Death Via Drum gets off the mark first, coming out towards Crash Bandi-Bot, which moves away tentatively. D.V.D. turns, trying to get to the sides of its opponent, who pauses briefly before driving up in the direction of the pit, then turning around to face D.V.D., which comes forward, and tries to dummy Crash to get around the sides with the drum!
CRASH! WOAH! Both machines hop up in the air, and D.V.D. lands inverted as Crash retracts the flipper - but that flipper is already looking a bit scratched up from the initial impact with the weapon. D.V.Ds drum pauses, as Paul switches its direction, before the robot backs off from the approaching Crash, trying to buy some spin-up time. D.V.D. turns away, driving out of the charge of the approaching Bandi-Bot, and then brings its drum around to face its aggressor, who comes in again, and pauses before both robots charge at each other!
CRASH! WOAH! CO2 vents from Crashs flipper, but it hasnt had any effect - the drum hit has flipped it up and over! D.V.D tries to come in again for another hit, to keep Crash under control...but Chris fires his machines rear spike, and hits one of the weapon supports on D.V.D., keeping it at bay. Crash then drives away, down towards the patrol zone, turning around for another attack, but D.V.D. comes in pursuit...the spike fires again, catching on one of the sides, but D.V.D. instead uses its Lynch motor drivetrain to try and push Crash into the patrol zone...Crashs wheels are spinning, but it finds itself being slowly edged into the zone. Dead Metal comes in, trying to get a hold of it with the pincers, and D.V.D. reverses away as the house robot drags Crash back into its lair, bringing the saw down to scar the paint on the top...Shunt is there as well, with the axe slightly denting the edge, but Crash manages to push Dead Metal away and get free, reversing out of the patrol zone over the flame pit, turning to face its adversary. D.V.D. comes in again with the weapon, but Crash second-guesses it and drives in underneath the front side to push it away....but D.V.D. bgins to slide off the wedge, and the drum makes contact!
CRASH! And Crash finds itself being flipped once again, the robot now beginning to look rather battle scarred. D.V.D. comes in again, but Chris looks confident, and drives in on D.V.D. with the flipper!
CRASH! WOAH! And theres sparks flying from the titanium, and D.V.D. is inverted agai-the flippers buckled! Part of the flipper of Crash Bandi-Bot has come away from the hinge, and appears to be bent backwards, the flipper doesnt seem to be closing anytime soon either...Crash rather sensibly drives away, up towards the pit, as D.V.D. moves in an arc around the arena, trying to both get in on Crash again and buy spin-up time for the reversed drum. It comes up the arena, towards Crash, who appears to be trying to draw D.V.D. in towards the pit area...Crash turns, getting its spike to face the opponent, and as D.V.D. drives in, Crash fires and deflects the charge, pushing D.V.D. near the pit! D.V.D. reverses away, and Crash comes in again, turning to set up a more precise ram, but it accidentally goes broadside on to its aggressor, and D.V.D. comes in again, going for the front!
CRASH! WOAH! And now theres gas leaking from Crash! The flipper mechanics appear to have taken a direct hit in that attack, and Crash bounces down looking rather battered, and D.V.D. backs off for another attack...Chris holds his transmitter in the air to get Crash away, but theres no movement obvious in his robot, and he looks concerned as Paul drives D.V.D in again!
CRASH! And perhaps rightly so, as Crash flips over again from the impact, revealing a small red object on the floor - the link. It must have come out when the flipper was hit, and now the outcome of this fight is fairly obvious, D.V.Ds weapon is spinning down as it reverses from the scene, Paul contented while Chris looks gutted.
CEASE
It was a tough fight, but at the end the winners are Paul Cuomo and Death Via Drum!

Awesome fights Joey. :)
Macduff the 3rd vs. D.V.D.
A worthy drum, but no matter how many times it hits me, and no matter how many times I get flipped, Ill be working in near-perfect to perfect condition. Thin hardox is still quite tough, and when its thinner, I can bolt it on more securely so panels dont fly off. :) Lifting wedge Ill be using here. Basically ram it, collect it on the wedge, and head on over to Mr. Pit. Failing that, ram it around then repeat.
Good luck Paul.

Unlucky Chris. Well done to Joey for writing a brilliant battle, and giving me a place in the Heat Final! :proud:
HEAT B FINAL
Macduff The Third vs. D.V.D: Now, this is a BAD draw. Kody has built an extremely resilient rammer, and I know my drum isnt going to seriously damage his Hardox armour. But I have a plan, and that plan is to spin-up and just keep on hitting him, as this will gain me points for the JD that may come at the end, and if I keep on hitting him, Ill win on style and aggression, and maybe even damage.
In addition, try to drum him into the house robots and let them do damage, or just try to survive.
Good luck Kody

Both machines start off slowly, coming out of their squares to face each other, as the weapon of D.V.D. begins to spin to maximum speed. Macduff comes forward, hoping to get the wedge underneath its opponent, as D.V.D. turns to try and get the drum around the sides of Macduff...but Macduff comes in and drives under the side of D.V.D, going beneath and high-centering it on the top of the raised wedge, and now turns towards the pit. Up in his control booth, Paul shakes his head, laughing as he realises what is about to happen, as Macduff stops near the edge of the pit, and begins to lower the wedge, and D.V.Ds weapon passes harmlessly over the tracks of Macduff as the robot slides down into the pit in a cloud of smoke, Kody retracting the aerial on his controls almost in disbelief at how quickly it was all over.
CEASE
After a very quick fight (17 seconds by my estimate), D.V.D. never really got going as Macduff The Third and Kody Kunz are the winners of Heat B!

SHA will take the route that has the ramp
-
The Chevron Championship
*considers putting ramps on all the routes to confuse Martijn*
Anyway...
FIRST, FROM SUFFOLK, ORKA MARK 4!
A six wheel drive marine beast armoured in titanium cladding, Orka has CO2 powered pneumatic weaponry consisting of a bucket scoop with a clamping arm, and a dorsal fin which extends to self right the machine. It has six wheel drive from S28-400 Magmotors which give it good traction and a maximum speed of fifteen miles an hour.
FROM MABLETHORPE, TRAX!
The name says it all, a tank tracked real machine with a front wedge scoop for getting underneath opponents and drawing them on to the front hinged pneumatic flipper bar. Trax runs from Magmotors and 4QD speed controllers with tank style steering, and is protected by high density polyethylene armour which is good for withstanding blunt impacts.
FROM TORONTO, SUPER GORE EVO!
Another tracked robot, Super Gore Evo runs on Vulkalon and titanium treads driven by Lynch motors and NiCad batteries at 36v, giving a top speed of eighteen miles an hour. It has skirt-like plates on each side to deter wedges and the main weapon is a set of interchangable horizontal hydraulic jaws that clamp or damage with a tip force of four tonnes.
FROM HOLLAND, SHEER HEART ATTACK!
More tracks here, from a robot that gains an advantage in battle by driving over an opponent and getting the front twenty two kilogram drum into play, spinning at 5000rpm. The tracks are titanium and allow the robot to be invertible, and are driven by 48v Lynch motors at speeds of fifteen miles an hour with the robots armour being 6mm titanium with bars to protect the tracks.
FROM ENGLAND, SON OF RIPPER HEX!
SoR Hex is an invertible box design with wedges and titanium skirts on all sides to get under opponents, protected by Hardox armour and powered by Lynch motors driving aluminium and Vulkalon wheels at 12mph. The weaponry consists of a front CO2 low pressure rear hinged flipper with interchangable rear weapons including a horizontal or vertical spinning bar, a saw blade or an armoured ramming plate.
FROM ENGLAND, STORM II!
Finally, tonights fastest and most well known robot, a realie with Lynch motors, custom speed control and six wheel drive underneath titanium armour. It relies on its speed and ramming power for weaponry, but also has a Magmotor-driven 4 bar lifting arm machined from aluminium, runs inverted, and has survived some of the most powerful spinners ever in the past.
Gaountlet up later, get your tactics in.

Orka immediately heads straight for the breezeblocks, ploughing into the centre of them and throwing up a cloud of white dust. It turns, and pushes the debris away, then attempts to about turn to reverse up the ramp. Coming back tentatively, Orka attempts to mount the seesaw...and stops. Chris tries his controls, but the wheels of his machine arent making contact with the ground, caught up on the ramp by a piece of brick. Killalot notices, and comes in...bringing the claw down, nudging Orka to one side, and setting it free! Now, it can try and mount the ramp, but Killalot has other plans, and gets the lower part of the jaws in on Orkas right hand self righting arm, and closing them! Orka speeds up the ramp, away from the house robot, but leaving the metal righting bar severed on the floor, but it doesnt affect it, as Orka comes down, feints beyond Dead Metal and crosses into the end zone!

A slow start for Trax, as it comes out of the cage, but it turns and drives into the bricks, knocking them over easily. Clearing them out of the way with the scoop, Trax starts up the ramp, coming to one side as it does so but correcting itself. The ramp lowers, and Trax makes its way down, but comes straight into Shunt at the bottom, and the house robot rams it with the scoop...neither is able to get under the other, but Shunt seems to have the edge in pushing ability, and edges Trax back into the side wall, before bringing the axe down to put a dent in the front scoop! Trax tries to get free, but Shunt comes in agian, pinning it from the side and lifting the robot up with the scoop. Shane shakes his head, and tries to maneuver Trax free, but hes not getting any traction in thin air, the tracks just spinning as Dead Metal begins to show an interest, as Shunts axe hits again, this time perforating the polyethylene top armour of Trax!

Super Gore Evo comes out and heads into the bricks, a popular choice this heat it would seem. The concrete comes crashing down, providing no real oposition to the claws of Super Gore Evo, who now comes in over the debris, but appears to be having problems turning on to the seesaw, with the bricks in the way - theres half of one between the claws and pieces under the tracks, preventing it from lining itself up properly. Killalot looms from the rear, coming in on Super Gore, which is now attempting to break through the right hand side railing, it would seem, but it doesnt look as if Super Gore has one of those tracks fully operating any more. Kody looks concerned, as from his view Super Gore disappears behind the bulk of Killalot, who gets the lance underneath the claws, and drags it up into the air, holding it aloft by a claw as Bash comes in up the left side alley, torching the underside of the stricken machine.

The seesaw tilts, and some of the bricks that were carried between the tracks topple forward and slide down ahead of Sheer Heart Attack, as Dead Metal comes in to try and block the route, and gets the pincers in around one of the tracks. Martijn keeps going though, as the house robots wheels spin in an attempt to slow the machines advance, but the saw comes down and sparks fly from the plating protecting the sides of the robot. Sheer Heart Attack turns, though, and breaks the grip of the house robot, before Martijn powers forward over the finish line!

Andy pauses for a moment, before backing his robot away slightly and turning it just over the edge of the pit, away from the house robot, and coming away from danger and down the route, as Sgt. Bash sends out a burst of flame. He then comes in, towards SoR, and rams into the approaching robot with the blade, preventing further advancing. SoR backs away, before coming in and ramming the military machine, to wedge under it and push it out of the way, but it holds firm, and Shunt is now there with the scoop, getting in under the contestant robot! Ed reverses Storm a few inches to try and line up a clean run through the rest, but backs his machine on to the saws, and as sparks briefly fly, Storm gets stuck on the ramping, unable to move. Frantic discussions in the drivers booth ensue, as Storms wheels spin without any effect, its not going to make it any further down the course. Super Gore Evo, Im afraid its time for you to go. (This is NOT a pattern of the previous heats winner going out in the gauntlet of the next by the way, I only just noticed this after I wrote all the runs)
COMING TOMORROW:
ROBOTIC SOCCER
Dead Metal in goal, Sgt. Bash in defence with his LEM200s. You can make reasonable modifications to your robot for this (scoops, flappy things etc.) as well as have tactics, but bear in mind you cannot use weapons except for self righting.
One more thing: From next heat, the middle route of the gauntlet will have pinball-style barrels instead of blocks at the start. Its not a major change as far as ease of completion is concerned, its just theres only so many times you can write about collapsing bricks before it becomes soul destroying :proud: If anyone has a problem with this, tell me.

Only Orka Mk4 and Trax remain, and of those Trax is the more active, Orka appears to have a problem at this stage. Trax comes in on the ball, knocking it back into the surround, before ramming into Sgt. Bash again, turning away. Trax moves across towards Orka, which hasnt actually moved for some time - the scoop is off the surround, but its completely stopped, and on the balcony Chris is saying something to Shane, looking depressed. Trax rams into Orka, almost trying to get it moving again it would seem, and Dead Metal has noticed this as well, coming out and grabbing a hold of Orka, dragging it over to the surround. However, the house robot is rammed by Trax, and lets go to target Shanes machine, and Bash comes in as well with a flick of flame. Trax struggles free of both house machines, wedging into Orka again, backing off and ramming it harder, but its not doing any good for the whale, and Chris is shaking his head up on the platform, retracting his transmitter aerial. Orka is gripped by Dead Metal once more, and the house robots saw comes down, scratching up the top paintwork as the sparks fly, while Trax now appears to be taking on the Sargeant, wedging in underneath and tipping it onto its side, inside the goalmouth! Shane celebrates, to Chriss applause, and now steers Trax up towards the ball, finally remembering that the ball should be in the goal. It stops, and nudges the ball, which rolls up on to the surround, and Trax rams the surround to get it free, and attempts to control it in the direction it should be going. Dead Metals preoccupied with Orka, cutting a nice slot above the clamping device, Bash is going nowhere fast and Trax moves forward, under the ball, and steers it into Dead Metal! The house robot releases the long-dead Orka, now coming in on Trax, who attempts to get the ball again, and does so, but is rammed by the pincers...the ball rolls free, though, and stops just teasingly before the line! Traxs tracks are spinning, and it rotates Dead Metal around in some sort of waltz with it, and the rear end of the robot hits the ball, at long last knocking it into the goal!
TRAX HAS SCORED!
On the balcony, Shane shakes his head in relief, laughing to hinself as he shakes Chriss hand, before they both come down from up high to assist in the moving of their robots.
RESULTS:

hmmmmmmmmm good old revenge match with trax and strom 2. the last fight on extreme 2 new blood all trax could do is skit around the arena with zero grip. getting tips from storm 2 tho trax has now got vulcoln added to the tracks and should put up a much better fight. only has to get under storm a little and its wheels are useless. will be going for a pit but wont count out an oota if storm 2 is far enough up onto trax to get a good flip. devestating as storm 2 can be trax is well built and takes all storm could throw at it in new blood. its on you tube somewhere i will find the link

Well - here I am! After another heat Final, and I feel condifent. I think the only changes Trax has had is those Vulkalon patches, but hes still got the same drive motors. Those motors only produce 8hp in total - I produce 18hp in total. So therefore I have more. Just get around his sides and push him around like in Series 7, until it goes to the JD.
In the other match, I expect Sheer Heart Attack to bash up SOR HEX to win.
Good luck Shane

Son of Ripper Hex vs. Sheer Heart Attack 2
Bad draw for SoR here.
Storm II vs. Trax
Trax is a good machine, but all the same I still feel that Storm II will get by in a judges decision.
-
The Chevron Championship
just my thoughts........a 100kg robot can only produce so much down force so getting power to the wheels like 18 horse power will make the wheels spin. if the robot weighed 300kg you would get more power to the floor. my personal opinion is that 18hp is a bit of a waste cos you cant get the power to the floor. in a tug of war i doubt there will be much difference. not taking anything away from storm 2 tho a very powerful robot but its the speed of it not the 18hp that does the job. mabee i am totally wrong and someone will no doubt put me right.
-
The Chevron Championship
oh and yes its luck i will need. good luck too paul. :)

Youre spot on Shane, but then again 18hp is something to brag about. I had it in RCC1, and in Warzone, 2 9hp startermotors for drive. They drained a 40Ah SLA in 5 mins. :)
