Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where round 2 of Heat B is about to get underway! If you missed part 1 of tonight€™s episode, Knyfe and Axe-o-Lotl overcame Chaos 2 and the number #3 seed Supreme Glory Omega destroyed Shrederator to go through with GBOD. Now let€™s take another look at the round 2 line-up:
Knyfe v GBOD
Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Axe-o-Lotl
Heat Semi-Final 1
Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome Knyfe and GBOD back to the coliseum!

SMASH!!
Both robots are off like bullets out of a gun, Knyfe using that 15mm hardox wedge to prevent GBOD doing any damage to the front, and Paul box-rushes Leo before the giant bell of death can get up to speed, and pushes him up against the arena wall! Knyfe holds GBOD there for a few seconds, then retreats and heads across the arena to press the pit release button, which it does, but this has given GBOD time to spin up, so when Knyfe comes back on the attack Leo goes roaring on to meet him!
CRASH!
GBOD€™s spinning shell throws Knyfe away, and although Leo is knocked back slightly GBOD seems to be fine, and spins up again before Knyfe can recover! Paul comes back on another slam, and this time connects with GBOD with the side of the scoop, meaning Knyfe is spun away rather than flung across the arena, but how will that help, as GBOD is spinning again, albeit not at full speed when Knyfe comes in on another onslaught and as a result GBOD rides up the wedge and is rammed across the arena and into the pit release button corner, where Knyfe€™s high speeds throw it right up and over! Leo is slightly worried, and tries to self-right, but Knyfe pushes in again and feeds GBOD to the Killsaws! BZZT! Leo is bounced around by the saws, but it hasn€™t helped him self-right and Knyfe continues to harass GBOD, keeping the scoop underneath and ramming Leo into the wall, trying to knock him out of the arena, but not quite getting there. Eventually Paul gives up that idea and drives in underneath GBOD again, now pushing it around the coliseum and towards the pit! GBOD struggles to get that srimech working and finally does so, but it lands on Knyfe€™s wedge and now Paul is laughing as he manoeuvres Leo towards the pit and his second loss of the tournament! GBOD tries to get off the wedge, but Knyfe puts the speed on and dumps GBOD into the chasm with a puff of smoke!
CEASE!
Don€™t know if anyone was expecting that, but Knyfe goes through to the heat B final while GBOD is pitted and eliminated!
We now go the pits, where Leo is sending his first vapour packing.
Me: Are you disappointed with that loss Leo?
Leo: Yes, I thought I could just keep knocking Knyfe away like I did at the start, but the high speeds made it too difficult.
Me: Still, 3 vapours and 3 realies left, eh?
Leo: I feel more optimistic about my chances in some of the other heats.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now back to the coliseum for the second Heat B semi-final!
Heat Semi-Final 2

