yes well we all agree there then :)
It won't go to Holland...
Just blew the Sidewinder in BonX, and neither time or money to really get it fixed in time. Next time....
What time should people arrive on the Friday and Saturday mornings if they're competing - have not seen any logistics information, my apologies if I've missed it somewhere
Hi Ed all will be revealed shortly. We are just confirming a few things with the Gadget Show as we will need to give everyone their passes on arrival. We will be sending out an email to everyone today with a link to a form on our site. Every team member who will be coming to the event needs to have a pass so if everyone could complete the form as soon as possible that would be very much appreciated thank you.
Its a shame you cant make it with BonX, was looking forward to seeing that machine in action again.
James, I realising that sometimes 'suspense' can be created by waiting to reveal things but as each day goes by, hotels get more expensive and potentially fill up - am sure u guys are aware of this !
We're two weeks away from the event and I dint even know if/when I'll need to book a hotel :(
Passes or no passes, you must know what time teams will need to be on site surely ?
Ed, Did you receive your email which says which day you are competing? I can send this over again if you have not got it.
The roboteers need to have special passes which are not the same as standard exhibitor passes. These passes will be given to you on arrival at the event. As previously mentioned an email will go out to everyone today with a link where you can sign all your team members up for passes.
So far we have not received the exact time everyone can get on site. However as the exhibition opens at 9am we are expecting times to arrive by 7:30am. This will need to be confirmed yet.
Yep got that, but nowhere did it give a time to arrive, for teams travelling any distance this is obviously an important factor, have to admit arriving by 7:30am is considerably earlier than I (and I suspect others) anticipated !
Good to know though, thanks James
Hey Guy's, Just a quick note to say that Sign-ups will be closed at midnight tonight wether the full 40 robots are entered or not. We were full but a few robots have had to drop out due to technical issues leaving us 3 spaces left.
Tomorrow we will publically announce the who will be competing on which days. This should give you a good idea who you might be drawn against :)
The draw will take place a week before the event.
As James has said, we are currently working on trying to get into the hall a little earlier than usual to allow everyone time to set-up. Because of the type of event, everyone will need to have all of their equiptment and robots in the hall and tidy before the public start coming in at 9am.
I dont think I have got the email, but i know im signed up for the event.
Just finished rebuilding the bugger, new wheels, new motors, new 2 stage reduction, A123 battery, etc. And the component that breaks is the only one that wasn't new :S, it's probably just the BEC, so we'll see..Quote:

If you can get it running let us Know ASAP.
Any advice on accommodation?
Because I cannot attend until later on in the day on Friday, what should I do about passes ? I am not sure if if I'd be allowed in after a certian time.
Also, recommendations for accomodation for the event, anyone ?
As said before- fort Dunlop is a safe bet
Also a couple of links posted by myself and Tony a few posts back. Can't say how good it is until I've stayed there though.
I'm the same as Jamie, I booked it but having never stayed i'm not sure if its good or bad. It was just quite cheap and offered a cooked breakfast included with the room  :D
£103.73 for 2 nights ?
I could go home and sleep in my own bed for less!
Ours worked out at being £40 per night, but that was a couple of weeks ago. Prices have most likely gone up since it's closer to the dates in question.
I think our place would work out at £30 for just yourself, it was £45 for us because we used a booking agent but if you go direct for a double its £40. Don't know if they have any rooms left or not though.
Anyone got a double they're willing to share ? :P
Thats a very forward chat-up line
£53 a night at Holiday Inn Solihull - pool and gym too :)
I think we know where the after party is then :proud:
I am just compiling the list of who is competing and when and it will be posted today. The draw for the competition is going to be on Monday at 8pm.
As usual we still have LOADS to sort out - but it's getting there!
If you've got any questions please drop me an e-mail and I will look into it for you - I hope to have an update sent out to everyone entered with all the details very shortly.
Awesome, just let me know when I have to stroll in and win this thing

Interesting line up for both days- I'm looking forward to seeing the draw now (as long as i don't get Buzzbar again in my first fight :D )
Good to see plenty of new robots signed up too as well as the return of Vortex.
What is it with the return of Vortex - talk about expectation being high :(
I've really only entered it for a laugh, have had 3 weeks off work on holiday, and thought it would make a fun little project to get running again. Remember that Vortex is almost 8 years old, and it's not run for almost 6 years (most of which it's spent in a pile of parts in a box) - it's a robot competing from another era !
Hopefully it will get drawn against something it can have a good scrap against and if it survives anyone who fancies a go is more than welcome in a whiteboard !
There are far more impressive machines, far more worthy of a mention than Vortex !
Anyone wondering just how 'old school' Vortex is, can visit http://www.teamstorm.com/feathers/vortex.htm
or visit http://www.teamstorm.com/feathers/promo.mpeg for some old faces and blasts from the past !
Old school or not, it still has a Magmotor powering a massive disc at one end of it :P
Good video Ed, brings back memmorys... being scared of ARRGHH because it could go through 3mm ali... Wouldnt of minded a white board with vortex and 360 though....
Grant; what robot is Daiska ? Dutch?
i'm still looking, cheapest option might be a hostel...Quote:

Interesting
Flippers on the Friday
Spinners on the Saturday
speak for yourself!
I'll wait for the draw, but we're in trouble!
I did a quick tally on the known entries each day & from what I can see there isn't a great deal of difference between spinners numbers on either day.Quote:
