Next up, clusterbot Sacrifice (one an invertable box, the other a TAN-like crusher, designed to beat opponents by running them into the pit) takes on Inferno, a very low cylinder armed with a spinning disc on top!
House Robots: Megaraptor & Ultimate Snakebite
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As the two parts of Sacrifice separated, both ran at the quickly spinning Inferno, which stayed where it was for the moment. S1 (the box) charged in first, hoping to slow the disc for S2 (the gripper) - and immediately flew backwards as it was struck! Almost immediately, S2 rushed in before Inferno could react - the spinner easily fit inside the claws, which closed! The spinning disc was instantly halted, while S2 was spun around for a moment by the force! S1 waited for its twin to start dragging Inferno towards the pit - only to find that S2 wasnt moving, knocked out by the transferrance of force from Infernos disc! With its padding around the motors, Inferno had survived - just! It was moving slightly inside the dead embrace of S2! S1 decided to act, hitting the pit release and shoving both Inferno and its twin towards the pit itself! Inferno resisted, turning itself and S2 around - S1 made steady progress, but failed to reach the pit before it closed! It hit the release again, only to find Inferno dragging S2 away! With another shove, S1 almost delivered them to the pit, but Inferno managed to escape again! Another shove brought S2s body over the pit, but Infernos superior weight kept it balanced. As S1 moved to strike again, the pit closed and the buzzer sounded - the two robots would have to be separated!
CEASE!
It took some effort, but the immobilised S2 was pried away from Inferno - it was left to one side in the arena, leaving Inferno and S1 to battle it out alone!
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Now free again, Inferno showed the damage it had taken in the earlier impact - its disc was still spinning, but not so quickly, and one drive was partially damaged, leaving it moving awkwardly! The 35kg disc was still fast enough to knock S1 away as it charged, but not causing quite as much damage as Paul would have liked! Inferno moved slowly towards S1, the next blow knocking it face first into the wall, then backed off to get spinning again, as S1 reversed back into it - and missed! Now running past Inferno, S1 went for the pit release, and charged Inferno again, getting knocked away again but slowing the disc! It charged again, this time going a shorter distance, and reversed back into Inferno, now stopping the disc enough to get in a real push! The damage to Inferno left S1 with slightly superior HP, but as Inferno resisted, S1 failed to pit it before the pit closed! S1 quickly ran back to the pit release, only to find Inferno was spinning up again - when the disc contacted the cluster-half again, it proved it was still able to do damage, shearing between the panels of the Hardox armour! As they met again, S1 sustained another scar but successfully slowed the disc again: Inferno tried moving away to get spinning again as S1 came in on the attack again! It was spun away a relatively short distance, but was now failing to act on it - the initial hit from the full-powered disc, and the subsequent ones, had proved too much! The second half of Sacrifice was counted out, while Paul breathed a sigh of relief, contemplating the necessary repairs to Inferno!

INFERNO GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
And after that, we have Axe-O-Lotl (a Comengetorix-shaped robot with a deadly pneumatic axe) clashing with System Shock 4.0 (a powerful box wedge with a lifter at the front and ramming spikes at the back)!
House Robots: Drilla Killa Ultimate & The Martian
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
System Shock 4.0 charged hard at Axe-o-Lotl, only to find its opponent running into its sides and bringing the axe down! The diamond tipped head did little to the Hardox on top: enduring the onslaught, System Shock 4.0 managed to just turn into Axe-o-Lotls side and begin lifting with its wedge, ramming Axe-o-Lotl hard into the opposite wall and onto its back! System Shock backed off, charged again just as Axe-o-Lotl selfrighted, and hit the wall itself with a crash! Axe-o-Lotl reversed into System Shock but couldnt use its weapon from there, so turned and managed to land one hit as the rammer retreated. When both robots went for another side assault, System Shock just missed, while Axe-o-Lotl missed with the axe! It turned, only for System Shock to run into it head on - while the axe struck again, doing little, System Shocks wedge extension allowed it to come under Axe-o-Lotl again and charge it into the arena disc! Axe-o-Lotl flew away with a nice scar on its rear, but it shifted to avoid System Shocks next attack, then ran into its opponents side and managed to bring the axe down into a wheel gap! The tip sank into the tread, but System Shock still had superior power, resisting Axe-o-Lotls attempts to drag it, and bringing the two of them towards The Martians CPZ!
As the two robots struggled, they came within reach of The Martian, who blew a jet of flames at them and brought its saw blades into System Shock 4.0! With its opponent seemingly pinned, Axe-o-Lotl released and began smashing at the armour with its axe again - the Hardox still stood up to the punishment, however, and System Shock managed to shove its way past The Martian and out of the way! Axe-o-Lotl moved quickly, pushing its fleeing opponent against the wall, but after taking some more blows from the axe, System Shocks superior power brought it out of danger again! As Axe-o-Lotl reversed, System Shock turned after it, and once the two robots went on the offensive, they ended up side on again! System Shocks wedge extension gave it the advantage, tipping Axe-o-Lotl over before it could turn! With its opponent in its clutches again, System Shock 4.0 rammed Axe-o-Lotl into the pit release! With a fire of its axe, Axe-o-Lotl managed to knock itself off the wedge, but this came to naught as System Shock rammed into it side on and sent it down the pit!

Eternia vs Nitrogene 5.0
Black Panther vs Robo-Hedgehog
Awesome fights, boo to predictions. :proud:
Still no smoking from Inferno - Paul had better hope his luck holds out :P
Great fights though *goes back to work out how his machines can avoid going out in round 1 of the next one, and gets a new sign for Nidhogg made so its obviously not in all caps* :proud:
w00t! Both my robots through to round 2! :proud: Also awesome fights Rich! :)
WOOOT! Knock-out for Inferno, and win one for Inferno. Luck hold out Joey, no way - my skill on the other hand...:proud:
Eternia vs Nitro-Gene 5.0: Simple plan here - ram into his sides, dont use the flipper, but push him against the wall behind the pit and flip him over against the glass, so he cant self-right. Then open the pit and let him drop.
