The list looks fine.
Only I will probably be driving Tron and Zack will be driving Seraph.
BTW can you fix it for me to be drawn against LS4 as Tron will destroy !!!!!!!!!

I was going to say, the list says LS2 and 3. I thought it was LS2 (Bar spinner, nicknamed Poop-a-scoop) and LS4 (FBS new one)
Nice bit of variety in there so far. Assuming all the robots are what I think they are:
5 flippers
9 pushers
3 axes (counting Seraph)
7 spinners (5 horizontal, 2 vertical)
1 lifter
and 2 unknown (Flux and Juggernaut)
And only 21 days?! Bugger :lame:
We're booked into the Podimore Travelodge on Thursday/Sunday. Need to dig the tent out and try to remind myself how to set it up for the Friday/Saturday. Also nice to see the Toons are able to make it along after all :)
Definitely Jamie, we are very pleased with the level of support we have received and the variety of machines in the competition. Its going to be very tough to call!
Juggernauts a pusher, Flux, I have no idea.
Not going to be turning up with Berzerker - family issues basically, my grandparents are at the stage they need pretty much full time looking after now :/
Thats 1 less spinner for you :)
Hey Guy's, Just abit of an update for you all.
As james has said, the entries so far are on our website www.robochallenge.co.uk .
The time-table will be complete and finalised in the first half of next week so keep an eye out. When that is finished I will send an e-mail round to all roboteers. The musuem door's are open from 10am untill 5.50pm every day. Competition's will take place through out this time, finishing approximatly 5pm.
Camping - there is a local campsite that we will be staying at, http://halfwaycaravanpark.com/ . Apparently it's very cheap to stay there.
Prizes - As you are aware, Horizon Hobby have supplied us with some great prizes this year. Silverline Tools have also supplied some really great prizes for the top 3 robot's.
I cant work out how to post a picture in this thread? But check my profile picture to see all the prizes supplied for the 2010 UK Championships.
The FRA have very kindly donated funds for some very nice trophies to be produced for this year. These are for the top 3 competitor's to keep, along with the returnable trophy the beauty 2 currently holds.
It look's like we will have enough time to add in an annihilator competition over the saturday/sunday, with 6 robot's that are no longer in the competition at the time. The winner of the annihilator will win a DX5e transmitter/reciever set courtesy of Horizon Hobby.
Sign-up's will be closing on the 8th September, so just under a week away. If you have not already signed up, then fill in the form on our website to get your name's on the list.
The Gadget Show will be at the event again on the Sunday, competing in the POwer Tool Drag Racing for the 3rd year running. I look forward to seeing what they have created this time round! Hopefully if we can put on a good enough display with the robot's it might make them want to do another episode on them :proud:
Thats it for now, apart from time-table's is there any thing anyone needs to know ASAP with regards to the event? if so, could you please e-mail me at grant (at) robochallenge.co.uk
Good luck everyone - the mixture of robot's this year looks awesome, I have absolubtly no idea who's going to take it home this year!
I cant seem to put any pictures on my profile either
It's not something ASAP, so I'll just ask here:
Had a look at the camping venue and it does look nice and pretty cheap, with a decent shower block too by the looks of things. Just wanted to check; do we each need to book our own pitch or is it all under a big group Robo Challenge/Silverline booking with spaces reserved and we just pay when we get there?
If your picture is less than (I think ) 800x800 pixels just click on the 'Choose File' button underneath where you'd usually click to submit a post, select the file from your hard drive and click on 'Add the file' and it should add it as an attachment to the end of your post (and it will display in the thread) :)
I am going to call the campisite over the weekend to try and get some cheaper rates for Robo Challenge entries and will let you know asap on that one.
Thats gonna look great in my shed
Entries close tomorrow! If you would like to compete you must enter today as we will be doing the draw for the first round battles very soon :)
I'm afraid I'm going to have to withdraw from this one due to newly arisen university commitments, apologies for the late notice.
Certainly hope to be competing again soon in the future but at least this means there's less of a rush on the build.
For those wondering Flux is/going to be a tracked lifter machine modelled after my beetleweight - I'll post some pictures in the 'build diaries' section in the next few days.

