Indeed, just one. The only really powerful flipper i can think off (there will be more no doubt) that uses 2 rams is Tsunami.

I would appreciate someone helping me with deciding upon a pneumatics system for Cosmic Thunder 2.
And by helping I mean giving me suggestions on what should be put in there :P
Cosmic Thunder 2
Robot Concept - Low wedge leading up to a flipper
Mass - 100 kg
Weapons - A really nice flipper.
Can it self-right - Yes
Velocity - 16 mph
Turning Circle - 0
Ground clearance - 0 at the front, 0.5 mm at the sides, 0 at the back
Skirts - Side and back skirts
Wheel Type - 6 inch wheels
Motors - Two magmotors geared for torque
Body Shape - Reshaped like Voltronic
Armour - 6 mm Titanium skirts, 4 mm see-through Hardox (lol, but I cant be arsed to change the CAD, so if theres no such thing as see-through Hardox then you can bugger off =P) on the front.
Colour - Spacey
Summary - Well flip you then some?
Strengths - Its extremely low to the ground coupled with a flipper. Also can run upside down if the flipper cops out.
Weaknesses - Its armor isnt all that good.

I wouldnt just revise the pneumatics Alex...
Ground clearance - 0 at the front, 0.5 mm at the sides, 0 at the back
You wont move around much then. :proud:
Motors - Two magmotors geared for torque
Which Mags? S28-400s or what? What batteries power them?
Weapons - A really nice flipper.
LMAO :proud: Id go with a full-pressure flipper, with 2 2kg CO2 tanks, depending on dimensions. What dimensions (length x width x height, in cm) do you have?
Nice mag suggestion, I was just looking at those and I liked the size and weight to power ratio :)
Hey, Kody, Martin, could either of you do some renders of Robo-Platypus, Robo-Aardvark and Robo-Crab

Srimech: Axe, can run inverted if axe is taken off
Strengths: powerful weapons, weapons synergy and is capable of 1 or 2 hit KOs
Weaknesses: Thin armour, easily flipped and sides and rear are vunerable
Thats actually a really good attempt, Ben. Few things, though...how thick are the interchangeable Hardox weapons, each of them? And could you explain a bit more about the teeth, please? I dont understand how they would become rigid. :)
the teeth lock in place, the hardox weapons are 7MM thick apart from the forklifts which are 5MM
And where are the rows of teeth placed? On the front? Sides? Rear?
I dont see the sense of putting them on the front when youve got weaponry there already...
On the top Kody, and they are only put on when i am using the wedge

I think, Ben, youve got confused between LEM130s and LEM200s.
The former (LEM130, commonly used at 36V and 48V) is only 3kg in weight, and produces 9hp at 36V and 12hp at 48V, and are the most commonly used motor in a vapourbot, due to their weight to power ratio - they weigh 1kg more than a Bosch 750w, but produce 8hp more.
The latter (LEM200, commonly ran at 48V and 60V) weigh 4 times more than the 130, at 12kg each, but produce more hp each, as its 25hp for the 48V model and 52hp each for the 60V. Do Or Die and my own Knyfe use them, but I use the 48V one as the 52hp combined means a minimum of 104hp, which is overdone, but Chez uses the 60V ones at his own risk :proud:
With Robo-Panda, sticking LEM200s or any LEM in is a waste, as axle-bots hardly do any pushing. Used the Bosch 750w at 36V, as it will allow to make the disc heavier and armour stronger, as you will have 10kg spare.

Armour: 4MM Titanium
Drive: 2 LEM170s @ 36V
Power: 6 NiCad Battlepacks @ 36V
Locomotion: 2 Vulkalon coated wheels with large spikes
Ground Clearance: 8MM
Turning Circle: 0
Dimensions: 55X55X70
Weaponry: 1) A torque hammer with a difference, it has a 10 KG vertical flywheel with 12 3CM teeth, it rests on casters, it is powered by a C40-300 Magmotors, it spins at 3000RPM
2) An optional scoop made of 6MM hardox
Srimech: Invertible
Strengths: Powerful weapons, Invertible, Fast
Weaknesses: If casters are destroyed the weapon is useless, Hard to control, Easy to flip
3) 2 15KG Dragonstrike style spinning disks
4) 2 15KG Kishar style spinning disks
Youre as well making that one combined setup on its own rather than two different ones, because Dragonstrike and Kishar both have the same type of discs; the only differences are one is painted grey and powered by an EV warrior and the other is natural hardox colour and powered by two HTI motors.
Other than that, Im sure Tony would like that his machines are serving as inspiration :)
No, they are different
Ben, just a bit of advice - dont argue with Jamie - hes a real roboteer, and we are not :proud:
Ben the discs that Tony uses are all watercut from the same plate of Hardox 650 as well as 20 more of exactly the same discs in use in robots all over Europe. We still have 3 of them lying around in our shed. Our axehead on Obsidian comes from the same plate.
THE LEM200 DOES NOT PRODUCE 25HP!!!!
its the same as an etek, 15hp
The Lem130 does not produce 9hp, it produces 3KW which is 4hp not 9, you even quote the page which tells you how much power they produce.
Can I ask - if the LEM130 provides 4hp, why does Storm 2 use LEM130s at 36V and get 18hp not 8hp? I think 24V LEM130s give 3hp, but we use the 36V ones for more power.
And maybe the LEM200 provides 15hp somewhere in the Voltage area. At what Voltage does a LEM200 give 15hp?
If I use the peak of my motors to calulate the power of my feaherweight then I run 1,5Kw of power as well (=2HP). In reality I usually run between 200W and 300W as a constant.
The thing is you never run at peak in real life and neither has storm II. There is just no way you get all that power to the floor. In any case, the peak performance of a lem 130 might well be 9 HP on 36V, there is no way you could do that as a constant but for a few seconds at best.
Thats why the dyno bench test from LEM themselves give much lower performance specs, even though they are still awesome for their power to weight ratio.
Great - that means that Knyfe is dekcuf (homage to Mr. Kunz) :proud:
Hopefully Knyfe wont be screwed by this turn-out, and I wont be banned for spelling ****** backwards
Can I also ask Leo about a substance called Weldox - what is it?
(Message edited by paulc on August 03, 2008)
SSAB, the company that makes steel for different applications. Their main line comprises of 4 types of steel:
Hardox - wearplate
Weldox - Structural Steel Plate
Toolox - Pre-hardened machine and tool steel
Armox - Armour plating steel
Hardox and Weldox you are still able to weld. Mighty Mouse uses Weldox, and Trevor prefers it over Hardox.
Toolox would be only usefull for spinner bars and such. It is much harder than Hardox and Weldox but because off it more brittle and easy to shatter.
Armox is unusable for us. You cant drill it, you cant weld it, the only thing you could do is clamp it in something, but that thing would probably get ripped off before the plate gets a scratch.
All these steel sorts are from one factory based in Oxelsund, Sweden.
Competitor names are Creusabro and Xar. Same type of steel sorts, just different names.
At what Voltage does a LEM200 give 15hp
Peak power and max constant power are totally different, Storm claim 18hp but will never achive it, same as Tanto potentially could hit 30HP but never would hit that. I put Tanto on a rolling road to see how powerfull it really was and was mildy disapointed, thats why i dont use Eteks anymore
The LEM200 would require 48v 200A to hit 15 HP.