SMASH!!
The battle of the axes begins, with the seed having the more powerful axe and Axe-o-Lotl having more horsepower, but maybe not a more adequate shape for pushing with clearance at the front, whereas SGO has skirts. And it€™s SGO that comes straight on the attack, and both robots€™ axes come down and hit the other€™s bodywork, but no real damage done and Axe-o-Lotl drives on to try and push SGO across the arena, but Christopher drives up the skirt and SGO rams Axe-o-Lotl onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Axe-o-Lotl is turned over by the saws, but quickly self-rights, only to land sideways on to SGO, who clamps it with the axe! But SGO hasn€™t gotten underneath, and Axe-o-Lotl with the more power is able to swing the seed around and back onto the saws! BZZT! SGO is flipped up a bit, but holds onto Axe-o-Lotl and gets off the saws, but is forced to let Axe-o-Lotl go before it is thrust onto the saws again! Chris drives a short way off before turning to meet the approaching SGO again, and the two lock horns once more, both swinging their axes down, and as Axe-o-Lotl clamps SGO Chris pushes Daniel back onto the saws again! BZZT! Both release their axes, and now Axe-o-Lotl backs away, but SGO gets underneath the front and though Axe-o-Lotl brings its axe down so does SGO, clamping Chris so that Daniel can get a proper ram into the pit release button! The siren wails and the chasm lowers, but now SGO is on top and turns to start the drive towards the pit to dump Axe-o-Lotl put of the competition! But Chris isn€™t going down without a fight and repeatedly slams SGO with his axe, denting the top armour and finally making a small hole in the top! Daniel drives over to the pit, but can€™t dump Axe-o-Lotl in as Chris is still holding onto SGO through that hole in the top armour! And if SGO were to dive in there€™s a big risk Axe-o-Lotl will land on the other side, leaving SGO to rest in a puff of smoke, so Daniel can€™t end the match this way- or at least, not yet! SGO pulls Axe-o-Lotl away and puts Chris on the saws, (BZZT!) so the axe head is jerked out of SGO, although Daniel loses his grip on Axe-o-Lotl also. And now Chris turns and hits SGO with his axe again, from the side and making another hole in the top armour, but SGO uses its vacuum and pulls Chris back onto the saws! BZZT! And another attack is proved futile, as Axe-o-Lotl loses its hold again, and can€™t strike as SGO is at the side of it, whacking it with its axe! Axe-o-Lotl drives away, but SGO rams in from the front, getting underneath and pushing Chris down to the other end of the arena and onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Axe-o-Lotl is flipped over, but once again self-rights very swiftly and lands on top of SGO, who uses its axe as a front hinged flipper and throws Axe-o-Lotl onto the saws again, this time upside down! They bounce Chris away, and he fires the axe in mid air, only to fall down upside down with the axe open! He drags the axe in and self-rights, but SGO was ready again and pushes it across the arena and into the opposite wall, both robots striking another blow with their axes!
CEASE!
With both robots still mobile the match goes to a judges€™ decision!
Damage:
SGO- 7 x 4=28
Axe-o-Lotl- 8 x 4= 32
Aggression:
SGO- 9 x 3= 27
Axe-o-Lotl- 8 x 3= 24
Control:
SGO- 9 x 2= 18
Axe-o-Lotl- 7 x 2= 14
Dominance:
SGO- 8 x 1= 8
Axe-o-Lotl- 7 x 1= 7
Overall:
SGO- 81pts
Axe-o-Lotl- 77pts
And with a margin of just 4pts, the second judges€™ decision for Axe-o-Lotl doesn€™t go in his favour like the first one did; Supreme Glory Omega goes through to the Heat B final!
Heat B Final:
Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Knyfe
We€™ll be back after the commercials with the heat final, in the mean time; tactics, predictions and a w00t for the end of male kram!

Ill have to go for Supreme Glory here, probably to win on a judges unless it can knock out something on Knyfe.

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
WOOOOOOOOOOOT! A Heat Final, and a match in which I plan to get some vengence for WORCK, MeCannibal 2.0 and D.V.D, and finally bring the Stickler down
Supreme Glory Omega (3) v Knyfe: I think that Im fine in this match-up as the 4cm of Vulcanised Rubber is perfect for preventing that axe doing much damage, and the 6mm Hardox body-armour is going to mean that he wont do much more than a couple of dints. Also, 8mph is very slow, and I dont think hes as controllable as me - Ive got 20mph, but I can get away from him very easily. My weapon choice is...
6: A 5mm Hardox front plate with 8 rows of 6 spikes on them, making Knyfe into a useful and dangerous rammer, as the spikes are each 8.4cm long, 2.2cm in diameter, and diamond tipped. And a 100kg robot hitting you at 20mph with diamond-tipped spikes is going to hurt thin-ish and thick-ish armours.
Yes - Im putting the spiked plate back on, as I plan to ram the sides of SGO and impale him on the spikes to prevent him from getting away. I should pierce it fine, but Ill also try slamming him into the Buzz-Saws to try and cut through and damage something like the gas bottle to the axe.
If that plan fails, open the pit, get him on the spikes and put in the pit as quickly as possible.
Good luck Daniel
Awesome fights Liam, MUCH better than mine :proud:
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
MUCH better than mine
Paul, what low self-esteem you have!:proud:
My fights are nowhere near yours:)
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Tactics: IIRC, SGO has a top speed of 18mph, not 8mph. Therefore the 2mph difference in speed shouldnt play too much in the arena. I am glad Paul chose the spiked plate option for Knyfe in this round - as it will be completely useless against the 0mm ground clearance of SGO (remember, I have Ti skirting all around the robot to help it fight against rammers). The skirts, coupled with the vacuum system, means that SGO will pretty much be unmoveable in this fight.
In terms of my weaponry, I will not be aiming for the bodywork of Knyfe, but for the wheels. Hopefully I can pierce the wheels, hindering Knyfes movement or even better lodge the axe into the gap between the wheels and the bodywork and drag Knyfe around the arena. Failing this, try the old clamp/dump tactic! :proud:
Best of luck, Paul. :)

