ok, I remember reading that after it was scraped it was only valued at £11,000, but I have to agree with you, it would have cost a lot more.

according to a high court judge it was only worth £250!
£250. What did the scrap merchant do - charge heavily for plastic disposal?Quote:

Anyway, I've managed to get a peek at BBC comissioning & unless the new series can pull out something special, it won't get made.
If I recall correctly, Ed stated each episode (7th wars) cost 1/2 million pounds.
The BBC, not dependent on ever decreasing advertising revenues, only pays £285K per hour of entertainment footage prime time.
Robot Wars episodes are 45 minutes long.
Getting it back on TV is nice but in the long term, it's a loss leader. Robot Wars needs a more lucrative income stream. Online video may be one such avenue.
Tbh, even if it was professional online videos, just some way of getting back properly to the public that can't get to shows
Would Hardox walls get destroyed by spinners?
depends how thick the hardox is, and what weight class are we talking?
A heavyweight spinner would require stupid amounts of any material to contain it. The walls on the old arena were clearly not up to the job and spinners these days are probably a good bit more meaty than they were back in the day. Any idea what the original walls were made of? Some sort of bullet proof glass no doubt.
The outside walls (the big ones that stopped robots being flipped into the audience) where made of very thin material, I'm not sure exactly sure what material it was, but I know it was only a few mm's thick. The inside walls (around the very edge of the arena)where a lot thicker though.
From my sources, the audience panels were 1/4 inch macralon.Quote:
