The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 1
Right, there are 4 fights I could do now, with only 3 spots left in the 2nd round, how that works out you ask, well I don€™t know.
The heavily delayed Fight 11
Autoism vs. Flyte
The first robot into the arena for the 11th fight is Flyte, entered by Aaron; Flyte is a classic box-wedge with 4 wheels, with skirts, which are not being worm today. The main weapon is an evil flipper system, which is fast to operate and lightweight. It has a low centre of gravity and tough armour. It can run upside down, so if it gets flipped it can run away to safety to self-right, and also it means that in a battle to the death, even if the co2 levels drop, it can still run up-side down.
The 2nd robot into the arena today is Autosim; it is a box with pointy sides, with a Big Nipper style 8 wheel set-up, with 4 on top and 4 on the bottom. The weapon is a lifting arm which can swing up or down, with some nasty crushing pillars on the front, however both lifter and crusher are on the same system, so it can only lift and crush together. The armour is tough, apart from the sides which are aluminium with weight-saving hole drilled in on the inside. The skirts are Hardox, so they shouldn€™t get damaged when stuck by a spinner.
The battle boxes are locked, as the arena is sealed. The announcer beings to announce:

It€™s a rather slow start to the fight, as Autoism is the first to move away from the starting squares, as Aaron is holding back, waiting for Autoism to make the first attack. Flyte isn€™t using the skirts today, as Paul puts on full power, as Autoism drives towards Flyte, with the crushing/lifting arm ready to crush €˜n€™ lift Flyte towards the pit. Aaron is still waiting, as he drives Flyte forward, as Paul flicks the controls sending Autoism to the sides of Flyte, Aaron spins around on his 4 wheels to counter-act the attack from Autoism, as Autoism towers over Flyte, being 15cm taller than Aaron€™s machine. Paul drives away quickly to try and make another attack, not wanting to lower his weapon, as that lifts the front end of Autoism up, forcing all the weight onto the arm to get underneath machines, as it would give Flyte an opening in which to get the flipper into play. Paul knows that given even the slightly opening Aaron can finish Autoism off within a few seconds, with a well placed flip.
Flyte turns watching Autoism, as it circles Flyte, before charging in, Aaron is waiting, as Flyte turns to the left to keep Autoism from getting to the front, as Paul tries to spin Autoism around to the sides of Flyte, as for the first time in the fight, both machines come together, as it is a deadlock, neither robot is underneath, as Flyte pushes back, using the bigger wheels to get more grip on the arena surface compared to the smaller wheels of Autoism, even though Autoism has more power, Flyte is winning the pushing battle, pushing Autoism, all be it a bit slowly towards the centre of the arena. Paul flicks Autoism into reverse and locks the left hand side wheels, spinning Autoism around as the sudden lack of pushing force sends Flyte forward, as Autoism comes back onto the attack, slamming into the sides of Flyte before Aaron recovers, the lifter starts to rise, as the crusher starts to crush on nothing but air. Autoism turns and heads towards the pit release button. Flyte fires the flipper, wobbling the machine a bit; another short sharp flip manages to free Flyte from Autoism, as the pit release button is pressed. Aaron comes straight back onto the attack, slamming into the side skirts.
The skirts have been breached, as Flyte has the front end underneath Autoism, and fires the flipper, sending Autoism against the arena wall, being too close to the wall to get an out of the arena, as the lifter pushes Autoism away from the wall, landing onto Flyte, landing onto the front 2 wheels of Flyte, pushing the front end down, as Flyte reverses before firing the flipper, Autoism hits the arena wall, but doesn€™t go over it, coming back onto it€™s wheels and shooting away from the front end of Flyte. Aaron is cursing his bad luck, as he turns Flyte around and drives away from the pit area. Autoism comes back onto an attack, as Flyte is waiting, waiting for the right time, as suddenly all hell breaks loose, as Flyte dodges Autoism€™s attack, spinning around to get around to the rear end, as Paul spins Autoism around, not wanting to lose judges decision points by running away from danger, Flyte launches into a power drive, slamming straight at Autoism€™s front end, getting underneath that lifter, the front end of Autoism hits against the top of the wedge, as Flyte pushes back, the 2 wheels remaining on the ground of Autoism are trying to get traction as the front 2 wheels are spinning away in the air with nothing to slow them down, as the front flipper fires on Flyte sending Autoism against the arena wall, resting so that the front end is sticking out over the edge, as Paul starts to raise the lifter to remove Autoism from the wall, as Flyte comes in with another attack, getting underneath the rear end of Autoism and fires the flipper, as Autoism goes up, staying upright, in a slight arc, before landing onto the arena fence, before the weight of the lifting arm slightly raised brings Autoism down onto the camera tracks.
Cease
Flyte manages to get Autoism out of the arena, after a long fight, and moves into the 2nd round.
Moving quickly onto
Fight 15!
The Cat vs. The Top Hat
The first item into the arena today is the Top Hat, placed onto the top of a Kids RC car; it€™s a bog-standard £600 Victorian style top hat, made from the finest materials money could buy, where the kids RC car is a standard £23.99 effect, made lovingly out of plastic and more plastic, it has 4 air-filled tyres and is to be feared.
The second item into the arena today is the cat; I said the 2nd item into the arena today is the cat. The people at the arena entrance are radioing the judges and saying that the cat had run off, chasing a mouse, or maybe it felt embarrassed in the presence of the top hat. Therefore in that case the top hat wins by default and doesn€™t get a place in round 2 because it is a top hat and not a robot.
The real fight 15 will be between the mighty Orka marks the fourth against the fourth seeded Avarice.
The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 1, Fight 15
Orka Mk 4 vs. Avarice (4)
The first machine into the arena today is Orka, this Behemoth look-a-like is shaped like Behemoth and has a Behemoth style lifting scoop at the front, and with a claw to claw onto other machine, so a bit like the axe of Behemoth. It also has 6 wheels, like you-know-who, and there is a fin on the top to help self-righting.
The 2nd machine into the arena today is the 4th seed, Avarice, last season it took out Son of Ripper by some lucky hitting on the wheels, but fell apart against May Tracks and Forklift, so this time Kody has made the axe arm stronger and re-enforced it, and made it more powerful. It is an Omni robot, so it can move in any direction, giving it un-rivalled movement in the tournament. Its front scoop has been re-enforced and made stronger, and the Hardox armour is strong.
Both machines are in the arena for Chris€™s 2nd fight of the tournament and Kody€™s first fight of the tournament, having to wait right until the last 2 battles of round 1 to fight, well let€™s put it Kody wasn€™t happy when the draw was made, as he is waiting, having been practising driving Avarice in the practise arena for the past few weeks and even finding time to enter Avarice into the Robot version of Strictly Come Dancing, finishing 2nd to Frank€™s dancing machine, which he found in his bottom-less pockets, but having to wait until the end is nothing like the madness Chris felt when he found out he had drawn 2 seeded machines.

Activate
Orka is away, straight away, looking to get that front scoop into play, Chris is hoping that the titanium armour should hold out long enough against the axe, if he gets hit, as Kody starts to move, ready on the controller with Avarice, ready to dance the tango, as Orka is driving towards Avarice, before turning at the last moment to try and get around the sides of Avarice, but Kody€™s omni-drive spins Avarice around like a six-pence and both front ends meet each other.
Avarice spins around and tries to break loose, and does so, spinning around to the side of Orka, firing the axe, landing a heavy blow onto the top, once, twice, 3 times a lady sang funk/soul band The Commodores, as Orka breaks free from Avarice to spin and attack once more, as Avarice dances away as everybody gonna dance tonight, as Orka spins around to try and stop Avarice from being the axe into the top of it, where a large hole has appeared, but thankfully all the main parts are low down, and protected more strongly, as Orka comes back onto the attack, but Kody is waiting and dodges away from Orka, and before Chris can come back onto another attack, the axe is back into the top of it, with some more blows.
Orka turns around and tries to get onto Avarice, but once more Kody flicks the controls as the dance lingers on, as Avarice gets underneath the sides of Orka once more with the front scoop, firing the axe some more time, each time planting a strong blow onto Orka, as Chris turns Orka around, meeting nothing as Avarice is sticking to the side of Orka, planting another blow, making the top like a pepper pot lid, Chris drives off away from Avarice, as Kody spins around waiting for the next attack, axe ready to make some more friends. Okra drives into the pit release button, opening the pit, is Chris going to commit suicide and drive down the pit away from danger?
Off course not, Orka is driving back towards Avarice, but stops a few feet away from Avarice, Kody is waiting to see what Orka does, as Chris presses the forward drive button, ready to try and counter-dance Avarice, and drives straight towards Avarice. Kody spins on the spot and away from Orka, as Chris flicks the controls and for the first time of the fight actually meets Avarice head on, the front scoop fires, but missing Avarice, which moves away from the scoop just before it fired, as the axe comes down, coming straight though the scoop like it was made of paper, before spinning away. Orka gives chase, but as soon as Orka gets near Avarice, Kody flicks the controls and makes Avarice dance away, but before the axe can come into play Orka is back onto the attack, although the damage is already done to Orka, but Chris is not backing down, looking for a mistake by Kody to enable the holy scoop to get into play. Kody is being careful with his dodges, to try and protect Avarice from attack, as he knows what would happen if Orka gets Avarice onto it€™s back, as it happened last season, where May Tracks got Avarice onto it€™s back once and managed to keep getting it onto it€™s back by getting underneath it when it self-righted. Orka spins around, as Avarice spins, 30 seconds remain on the clock, as Chris knows that damage along would see Orka out, as he comes back onto attack, as both machines meet head-on, once more.
And once more Avarice using its clever drive spins away from danger before the front scoop can come into play, this time getting to the side and firing the axe. There is CO2 coming from one of the machines, as a part of the gas network on Orka is breached, knocking out the front scoop, as Avarice comes back down with another killer blow, as more CO2 comes out of Avarice, as the axe shots backwards, sending Avarice into a hop, as a bang is heard from Orka, as Avarice drives away, Orka gives chase, even with a burst co2 cylinder, Orka isn€™t giving up, as 15 seconds remain. Avarice spins around out of the way once more, as Orka turns the wrong way, as Avarice brings the axe into the rear end of Orka, before Chris reverses, slamming into Avarice, the rear end going up the scoop, and pushing Avarice backwards, Kody unable to get away, but it€™s going in the wrong direction, as the axe keeps on firing regardless, before coming to a stop, with 5 seconds of the fire to go, Kody presses the axe button, but nothing happens, as the out-of-gas button flashes on the controller, Kody has managed to use 5kg of CO2 in less than 5 minutes. 3 seconds remain as Avarice is slammed into the arena wall, by Orka, which spins around, allowing Avarice to escape.
Cease
Both robots are out of CO2, Orka is full of holes, but Avarice just couldn€™t finish the old warhorse off. The judge is out and about in the arena to look for damage on Avarice, and to attempt to note down the damage on Orka. Before coming back 10 minutes later with a fresh cup of tea to tally up his results.
Meanwhile when the judge is tallying up his results, let€™s move quickly onto Fight 16 when Kody is in the control Booth. Chris exits to look at Orka as members of Kody€™s pit-team remove Avarice out of the arena, before Tira is wheeled in€¦
Fight the 16th
The first robot to be wheeled into the arena is Tira 3; this wide-boy is already into the semi-finals of Dr. Frankson€™s tournament, with its vertical spinning disc, low skirting and 20 mph top speed. However it lacks a self-righter, so if a super-wedge comes along and gets underneath and plants Tira onto it€™s back, it€™s all over, there is no distance left to run, the disc isn€™t the main weapon, it is that evil sticker on the rear of the machine, evil enough to scary most people into holding up the white flag. So who is facing the evil sticker today?
