Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Ah well, least the reigning champ is out :proud: and tbh, the only reason I went out was because that damned Canadian Killotine clone (yay for alliteration) and at least I gave the chap a pounding while I could, so all is good for a first fight return.
Nah, seriously, well done Tracy, and at least I still have 3 other machines in the competition.
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Haha, Super Gore Eahta was never meant to combat 2 flippers at once, and with Mornington Crescent in there I was doomed to lose. XD Good thing I took at least one bot with me though. :proud: Nice stuff Lewis, congrats to Joey. :)
Uhm...Paul...how's MF2.5 a Killotine clone again? If anything, you might have your eyes peeled to the original version...speaking of MF, I seriously thought my prediction was pants. Well done Tracy, good try Martijn. :)
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Oops yh, I was looking at the original.
Never mind, I still lost and it still won :proud:

The Box Is Locked, The Lights Are On - Let The Wars Begin!
Welcome back robot fans! Last time we saw the fall of rank #1 Sheer Heart Attack 2 at the hands of promising upstart Mobile Failure 2.5, and the continued success of rank #3 Gabriel V, who beat Gravity on a tight decision to advance. So with no further ado, let€™s see the draw for today€™s episode!
Battleboard
Wedga Ennea [#5] vs. Iron Awe 6 vs. Under Pressure vs. Hexadecimator
Psychosis [#7] vs. Supersonic vs. Orrion vs. The Servant€™s Assistant
It€™s the return of last season€™s fourth place finisher Wedga, but now in a new guise with a more powerful flipper! The Annihilation champion is also back in a new incarnation, a less powerful but more reliable version of PsycloniZer called Psychosis! Also returning to the Annihilation Stadium are Annihilation veterans Iron Awe and Under Pressure, but the rest are all newbies... Fresh blood!
From Lincolnshire in England, representing Team ???, ranked #5, Wedga Ennea
The problem with Wedga Triton was that it wasted a lot of the power of its flipper by not being able to get very far underneath it€™s adversaries a lot of the time, but this revision removes all chances of that! It€™s now more wedge shaped and packs a powerful flip, and it€™s compact shape allows it to be armoured in thick titanium. All looks good, but a lack of damaging weaponry could see it out.
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 [as Wedga Triton] ~ Fought well, breezing past superb competitors such as Pure Evil: Back to Basics, The May Tracks Has You, Autoism 3.0 and Traffic Warden to reach the semi-finals, however at this stage it was knocked out by eventual champion Dantu.
Annihilation [as Wedga Triton] ~ Performed somewhat disappointingly, helping to eliminate Orka RV in round one, but getting KO€™ed in round two.
From Richmond Upon Thames in England, representing Team Orr, Iron Awe 6!
This wedge shaped realie packs a punch, with a full hardox shell and full pressure flipper. It€™s twice won the UK championships, although it recently lost that title to Ripper Evo, and is the product of an experienced team. At the capable hands of Jack Orr it should do well in this competition, however it does have a tendency to flip itself if it misses the opposition.
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 ~ N/A
Annihilation [as Iron Awe 5] ~ Survived longer than ISRRNY and Die-Reverta Tops, but crashed out of round three.
From Enschede in the Netherlands, representing Team Varying Everyday, Under Pressure!
This variation on the classic TAN design features wedges in its claws, emulated by Super Gore Eahta in the last episode. It runs when inverted, has a hell of a lot of hydraulic power housed in the claws and can cause a lot of damage, but it€™s ineffective when flipped upside down and in a match with three flippers that could be a problem.
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 ~ N/A
Annihilation ~ Reached round two when Cyrilium 5 was eliminated via default and was promptly ejected from the arena in said round.
From the USA, representing Team Battlebots, Hexadecimator!
Simple box-wedge design with a decent pneumatic flipper, this American realie reached the semi-finals of Battlebots 3.0 and made the quarter-finals of both subsequent seasons. This 2006 version of the machine is powerful and well armoured in titanium, but it has no self-righting mechanism and has been shredded in the past.

All 4 machines move off fairly aggressively as this match begins, with Under Pressure immediately targeting the boxy Hexadecimator and ramming around to get it from the side, immediately bringing the claws into play and sinking them into the titanium, getting the wedges underneath too to remove the American bot€™s traction! With this stranglehold in place Martijn heads for the pit release button, whacking Hexy D against it, but the grip is so strong it doesn€™t lose hold and it could all be over for Team Battlebots very quickly!