Good luck Leo
Why would I not be able to selfright against the glass exactly?
My tactics: open the pit, flip nitro-gene a couple of times and get him in the pit. Eternia is much more maneuverable than Nitro-Gene could ever be.
And good luck Paul, you will need it. :)
(Message edited by leorcc on October 03, 2008)
Round 1s almost done, but there are two more fights to go yet! First, a battle of the flippers, with Eternia (a Gravity-like robot with a 1300kg-force flipper) taking on Nitro-Gene 5.0 (a low invertable box with a nitrogen-powered flipper)!
House Robots: Drilla Killa Ultimate & Ultimate Snakebite
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Rather than attack Nitro-Gene 5.0, Eternia immediately reversed into the pit release, keeping its front towards the rapidly approaching Nitro-Gene! Charging in, Nitro-Gene hit the wall, allowing Eternia to swivel into its side and shove at the skirt! After a few moments effort, its low flipping arm just managed to surpass the skirt - once it had turned Nitro-Gene towards the pit, the flipper fired! Nitro-Gene was flung through the air, somersaulting, but landing on its wheels short of the pit! Eternia rushed in, but Nitro-Gene was quicker, moving out of the way, turning around its opponent and running into its sides! The pit had closed, but Nitro-Gene moved over it, shoving Eternia against the wall and using its own flipper! The force flung Eternia upwards, and it ricocheted off the wall, landing with a bump on its back behind Nitro-Gene! As Nitro-Gene attacked again, it missed as Eternia selfrighted! Moving back forwards, it came under Eternia once again and mercilessly threw it in the direction of the pit! But Pauls plan failed again as Eternia hit the floor and bounced onto its wheels, then ran for the pit release, swiveling again as Nitro-Gene came on the attack! Once again, it successfully brought itself into the side, strained against the skirt, and surpassed it! Eternia shoved Nitro-Gene a little way towards the pit before firing its flipper - this time the judgement was more accurate, as Nitro-Gene 5.0 landed on the edge of the pit and slipped out of the fight!
CEASE!
ETERNIA GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
Now, the final spot in Round 2 will be filled, by either Black Panther (a semi-circular wedge armed with a pneumatic axe and lifting scoop) or Robo-Hedgehog (a tracked box with a sledgehammer and interchangable front - here, itll be using a hinged Hardox scoop)!
House Robots: Assassinator & Horcrux
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Both robots accelerated extremely quickly into the arena centre - Robo-Hedgehog tried to turn into Black Panthers rear, but met the curved wedge instead, allowing Black Panther to swivel around and meet it front on! Both robots activated their hammer weapons, both coming down with a bang on the opponents armour! With its superior pushing power, Robo-Hedgehog was able to push Black Panther backwards, landing a couple more blows with the sledgehammer but still taking punishment itself! Eventually, they reached Horcruxs CPZ - Black Panther was shoved up the wedge of the House Robot, who activated its flipper and sent it flying to one side! Black Panther selfrighted, but not in time to escape from Robo-Hedgehog, who came in from behind and shoved it into the arena disc! Black Panther was sent spinning to one side, but quickly recovered, evading Robo-Hedgehogs charge and running into its side! Before Robo-Hedgehog could escape, it was flipped over, allowing Black Panther to rain punishment on the underbelly!
Quickly, Robo-Hedgehog used the hammer to right itself, and found itself facing Black Panthers side - it shoved with the scoop, managing to take its opponent into the arena wall and use the hammer effectively, landing shuddering blows on Black Panthers thick armour! This went on for a long while, until Robo-Hedgehog decided to release its dented opponent before its pin time limit was up! Surviving thanks to its thick armour, Black Panther immediately sped away with Robo-Hedgehog pursuing, and with a quick unexpected turn, managed to come side on to its opponent again! The curved wedge coming under the side again, Black Panther flipped Robo-Hedgehog over again, shoving it against the top wall while bringing its axe back into play! Robo-Hedgehog began selfrighting as it was pushed: it ended up leaning against the wall and using its tracks to slide down as Black Panther continued to attack! Before Robo-Hedgehog could get away, however, Black Panther was under it again and pushing it into Assassinators CPZ! The House Robot was quick to bring its pickaxe down on the already damaged Robo-Hedgehog, who now faced double axe action, as well as a quick hit from Assassinators spikes! Finally, it managed to struggle out of the way, outrunning Black Panther before turning to come on the attack again!
Both robots met in another head on collision, and both fired their hammers again! Robo-Hedgehog furiously brought the hammer down once as it shoved Black Panther backwards again, Black Panthers own axe came down - and then suddenly, Robo-Hedgehog wasnt shoving anymore! The force of Black Panthers axe had been too much for the titanium armour, and knocked it out! After waiting a few seconds to be sure its opponent was immobilised, Black Panther decided to have some fun and shove it onto the arena flipper - and so Robo-Hedgehog spent the last few seconds before it was counted out flying through the air, while the audience cheered, hoping this frantic fight could have gone on longer!

BLACK PANTHER GOES THROUGH TO ROUND 2!
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the draw for Round 2:
SoR X vs The 6isc
Eternia vs The May Tracks Has You
System Shock 4.0 vs Under Pressure
Achilles vs Squish Reincarnated
Black Panther vs Wedginator Devilution
Reventon vs Troubloon 6
Exodus vs Wedge Devolution
Back To Rock III vs Inferno
For System Shock Ill stick with the lifter setup and try to flip Under Pressure over, when its inverted it cant push me around so Ill try to get it down the pit. Exodus tactics will come later.
