words can not express my loathing for flippers, they remind me of armour plated slugs with a bad attitude
But look on the bright side you lost too
Well thats where your wrong, I just wasn't 1st !.Im very pleased with where I got not sure where yet ! but I am seeded but just didn't get into the top 4, will know soon and also got a trophy for winning one of the main shows ! :proud:
Thats all I could ask for !
I think saint was also pitted in another battle.
Just been watching robot wars on Dave to find an annihilator with Kan opener looking exactly the same.
Well, I know that my team finished 2nd with Envy and 4th with Thor. A huge well done goes to Jonno for winning the final with Ripper and not also forgetting really bringing the spirit of Robot Wars alive, it was without a doubt the best event I have been to as RR just gets better and better, keep it up guys :)
Pics and footage will be up very soon! :)
I still think there SLUGS :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:
Congratulations to John , Trevor & the crew of RR for a fantastic event. First time in this sort of format and after Friday's frustrating (for everybody) dress rehearsal the event ran vey well. The new way of entering the arena with a robot was far superior from an audience point of view, bringing far more theatrics & drama to the event. Very well done.
Congratulations to all the winners over the weekend, Jonno that was some fantastic driving - you are now the one to beat!
We had great fun with Scorpion at the event, we won our first competition fight against 3 flippers. I wouldn't call them slugs Craig in our battle two of them were more like turtles stuck on their backs and the other one was impersonating a begging puppy :proud:
Many teams worked very hard, no-one more so than Team Bud as their robots always seemed to be in one after the other & then at the same time, congratulations on a very successful event for you
Just like to say thanks to Jonno, Trevor and everyone at Roaming Robots for a brilliant event. All the hard work definately paid off as the shows looked great from the audience perspective.
The new loading method took a bit of getting used to but by sunday everyone seemed to get the hang of it.
Very well done to Jonno and Ripper for winning the UK Champs- you deserved it after all your hard work getting the event to happen.
Also well done to Swanny, Rob and Jason for 2nd, 3rd and 4th as well as Alan for winning the Annihilator again.
We had loads of fun throughout the event with too many things to mention but I think the thought of dad and Clive getting very 'close' to each other will remain with me for some time
Anyway, thanks again to everyone for a great event and here's hoping we get to do it all again :)
We had the most amazing time, thanks to all involved, especially Jonno and the crew who were just super-human, and for him to win the event too was purely showing off! :D
Far too many people to thank individually, so just a great big thank you from team Die Gracefully Robotics to you all for making it such a pleasure. Special mentions for Chris who did a sterling job as commentator, keeping the crowds entertained, and to the collective teams of Terrorhurtz and Tiberious for giving me what was hopefully the closest thing to a heart attack I'll ever recieve!
Wilhelm's Scream is in perfect working order and will return to the arena soon!
Well what can i say ..........
I'm KNA*****D !!!!!
What a week that was .....I Hope you all enjoyed it ....? Well done Boss and Boss what a fantastic veniew and
congrats to you both oh and well done for winning it ....(great driving skills shown there johnno )
Congrats to all the second places (thats everyone that didnt win !!!) as you all were there and as they say there is only one winner so therefore you all came second ...LOL!!!
Also best wishes to TEAM BUD on 2nd (ENVY) and 4th (THOR)
Rob with 3rd ....
Well finally got home 11pm from London to find that some kind person decided to break into my garage while i was away
so thanks for that and you better hope the POLICE find you before I DOO!!!!! So got to bed 2am!!!
Now my case is repacked and off to work ... oh yeah back to LONDON ......
See you all soon .....PETE...
Hi Guys,
Well firstly i want to say a huge thankyou to all you guys, without your hardwork and patience we wouldnt have pulled it off.
I know Friday was a little frustrating for you, getting there there early and then having to hang around.
The rehersal was such a good idea, as it highlighted faults in the system, and our technical crows nest had issues with the new technology.
But as i knew, by the sunday night show we had it sussed !! Did you know our record turn around time was 3 minutes and 22 seconds. Thats from cease being called, to the doors closing on the arena. Pretty good i think !! Nearly as good as a redbull pit stop.
What a dream, an event at the O2, and to win the UK champs and be up there with the likes of Chaoe 2 and Ironawe 5.... soooooo Chuffed !! Ive rebuilt ripper's insides so many times, but I dont think i need to change anything now.
We now have to go away and look at the future and see what we can replicate at guildford. This kind of event is now our future.
Thanks to the crew, it hasnt been plain sailing, with the new build, new company structure etc... but we got there in the end !!
See you soon.
John
Do ya think we could see the uk champs held somewhere like this again?
Watch this space :-)
On behalf of my team I'd like to thank the Roaming Robots crew for a fantastic event. It was nice being able to play with the heavyweights again and I for one am very pleased that both our heavies came back home relatively unharmed. Also a huge thank you to Froggy for his hard effort and care he put into Bullfrog, it will definitely be put to good use.
Has Bullfrog Breed been sold then? Also any idea of when the DVD will be released?
Here are my snaps from the event if anyone would like to view them :) >
well finally left the O2 last night after the robot event to beat all robot events, left with an aching body, several blisters, several metal splinters, countless bruises cuts and scraps and a bruised shoulder along with another robot and a feeling of achievement and pride......well done to the rest of the crew even rupert (had his uses) :), roll on guilford ......
finally thanks to Jonno and Trevor for making the event happen :0
alex
dont keep it from us all who didnt go, what did ya end up buying? :) :lol:Quote:

Not really, Bullfrog was a combined effort build from our team and Froggy. Most of the build was done via email and parcel service.Quote:

seeded positions
Thanks, everyone for the great weekend!
As I expected gravity has some problems, but it will be improved.
Anyway, we put down a great show, with some major flips :)
To bad it didnt work in our first fight due to transmitter problems...
( it took very lang to link the transmitter and receiver..)
I'm not sure that our performance this year would really justify seeding, or anyone worrying - out in the first fightQuote:

Lots of lessons learnt for us, key one being that we need to get back our low ground clearance (lost when our wheel manufacturer made the wheels too big !) - we'll soon fix that though, it's clearly an issue.... and we may go back to skirts ;)

Hi guys, well done to all for putting on and running a great series of shows.
I put the five vids from pressure's on board camera on youtube last night, my user name is MrMikehm.
You can hear the metal tearing when Tiberius bites into the body work!
Got all my footage uploaded>
I also found out yesterday when having an MSN convo with Dave Weston that I won the sweepstake :)
Yeah, that happened about 4 times i think.. :(Quote:

My number of pictures turned out to be slightly more than 3000... I've been uploading them this afternoon and wil continue to do so tomorrow afternoon. The first three shows (day 1) can be found here, as will the second set of three shows (day 2) by tomorrow night. Images were resized for the site, but on demand can be emailed in the original format of 2496 X 1664 pixels.
The bad quality of pics in both third shows is due to insufficient lighting. Show 3 of Day 1 is also incomplete because we went to look for some food during that show. Sorry,we were just toooo hungry.
I tremendously enjoyed this event. It was so nice to see everyone, but also some old friends, again !

I think Clive and Maelstrom should get a room!
I like the way the wierd alice team have the look that says 'aaah yes, must park my bike' :rofl:Quote:
