantage later on in the match as its facing maybe only one opponent that is already damaged.
I understand guilherme's point, turn your back on your other opponent for a second and you could end up skywards, or scattered to the 4 corners.
Annihilator entry is invite only by the event organisers from the working machines that are not in the semifinals. The criterion are variety of weapon, potential missed in the main competition and, well, winning last year's annihilator.
What make & model is the weighing scale?
As Ed pointed out it will be 3 way fights for the first round. We do this for a number of reasons, one of them being that a 3 way fight often means that you are fighting 2 other robots of different types at once and if you can beat them both it shows the diversity of your machine. If a bad robot hangs back and doesn't attack until one is out then that scores very badly - if they do manage to get a second position in most fights then it's very unlikely to get through to the next round.
8 points was barely enough to get you into round 2 last year, no way you'd do it this time. 10 would be the likely minimum to qualify, meaning you must win at least 1 of 4 by knockout, or win more than 2 by judges.
Be scared spinner boys a late entrant to this years Champs is 4 4 Toon. I have today been granted the 2 days off work and can now make it for the whole 4 days, and whatsmore I intend to WIN.
That's good to hear Clive :)
Looking forward to seeing Tiny Toon and clan giving the spinners a kicking :)
4 points - KO
3 points - Win by Judges Decision
2 points - 2nd place
1 point - Simply entering the arena
At 4 qualifying fights each that's a potential of 16 points.
Currently unclear how the Saturday will be ran with the losers melee. With the finer points system I think we'll see a clearer top 10.
Sign ups close at mid night tonight! If you want to take part make sure you sign up quickly.
Saturday/Sundays events will be confirmed later :)
Yes its going to be difficult to guess how many points you need to get through this year. We all felt last year even if you won all 3 by decision you would only just get through which is why we are going for 4 rounds. As every one is competing both days its going to be difficult to judge how many you need to get through.
I second the question.
I've asked Grant; 6pm this evening, live on their FB page for those that have it.
6pm Live on our Facebook page :)
Whooo!
Less than 1 hour to go! Make sure you don't miss the live draw at 6pm at - www.facebook.com/robochallenge
We will also be announcing the top 8 seeds.
End of the line for Carcinus methinks!
Looks like it might be the end for Flow too :(
To sum up our side: Binky seems to have it easy and Conker 3 has a baptism of fire! [C3, Drumroll and Massacre in one fight and a one on one with 720! Arrrgh!]
Rango's draw is quite forgiving. 3 axes, though, and axes are a bad thing for my machine. Can't wait!
I think I actually got a pretty good draw, HardWired 2's tough enough to probably not be troubled too much by spinners, of which there are a couple in my fights. Worried about Joule as I am with all axes and hammers, but other than that, I've got a good set of fights. Win or lose, this is going to be a lot of fun!

Just looked at my draw and it looks pretty good against the bots I know about. There are some bots I can't find any info on:
Beauty 8 - I'm assuming its largely the same as Beauty 7
Hornet - might be a vertical disk
Hatchet - obviously an axe bot
TS3 - I have seen plenty of videos but the forum won't let me search for it
If anyone has a link to their build pages or videos, it would be most appreciated!
Hatchet has got a baptism of fire for our first ever event, mr mangle, drumroll and binky not once but twice!
Hatchet is my axe bot

Hornet is not the spinner hornet you will see in the vids. Its a new machine with same name. I would like to know what it is as well.
TS3 is Trouble Starter 3. Very similar to Trouble Starter 2.
Oh and for reference...

Binky & Conker 3 [L to R]
Pretty good example of TS3 in action. Completely managed to miss this at the event last year:

Thanks guys!
Here's a fun factoid when making predictions - unlike almost every other drum and beater bot, Mr Mangle has a positive rake on the weapon tips:
http://www.nswrfc.org/Nick/P4010592.JPG
Its modelled on a circular saw tooth and is absolutely perfect for digging in to soft armour and throwing it out of the arena. Funnily enough, about half the bots I was drawn against have plastic or aluminium armour :p.
Guilherme, BonX was the first Featherweight using 3.2mm Hardox armor.
It's the essence of a incredibly tough and fast bunker.
And it's Dutch.
I spotted that in your testing, interesting idea. Personally, I think they will blunt to rapidly and when you do have to sharpen them there will not be enough material left to make a new effective leading edge. But I guess we will see at the champs.
What is the beater made from? Conker 3's is Hardox 650.
DB10 has positive rake as well, and the teeth are replaceable.
Mr Mangle's beater is S7 tool steel, hardened to around RC55. You are quite right that it will go blunt like any other steel weapon, but looking at the draw I got, only Glalactus, Tiny Toon and TS3 are likely to do any damage to it, so there will be plenty of sharp spots left on Saturday. This is the same steel I use on Scissorhand's teeth; given that the length of the cutting wedge on Scissorhands is 44mm and lasts a full competition, I'm optimistic that Mr Mange's 220mm of cutting edge will last for 4 days.
On the other hand, Mr Mangle is likely to end up in the pit for each and every match, so sharpness might not matter so much :)
Hi Ed, Your site link isn't working for me - are there any pictures of DB10 on the forum?
Yeah I know, need to get that removed from my signature. Don't have the time to maintain a site anymore. Its all in bits at the moment having some last minute upgrades and lightening. Only decent pic I have is:

That's a difficult and expensive design to pull off - congrats! I'm guessing the disk is aluminium with a steel tooth?