Meanwhile Wedga Ennea is facing off against Iron Awe 6. Iron Awe appears to be the more aggressive as Wedga has the boxier sides for IA6 to breach, but Andy is standing his ground and keeping the wedged front facing the bright yellow bot. Jack senses an opportunity to attack and darts in, managing to get under Wedga and flips, sending the ranked machine tumbling over! Andy is quick to self-right in a stylish high somersault, landing on his wheels and reversing against Iron Awe, pushing it across the arena with its superior drive and onto the pneumatic spike! With a quick flip IA6 is on its back, but like Wedga it is quick to right itself, but this leaves it vulnerable to attack from Wedga Ennea who zooms in underneath, scooping up the impressive realie and ramming for the side wall, flipping just as it comes close and IA6 flies over the barrier! A quick and frenzied battle for IA6 while it lasted, but it didn€™t last long.
Over by the pit, Martijn is trying to extract Under Pressure€™s claws from Hexadecimator so that it will go down the pit. He eventually manages to do so and Hexy D tumbles into the chasm before being immediately masked by a cloud of smoke, leaving just Under Pressure and Wedga Ennea in this melee in a surprisingly short time. Martijn now turns to face the oncoming opponent, but never really has a chance to attack as Andy rams straight in between the claws of Under Pressure, getting in underneath and flipping the dutch machine up before Team Varying Everyday can even think about launching an onslaught of their own! The wide white machine sails up and over the fence somewhat gracefully before coming to rest on the camera tracks, reinforcing Wedga Ennea€™s status as the #5 ranked machine.
CEASE!
Iron Awe 6 over the fence and Hexadecimator down the pit; Under Pressure finally caved in too! Wedga Ennea [#5] advances to the second round!
Battleboard
Wedga Ennea [#5] vs. Iron Awe 6 vs. Under Pressure vs. Hexadecimator
Psychosis [#7] vs. Supersonic vs. Orrion vs. The Servant€™s Assistant
From Lincolnshire in England, representing Team ???, ranked #7, Psychosis!
The winner of the gargantuan annihilator tournament Annihilation is back with a vengeance! It still features the three spinning hammers and the invertible cylinder body shape with magmotor drive that saw it succeed in the annihilators, but it€™s also now a lot more reliable and realistic. Will Psychosis live up to PsycloniZer€™s good name?
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 ~ N/A
Annihilation ~ Stormed past ISRRNY, Die-Reverta Tops, Iron Awe 5, Lime-y, Corona, Still Hurting, Jinx, teammate Gehenna, Traffic Warden and finally Nidhogg Cubed to clench the Annihilation trophy!
From Orpington in Kent, representing Team Insanity, Supersonic!
This pyramid shaped axe machine features one of the most dangerous weapons ever seen in Mechanical Maelstrom, and is here to pulverise the opposition. A well thought out design and granite-tough armour could see this one do well, but the overvolted magmotor drive could burn out quickly.
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 ~ N/A
Annihilation ~ N/A
From Richmond Upon Thames in England, representing Team Orr, Orrion!
Team Orr€™s own realie now takes to the arena, previously Iron Awe 4! It packs two powerful weapons; a front flipper and a top mounted pneumatic axe, making for a dangerous synergy. It€™s capable of flipping robots out of the arena and pepper-potting their top armour, but will it€™s own armour let it down?
MM1.0 ~ N/A
MM2.0 ~ N/A
Annihilation ~ N/A
From Northampton in England, representing Team Bloodmage, The Servant€™s Assistant!
After enjoying significant success over on ARC as The Servant, Team Bloodmage€™s excellent rear hinged flipper makes its way over to Mechanical Maelstrom in a new incarnation to kick ass! The rear hinged flipper is powerful enough to throw the opposition from the arena and self-right the robot, but is the 6WD to difficult to manouevre?

Fourth melee already?! Let€™s keep moving! Supersonic is the first off the mark as this eliminator gets underway, heading straight for the pit release button. The pyramid-shaped machine bumps against the release, depressing the pit, but The Servant€™s Assistant comes in on a surprise attack from behind! Supersonic turns to face the onslaught and brings the axe over onto the titanium of The Servant€™s Assistant, not penetrating the armour but sending a smattering of sparks in all directions and taking the machine off the ground slightly! This actually proves to be fatal as Team Bloodmage quickly breach this opening and slam Supersonic into the side wall, firing the flipper to send the axe robot up and over the barrier in one easy move! The crowd go wild for The Servant€™s Assistant scoring possibly one of the fastest eliminations of all time, and the screens above the arena replay Supersonic being flipped upside down onto the barrier and falling off onto the camera tracks in slow motion, just to add insult to injury :P
On the other side of the arena Psychosis has spun up and moved in on the attack of Orrion, smacking into the titanium armoured machine and sending it flying against the spike strip! Jack grimaces and tries to bring Orrion back into the fight, slamming against Psychosis and flipping it over quickly! The axe also comes down, but Andy moves in and rips it clean off the machine with those violent hammers, leaving Orrion with only the flipper! Jack valiantly fights on, pushing against Psychosis before it can get up to speed again and flips it one more time onto the pneumatic spike, which in turn flips the cylindrical bot back over, but Andy is quickly back up to speed and on the attack with the deadly ring, smashing into Orrion and ripping off the side panel, spinning the ex-Iron Awe 4 around as it does so! Psychosis is flung backwards from the attack against the side wall, as is Orrion flung away, but out of nowhere in comes The Servant€™s Assistant, the 6WD powering it in and Lian drives straight underneath Psychosis, firing the flipper to fling it over and out! Andy looks distraught, Lian looks excited and Jack looks tense up in the control pods while the crowd just can€™t believe the uproar this rookie is starting!
With the Annihilation champion unexpectedly thrown from the arena, The Servant€™s Assistant and Orrion remain. However, it€™s a bit of a weighted contest, as although Team Bloodmage€™s robot has a dent from Supersonic and another from Psychosis Orrion is in a bad way. Team Orr€™s entrant is limping severely and this makes it easy for Lian to outmanouevre the broken realie, dodging the front flipper and driving in underneath the side ground clearance before powering towards the arena wall and firing its flipper for the third time to score its third OOTA of the match, sending Orrion up and over the barrier where it comes to rest next to Psychosis! A seriously shocking turn of events as a favourite to win is thrown from the competition and The Servant€™s Assistant, a newcomer, advances!
CEASE!
Supersonic and Psychosis [#7] hit the camera tracks; Orrion joins them! The Servant€™s Assistant goes through!

Gehenna 2 [#11] vs. Typhoon 2 vs. BIACS-By Popular Demand vs. Wedginator X
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
...that was quick! :proud: Great battles, Lewis, and well done to all the winners so far.
Gehenna 2 will be using its alternative anti-spinner back plate for this battle, please. That should help to get rid of Typhoon 2 and BIACS-By Popular Demand, and then I will try and get Wedgintor X down the pit.
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Nice battles Lewis. :) Tactics are on the last page, I believe. :)
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
WOOOHOOO. Im gone for about a week and i still kick robut, great match Lewis and others competing
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, had some troubles logging in over the weekend, and when I get back 50% of my machines is out?! xD
good battles still, now, for my remaining machines
Back to Rock III [#10] vs. Sauron vs. Bio-Hazard vs. Intriguality
PIT! PIT! PIT! That's what I wanna do, really. My scoop are... well... flat things that run across the ground, should be able to get under about anything but I will concentrate on my opponents that aren't Bio-Hazard, lol, and get them where they arent skirted... lift, saw, pit, that's my idea.
Traffic Warden [#4] vs. Merry Hampton Evo vs. Liar 2 vs. Storm II
FLIP! FLIP! FLIP! OOTA if possible... well, I KNOW its possible, so thats what Im aiming for. Oooh Traffic Warden you sexy beast, I can't fail but notice if I meet you head on and you use your weapon... you will be hitting my spikes really. Not sure how much of a point worth noticing that is, but I noticed it anyhow. Will basically go for Traffic Warden wherever his weapon is not able to touch me, and flip! Same goes for all of my opponents really. I dont see any ground clearances I cant overcome, dont forget Liar is 2WD and has got a good portion of its mass resting on that wedge.
O, and I do wish to ask wether this version of Storm has the lifter or not.
well, great fun this is mr mr Lewis!
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Damn, just read the battle again 3 OOTA's? WOW this incarnation looks better than the last.
Am i right in the sense that is now the OOTA record for a single match in MM?
Re: Mechanical Maelstrom Season 3.0
Martijn - sorry haha, if I had known you hadn't been able to sign in I would have waited, I just assumed you didn't want to post tactics :( but to answer your question, this will be the RW7 version of Storm II for consistency's sake, so yes, it has the lifter, not the srimech:)
Lian - I haven't bothered to check but yes, I would imagine so because this is the first time there has been 4-way melees with one winner in MM :) and btw, could I remind you that you will need to decide on which setups to choose in some upcoming fights :)
Thanks for all the comments guys :D
