Yeah ill try and mill some of the angles down , some of the screw heads holding the gearbox together are stripped so ill have to drill into the old stripped gears and buy new screws the match the thread size . Thanks for the advice James

Alister if the mod is indeed 0.75 then as far as i can see, you have 2 options.
1) Chuck the 0.75 gears and buy some new ones
2) Get a drill gearbox, tear it open and see if there is anything usuable in it.
Yes the total ratio will be 9:1
I think its a nice setup as long as everything is aligned properly and secured well in place. You will just have to make sure that both motors are spinning in the right direction! Could get messy otherwise.
Thanks for the advice gary , i have a knackerd gearbox some where , see if there is any usable gears inside it , BTW is your feather ready to go yet ? My robot just has to get some Nimh in it and wired and its ready .
Its far from finished. I have to put the new 12v golds in, put my new pancake motor for the disc and buy some new nicads.
Hey Alistair, just thought of something. Why not see if you can get some metal meccano gears of the right size. Ok, they may be brass and might well strip, but its worth a shot.

Im in the stage of designing a drum robot for 2006 . I have the basic design laid out. I was going to have drum endcaps at each side of the drum and bearings would be push fitted into the end caps . I also plan on using timing belts for the spinning of the drum . Can i have some suggestions on some motors that may be suitible for the weapon motor , i dont want to go overboard with something like astro 40 s or anything like that , just low cost but good performance .
Im also wondering about a motor that i bought off of ebay a few weeks ago , it is made by johnson and lloks like a mini ev but about twice as big and runs on 25v , anybody tried this motor ?
supply a pic please
On Kishar we have 2 HTI motors running the disc at 24v. At the last event against Dragon 2 it bent the Hardox (4mm) side armour on Dragon 2. Oh and we are going to try 3 HTIs on Kishars disc which will give it around 4.3 hp hopefully in time for Magna.
12v golds..... on 24v
very simple and easy, bit heavy, not that cheap at £25, but still...
or car fan motors, £5 from the scrapyard, on 24v you get serious power