Hi Rob
Yes there are whiteboards. Sunday we will run a morning session for the semi's and 2 whiteboards and an afternoon session with the finals and 1 big melee. The full timetable will be up shortly
Hi all, I'm a newbie interested in joining the robot building community.
I've been reading posts on this forum for weeks now and have decided that I'm going to build a FW and compete next year.
I noticed that this event is in Yeovil which is only an hour from me so I'm going to come along and see what's what.
Do I need to buy tickets in advance or can I get them on the day? Is it going to be possible for me to walk around the pits and see/chat to robot builders? I'm hoping to gain some knowledge whilst at the event.
Perhaps one day, I'll build a HW, but for now - it's the feathers I'm interested in.
James would it be ok for us to just enter for the whiteboards then.Quote:

Rob, bring your robot along as entering whiteboards wont be a problem at all. We will be trying to add as many in as possible.
Mardy, It would be great to see you at the event! If you just buy tickets to get into fleet air arm's musuem then that will allow you to come round to robot area. Just say who you are etc and we will be sure to let you in the pit area to talk to the roboteers and see things close up.
It's always good to meet potential new robot builders at any event.
Ewan - Sorry to hear you can't make it now. It would have been good to catch up after such a long time!
Thanks for the info, I'll definately see you guys at the event. Looking forward to it.
Thanks Grant, i will fill out the entry form just for my car and address info then and see you all sunday 8) .Quote:

Hello Mardy
As Grant said if you pay for entry into the museum than you can see all the exhibits. Just speak to either Grant or I on the day and we should be able to let you into the pits. the roboteers are vey friendly and can give you lots of advice, we will also have our store in the pits arena which will have our motors, wheels, transmitter sets etc if you need anything.
Awesome, we'll be sorted for spares then :)Quote:

Just working on Carcinus at the moment doing a general service. Looking at it, it'll be in need of a rebuild soon, but it can wait for now. It'll be whiteboards only this event, so anyone who's competing in the whiteboards can expect some seriously pathetic and wimpy squeezing power. Just think of it as us giving you a hug :proud:
Sign ups are now closed. Im am putting up our final entry list now. Grant and I will be doing the draw later today and letting you know the format. only 2 weeks till the big day!
OK Guy's the draw has been done.
The first round will be posted on our website after lunch (it's going cold!).
I must say things arent looking too good for beauty further down the competition
Well the first fights for everyone are now up on our website www.robochallenge.co.uk
The seconds fight's will be released tomorrow, and the third fights will be released on sunday.
Looks like im going a long way for nothing then!
I can guess tanto but who is MMM?!
mmm= mini mighty mouse im guessing so trevor
looks like a great mix there, so predictable others look like classic fights
Grant are you filming all the fights???
alex
Beauty first round.... PERFECT
That Sam Smith sounds like one deadly robot :proud:
And trying to pin down Seraph is going to be no easy task!
Well LS2 and Kaizer should be interesting. Will be a good test for the Aftershock 2
Ok
So it's Beauty & the Toons
Tiny toon & Toonimator - quite a good tag-team combo :proud: :proud: :proud: :proud: :proud: :proud:
i don't know what it is but my internet which is usually fast struggles to load robochallenges website, its sooooo slow at loading pages and sometimes crashes, only website I have problems with, is it me lol
whats savage evo hd, i guess savage evo is the seeded one which i know.
what is asgard?
I shall have a look into it Adrian thanks
Dont worry Ed thats your worst battle, cant say that for all of you though sorry thats including myself
it mite b me james ,
same with me, the robochallenge website nearly always ends up crashing and i have to close the browser and go on it again
I am rather concerned for my robots integrity for the first fight, a big spinner and a big axe.
Could be worse. I have a fairly tough robot and 12mm of Nylon as a lid, just the shock damage that concerns me
Oh my god Alex do NOT attack the Toonimator   I know what you are like for fighting spinners :lol:Quote:
