AKA the robot with a fast and powerful spinning blade.
Welcome to the grand opening of the first ever Robot SMASH!!
Tonights episode sees 8 infernal machines go up against each other in a brutal knockout contest!
The winner gets a place in the series quarter-finals, where theyll meet one of the other 7 heat winners!Lets see our first line-up...
Eliminator 1/32:
Gabriel II v Acronyms FTW
Gabriel II is from the mind of Joey McConnell, a veteran of the Challenge Belt and a hot favourite to win this heat and possibly the competition! Its an elongated pyramid with a powerful lifting arm- watchout!
Acronyms FTW is short for something, but sorry Frank Goacher I cant for the life of me remember that! Its got just one abatory for the winner of pointlessly long name, that being All scoop and no stab make Steve a dull boy, but well see that one later in the series!
Booth 1: Joey McConnell
Booth 2: Frank Goacher
5,4,3,2,1,ANNIALATE!
The crowd scream as this championship gets underway!Gabriel is first off the mark, darting across the arena and pushing Acronyms into the side wall!Frank pushes back and the two bots are locked in an intense struggle!
Due to Gabriels strange shape Frank just cant get a hold with his crusher, and Joey is laughing just so long as he can get a proper attack in on Frank!
The flame pit is the venue for this deadly dance of death, so Gabriel is feeling the heat as Joey struggles to get that arm underneath Frank, whos beginning to get his front claw stuck in!
CRASH!
Acronyms gets that all-important grip on the floor and rushes Joey into the opposite wall!
Gabriel is left reeling, but takes Franks momentary celebration to attack!
Gabriel gets that arm under Franks claw from the side and hoists Acronyms FTW into the air!
Easy does it, and Gabriel drags Acronyms over to the flame pit to roast the hexagon!
The crowd yells
PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT
Joey, still holding Acronyms aloft reverses into the pit release tyre!
The siren wails and the pit opens!
But Acronyms falls off Joeys lifting arm and digs into the side of Gabriel II, ramming it again!
CRASH!
Joey bounces off the arena side wall and lands in the corner, right on the spike!
FLIP!
Gabriel bounces onto its back, but self-rights just as Frank rushes it once more!
This time however Joey is ready and turns to get under Franks claw with his lifter once again!
Joey hoists Frank into the air and drags him along again, right over to the pit!
ITS ALL OVER!
In a puff of smoke Acronyms bites the dust as Gabriel II progresses to the heat semi-final!
Coming after this short ad break,
Cyrilium 2 v Liar 2!
(Message edited by Robot_Warrior on April 05, 2008)
...I do actually have a slight complaint about this, sorry...Gabriels weapon is a forward hinged pneumatic flipper, not a rear hinged lifter as everyone seems to think, and thus probably couldnt hoist Acronyms in the air unless it got right underneath it...
It did get right underneath.I just called it a lifter by accident, sorry!
Martijn, I dont have any stats for you at all. Please post a link to them or post them here.
No problem, its just I suck at drawing pictures and I probably should get some done to convey across what my bots are better :P
http://strickenone.proboards99.com/index.cgihttp://strickenone.proboards99.com/index.cgi is where Martijns stats are, and Kodys and mine.
If I do beat Liar 2, which I will, probably, I am honestly SCARED to fight Gabriel 2.
Do you hate your yellowish teeth?
Yes?
Then you need Nanopaste!
Nanopaste has tiny nanoparticles that have been proven to not only protect your teeth from bacteria, but also to remove yellowing instantly!
Nanopaste can be found in your local Grocery Store in the hygiene section.
That is our commercial break.
Just remember, Liam, I have better ground clearance, and a powerful flipper that can flip Liar 2 5 feet into the air.
MARK!!
This is my tournament!Do another commercial break and I will kick you out!
And stop posting reminders!
I HAVE A MEMORY OF MY OWN!
And that post about being afraid of Gabriel-ITS POINTLESS.REMEBER WHAT I SAID ABOUT POINTLESS POSTS, MARK?
Start Listening, Im getting REALLY peed off with you.
(Message edited by Robot_Warrior on April 05, 2008)
(says very calmly) Please do the fight.
Mark, please try and cooperate with people...please...
Can I point out Mark, we ALL know what were doing, even Liam, who hasnt been around as long as me or others knows what he is doing.
But lets make an inqusition into the pair of you, as you both joined at around the same point:
Liam: Started off bad with his annoying internet slang, but got around that to make 2 very good tornuments and is now a fine addition.
Mark: Started off reminding fiarly experienced people what to do, opened a tornument of his own and then entered other peoples designs without permission and was annoying - now...hes still annoying. Please Mark, just calm down.
Were back!
The next draw is something of a very interesting curio...
Mark, the increasingly annoying person takes on Martijn, creator of Flick of the Wrist, holder of not one, but TWO challenge belts in...
Cyrilium 2 v Liar 2!
Eliminator 2/32:
Cyrilium 2 v Liar 2
Cyrilium 2 has gone through lots of changes in the How Can I Improve thread. It once had a spinning disc accompanying its flipper, but Mark ditched it and now Cyrilium 2 steps up to the arena for its place in Robot SMASH!!
Liar 2 is another powerful flipper.Mark is confident, but Martijn is far more experienced and his vapourbots (including Liar 2) have proved themselves worthy.Cyrilium, on the other hand is a brand new robot, so this will be interesting...
Booth 1: Mark Elam
Booth 2: Martijn M Benschop
5,4,3,2,1,EXTERMINATE!
Cyrilium heads in on the offensive, aiming to attack Liar 2 from the front! But Mark drives straight up onto Martijns wedge!
FLIP!
Cyrilium somersualts and lands on the side-wedge!
FLIP!
Over it goes, crashing down on its back!
Mark quickly fires the flipper to get Cyrilium back into the fight, but he lands on the flipper again!
FLIP!
1000psi is powerful, at least enough to kiss Cyrilium goodbye!
It sails OOTA, and this battle ends as quickly as it started!
THE END HAS ARRIVED!
Liar 2 progresses to the heat semi-final while Marks only vapour bites the... er...Camera tracks!
Major problem:
But Mark drives straight up onto Martijns wedge!
More like:
And Martijns mighty machine drives straight onto Marks Flipper!
There is no way I could loose by an OOTA. Liar 2 would get on top of me each time.
Mark, there is a difference between pointing out technicalities that would have changed the course of the fight, and being a bad loser.
That is a technicality.
Since the fight was either rigged because Martijn paid him to rig it, or Liam was angry at me, I demand the fight be redone, but with a different outcome.
(Message edited by corsair_lightning on April 05, 2008)
Mark, that is precisely what I mean by being a bad loser...
I dont have the energy to go into detail, Ill just say that if you act like an arse, dont get shocked when other people treat you like an arse.
All Im saying is this:
There is no way he could get me on his flipper if I am charging at him with my front pointed towards him.
His front area is smaller than yours, so if he was driving towards you at the same time, it is very possible.
Front wedges do penetrate the other from time to time, but what usually happens is that both ground clearances cancel out and they halt. This time, Liar 2 was able to get under Cyrilium 2. It could have been otherwise.
Fine, I accept my defeat calmly.
Thank you for pointing that out, Kody.
Im really sorry, I totally forgot I entered this:lame:
For my middleweight Ill just enter one of the Door Stops, and Pillow Torque for my featherweight
Mark, ur funny :proud:
be glad Cyrilium even moved, with not ONE but TWO wedges that low, its effectively a 0 GC robot that wont have any traction
thats not a question, thats a statement, youre REALLY, REALLY new here, so rather than go against us you better TAKE some advice to improve yourself, change one of the two wedges into a hined weddge and Cyrilium would be fine, mkay?
Thanks Frank, better late than never!
Mark, I knew you would object.Thankfully youve calmed down now but be grateful, as in real life I doubt Cyrilium would even MOVE, let alone defeat Liar 2.
Eliminator 3/32:
Nitro-Gene 4.0 v Intrigue
Nitro-Gene is a powerful flipper/rambot.It was once the holder of the challenge belt, but was taken out by Crimson Thunder. Paul is one of the only people (perhaps the only one) to have competed in all my successful tourneys. Nitro-Gene is his best bot, and he hopes it does well here against....
Intrigue, a fantastic axe robot with flipper capabilities! Its got 9mm thick titanium armour and its shock-proofed to protect it from powerful spinners, so this is one tough cookie!
Its from Kody Kunz, the winner of the Easter Bunny Tribute Championships 2008 with Seung Mina III, well see her successor later in the series...
Booth 1: Paul Cuomo
Booth 2: Kody Kunz
5,4,3,2,1, DECIMATE!
The arena hazards are in full working order, as are our robots in the arena now! Intrigue proves this by driving up to Nitro-Gene and drawing first blood!
CRASH!
Kody brings the axe down on Nitro-Gene, then withdraws it for another blow!
CRASH!
Intrigue strikes again, this time catching the side of Nitro-Genes flipper!Paul does the only thing he can-RAM!
CRASH!
Intrigue makes contact with the arena wall and wrenches its weapon out of Nitro-Gene, allowing Paul to push it up against the grinder!
Now Paul is under Intrigue and lets it fly!
FLIP!
Luckily for Kody it wasnt right underneath and Intrigue is just blown sideways, exposing the underneath to Paul, who sees his chance and rams in from below!
With Intrigue on top Paul carries Kody over to the corner!
FLIP!
Intrigue is now propped up on the wall, swinging the axe, beginning to wriggle down!
Paul goes in, but is flipped by the arena spike!
He self-rights, but now Kody is almost back on the ground!
This time Nitro-Gene dodges the spike and gets under Intrigue!
FLIP!
ITS OUTTA THERE!
Nitro-Gene sends Intrigue packing as it heads onto the heat semi-final!
WOOT! A sucessful first battle for me in this tornument, and unlucky to Kody for losing. This looks to be quite a promising first heat - whoever wins this heat is going to have a tough job winning it.
And great fight as well, but can I ask if the future battles could be just a little bit longer and have some more details? Thats not criticism, just a suggestion.
For any tactics/predictions...
The other weight draws have been done!
Middleweights:
Life v Hazard
T-Minus v Claw and Axe
Solstice 2.0 v Killoteeny
Steel Sandwich v Doorstop
Featherweights:
Cunning Plan v Skink
Arrghh v T.R.E.D.T.H.A.L
Pillow Torque v DTK
Micro-Gore v Katnip
Therell be a featherweight final between rounds one and two and a middleweight fight between rounds 2 and 3.There wont be any in the finals.
The next fight will be Doorstops v The Botles Reunited.
LIFE vs. Hazard
Get underneath the bar. Flip. Recieve acclaim from everybody in the universe. :proud:
CUNNING PLAN vs. Skink
Uh...ram around randomly into things.
Um, arent I fighting Weapons Synergy rather than Door Stops?
Regardless, I dont think its possible to plan for a match like this. Try to make the best of the Botles weight advantage and ride out the insanity. :proud:
Well I dont really know what to say...except nice job Paul. Beat me straight up. :)
Sorry guys, itll be The Botles Reunited v Weapon Synergy, I got mixed up with the clusterbots.
As Kody said a while ago, this is the clusterbot match to end all clusterbot matches!
Eliminator 4/32:
The Botles Reunited v Weapon Synergy
The Botles (John, Paul, George and Ringo) are back and more damaging than ever! Each part of the cluster weighs in at around 25kg, so despite being outnumbered the Botles have a slight weight advantage.
Weapon Synergy is a five-way clusterbot made up of rammer, flipper, axe, disc and claw. Its 5 v 4, but each cluster of Weapon Synergy weighs just 20kg, so it could be goodbye to Daniel Sticklers creation.
Booth 1: Steven McGregor
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, DECAPITATE!
Both clusters split up and circle each other, then Disc strikes first!
CRASH!
One of Pauls skirts is bent upwards, leavung a ground clearance for Flipper to come in!
FLIP!
Paul is up and over, but John attempts to come to his rescue, attacking Rammer from behind!
John has got him in a strong grip, but Rammer manages to drag John into the pit release tyre!
But disaster for Weapon Synergy, as George has come in to attack Rammer with that spinning blade!
CRASH!
John lets go just in time and Rammer spins away!
As it spins we see something fall to the floor- its the removable link! Rammer is out of the match and as the battle continues its now 4 v 4!
Paul has problems of his own!Flipper is now using that side of ground clearance to throw the poor bot sky-high!
Everytime it comes crashing down Steven winces up in the booth, but theres nothing he can do!
Finally Daniel gets revenge for Rammer and sends Paul spiralling OOTA!
Momentary celebration, but in comes John to attack Flipper!
It grabs it from behind and drags it over to the pit!
The crowd want it to go down!
PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT PIT
A puff of smoke rises into the air- but not one, but TWO robots are in the pit!It seems John pushed Flipper in, but was stealthily attacked by Claw who shoved him in after Flipper!
Only 2 Botles remain in the arena with 3 clusters of Weapon Synergy. The dead are no longer mourned, the clusters that are left are dreaming only of opposition destruction!
And Disc takes action, spinning up and crashing into Ringo!
Scarr bounces across the floor, reeling from the impact, and another link is on the floor!
Only one Botle remains in the living world, and that be George!
He spins up and collides with disc when both are at full speed!
Disc flies away, the lighter bot had a higher center of gravity in its vertical flywheel and that weight disadvantage didnt help!
It now lies crumpled on its side, right next to the pit!
SHOVE!
It now lies crumpled on its side, IN the pit!
But Weapon Synergy isnt finished yet!
Claw comes in and grabs George from behind, then pushes it into Axe, which obliges by hitting George repeatedly over the head!
WHACK!
George is really feeling the pain, but at last his torture is over!
THE MATCH HAS BEEN CALLED TO A STOP!
Both teams still had mobile clusters, so the match goes to the judges, who decide Weapon Synergy had more clusters left and will therefore progress to the heat semi-final!
Coming next, a featherweight clash!
Cunning Plan v Skink
(Message edited by Robot_Warrior on April 06, 2008)
Weapon Synergy belongs to Daniel Stickler, not Danny Bailey. :proud:
Dont feel bad, though. I mixed them up too once before. :proud:
Life vs HAZARD
He shouldnt get under me without taking severe damage from the blade, so Ill try and ram into him majorly and cause major damage.
Pillow Torque vs DTK
Get underneath and flip him into the pit, unless some house robot grabs him and throws him OOTA.
Special Event
Featherweight Heat 1/4
Cunning Plan v Skink
Cunning Plan was a grand finalist in RW1, but it was defeated mainly due to it being a featherweight in a battle with 5 other heavyweights! It never returned to the wars, and is entered into this competition by Joey McConnell.
Skink is a flipping-great feather from Team Wind-Power, owners of three heavyweights (Pressure, L-formerly Iron Awe 3 and Puck- a tyre!)
Its got powerful weaponry, but is constructed from plastic, so hope they dont meet a spinner!
Booth 1: Joey MConnell
Booth 2: Martijn M Benschop
5,4,3,2,1, ELIMINATE!
Cunning Plan gets off to a quick start, maneouvering smoothly around the arena to try and attack the..er...angle grinder?
Joey said he would randomly drive into things, but now the front of Cunning Plans wedge is stuck under the grinder!
Martijn comes in to lend a helping hand!
FLIP!
Cunning Plan goes head over heels and lands upside down, propped up on the grinder!
Joey isnt going anywhere soon, so Skink comes in for another onslaught!
FLIP!
ANOTHER BOT HITS THE CAMERA TRACKS!
Mutiny!Skinks plot to overthrow Cunning Plan goes into action and works!
It was a quick fight, but nevertheless Martijn has earned his place in the featherweight semi-finals!
SKINK GOES THROUGH!
The heat A semi-final draws:
Gabriel II v Nitro-Gene 4.0
Liar 2 v Weapon Synergy
Tactics/Predictions?
Gabriel II vs Nitro-Gene 4.0
Nitro-Gene to win this fight.
Liar 2 vs Weapon Synergy
Liar 2 to have a field day flipping Weapon Synergy out 1 part at a time.
Gabriel II v Nitro-Gene 4.0: OMG! Why do I keep on facing Joey in this competition? Ive seen the shape of Gabriel II, and it looks like it wont be self-righting all that quickly. And so I plan to use my superior traction and power and speed in order to get around his sides and push him against the sidewall - and toss him over the edge no sweat! Things going in my favour include a much more powerful flipper - 1600kg of lift at the tips, and I also have more lift than his front-hindged weapon. I also have the best speed for worrying an opponent with, as I can speed in, and keep him infront of me, give him no room to breath and just be a pest. My other advantage is skirts - I have the better skirts, and I have the good advantage of being able to spin off his flipper if he gets underneath me.
Good luck Joey
Liar 2 v Weapon Synergy: Ill go for Liar 2, as the weight disadvantage will send the clusters flying OOTA with little to no effort at all!
Good fights as well Liam. Well done.