As for predictions I think SOR X, TMTHY, Achilles, Wedginator, Troubloon 6 and BTRIII will head through to the quarters, hopefully with 2 of my robots :proud:
Awesome stuff so far Richard, and good luck everyone still in :)
This is how Exodus will be kitted out:
30* front wedge
Hydraulic claw (on wedge, bottom half should run flush to the floor on the wedge)
No Track Coverings (Invertible)
Rear inverted wegde angled at 30*
Torsion sprung skirts with hardox hinges
Random colours :p
Tactics are to try and grab Wedge Devo, then drag it to the pit
Good luck Steve :)
RESPECTIVE PREDICTIONS:
SOR X to end up pitting 6isc
Eternia to flip May Tracks around until it breaks
Under Pressure to pit System Shock
Uh...judges decision which Squish will win on damage?
Black Panther to either immobilise or pit Wedginator
Reventon to explo...uh...Troubloons discs to break the blade and then immobilise Reventon
Exodus to be flipped until breakage or pitting by Wedge Devolution
Infernos overvolted and therefore overheating high current weapon motors and the overworked and undersized high current drive motors (which will not be able to dissapate the heat built up effectively due to all the foam and limited internal space) to either break something through heat buildup or set fire to the overkill polyurethane foam shockproofing within the first minute of the fight, thus giving BTR an easy ride to round 3.
(Sorry Paul, but some anvils have to be dropped)
TACTICS: Box rush! BOX RUSH! and MORE BOOOOOOOX RUSH!!!!
Son of Ripper X vs. The 6isc
SoR, I think.
Eternia vs. The May Tracks Has You
Shreddin madness! At least on Eternias tyres anyway. :proud: Frank through.
System Shock 4.0 vs. Under Pressure
System Shock to pit it.
Achilles vs. Squish Reincarnated
Squish, Id say.
Black Panther vs. Wedginator Devilution
Pah, another axe vapourbot. :lame: The plan here is use my power advantage I have over Black Panther and try and outpush him...which of course is vain if he gets under me. :proud: I dont really fancy the entire front of Black Panther has a 0 ground clearance, by the way, unless it was skirted. Maybe close to, but not entirely 0, lol, so Ill try and get around the flipper to the front surrounding it, but preferably the sides or rear, catch it on the wedge, hold it there with the barbs, and get it down the pit.
Reventon vs. Troubloon 6
Just smash the hell out of it!
Exodus vs Wedge Devolution
Wedge Devo, easily.
Back To Rock III vs. Inferno
Paul may have gotten lucky last time, but I dont see a way he can get by Back to Rock. Martijn through.
w00t for round 2, Richie. :proud:
Back To Rock III vs. Inferno: Oh contray Mr. Kunz and Mr. McConnell - I see a VERY clear way opf kicking the sheet out of Back To Rock - spin up, attack the sides, and rip him to hell and back. Given the fact I have a Hardox disc and he has Titanium armour, I should knock some panels off, not easily, but Ill still knock some panels off, maybe even tear out a motor. The other back-up (for me) is because my disc is mounted on the top, it give gyroscopic effects, making me more stable, and because my teeth reach down so low, he cant just scoop me up and flip me, as Ill bash his front low down. The skirts look tasty to eat, its boxy shape gives me lots of room to hit and tear, his main attack (the scoop) his useless against me when Im spinning, but when Im spinning I can hit any part of him, and his saw should be a tasty thing to break.
Good luck Martijn - Im looking forward to it
System Shock 4.0 vs. Under Pressure
Clamp, lift and pit or just clamp and pit, the version that involves lifting is preferred though so Ill try not to get flipped!
Back To Rock III vs Inferno
1. I see Paul edited his stats on ZED today, is this even allowed in the middle of a tournament?
2. I noticed Infernos weapon is quite detailed and has quite some numbers in it to run through the Team Cosmos kinetic energy calculator, which I did. For the numbers that were not available I was QUITE guillable and what I saw is that the disc puts out 50 kJ at most, but seeing Paul claims 140 kJ Id like to know which calculator Paul used for that. Either way, as it stands I can survive a hit or two, but Inferno cant survive the pit ;)
It does seem that he went and removed the shockproofing once I pointed out the problems with it and ignition :P but in the middle of a tourney that may well be not on.
Yes, its not on - but whats also not on is to let Inferno pass through the How To Improve thread without saying a word, then pointing that problem out just before its first fight
You wouldnt like it Joey robot went against Steven robot (just an example) and you worked on that robot, and everyone said that it was a serious contender in the making, and then they say something that would make your design loose, then you lose and you gets p***** off that the fellow members of this forum didnt say this until you fight.
My big rant is over - one for the album :proud:
I can see your point there, but it was something I only noticed after it had been through HTI and had had a chance to get a proper look at the stats...
While Im here and in my current mood, a word of advice for you: Dont go over the top on things like what bolts hold the armour on, what precisely the shockproofing is, etc etc. If you just state that its shockproofed and it has armour we will assume the shockproofing is adequate and the armour is held on fairly well, but if you start complicating things theres more opportunities to make a mistake, such as having bolts that shatter under impact, and rigid or flammable foam :P
Going overkill with the detail without fully researching things is giving us excuses to write your robots off like that.
Changing stats halfway through a tourney is still verboten, in my opinion, though.
The 6isk will attack the spinning rim of Warrior SKF and attempt to stall it before just keeping on it and flipping it around with the disk. If Infusion manages to get away, Ill use the wheel hubs to stall it before attacking again. Since neither of us is going to do much damage to the other, this fight will have to be won by controlling the fight I think. That said, hopefully I can break a weld and remove a tooth of his - something I dont need to worry about :proud:
May Tracks will use similar tactics as it did against Nidhogg, going for the sides and using the spike/flipper combo to either take out the wheels or tear the base to shreds.
*Reads The 6iscs tactics*
LMAO
Im not 100% sure wether your rant was directed at Joey or me Paul, a bit of both I presume.
