LETS PLAY ROBOTS :-) :-) :-)
...you said it Shane. As long as robots are fighting and people are being entertained, and the roboteers are happy and well fed, who cares about the members chosen to rule us all? :)

FRA elections 2009
Hi All,
I have come to understand that the Returning Officer for these elections has resigned due to a difference of opinion.
Would someone like to enlighten us as to why?
-
FRA elections 2009
Can I vote Shane as pres :)
-
FRA elections 2009
Im under the impression that it was because Ed was barred from standing as a candidate for president.
I still think he should be allowed as he has ticked all the boxes required to be a candidate. If people dont want him then they wont vote for him.

FRA elections 2009
This is extremely worrying.
Im sure there was a message about the returning officer on this thread a couple of days ago but it seems to have gone
Why has it gone?
Why have the commitee not posted anything?
If this happened some days ago why has it not been reported to the electorate?

FRA elections 2009
Ian please dont take this the wrong way or anything but in the past there has been more pressing issues and some very heavy debates on this forum and you have never spoken or had an opinion before. Its nice to see your opinion and thoughts of course but the smelly fish is that since all this has kicked off with Mr hoppitt you have an opinion.
Why dont you just say you dont like the FRA in its current state and trying to make it look bad because Ed wants the president spot.
Mate from what i see that is what it looks like.

You know what i think.......the committee should let Ed stand.
There is an old saying.......you dont know what you had until you have lost it.

FRA elections 2009
Hi Shane,
Thanks for your kind post,
However this has nothing to do with Ed.
I support the FRA as they have done a great job in keeping Roboteering going, more power to their elbow!
I am however concerned with the political procedure and the transparancy of the electoral process of these elections.
The alleged deletion of germane postings is contrary to this process.
The returning Officer, as was, is a respected individual and head of the Greenpeace anti-whaling commission with an international reputation. If he has resigned over electoral issues, then these issues need to be published and addressed in an open forum.

i was just pointing out what it looked like to me. Hope you wernt offended.
By the way i heard Trevors WIC worked and he is very happy with it. Will be testing mine on wednesday...i will let you know how it goes either way.

FRA elections 2009
I think people can read between the lines and end up going round in circles, I will say exactly what I mean. Please don€™t read anything else into it.
I want FACTS about all aspects of this election so I can make an informed decision on whom to vote for.
By the word FACTS I mean any information that has independent verification (A letter, meeting minutes or similar) not €œhe said she said.€ If this could be sent to those eligible for voting in this election I, and I think everyone concerned would be very grateful.
Thank you.

FRA elections 2009
Hi Ian,
1. The only posting removed was one by Karoline at the request of Ed Hoppitt. He felt the post was negative campaigning and as per our Election Rules it was removed subject to review. I have received no complaints about any further postings.
2. The returning officer, as was, interpreted the FRA constitution regarding the eligibility of a member of the FRA when he or she is an event organiser differently than the governing body. The returning officer, as was, does not feel that it is fair to exclude Ed Hoppitt running for president based on the way he interprets it. The committee http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/cgi-...OST116529voted

In response to request from Ed, I would like to add the following:
Ed Hoppitt is currently banned from the FRA forum as http://www.fightingrobots.co.uk/meet..._07.pdfminuted

FRA elections 2009
So I€™m trying to get the story of Ed Hoppit and the FRA so far.
1/ Ed was a member of the FRA in the past.
2/ Ed held an office of some sort in the FRA.
3/ Ed did something that lead to him being stripped of his office/status, and banned from the FRA forum (what ever it was dose not matter at this moment.)
4/ Ed€™s team was not banned from the forum because the problem the FRA had was down to one person Ed.
5/ Ed is not now a member of the FRA at this point in time.
6/ Ed wants to stand for the position of President of the FRA, via the team he is a part of, who are members of the FRA, if he gets the position he will apply to the FRA, for the reinstatement of his membership to the FRA, which by then he would already be President.
I am again not saying anything I just want to get the facts straight, if I have something wrong in the list of events please tell me but remember I am only looking for the FACTS in this situation.
Thanks
Craig

Craig - just to be clear, Ed is a member of the FRA as part of the team membership for Team Storm - for which I have completed the form during for 2008 and 2009 and therefore I appear as lead member name

Knowing Stu, its just a typo, but knowing Stu, it might not be!
-
FRA elections 2009
Thanks Tim would this be correct
1/ Ed was himself a member of the FRA in the past. (He had his own card and membership number.)
5/ Ed wants to stand for the position of President of the FRA He qualifies as a member, because he is a member of a team, that in turn is a member of the FRA.
Dose that fit the facts.
Thanks
Craig

Another quetion to the FRA- how come people who signed up for the FRA who didnt have FRA membership last year are allowed to vote for every other position apart from president and chairman? I signed up at the ealyest possible chance ive had (last saterday)
I was a member last year, but not individualy- i was part of a team.

Dave, you have mail.
Please everyone, if you ask me a question directly via email at least give me the opportunity to reply before putting it on the forum. I dont consider that a reply in less than half an hour isnt bad going!

Dave, I think for 2009 there are currently 2 new members with the remainder renewals. It is a difficult task to handle sending voting papers to members who have only just joined being as their details are not yet in the system. We have to have a cut off at some point being as the voting closes soon.

Some peolpe signed up at Whitwick, Tim has the details.
Get their e-mail addresses, e-mail the ballot forms, how long does that take?
There are just over three days before voting closes! Plenty of time for the newbies to vote!

FRA elections 2009
Sorry If I have not understood something Karoline but I see no mention of a cutoff in the election voting proceedure:
1.5 Voting Procedure
€ Voting will be conducted as per the timelines set out above, eligibility to vote is based upon FRA membership and is limited to one vote per membership; eligibility to vote is for current FRA members - defined as those that have signed up for 2009 or those who were members in 2008 and have yet to renew
€ Voting will be conducted via email using the email address provided on your membership form
€ If you do not receive your voting details by the 9th February 2009 then please contact the returning officer
€ For positions where there is more than one candidate standing there shall be the option to vote €œfor€ each of the candidates
€ The winner of the election for each post will be the person with the most votes
€ For positions where there is only one candidate standing they will be elected uncontested to the role.
If it was posted elsewhere I must have missed it.

There is no system to be fair, its all bodged. Call this an Association... seen RC car hobby people websites with something better lol.
Need a nice secure reliable pro system, like we have at RR, but then saying that not everyone can be assed to use it or dont know how to use it, cough mike cough. haha!

Granted, the best voting system, and best explained, is as good as a chocolate teapot if people cant be assed or choose not to use it.
There has been no shortage, however, of confusion on the eligibility to vote issue.
