Brilliant ian! I'm guessing hardox is 400hv? Let us know what I owe you
Disc on it's way back.
please let it get lost in post :(
no realy carnt wait lol
Unfortunately john it didnt get lost- but i did miss it, its at the depot ill get it in the morning..
Went to eds place this evening (and possibly got a speeding ticket on the way because of some cops with nothing better to do sitting in a lay by just behind a 30-national speed limit sign.
So wasn't that enthusiastic when i got there but we got abit done never the less.

Also got some weight out of the lipo box's all in all saved about 100gram.
Got the delrin gears for the pot fitted aswell but they ended up being the wrong size.. will order some new ones tomorow.
Received the disc Ian its great thanks, cant even scratch it with a file :) tried to Polish it up a bit with Brillo pads (those green things from the kitchen) but didn't want to polish it to much because a) my arm hurt, b) it wasn't having hardly any effect and c) I'm not sure how deep the coating is and i didn't want to go through it?
I wish you said you were polishing it, it would only have taken me 10 minutes on the polishing wheel at work!!!! i even tested it on the back because I thought you were leaving it as is.
Do'h! I thought those were bits you'd missed lol Ill just keep trying for now- its not important really. PM me with postage costs ian!
I'll send you a request on paypal.
Paid- thanks Ian.
Wahoo it selfwrights! finaly got the gearbox working nicely, just got to make a little mount for the pot and wire it up, will mount the pot tomorow and wire it saterday and hopefully get a vid online.
Also machined some weight out of a few other bits. lost 30g from the battery box and another 20 from my armour.
Looking to be 19grams underweight at the moment, Can machine another 20gram out of the disc gearbox maybe...
Also my new esc's will hopefully be with me in the next few days. Ill post more about them when they arrive.
Ooh. :D
Please post some vids up if you can/when you have the time! :D
Still no vids.. not had chance, striped it down to re-wire.
Bored of soldering deans connectors so going to update this and call it a night.
Pic of the weight reduction done on the drive lipo box;

H5 mount finished and ready to be installed, Theanks to Dave gamble again for sorting them out... having some issues with the pot feedback but atleast its working as a speed controller at the moment.

Just finished doing abit of wiring.. Like to take my time on wiring as its one of the most important parts of a robot in my opinion.. Got a new super bright green LED for the drive power and a red super bright LED for the disc lipo.. both running of the mains with resistors inline yada yada... Its to bright tho i keep looking over them and blinding myself lol

They came :D
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...ds/360escs.jpg
two new ice 160a controllers from castle creations.. thanks to joe ford from castle creations for sorting us out with them at such short notice. He even got them built to order :)
Those look sweet Dave. :D
dont even think they have come out yet so them are the first set made
Just pluged one in for the first time and got a 6inch flame shoot towards my face... Really not impressed at the moment.
really :O
it not workin now then?
Long story short- no. Worked hard on it for 4 weeks to get it ready for friday and its sitting up my garden at the mo with smoke pouring out of it and snow landing on it. carnt b ar**d with it anymore.
Oh i also blew up my spair H5 trying to set up the pot feedback.. flicked a dip switch which should of made no differenace according to the manual, the arm jamed down on the chassis and pulled to much current through the board, taking out the pot whle it was at it..
What a failure of a nght.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=414HfmDQahQ 1st fight with bd5
2nd fight with db5
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=529Uww47X-s
and dont ask about the fight with db5 and little spinner but i have not got that one but it will be here
Cheers john,
Had a good day filming for the gadget show-The tool steel tooth had no problems slicing through the 4mm titanium front end of the gadget bot robot and took no real damage to the tips.
After that fight with DB5 i saw some magic smoke come out the front of the robot.. its either the speedo or the motor that's blown... either way i dont care as it will urge me to carry on with the upgrades and those parts would be redundant anyhow.
I laughed hard at the end of that :rofl:Quote:

Thanks..
And for all those people who said brushless will never work...
Here's what me and little spinner made of DB5 before Ed said stop...
http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/v...s/360db5ls.jpg
Fair play though he put what was left of the link back into what was left of the chassis and the LED still came on and the motors made a noise lol
dave ya forgot that we loosened db5 up!
Kenny, what you think to this for the upgrade..

running one of those on 6s lipo will be faster then two smaller brushless and have about the same power- But more reliability and less weight...
go for it.....
Got the motor thanks to kenny- its the biggest motor i could get to fit into 360, figured it was more reliable on one smaller motor then two smaller motors, i ran the gadget show event on one 1400w motor running on 4s lipo, so ive ditched the dual brushless in favour of a single 2700w motor on 6s lipo.
Eds making the mount, then when thats done it should bolt striaght into were the old gearbox went... ill loose weight of the gearbox and an exstra esc, prob save about 250g so should be well in the weight limit now.
rubbish quality pic of the new motor compaired to the old one;

360's pretty much done now... So im going to be starting on a new project... 460... Not sure weather to make it an over head bar spinner with real powerful magnets and 4wd from dewalts with one big motor again but run it of 12s lipo.. or make an invertable full body spinner, again 4wd but less powerful more weight in the weapon..
At the moment im tempted by the hazard style bar spinner...As with powerful enough drive i can play about with it at normal events aswell as full combat plus ive never seen a successful over head bar spinner in the uk.
Opinions? :)
I'd love to see you make a overhead bar spinner, Hazard shows they can be very succesful, the main reason I am making Heretic (an antweight overhead bar spinner).
Hazard is a super impressive robot, and very sucessful, plus theres not one like it in the UK. Altho an invertable shell spinner/FBS could be close to impossible to beat unless it throws itself oota.
Go for a friction-driven weapon if you're going to build a ring spinner (invertible FBS), Dave. Their weapon doesn't slow down much, enabling for lots of hits. :)
...already got a solution to the ring spinner mechanics in my head and its not friction drive... Im leaning more towards a hazard style at the moment anyhow after i saw this for a bit of inspiration;

That looks cool. Y not have a counter balenced bar so its like a 1 tooth spinner, Have it penis shaped or rooster shaped. Male Chicken Slap?
tom your gonna get banned talking like that you crazy fool
i think the invertible full body spinner would be cooler but tis up to you
Why? I dont get it? Ahhhh wait... Yes, Sorry bad grammar.
Why not y:PQuote:

perhaps a translational spinner? with some brushless motors it would be awsome
Youd never get a translational spinner anywhere near as good as one of the others.
nah dont like translational. there not exactly monuverable. I think its going to be the hazard style just for fun.
Tom- i did think about a single ended bar spinner..

That motor, on 12s thunder power packs if grant will allow me to run 12s.. through the same sort of gearbox as 360 should give me around about 6000rpm blade speed. I think im going to aim for about 4kg of blade. nitride coated P20 again... it seems to do quite well. 460mm tip to tip.. to get away from engagment problems the one side of the arm will be about 20mm longer then the other.. with a pocket milled under it to balance it correctly. Dewalt drive, magnets and maybe a wotty 100S to control it....Its all just thoughts at the minuite but as with 360 im only going to be using the best bits and ill take my time over it.
It wont be anymore damaging then 360 i imagine, will just spin up faster, be way easyer to drive and hopefully be more predictable. 360 was always more of a told you i could get brushless working project then a combat machine.... but its still not totaly working so id best get that done before i start buying bits for the new one lol