Its really quite simple, Im not that active in the How To Improve topic. There are other people who do that job better than me and if wed ALL reply on EVERY robot the topic would become a mess. There.
BUT, when for the sake of tactics I take a look at my opponents robot and I see a claim that is plain wrong, I refuse to let this pass. I refuse to lose against 140 kJ hits when I can see no way whatsoever to reach 140 kJ with this design, and a simple calculation (Cosmos Calculator) learns that it cannot possibly be higher than 50 kJ. I might as well claim my armour is twice as thick to compensate for this, as a matter of speech, it doesnt work that way.
But like I said, what method did you use to calculate this output? Perhaps I can see where you went wrong and help you tweak some things a bit.
(Message edited by MajinB on October 09, 2008)
Just so people are aware, Ill only be using Infernos original stats.
Barberous vs. Warrior SKF
Dervish doesn€™t have a very powerful disc, and I have pretty thick armour. So the chances of it causing any damage is slim. The only other thing it can do is try and flick me upwards. But if my own rim is spinning, the gyroscopic forces should stop me from flipping over. The next thing I noticed about Resonance was that it has €œweak armour in places€ so I intend to slice that armour up. As Frank says, this fight is won by taking control of the battle first. But axlebot style robots have never been the most reliable at keeping control€¦ Neither of us can really do much to each other. The best thing I can think of is to slot my wedge between the wheels and try and bounce it back towards the pit. I have pushing abilities on my side, which Tremor lacks.
In the other battles, I think Eternia, Under Pressure, Achilles, Wedginator, Troubloon, Wedge Devo and Back to Rock will progress. I€™m looking forward to Round 2, it€™s been good stuff so far Richard! :)
Just for the record, I did analyse Inferno in the How Could I Improve thread. In fact, I discussed the shock proofing issue then. If there are still problems with Inferno€™s design, can we take it back to the How Could I Improve thread rather than clog this tournament up?
Read the stats properly AJ. Weak armour in places, sure. But those places are never going to be hit by a horizontal spinner :P
Soon 16 robots will become 8 as we enter Round 2 - and what a fight to kick off the round with, as two former champions, SoR X and The 6isc, go head to head!
House Robots: King Cobra & Megaraptor
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
SoR X charged in with its rim beginning to spin, as The 6isc came forward to greet it! Moving faster, SoR X slipped its wedge under The 6iscs wheel hub, but before it could fire, The 6isc brought its weapon into the side of the wedge and sent it flying! The gyroscopic forces werent at maximum, but they were enough to send SoR X into a spin and land with a bump! As The 6isc advanced, SoR X twisted and came on the attack - before The 6isc could touch its rim, it fired the flipper in time, and now it was The 6iscs turn to imitate a UFO! Cartwheeling through the air, the former champ landed inelegantly, and found the other former champ racing towards it again! Again, SoR X was just fast enough to get a flip in before The 6isc could strike, and send it tumbling again! Rather than attack The 6isc now, SoR X hit the pit release - as The 6isc came in, it reversed away, but not quite quick enough to escape a blow to the rim! SoR X spun away again, but quickly recovered to attack - as the two robots collided, The 6isc used its wheel hub against the rim! Unfortunately, it was spun into the wall, and failed to escape before SoR X charged from behind and flipped it over again!
As SoR X attacked again to ram The 6isc towards the pit, The 6isc managed a blow on the front, knocking its opponent backwards! While SoR X was still disorientated, it attacked the rim again, not doing much damage but giving the crowd a good show as SoR X flew! The rim was soon back up to speed as SoR X came on the attack again - this time, both robots struck with their weapons at the same time, and both were catapulted across the arena! Undeterred, the well armoured contenders simply charged again - this time, SoR X won out, flipping The 6isc up and into the wall! The 6isc barely missed its opponent as it bounced across the arena wall before stablising, only for SoR X to come in from the side and flip it in the same direction! Coming to rest by the wall, The 6isc successfully turned its wheel hun into the attacking SoR X again, slowing the rim, while its own spin away was slowed by the wall! It quickly attacked again, striking the rim with its disc, but although its weapon was slowed and it was tilted a little, SoR X still landed right side up! Just dodging another advance from The 6isc, it ran round its opponent into the pit release again, dodged The 6iscs next attack, then attacked itself - and again, both robots went flying as the weapons were used simultaneously!
Landing again after bouncing off the wall, The 6isc moved away from the reopened pit towards SoR X, who didnt quite manage to time the flipper right and took a side hit that knocked it further away from the pit! On the next assault, SoR X was luckier, getting its flipper under The 6isc again and tossing it not towards the pit, but towards Megaraptor! The 6isc managed to roll off Megaraptor, who lowered its claws and successfully grasped a wheel hub of the VFT5 champ! The 6isc was unceremoniously lifted into the air, while Megaraptor spun victoriously and SoR X watched with relish! After a few seconds of lost dignity, The 6isc was dropped to Earth with a bump, only to be flipped against the southern wall by SoR X - the disc hit the wall and the robot attached bounced across the floor again, with SoR X in pursuit! Another flip before The 6isc could stabilise sent it very close to the closed pit, prompting SoR X to hit the release for the third time! The 6isc quickly moved away, and as SoR X attacked, it successfully evaded and whacked the rim! SoR X was sent into the wall, skimming very close to the pit it had just opened!
The 6isc backed away from the pit before coming to meet SoR X again, successfully bringing its hub into the rim again but not taking advantage as it was spun away by the force! SoR Xs next attack failed again as the disc struck the rim and it flew, almost hitting the lower wall! Cornered, SoR X fearlessly advanced on its opponent, now managing to get underneath and use the flipper again! The 6isc landed on the side of one hub and bounced a little, failing to avoid SoR X flipping it disc-first into the wall again! The 6isc flew through the air and landed facing SoR X, who moved around The 6isc hoping to shift it in the direction of the pit again. But when it charged, the disc hit the wedge right as it fired - it did little to the 6mm Hardox, but both robots went flying again, SoR X bouncing off the wall! Their armour still holding up despite the beating, the robots recovered and came back on the offensive - a flip on one wheel hub sent The 6isc towards King Cobra, but the House Robots axes missed the slippery axlebot! In the next collision, The 6isc got another point, hitting the rim and sending SoR X slamming into the northern wall! SoR X kept its distance until the rim was spinning again, then charged - it proved to be another bi-weapon collision as SoR X was struck and The 6isc was flung! The 6isc now landed in front of King Cobra, striking with its weapon before the House Robot could react! Before the two contenders could come together again, time ran out - the first quarterfinalist would be decided by the judges!
CEASE!
Dominance: SoR - 6/10 x 6 = 36, T6 - 5/10 x 6 = 30 (both robots had attacks where they successfully used their weapons and were in control, but SoR had more)
Damage: SoR - 2/10 x 5 = 10, T6 - 4/10 x 5 = 20 (neither robot did that much damage, but The 6isc did more)
Aggression: SoR - 8/10 x 4 = 32, T6 - 7/10 x 4 = 28 (SoR X was a bit more aggressive)
Control: SoR - 7/10 x 3 = 21, T6 - 7/10 x 3 = 21 (both robots had equal control)
Strategy: SoR - 6/10 x 2 = 12, T6 - 6/10 x 2 = 12 (both robots had some strategy - SoR to flip The 6isc towards the pit, The 6isc to slow SoRs rim - and both had mixed success)
Style: SoR - 7/10 x 1 = 7, T6 - 6/10 x 1 = 6 (both robots catapulting attacks had some style, but SoR had a few more attacks)
Total: SoR X = 118, The 6isc = 117
SoR X GOES THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS!
For the next battle, two flippers again - Eternia against The May Tracks Has You!
House Robots: Drilla Killa Ultimate & The Martian
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
The May Tracks Has You started faster, managing to bring its wedge extender under Eternias side - a little bit of turning later, it was fully underneath, and ramming Eternia hard into the northern wall! With a quick reverse, May Trackss top spikes sliced against Eternias aluminium baseplate, and one impaled the left tyre! When the flipper fired, Eternia was flung to one side, landing on its back but selfrighting almost immediately! But as it tried to turn towards May Tracks, the damage to the left wheel was clear as it wobbled awkwardly! It failed to turn quickly into May Trackss side, while the other robot came under the side again, almost tipping Eternia over as it rammed hard! It soon has Eternia pressed against the wall again - this time the spikes missed the wheels but did more carving against the baseplate, and Eternia was helplessly tossed again! This time it landed right side up while May Tracks turned and charged towards it - the two robots ended up meeting head on! Neither was able to get under the other this way, so May Tracks backed off to come in again, again taking advantage of Eternias slowed turning and ramming it into the wall! This time the spikes did find the right wheel and ripped into it as May Tracks reversed again before giving Eternia a third flip!
Landing on its back again, Eternia selfrighted but had little time to try and attack on its crippled wheels before May Tracks rammed it again, carrying it all the way across the arena for a slam into the southern wall! With this attack, the spikes managed to pierce the aluminium baseplate! May Tracks gleefully pinned its victim for a few seconds before throwing it backwards again - Eternia bounced and landed on its wheels, but was now barely able to move! It could do nothing to stop May Tracks mercilessly running into it for a fifth time - this time, as the spikes dug through the baseplate and Eternia went skyward again, a fatal blow was delivered to the circuitry! Eternia landed on its back, but made no moves to right itself - it was completely dead! This time, The May Tracks Has You wasnt so nasty as to shove Eternia onto the arena flipper, but instead waited for the countdown, basking in the glory of a Round 2 fight that wasnt so close as the first!

THE MAY TRACKS HAS YOU GOES THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS!

System Shock 4.0 vs Under Pressure
Achilles vs Squish Reincarnated
Awesome fights, and well done AJ. Plus I love those flipper spikes :proud:
Round 2 continues with two VFT newcomers, System Shock 4.0 and Under Pressure!
House Robots: Megaraptor & Drilla Killa Ultimate
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
System Shock 4.0 sprang forward towards Under Pressure - the axlebot twisted, but wasnt quite fast enough to stop System Shock bringing its wedge extension under the side and lifting it into the air! Turning around, it proceeded to ram Under Pressure hard into the wall, successfully overturning it and rendering the lifting part of the claws useless! The inverted Under Pressure spun around and drove at System Shock, closing the claws, but the longer parts were above System Shocks body and the tips failed to grip it before the box wedge reacted! It used its wedge to lift Under Pressure again, but as it was being carried across the arena, the axlebot slid off and ran at System Shock as it almost crashed into the wall! It successfully hit System Shock side on, and successfully closed the claws on it! Unfortunately, without being lifted, System Shock had superior drive, and as the two robots struggled, they began moving more in System Shocks preferred direction, towards the pit release! When, after a few tense moments, they hit the release, Under Pressure continued to grapple with System Shock, but was successfully carried towards the pit! Before they got there, it released and tried to come at System Shock 4.0 with a full-on charge, but suddenly finding itself unhindered, System Shock 4.0 shot forwards a short distance, then reversed straight back at the attacking Under Pressure and managed to give it a well-placed shove! The two robots turned around the pit until Under Pressure was dangling over the edge a little too much - down went the crusher, with System Shock 4.0 coming close to falling in itself!

And now two VFT veterans, Achilles and Squish Reincarnated!