PAUL! WHY MUST YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! :P
JOEYS COMPLETELY SHORT BACK AND SIDES WITH CHICKENS FOOLPROOF TACTICS:
Ill go for the thwackbot strategy for this, use the spikes to cause damage by spinning. If I end up on the flipper, get off it. If I end up on the flipper in the vicinity of the walls, GET OFF IT! If necessary, use the flipper to unbalance myself enough to get off it. If it drags on, Paul will use up his gas faster than me because Ill conserve mine for self righting and getting off the wedge.
If I do get the opportunity, though, go in on Nitro-Genes sides (I should be able to break the skirts considering all my ramming force is concentrated in a point at the front of the robot), get under, and flip, which should either put him OOTA or render his flipper useless. Finally, avoid the pit if it is open, lest I knock myself in.
Good luck, Paul :)
nice going Liam
Liar 2 v Weapon Synergy
drive in, get under one, flip it high, head for the other, rinse and repeat...
heck, them falling down on the ground might to major damage to them :proud:
Heat Semi-Final 1/16:
Gabriel II v Nitro-Gene 4.0
In round one Gabriel had a tough encounter with Acronyms FTW, but eventually won by dumping Frank into the pit.
Nitro-Gene had an even tougher fight against Intrigue, an awesome axe robot which eventually met the fury of Pauls 1000psi flipper capable of flipping 1600kg!
Booth 1: Joey McConnell
Booth 2: Paul Cuomo
5,4,3,2,1, INCAPACITATE!
Nitro-Gene is the quicker of these two machines, and Paul dispalys this advantage now as he speeds around to the side of Gabriel and ram it into the angle grinder!
FLIP!
Gabriel flies away from the wall, but lands upside down!
Joey self-rights and goes into a spin, waiting for Paul to hit those spikes!
CRASH!
Paul took a chance, and it paid off! Both robots spin away, but Nitro-Gene missed Gabriels spikes and can now ram Joey again!
CRASH!
This time its into the corner, but both bots get flipped by the spike!
Gabriel self-rights and comes on the attack, getting underneath Nitro-Gene and ramming it into the wall!
CRASH!
The rear shirt is all buckled and bent, and now Gabriel tries to flip Nitro-Gene again!
Paul lands on the rails, and would flip back in, but hes the right way up after being flipped by the spike and is powerless to stop himself falling out of the arena!
Slowly, slowly...
Paul wobbles precariously on the edge, then manages to reverse back into play- but back onto Gabriels flipper!
FLIP!
THE FIRST HEAT SEMI-FINAL IS OVER!
In a surprise result, Nitro-Gene bites the dust as Gabriel heads through to the heat final!
Heat Semi-Final 2/16:
Liar 2 v Weapon Synergy
Liar 2 flipped Cyrilium 2 OOTA in round one, but here its outnumbered 5-1, although with a weight advantage of 80kg!
Weapon Synergy battled the Botles Reunited in its eliminator, winning on a judges decision!
But Daniel could be flying here as each cluster weighs in at just 20kg!
Booth 1: Martijn M Benschop
Booth 2: Daniel Stickler
5,4,3,2,1, TERMINATE!
Weapon Synergy splits up and circles Liar 2, wating for the truth to come out!
But Martijn comes on the attack, easily getting under Rammer!
FLIP!
It soars up in a graceful arc, coming to rest OOTA!
Disc comes in on the attack, but Martijn spins and gets that side-wedge in underneath!
FLIP!
Disc flies over onto its side, and Martijn then gets the front wedge underneath!
FLIP!
Disc joins Rammer OOTA!
But now Claw comes in and grabs Liar 2 from behind, then forces it into the angle grinder!
Flipper comes in to try and get Matijn OOTA!
FLIP!
But Claw didnt let go, and so Liar 2 is freed from Weapon Synergys clutches and remains in the arena to get its own back on Flipper!
FLIP!
Another cluster can now be seen on the camera tracks!
In comes axe, and bashes Martijn on the side wedge!
But again Martijns weight adavnatge comes into play, this time allowing Liar 2 to shunt Axe into the corner, where it is propped up on the wall by the spike!
This time Liar 2 only needs to use a side wedge!
FLIP!
Claw is now the only one left in the fight, and comes in on the attack, only for Martijn to drive straight underneath!
FLIP!
FLIPPING FANTASTIC!
Liar 2 goes on to meet Gabriel II in the heat final!
Coming Next, a middleweight heat!
Life v Hazard