Gah! I didnt think anyone notice that typo- its meant to be may, but you may as well change it to have done now.
Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where the Heat B final is about to commence!
Let€™s take a look back at this Heat and see how the number#3 seed Supreme Glory Omega and Knyfe got here:
In the first eliminator Knyfe caused massive damage to Chaos 2 to thrash it on a judges€™ decision and head through with Axe-o-Lotl.
In the second SGO was teamed up upon by Shrederator and GBOD, but SGO overpowered GBOD to sneak through with GBOD.
In the first heat semi-final Knyfe took some hits from GBOD, but fought back strongly to defeat the giant bell of death.
In the second heat semi-final the number #3 seed reigned heavy blows on Axe-o-Lotl and received some in turn, but eventually triumphed on a JD.
We now go to the pit area where Paul and Daniel are preparing to enter the coliseum.
Me: What setup is Knyfe using here Paul?
Paul: its back to the spikes, as I think with a ram I can pierce the armour, it€™s only lexan after all.
Me: Don€™t forget the Lexiguard compound!
Paul: It won€™t matter- I hope!
Me: How€™s the seed looking?
Daniel: Mechanics wise fine, but I am a little worried about Knyfe, since SGO hasn€™t had that great a heat so far, taking a lot of damage in round one and only just taking the JD in the heat semi-final.
Me: I wish you the best of luck anyway, let€™s go to the coliseum!
Heat Final

SMASH!!
Knyfe is using the spikes again for this bout, and now a very big question is asked- will a seed go through again, like in Heat A when Wedge Devolution (1) prevailed over Sheer Heart Attack 2? We€™re about to find out, as Knyfe goes on the attack and slams into SGO, pushing Daniel backwards a few centimetres before the vacuum kicks in and SGO brings the axe slamming down onto the bodywork on Knyfe! Daniel was aiming for the wheels though, and gets his axe ready for another hit, but Knyfe has retreated, readying itself for another slam! And that Paul does, crashing into SGO and piercing the front armour with the spikes just a very little bit, but that may not be a good thing for Knyfe because now SGO is in control and axes Knyfe again, this time hitting the target and jamming the axe head in between the tyre and the body! Knyfe struggles, but the vacuum is too strong and with one wheel impaired for the time being SGO easily pushes Knyfe across the arena and into the pit release button! The siren wails and the chasm is lowered, and now Daniel makes for the pit, but Knyfe€™s struggling wheel manages to churn the axe out and Knyfe pulls its spikes out of SGO€™s bodywork! Paul is gone in a flash, but Daniel pursues and although SGO is slightly slower there€™s nowhere for Knyfe to go and Paul finds himself cornered! Daniel advances menacingly, and Paul nervously backs towards the Killsaws, then races out at full speed and crashes into SGO, but the vacuum holds for now and SGO hits its target once again with that deadly axe, and this time it€™s gone right through the tyre! Knyfe struggles against SGO, but Daniel holds on tight and manoeuvres Knyfe back around and heads for the pit again! And this time Knyfe can€™t seem to get free, as SGO ploughs determinedly on towards the chasm! That vacuum has really paid off in helping to stop Knyfe giving SGO a good shoving, and now Daniel wants to get the fruits of his labour- the satisfaction of putting Knyfe down the pit and that elusive place in the semi-finals, wanted by so many other robots, owned by only one so far, but there€™s only 15 places left and there€™s about to be 14 left when Supreme Glory Omega, the number#3 seed buries Knyfe in that grave and wins!
CEASE!
It€™s a sad day for Paul; Knyfe bites the dust as SGO goes marching on to the glory of the series semi-finals!
We€™ll be back next time with Heat C:
Storm II (5) v Obsidian v Cyclone Force 3
Scaramanga v Turbo Shredder v Monolith

HEAT C
TACTI-oh, wait, Im not properly fighting until heat E (for the record, my tactics for Stealth have changed and are along the lines of sit there and wait to be killed :P)
PREDICTIONS:

Scaramanga to suffer from a lack of tactical driving and be KOed

But on the bright side, Ive got another heat coming up!
Heat C:
Storm II (5) v Obsidian v Cyclone Force 3: I know that Obsidian seems to be the weak link here, as if flipped, it cant get back, as it has NO SELF-RIGHTER! My plan is just to lift it over and leave it.
Good luck Leo and Chris
Scaramanga v Turbo Shredder v Monolith: Turbo Shredder will go, unless Alex does something wrong.

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Wow, none of my Heat Winner predictions have been right yet, not that I am complaining! :proud:
Predictions - I will stick with my original prediction of Storm II breezing past the opposition.
Obsidian and Turbo Shredder out in round 1.
Scaramanga and Monolith out in round 2.
Cyclone Force beaten on a very narrow JD in final.

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Welcome to yet another heat of Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged, where 6 new robots are revving up and ready to cause some serious ass-kicking damage! Tonight we€™ll see the return of the number #5 seed Storm II, who was stopped by Supreme Glory Omega (winner of the last heat) in the quarters last time around. Let€™s take a look at the draw!
Storm II (5) v Obsidian v Cyclone Force 3
Scaramanga II v Monolith v Turbo Shredder
Eliminator 1
Built by Team Storm, entered by Paul Cuomo, the number #5 seed, Storm II!
This box wedge with an electric lifter is powered by 2 LEM-130s at 36v, giving it a top 18HP in the drive! Impressive in the world of realies, but fairly average when compared to some of today€™s vapours, though it€™s enough to rival the best in this heat.
In RS!!1: Flipped and pitted Haardvark in the eliminator then came up against Tempest Evil-est-oution in the heat semi-final. Everybody expected a loss, but excellent tactics from the Cuomo camp meant Tempest was defeated and Storm II then reigned supreme in the heat final against Super Gore Evo. In the quarters things looked promising, but Storm II got hammered by Supreme Glory Omega, and went into the play-off. Paul took out Liar 2 by ramming it into Whirligig 4.5, who was flipped out of the round by Seung Mina IV, but in the last minute of the fight Seung Mina€™s 0 front clearance proved too strong and Storm II had to settle for 6th overall, but like every other seed it has been promoted up one by Frank€™s not entering.
Owned and modified by Leo Van Miert, Obsidian!
This strangely shaped robot has a powerful axe, though not up to the standard of Terrorhurtz. It€™s powerful for a realie, but its lack of a srimech could see it bite the dust, especially in an opening melee of two lifters!
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Created and entered by Christopher Mason, Cyclone Force 3!
Like Knyfe from the previous heat, this robot has interchangeable weaponry, albeit less setups. For this match Chris is using the lifter, and as it has the same drive motors and similar power to Storm II this makes the fight Storm II (x2) v Obsidian!
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Roboteers, standby!
Booth 1: Paul Cuomo
Booth 2: Leo Van Miert, Christopher Mason
5...

SMASH!!
The two rammers get off to a quick start, while Leo cautiously edges Obsidian out of the start, desperate to avoid those lifters on the other two robots that could so easily knock Obsidian out of this contest! And it€™s Storm II who makes the first charge, slamming at the side of Obsidian, but Leo turns to meet Storm II face on and brings the axe down on top of Paul, getting the axe down into one of the wheel housings! That€™s the danger of being invertible, and now Leo drags Storm II back a bit before Paul slams him into the arena wall and breaks the hold, getting in underneath Obsidian and lifting it up, but the wall is in the way and Obsidian is just stuck on the lifter, not even stacked! That is until Cyclone Force 3 finally draws blood and attacks Storm II from behind, not aggressively, but to help Paul stack Obsidian, which using its own lifter it does! But as Paul and Chris reverse away triumphantly Leo fires his axe and falls back to earth, only to get rammed from the side by Cyclone Force and tipped over onto his side by the lifter! Leo fires the axe, but nothing doing and Obsidian is on its back! The audience count Leo out and Paul presses the pit release button, then Chris does the honours and pushes the flipped Obsidian across the arena and into the pit!
CEASE!
Yet again Leo€™s lack of a proper srimech eliminates him, and since this is the third heat in a row that this has impacted upon his losses for the worse he must be getting pretty annoyed right now. Let€™s go to the pits!
Me: Yet again, the srimech curse!
Leo: Yes, but still plenty of robots left!
Me: Do they have reliable srimechs?
Leo: Err... Some of them.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now it€™s back to the coliseum for the second Heat C eliminator!
Eliminator 2
Created and entered by Alex Holt, Scaramanga II!
On the surface this looks like an average wedge flipper, but it packs a smokescreen that hides the robot from enemies! This would also mean Alex couldn€™t drive it, so Scaramanga II is Robot SMASH!!€™s only autonomous competitor!
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Created and entered by Andrew Jackson, Monolith!
This robot has no active weapons, and doesn€™t have fantastic HP by vapour standards. But how can you damage it? The armour is angled 10mm hardox and with skirts as well as being invertible flippers will be worried!
In RS!!1: Didn€™t enter
Created and entered by Samuel Park, Turbo Shredder!
Packing a similar drive to Cyclone Force 3 and Storm II with a powerful spinning disc to boot this could be a dark horse. Most of the bookies have put it down for a loss here, but perhaps they€™re in for a surprise.

SMASH!!
Turbo Shredder starts spinning up while Scaramanga disappears into the smoke, and Monolith gets off the mark and begins prowling around the coliseum, heading straight for Turbo Shredder! They meet head on, but Turbo Shredder€™s disc merely glances off Monolith€™s wedge and AJ pushes Samuel onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Turbo Shredder is flipped, but it is invertible and drives off, turning to meet the cloud that is Scaramanga! Turbo Shredder becomes enveloped in the smoke, and wee nothing for a few moments before Turbo Shredder flies upwards through the smoke and comes crashing down next to the arena wall, almost right out! And Samuel drives away quickly, and then drives straight into the back of Monolith, causing sparks to fly, but also pushing Monolith into the cloud! We see nothing, but hear the sound of Scaramanga€™s flipper activating! Yet Monolith doesn€™t reappear- it seems that Monolith reversed a little just at the right time and realising his chance AJ ploughs in and slams Alex into the pit release button! This is what we assume, as we cannot see it, but now in comes Turbo Shredder from the side, slamming into what could be Scaramanga or Monolith! The cloud hides all three robots now, but which will be the first to emerge? We wait, but then AJ reverses away, followed by Turbo Shredder! The coliseum is very smoky now, but as Alex drives away we see Scaramanga clearly- the robot is now black, and we are seeing it because it seems either Turbo Shredder or Monolith damaged it while inside the smoke and now there is no more smoke to come! But AJ still wants Turbo Shredder to die, and attacks Samuel again, getting underneath and pushing him up against the arena wall! And now Scaramanga comes in from behind, ready to send both opponents over the edge, but AJ reverses, freeing Turbo Shredder who also flees. Scaramanga just goes for the nearest opponent, which is Monolith, and the automatic drive gets underneath the side skirt of Monolith and throws AJ up into the air, before he comes crashing down and bounces across the arena floor, finally landing upside down, meaning the wedge is useless! And now Turbo Shredder takes its chance on Scaramanga, ramming in with the disc and smashing into the internal workings, exposed by the gaping mouth of the flipper! The machine vents gas and that weapon is useless now, as it seems Turbo Shredder ripped out the rams! And still Samuel isn€™t finished, as the disc spun Scaramanga away and now Turbo Shredder pushes Scaramanga from behind, right across the arena and onto the edge of the pit! Surely Alex doesn€™t want to take this dance of death? But he€™s not at the controls so there€™s nothing he can do and Scaramanga simply plops into the pit and out of the round!
CEASE!
Another shock as Turbo Shredder disposes of the promising Scaramanga to go through with Monolith!
We go now to the pits to speak to Alex Holt for the second time this series.
Me: That was a real blow, we expected Scaramanga to do well.
Alex: It seems Turbo Shredder actually did most of the damage there at the end, I attacked Monolith and left myself open to attack.
Me: Who do you think will win the heat now?
Alex: If Monolith and Turbo Shredder meet in the heat final it€™ll most likely be Monolith, as there€™s nothing a spinner like that can do to Monolith.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now let€™s take a look at the round 2 line-up!
Storm II (5) v Turbo Shredder
Monolith v Cyclone Force 3
We€™ll be back after the break with even hotter robot-on-robot action!
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
PREDICTIONS IN THE STYLE OF TIMOTHY JAMES SILLERY:

monolith will whip up a storm and blow out cylcone force 3s thunder

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Great fights, I got 2 results predicted correctly, and I also got into Round 2 - AWESOME!
Storm II (5) v Turbo Shredder: A 30kj spinning disc isnt too scary in my eyes. True it may flip Storm over if I rush head-on into it, but not cut the armour too badly. Ill get around the sides, and use the lifting arm to turn it over, as the disc, when the robot is flipped, the disc shall spin downwards and not do too much. Thats to make it loose effectiveness. My main plan is to get it near the edge of the arena and lift Turbo Shredder onto its side, as itll become beached and immobile.
Good luck Samuel
Monolith v Cyclone Force 3: Depends on the set-up Chris chooses. If he chooses the disc or spikes, hes doomed. If he chooses the claws or lifter, Monolith is doomed. Ill go for Chris to win.
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Actually Paul Turbo Shredders disc is horizontal, and Cyclone Force doesnt have a disc or a claw
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Actually, Ill go with the scoop and ram it into submission.
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
If its disc is horizontal, Ill just attack the front. The disc will ride up the wedge, and then I can power it down the arena and stack it against the wall like that. I know the sides of Storm can take 50kj of energy and the front 100kj, so I should be OK with 30kj. I may be OK for this battle, but seeing as Turbo Shredder has suddenly become a favorite, I may not be safe from Liams pen.
And these fights are brilliant Liam - I said it before - MUCH better than my fights.
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
...this may have been asked before, but how do you get the Storm IIs sides can survive 50kj sort of figures?
-
Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
lol, I dont think Typhoon 2 generated 50kJ of energy per hit. :proud:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------
It did :proud: But the front panel of Storm was NEVER knocked off by Typhoon - it was knocked off by Matilda, who instead of attacking Typhoon was was IN the CPZ, attacked Storm was was LEAVING the CPZ, as Mentorn possibly didnt want a rammer to beat a super damaging spinner. You dont really notice it unless you look very carefully, as you see it as Typhoon is leaving the CPZ.
And I get Storm IIs sides can survive 50kj through calculating that 1cm of Titanium can resist 80kj, but 1.2cm can resist 100kj, as you divide 100 by 2, (The armour on the sides is half of the thickness on the front) and I get 50kj.

Welcome back to Robot SMASH!! , where round 2 of Heat C is about to get underway. If you missed the first part of tonight€™s episode, then you should know that the number #5 seed Storm II worked with Cyclone Force 3 to dispatch Obsidian, and Scaramanga€™s flipper was destroyed by Turbo Shredder for Samuel to progress along with Monolith. Let€™s take another look at the draw:
Storm II (5) v Turbo Shredder

SMASH!!
And we€™re off! So far this series the seeds have prevailed, with the reigning champion Wedge Devolution defending the title well in Heat A and Supreme Glory Omega proving it deserved that bronze medal last year in Heat B, but the question now is whether or not Storm II can keep the seeds going and defeat Turbo Shredder to at least reach the heat final. Even if Paul does come away with a win here, he€™ll have to face either Monolith or Cyclone Force in the heat final before he goes on to the semis anyway. And it€™s Paul on top as this fight gets going, getting the wedge underneath Samuel€™s disc and lifting Turbo Shredder up into the air before he pushes the spinner across the arena and into the pit release button! The siren wails and the pit descends, and now Storm II tries to get Turbo Shredder down the pit, but drops Samuel off the lifter and he strikes with the disc before the arm retracts, hitting the workings and tearing it clean off! The crowd gasp and Paul reverses away in shock, no one was expecting that! But Storm II is one of the robots that really doesn€™t need a weapon and pushes on, getting underneath Turbo Shredder again and pushing Samuel onto the Killsaws, where Turbo Shredder is flipped onto its back! Turbo Shredder actually has power equal to that of Storm II, but the shape of Paul€™s selected realie is helping it a lot here, and it does again as he once more gets underneath and slams Turbo Shredder into the corner, flipping it over! But Turbo Shredder is far from beaten and turns the disc onto Storm€™s rear panel, tearing it half off! The panel hangs loose now, one side clinging on and one just asking to be torn off, but Storm II turns and gets that wedge underneath Turbo Shredder again and Paul really turns on the turbo as he zooms across the arena to smash Turbo Shredder into the arena wall at the opposite end of the arena! And once more Samuel is flipped over, but Turbo Shredder now comes back around and tears that rear panel clean off the back of Storm II! Paul looks worried, but yet again gets that wedge underneath Turbo Shredder and charges across the arena, slamming it into the opposite wall and watching as Turbo Shredder actually leaves the ground as a result of the slam and teeters on the barrier for a moment before crashing back down into the coliseum, landing on top of Storm II disc down and letting the sparks fly for a moment before the blades really hit hard and Turbo Shredder is thrown off the top of Storm II, landing near the pit, but reversing away quickly before Storm II can attack again, which Paul does, but not soon enough to get Turbo Shredder into the pit like he may have hoped. Instead he has to settle for another slam, ramming Turbo Shredder across the arena and onto the Killsaws again!
CEASE!
Both robots are still mobile, so we€™ll have to go to the judges to decide who goes through to the heat final!
Damage:
Storm II- 5 x 4=20
Turbo Shredder- 9 x 4= 36
Aggression:
Storm II- 9 x 3= 27
Turbo Shredder- 7 x 3= 21
Control:
Storm II- 9 x 2= 18
Turbo Shredder- 6 x 2= 12
Dominance:
Storm II- 8 x 1= 8
Turbo Shredder- 7 x 1=7
Overall:
Storm II- 73pts
Turbo Shredder- 76pts
It€™s a major upset, but the number #5 seed bites the dust and Turbo Shredder goes through to the Heat C final!
Now we go to the pits to speak to a very downcast Paul, who is surprised at losing the number #5 seed this early on.
Me: This is a shock for all of us; Storm II is the first seed to go out.
Paul: Yes, me too, I did think that I could beat Turbo Shredder, but I guess it was the damage done to the lifter and the armour at the end of the day.
Me: It may have ripped the panels off, but the armour itself stood up well to Turbo Shredder€™s disc.
Paul: Yes, it wasn€™t powerful enough to cut through the armour.
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, now it€™s back to the coliseum for the next heat semi-final!

SMASH!!
Cyclone Force 3 is using the pushing scoop for this match, will that help Christopher onto the heat final to meet Turbo Shredder, or will Monolith annihilate Cyclone Force and then shred the turbo shredder? Anyhow, it€™s Monolith on the immediate attack, hitting the front of Cyclone Force, but not getting underneath to push Chris around. But neither is Chris getting under AJ, as both robots have 0 ground clearances at the front, and with more HP Chris pushes Monolith back across the arena and onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Just for a moment Monolith is bumped off the ground, but it€™s enough and Cyclone Force zooms in underneath, getting directly under and pushing AJ up against the arena wall! Monolith, however, finds its wheel on top of Cyclone Force and drives off, then turns around to meet the oncoming Chris, who smashes into Monolith and pushes it across the arena and into the pit release button! With that added worry both robots scarper, but Monolith turns around with a last minute change of plan and gets underneath Cyclone Force 3 from behind and pushes Chris onto the Killsaws! BZZT! Cyclone Force is bounced up into the air and is rammed by Monolith again, this time into the arena wall! Cyclone Force struggles and escapes, then both robots meet head on again and Cyclone Force pushes AJ across the arena floor and towards the pit! This could be an untimely and early end for Monolith, and AJ struggles to push Cyclone Force backwards, as Chris is just too strong and pushes Monolith right up to the pit- but the angle is wrong and only one side of Monolith is over the pit! But this is enough to stop it getting away for now and Cyclone Force drives away and lines up for the final nudge, which Chris delivers smoothly and easily, just the slightest prod is done and Monolith disappears in a puff of smoke!
CEASE!
Monolith is pitted, Cyclone Force 3 forces its way into the heat final!
We now go to the pits to discuss that last match with AJ.
Me: Disappointed?
AJ: Not extremely, as Cyclone Force is an excellent machine and just out pushed me in the end.
Me: We look forward to seeing your other competitors later in the series.
AJ: I look forward to it more than you do!
Me: Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, we€™ll be back right after the break with the heat C final!

Turbo Shredder v Cyclone Force 3

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Both my predictions were wrong - oh joy :P
Ill go for Cyclone Force to keep on top of Turbo Shredder, not allowing it to spin up, and pit it to win through.

Robot SMASH!! Series 2: Recharged!
Im sure I asked you this before Paul, but I dont recall getting an answer. How exactly have you worked out that 12mm of Titanium can withstand 100kJ of energy? As Shane quite rightly says, if that 12mm Ti is held on with Pritt Stick, it isnt going to withstand that much energy. How has a specific value of resistance been calculated? As for the fights, well done to Liam. Youre becoming a pretty good writer. Cyclone Force 3 is a good design, and I expect to see it head through to the semis.