House Robots: Ultimate Snakebite & Horcrux
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As Achilles and Squish Reincarnated met in the arena centre, both robots were naturally looking to reach their opponents sides, all the better to use their weaponry! The winner of this contest turned out to be the faster Achilles, managing to bring its low spatula under Squishs skirts and lift! Once Squish was helpless, it was time for a shove into the nearest House Robot, Ultimate Snakebite, which opened its jaws to accommodate the oncoming competitors! Squish found itself being shoved into Snakebites gaping maw, its Hardox on top thankfully saving it from much damage! Achilles released and let Ultimate Snakebite show off for the crowd, spinning around slowly with Squish in its grip! Fortunately, it soon released, allowing Squish to come on the attack again - when Achilles charged, Squish managed to come into the side with a well placed turn, but it struggled to get past the skirt! After being pushed around a little, Achilles escaped - turning its vulnerable rear away from Squish, it charged into its opponents side again, and proved again it had less trouble with skirts!
After being lifted once again, Squish Reincarnated was slammed hard into the arena disc - Achilles was still gripping it at this point, leading to both robots being spun around by the force! Deciding to continue the punishment, Achilles carried Squish Reincarnated towards Horcruxs CPZ - rather than use its flipper, the House Robot turned its rear spinning axe into Squish! The axe left another scar, but spun the interjoined robots round a little and nicked Achilles too! Steering clear of the CPZ, Achilles finished by ramming Squish against the wall and managing to overturn it! Squish immediately activated its side arms to selfright - Achilles charged again, and as Squish tried to escape, it just got hit on the rear by its opponent and was turned round by the blow! It tried to take advantage and pin Achilles against the wall, but its wedge still wasnt low enough to get under the skirting! Wriggling out, Achilles charged back in, ending up clashing head on with Squish - after successfully pushing Squish back against the wall, it reversed, then managed to come into the side again as Squish moved away! Quickly lifting Squish again, it reversed into the pit release, and had no difficulty carrying Squish Reincarnated to the open pit and dumping it in!

Black Panther vs Wedginator Devilution
Reventon vs Troubloon 6
Awesome fights again, Richie, and 3/4 for predictions... :proud:
Mmmm...likin the predictions so far (except Joeys :P), so Im pleased. :proud:
Whats wrong with my predictions, if I may ask? :proud:
Moving right along, Black Panther takes on Wedginator Devilution for spot number 5!
House Robots: Horcrux & Megaraptor
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Both robots rushed to the attack, attempting to swing into each other as they met! Black Panther was just a little faster in doing so, bringing its axe down hard on Wedginators top and trying to bring one point of its scoop under the skirting! Unfortunately it wasnt in a good position against Wedginator, who managed to swing away and run into its opponents semi circular wedge! Black Panther turned, bringing its wedge head on into Wedginator and swinging the axe down as it was shoved into the arena wall! With its more powerful drive, Wedginator managed to come underneath Black Panther and catch it on the barbs! As the wedge moved to the pit release, then towards the pit, Black Panther fired its axe again, managing to loosen the barbs hold and shifting just as Wedginator flipped it towards the open pit! As a result, Black Panther landed to the side of the pit, on its back, but it was only delaying the inevitable - as it selfrighted, Wedginator ran into it and shoved it the short distance to the pit, in another quick and easy victory!

WEDGINATOR DEVILUTION GOES THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS!
Now whos next, rammer Reventon or spinner Troubloon 6?
House Robots: Assassinator & Drilla Killa Ultimate
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Reventon accelerated across the arena and hit Troubloon 6 head on, the front flywheel striking the scoop! Both robots flew from the impact: Troubloon 6 recovered faster and attacked, but Reventon was too quick, turning around its opponent and going for the side, then slamming Troubloon 6 hard into the north wall! Reventon pinned it there for a moment before backing off to attack again, but Troubloon 6 spun around and managed to nick the side, stunning Reventon and allowing for a better hit before the rammer made its escape! As Reventon charged in again, it skidded around Troubloon 6 before going for a full on assault, but went into the rear flywheel and was scarred again! Troubloon 6 reversed into Reventon to give it another nick, but inadvertently exposed its side and was shoved against the wall again, while Reventons blade only scraped the armour! Once again, Reventon backed off, and this time it successfully managed another side on attack, pushing Troubloon 6 across the floor on a circular path until they reached the opposite wall, close to Assassinator!
Reventon shifted to shove Troubloon 6 towards the House Robot, but didnt drive so perfectly this time and received a flywheel in the side, slamming it into Assassinators CPZ! The pickaxe came down but did little to Reventons armour, although another hit from Troubloon 6 caused more substantial damage! Reventon reversed away again, leaving Troubloon to feel Assassinators pickaxe itself! As Troubloon moved back towards its opponent, it was outpaced again, managing another nick before being shoved in the side again, and taken all the way into the south wall with a bang! The impact knocked Troubloon 6 out of Reventons grasp, and it reacted by spinning round to cause more damage with the front flywheel! Reventon risked running head on into the front to push Troubloon towards the arena disc, but it didnt pay off - Reventon was spun away again, and when it came to a stop, its front blade had been knocked out! Dodging another attack from Troubloon 6, it went for another side attack but just missed, and narrowly avoided Troubloons rear flywheel coming back in! A few moments of dancing around ended in Reventon getting in on the side again and carrying Troubloon straight towards Drilla Killa Ultimate!
Shoved against Drilla Killa Ultimates front, Troubloon 6 felt the force of the three drills, but as the pincers came together, they touched the flywheels - the force knocked DKU and allowed Troubloon to wriggle away! Reventon dodged another attack and charged, but with a quick turn from Troubloon, it only scraped along the side, allowing Troubloon to reverse in and hit it again! Knocked against the wall, Reventon angrily charged into Troubloons rear, but this again knocked both robots for six! Attacking once again, Reventon just took another flywheel blow along the side - it proceeded to circle Troubloon 6 again before shoving its opponent against the wall once again! After this shove, Reventon did a U-turn into the pit release, unfortunately exposing itself and taking a side hit in the process! It aimed for Troubloon 6s side, while the spinner turned in response. The first shove wasnt a good one, only taking Troubloon a little closer to the pit - the spinner spun around and whacked Reventon cheekily on the rear, almost sending the rammer flying in itself! Coming back in, Reventon managed to reach the side again, but didnt shove Troubloon in quite the right direction, and so the pit closed with nobody in it!
Troubloon 6, meanwhile, was shoved towards the north wall, striking it with the rear flywheel and being spun away to attack Reventon again - Reventon dodged and the two robots ended up parallel before breaking away, Reventon taking another hit from the rear flywheel in the process: the thick Hardox was beginning to show the punishment! Troubloon 6 moved away from the wall but this allowed Reventon to come in side on again, and give it another good wall slam! From there, Reventon reversed across the arena back into the pit release, and Troubloon 6 followed cautiously. Another dance in the arena centre followed as Reventon went for another side attack - eventually succeeding, it shoved its opponent right in the direction of the pit....and just missed, hitting the wall to the side! When it released, Troubloon 6 immediately spun, sending Reventon skidding away, right over the pit....just enough for it to overbalance and fall in! Troubloon 6 had won this close battle, thanks to a rather novel pitting!

Exodus vs Wedge Devolution
Back To Rock III vs Inferno
w00t again, both my vapourbots went through, and in equally awesome battles! :proud:
Good stuff once more, Richard :proud:
In this next battle, reigning champ Wedge Devolution will have its hands full against interchangable Exodus, now fitted with torsion sprung skirts and a hydraulic claw on its wedge!
House Robots: Ultimate Snakebite & King Cobra
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
As in many previous fights, both robots were aiming to get under their opponents side as they met in the arena centre - with its torsion-sprung skirts, Exodus found it couldnt turn quite as fast as Wedge Devolution, who in turn struggled to surpass the skirting! It managed to shove Exodus in a circular pattern, taking them into the northwest corner - being shoved at a difficult angle against the corner allowed Exodus to escape, but in doing so, it exposed its inverted wedge to Wedge Devo! The reigning champ reacted quickly, firing its flipper and neatly tossing Exodus onto its back! As Exodus landed and tried to run, it was attacked from behind and flicked over again! This time, it managed to evade Wedge Devo, and attack side on itself! The wedge didnt manage to beat Wedge Devos skirting, but the champion was successfully shoved into the arena disc to have its Hardox armour sliced! Wedge Devolution dodged as Exodus charged in for another assault - it reversed into its opponent to pin it against the wall, but that wouldnt do much good! It moved off to turn, and as Exodus reacted, the two robots met head on!
With equal power between them, a stalemate ensued until Exodus broke away and aimed for its opponents side, but Wedge Devolution still turned faster and caught Exodus, pushing it into King Cobra and letting the House Robots axes smash the titanium top! Exodus had to struggle for a few moments before it got away, but that just allowed Wedge Devolution to come under the rear wedge again and flip, this time leaving Exodus propped against the wall! Exodus used its tracks to shift itself, but didnt drop down before Wedge Devolution came in again and gave it a taste of its own medicine - or rather, a taste of the arena disc! Exodus turned again as Wedge Devo charged after it - the two robots ended up parallel before Wedge Devos faster turning allowed its flippers blade to come under Exoduss inverted wedge again. It fired the flipper, and Exodus was successfully tossed over! Managing to run underneath Exodus before it settled, Wedge Devolution decided to finish the rookie, driving it against the pit release! But as it turned, Exoduss tracks were used again to try and run off the wedge, and it was left propped against Wedge Devos side! This ultimately failed to save it as Wedge Devolution turned to get a better grip, then ran Exodus back towards the pit, and down and out!

WEDGE DEVOLUTION GOES THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS!
Now we finish off Round 2, with Back To Rock III taking on Inferno!
House Robots: The Martian & Assassinator
3, 2, 1 - ACTIVATE!
Back To Rock III rushed forward - straight past Inferno and into the pit release! Swerving away from Infernos advance, it then charged head on! It didnt fire its lifting arm quite fast enough and so was spun away, the teeth having struck the front plates! Having failed to fly into the pit, Inferno moved ominously towards Back To Rock, who charged in again, still taking a hard knock itself without sending Inferno towards the pit! As Back To Rock tried to reverse away, Inferno managed to strike it on the side, tearing at the skirt! Dodging another attack, Back To Rock moved back towards Inferno and tried another charge, taking another hit to the scoop which left its front saw motionless! The disc on Inferno was slowed, but it was spinning again when Back To Rock attacked again! This time Inferno struck a front corner, leaving a scar in the titanium armour! Back To Rock now brought its rounded rear into Inferno - flung away again, it charged head on again, slowing the disc some more but still sustaining damage! Backing off a little and bringing the disc back up to speed, Inferno managed to hit Back To Rocks corner again, denting the titanium even more!
Looking unhealthy but still functioning, Back To Rock III reversed back into the pit release while the slower Inferno chased it! It skidded around Inferno and tried charging it towards the wall - but after the hit, Inferno didnt fly quite that far! Back To Rock recovered quickly and with its next rush, managed to send Inferno nearer to the wall! The teeth grazed it, and Inferno was knocked for six, nearer to the pit! However Back To Rock III had been slowed - the hits to the front had jammed the left front wheel! Still, it pressed on, ramming Inferno again, but still the spinner didnt quite go into the pit, and now Back To Rock III had taken even more damage! As the scooper reversed in, Inferno was lucky not to fall in: as the pit closed, Back To Rock limped back towards the release! Inferno came back towards it, and Back To Rock rammed it yet again, only to be flung against the wall with a wide wound in its front panel! Now the damaged Back To Rock was moving even slower, Inferno came back in and ran into the damage it had already caused, ripping the panel open even more! This attack didnt tear the panel off, but it was enough to switch Back To Rock III off! Inferno spun down as its brave but knackered opponent was counted out!

INFERNO GOES THROUGH TO THE QUARTER FINALS!
So now we have the draw for the quarter finals:
Troubloon 6 vs Wedge Devolution
SoR X vs Wedginator Devilution
Achilles vs The May Tracks Has You
Inferno vs System Shock 4.0
Send in those tactics and predictions! And thanks for the positive comments - Im glad I can still please!
Still wooty as ever for the most part Richard, keep on going :)
PREDICTIONS:
Wedge Devo to get Troubloon down the pit after much flipping
Wedginator vs. SOR X...not calling this one. Sorry, but its close and could genuinely go either way. :proud:
May Tracks to get Achilles down the pit after much flipping
Inferno has got to catch fire at some point. Its a physical impossibility, and that goes for both the chances of it winning and the robot itself. :P
Seriously, running two Mags at 36v with no mention of any protection on them...Pauls toast. He has to be. :proud:
Yesh, good ol battles once again, Richie. You can still definitely please. :proud:
Now, quarter-final line-ups!
Troubloon 6 vs Wedge Devolution
Oh...dear. The VFT6 champ. Eek. :S
The ONLY good things are that Im invertible, and there are no OOTAs, so flipping me over does essentially nothing but delay me a bit. However, I cant underestimate Mr. Most Popular Vapourbot, so I will have to do my best.
Stay WELL away from the pit and house robots, and I mean WELL away, and try to immobilize Wedge Devo with the discs. If I can get his flipper to open prematurely, attack the rams. Attacking the skirts does relatively nothing as I dont plan on getting under Wedge Devo, so just keep hitting, hitting, and more hitting, preferably with the rear disc since its higher up.
Son of Ripper X vs Wedginator Devilution
Holy God, YES. :proud: We meet at last, SoR. :proud:
It worked before, so lets try it again. Grapple him with the barbs and send him down the pit. Crash into the spinning rim to stop it first, but try not to get the barbs ripped off, lol. Stay away from the house robots.
Achilles vs The May Tracks Has You
Did these two fight before? Regardless, May Tracks FTW.
Inferno vs System Shock 4.0
Someone please tell me why Inferno got this far. :proud: System Shock through easily.
Lookin good Richie, and good luck to both Steve and AJ. :proud:
Why do people hate Inferno SO much  Hes not THAT bad Kody! Whats he done wrong, dont balme him, blame his fath...oh - he doesnt have one :proud:/:lame:
Troubloon 6 vs Wedge Devolution
Troubloon has done EXTREMELY well so far, and well done toKody for creating such a good vapour thats done so well, but Wedge Devolution is going to make mincemeat out of it, as I believe its Hardox will take the blows and get under the discs each time and flip it about like nothing to win the JD.
SOR X vs Wedginator Devilution
Im siding with Kodster on this one, as his barbs are what that rim is going to hit, and those barbs are as tough as tough stuff  Wedginator to stop the rim and pit SOR quickly.
Achilles vs The May Tracks Has You
Purely depends on who gets under who on a first hit. If Alex gets under, hell control the fight. If vice versa, then Alex is doomed :proud:
Inferno vs System Shock 4.0
Ive done well so far, which is good, but I think I can get further. I wont get through the 4-7mm thick Hardox, and since its a monocoque, no point is trying to remove it bolt by bolt from the chassis, so Ill just go for the aggressive approach - spin up and JUST KEEP HITTING HIM! Liam didnt state shock-proofing, so I should shock-kill him OK. Failing that, try to dent the side armour ONTO the gears and chains and try to stop his wheels turning.
Good luck Liam - please come back
PS: WOOT! I beat Back To Rock III - the best moment of my day  Awesome fights Richard, and I look forward to the Quarters.
(Message edited by paulc on November 04, 2008)
Paul, Ive tried to tell you whats wrong with Inferno before, sometimes subtly, sometimes not, but the fact remains that youre not listening to me about it.
Thats why we seem to hate it :proud:
Awesome fights Rich, and may I say again what a pleasure it is to see you writing again:)
Achilles... Not the opponant I was expecting, but nevermind.
Tactics as ever are to get under the side and damage the tyres, making him hobble around and thus be unable to manouver as well, and also compromise his front GC. If the wheels are uneven, so will the GC.
Thanks to his waaaay overkill Etek drive and top speed, May Tracks should easily be the more controllable machine.
Im guessing Wedge Devo, Wedginator Devil and Inferno through the other fights.
Great fights again, Richard! You€™re definitely back to your best.
SOR X vs. Wedginator Devilution
This should be a good fight. I€™ll start off by trying to cause some cosmetic damage. The skirts look fairly tasty, so they will be the first target. If I can rip those off it should rack up damage points and allow me to get under it easier. Then I€™ll go for those barbs. They are strong, but I think a few good hits could dislodge them. The 5mm Hardox is probably a bit too tough to damage, but I€™ll have a go anyway. Once I€™m content with the damage caused, I can start flipping. As long as I still have battery life, my flipper should keep going, where Wedginator has limited CO2. So that could play in my advantage. I just need to make use of my weaponry to flip and damage as much as possible. Then try and get it into the pit.
Good luck Kody! :)
Wedge Devo, Achilles and System Shock FTW in the other battles.
Most excellent, Richie! :proud:
QUARTER-FINALS
Troubloon 6 VS WEDGE DEVOLUTION
No sense in wasting good CO2 on an intertible opponent in an enclosed arena. Im going to stay passive for this battle and save the flipper for when it is truly needed. Charge Troubloon right from the off to stop whatever disc is in the way. Quickly try and slide underneath and slam it into whatever hazard is handy - the disc, the CPZs, the Pit, anywhere. Wedge Devo should hold up quite well against the double discs, but Id rather deal with Troubloon ASAP. Better safe than scrapped.
Good luck to Kody and the other survivors!
Also, Liam says he wants to use the lifter set-up for System Shock 4.0 and flip Inferno.
