Re: THE LONG WALK!!
Just to keep you up to date
Pictures of the 6 legs finished only 2 to finish and some of the bracket assembly to connect the legs to the pod. These I have made adjustable so I can vary the distance from the crank to the leg pivot I think this dimension will be quite critical and I don't know exactly what it should be!!

I have found this project so far to be very interesting to do I hope the result will be entertaining for whoever watches it go. :D

That's some hypnotic leg movement 8)
Well done Craig, the build seems to be coming along really well! Best of luck for the rest of it :)

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
i could stare at those moving legs for ages lol
how much longer do you think the walker will take you to make?

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
Hi to answer your question on how long it will take. I hope to get the first pod to a stage that all 4 legs will operate with a cobbled up battery by next week.
If I can keep working on it through most of August I hope to get the second pod going.
I have a feeling the robot will never be €œfinished€Â, as I will probably keep adding bits for years to come but I want it to be sort of ready for the winter tour. :D :D :D
I think with all 4 sets of legs going it will be quite hypnotic

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
those legs do have a certain hypnotic factor, this is a really interesting build , but this isnt going to compete as a fighting robot right ? As part of the brighton robotics club im building a dinky 2 servo walker , give ya a race  .

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
Is that gear-crow a walker too? Are there any videos of it? I saw it on the mutant robots website and started to wonder if this thing ever worked?

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
Froggy
That is a realy nice walker.
Is it all new or made of bits from the MkII Arac bot?
Hope to see it soon
are you going to any events this year?

Re: THE LONG WALK!!
Hi Craig
Many thanks for kind words...The Mk 3 ARAC...is a cut down, much lighter version...the legs and levers all come from the mk 2 bot (no way was i gonna go thru all that again !!)
The body and internals are all new....i have lost the jaws and tail mechanisms to make it much lighter also it is now powered by 2 wheelchair motors as opposed to 4. It now not only looks good ...the bloody thing works !!! and takes up much less room in the trailer.
Cheers Froggy