The 2nd robot to be wheeled into the arena today for this fight is Baldur Gamma, known from this point as Baldur. Baldur is a well-known spinner-killer, with its bomb-proof armour, which is actually bomb-proof as Alex put a couple of bombs nearby and the internals of Baldur were undamaged. Baldur is small and compact, with 4 wheels to drive it, and has a front lifting scoop designed to lift robots off the ground just enough so that it can ram them at speed into arena walls etc.
Both machines are in the arena, as the judge returns from the judgement room, from totalling up the scores from Kody€™s first match, with another fresh cup of tea, and cupcake, sitting down, electronic notepad in hand, before giving the thumbs up

Baldur is not standing back and waiting for Tira to get that 25KG spinning disc up-to speed, and as soon as Activate is called, Alex has put Baldur into top gear and zoomed straight towards Tira, as both robots hit head-on, after just a couple seconds, as first contact is made, as Baldur drives straight towards the disc. The disc hits into Baldur sending it away, as it lands, Alex drives away, and knowing not to attempt to drive into the disc again, as Kody is keeping Tira towards Baldur. Tira has the higher top speed, but that massive disc means that it would be unpredictable at high speeds if it needs to turn quickly, as Baldur enters into a large circle, trying to break free, before spinning around and circling Tira the other way. Kody is waiting for the 2nd attack from Baldur, as that comes soon as Baldur breaks free and makes a break for the sides of Tira. Kody spins as Alex€™s machine gets near the disc.
Kody spins and drives into Baldur€™s sides, trying to break loose a panel, as Baldur is spun other onto its side, and again, as Tira flips Baldur over, before Alex comes into with another attack, driving into the disc area at full speed. The disc hits into the scoop, tearing into the titanium, but doesn€™t send Baldur away, as the bottom of the scoop is underneath the disc, underneath the machine, as Alex puts on full power pushing Tira backwards, more damage is done to the top of the scoop. Baldur spins away from Tira, Alex knowing that he couldn€™t do much with that attack, seeing as the pit was at the other end of the arena. Tira gives chase, but Baldur spins out of the way before the disc can slam into the rear end. Baldur spins around and tries to get around the rear, and after 3 attempts at switching direction quickly manages to make Kody to make a mistake, as the wide-boy fails to turn quick enough as Baldur slams into the rear corner, the front spatula-like extension on the scoop manages to breach the side skirts, as Baldur starts to lift the scoop up, to lift the corner of Tira up, but that massive disc at the front is managing to keep Tira from tipping up, as Baldur puts on full power with the rear skirt raised, by the front scoop, Baldur pushes Tira forward, Kody is trying to get away, but the wheels can not get any grip on the arena surface, as Tira is slammed into the arena fence, the front disc destroying the fence in the process.
Cease
The judge has called an early cease between the two robots, so that repairs can be made to the fence. Both robots are driven to the other side of the arena, as both drivers pour themselves fresh cups of tea, as the judge gives out the results of fight 15.
Aggression: Orka was always on the attack, where Avarice kept on dodging and attacking, therefore Orka gets 11 points and Avarice gets 4 points.
Control: Both machines were well controlled, giving nothing away, although Avarice kept getting around the sides of Orka, so Avarice gets 9 points compared to Orka€™s 6 points.
Damage Caused: Well, after close inspection found no damage to Avarice, against Orka€™s damage, the judge has decided for the first time to award all 15 points to Avarice.
Totals: Avarice 28, Orka 17, therefore the 4th seed moves onto round 2, but after a good-old fight. Where the action returns to the final fight of round 1, as the arena has been repaired, as both robots have returned to where they were, with Baldur underneath the rear end of Tira.
Activate:
Baldur starts by driving away from Tira rear end, but keeping close, as Kody happy about Avarice€™s victory, puts that behind him and hopes to be one of the few people with both machines in round 2, as Baldur comes in with a sudden side attack, getting underneath the side skirts, with ease, pushing Tira sideways, the front scoop lifted to try and unbalance the machine, as Baldur shuns Tira into the wall, bouncing it away, the repair guys have crossed their fingers, as Tira bounces for a moment, coming close to the arena wall, as in that moment of bouncing, Baldur is underneath Tira, as Baldur drives Tira near the arena wall, the wheels of Tira are spinning like mad, trying to get grip on the air, as the front scoop starts to lift, before Tira is shunned into the arena wall again, this time in a more solid part of the wall, and once more the wall is destroyed, as Tira goes into another dance, the judge doesn€™t call a cease, this time, as Baldur shunts Tira into the pit release button, before allowing Tira free, and quickly driving away, but not before Kody slams into the rear end of Baldur with the disc, sending Baldur end over end, landing close to the pit, as Baldur drives away from danger. Tira comes back onto the attack, trying to damage the bomb-proof Baldur, as Alex spins around, and drives straight at Tira, the driving force doesn€™t mean that Baldur goes flying, just some Hardox flying away from the front scoop, as Baldur pushes on forward, pushing Tira backwards, backwards towards the pit, as some more armour from Baldur is sent away, as Tira is slowly pushed towards the pit.
Kody is looking worried, as he tries and thinks up a way of escaping Baldur€™s grip on the battle, but whatever plan he has had has just gone up in smoke as Tira is dumped into the pit. Baldur spins around and for the first time of the battle, the damage to the front scoop system becomes clear, that last blow placing a large slice in the front scoop, deep enough to get though to the foam.
Cease
The arena repair men are happy, apart from the damage to the arena wall, which the judge didn€™t want to call a cease for, and apart from the damage to the arena wall, which they could only repair temporary. But they must be happy that round 1 is over, as Baldur pits Tira and moves on forward to round 2.
Round 2 Draw

Or
1 Hypertension Mk 3 Vs. Baldur
2 Avarice (4) Vs. Axe To Fall
3 Wedgas Revenge Vs. Flick of the Wrist
4 Resonance Vs. BIACS-LE
5 Drilla Killa 7 Vs. Nitro-Gene 2 (2)
6 Flyte Vs. Turbo Tails
7 The May Tracks Have You (1) Vs. Eternia
8 Death Threat Vs. Cat With Wheels
However will I do the fights in that order?
Nope :lame:
WOOT! Go Dave, and good draw. Heres my tactics and predictions.
Hypertension Mk 3 Vs. Baldur Gamma: Hypertension has the flipping power, and Baldur doesnt like a flipper as an opponent, but Hypertension doesnt like pushers...Ill go for Matt.
Avarice (4) Vs. Axe To Fall: To axe robot with axes that have enough power to make Soloman blush :proud: But due to the armour of the Dutch robot, Kodys robot will hack it up.
Wedgas Revenge Vs. Flick of the Wrist: OMG! Who to side with here? :uhoh:. Im siding with the Wedga to keep on getting under and to toss Flick OOTA.
Resonance Vs. BIACS-LE: OMG x 2  Now we need to think this through. Resonance is supposed to be the new boy on the block, with its hella powerful drum, but I remember Aaron once saying that a disc is more powerful than a drum, and with the way the disc on BIACS-LE spins, itll have a greater effect than Resonance will have. Ill go for BIACS-LE via a KO.
Drilla Killa 7 Vs. Nitro-Gene 2.0 (2): WOOT! Ive got a robot in the second round. And its against a vapourboteer Ive wanted to fight in a one-on-one for quite some time - out of respect. But what do I do against a rammer that can still wedge me even if flipped. Answer - DONT SHOW ANY FEAR! Ram him from all sides, (particularly the rear, but go the front as well). My flipper is very heavy and strong, and it can get underneath ANYTHING, so get under, push it to the sides and toss OOTA.
Flyte Vs. Turbo Tails: Ill go for Tails to avenge Autoism for me :lame: via JD.
The May Tracks Have You (1) Vs. Eternia: A good fight, but I have to go with...the champion to perform its annoying tyre tearing routine on Eternia.
Death Threat 0.1 Vs. Cat With Wheels: Ill go for Danny to win :proud:. But hell win with Cat With Wheels.
Looks good Dave. Well done.
quote:
the flywheel crashing into the helpless camera, ripping it to shreds, which is a shame as that camera was 1 day away from retirement. That made my day.
Tactics, get in from the sides, even if the flipper is not totally under flip it ayway so its upside down, that should give me more space to get the flipper in position for an oota.
Ouch. First loss for Tira. w00t for Avarice though. :proud:
Avarice (4) Vs. Axe To Fall
Thought Id be seeing you again, Marti. :proud: Well Axe to Fall has less armour than Orka so I will damage that quite nicely. Other than that, the usual omni-bot tactics, swerve away from the front, go for the sides, hack to death, maybe get under, shunt to pit.
So any more tactics/predictions/brass monkeys?
my tactic is to try to beat Avarice and Wedgas Revenge with Axe to Fall and Flick of the Wrist
*hands Martijn a metal beating bar*
I believe thatd put my vapours over their weight limits
fine
*takes back metal beating bar*
For my tactics see Pauls predictions :p Try to finish Eternia with an OOTA.
Except to see some battles this weekend, I have already worked out some battle plans for the first couple matches, although those could be binned if the tactics posted by people are 100% different to what I have assumed them to be.
The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 2, Fight 1
Who will be the first pair to enter into the arena to fight for the first of 8 places in round 3?
*invites audience member to press the button, as the ties all flash up on the fancy over the top massive TV screen before landing on*
Flyte vs. Turbo Tails
As there is a large gasp from the audience, as the action flashes to the pits, where the interviewer, who shall be named Sally, is getting ready to interview the first 2 Roboteers to enter the arena.
Sally: Steve, you€™re the first robot into the arena for round 2, how does that make you feel?
Steve: Nervous
Sally: You had an easy tie for round 1, so is Turbo Tails up for the battle against Flyte?
Steve: With any luck, my only worry is that the blade on the back of Tails is actually too high for the low Flyte, so it might not be effective
Sally: well that is a bugger, but you do hold the speed advantage
Steve: But it€™s only 1 mph, and due to the way the spinning blade is mounted at the rear, the front isn€™t as low as it should be.
Sally: Well good luck
Steve: Thanks
*Steve and some random guys from the pits push Turbo Tails up the ramp and into the arena to get it set up ready to fight*
Sally: So Aaron, are you happy with your draw?
Aaron: Yes, I am
Sally: And why is that?
Aaron: Although Tails has the upper hand in speed, I have the lower wedge and the rear weapon is mounted too high to do any damage
Sally: You took a while to get Autoism out of the arena in round 1, are you hoping for a faster action this time?
Aaron: Yes, Autoism had that arm, which meant I couldn€™t get it stuck against the wall to get a good attack in.
Sally: Are you using the skirts?
Aaron: I am
Sally: Well good luck
Aaron: Thanks very much, and may I have your number as your fit.
*Aaron and some more random guys from the pits push Flyte up the ramps and get it set up ready to fight*
Before the fight starts, this is how the two machines got this far, in round 1, Turbo Tail€™s original opponent, Counter redrew from the competition, to be replaced by Woody, which Steve€™s machine destroyed in a matter of seconds. Meanwhile, Flyte put Autoism out of the arena.
Both Roboteers are ready to fight, as the judge is ready, the announcer beginnings to announce:

And Flyte is away, Aaron wants a quick fight, as Turbo Tails starts off slowly, before putting the drive into full power, the rear spinning bar is spinning up-to speed, as Steve dodges to avoid Flyte€™s first attack. Aaron spins Flyte around and so does Turbo Tails, as it reverses, aiming for the pit release button.
Turbo Tails spins away to avoid Flyte, but Aaron attacks again, slamming into the sides of Turbo Tails and fires the flipper, Turbo Tail hits the arena floor, bar first making a lovely mess of the floor, as Flyte slams in quickly aiming towards the open pit, Turbo Tails presses the flipper button, as it jumps out of the way, Flyte gives chase and before Turbo Tails can move, Aaron€™s machine is underneath the rear end of Turbo Tails, the bar stopped due to damage it received from slamming into the floor.
The rear wheels of Turbo Tails are trying to get grip, but Flyte is pushing Turbo Tails towards the arena wall and with a sudden burst of CO2, Flyte tosses Turbo Tails over the wall and onto the camera tracks below.
Cease
Flyte flips Turbo Tails over the wall and into round 3.
Next time it will be:
Drilla Killa 7 vs. Nitro-Gene 2 (2)
w00ty, Dave. :)
Drilla Killa 7 will keep to Nitro-Gene 2s sides and ram him around, trying to use the drill on the wheels - usual tactics, really.
Ive already sent my tactics for this battle. Im not too worried about the drill, as my armour should be thick enough to protect me, and I have the more power and the lower front end, so Im fine, just attack and attack and score an OOTA or another JD.
By the way, Aaron should have aid Can I have your number as youRE fit not your fit Excuse me for being petty, but I write fan-fiction books in my past-time.

The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 2, Fight 2
So, I€™m on a €œUse it or Lose it€ holiday, and I€™m having a stay-at-hone day due to the high cost of fuel, so let€™s move onto the 2nd fight.
Drilla Killa 7 vs. Nitro-Gene 2 (2)
The first robot into the arena is Drilla Killa 7, who in round 1 had to beat both Woody and D-J; it€™s the invertible skirted box with twin wedges and some nasty drills.
The 2nd robot into the arena today is the 2nd seed Nitro-Gene who had a close scare against Die-Ceratops, where it needed a Judges Decision to get passed Chris€™ launcher. It is the invertible box with a front wedge and a nasty flipper.
Both robots are ready, as the countdown begins:
3
2
1
Activate
And so it begins, both robots are away, Richard wanting to avoid that nasty flipper, as he knows the skirts might not stand up for much pressure and might give-way to allow Nitro-Gene€™s flipper in underneath, where Paul knows one false move could see Richard€™s industrial drills drill into the Hardox armour, like they did in the previous 2 battles. Nitro-Gene pushes on, as Drilla Killa gets ready for the attack, as both machines clash head-on.
Drilla Killa is underneath Nitro-Gene, as the lower front end of the drilling machine is slightly lower than the front end of Nitro-Gene, as Richard puts on full power pushing Nitro-Gene backwards, the wheels on Nitro-Gene are spinning away trying to get some traction on the slightly greasy arena surface, as Drilla Killa slams Nitro-Gene into the arena wall, the drill coming into place on the underside of the body.
Sparks fly, as the diamond tipped industrial drill bit makes a lovely mess of the underside of Nitro-Gene, giving it a hole, as Paul manages to get some grip on the arena surface and manages to break free from the driller, spinning away to get ready for another attack, as Drilla Killa gets ready for another attack from Nitro-Gene, as Paul puts on full power, turning Nitro-Gene into a 4 motor, 6 wheel drive rammer, where the front 2 wheels on either side are powered by a motor, and the rear wheels are powered by the 2nd motors, giving some nifty handling, it€™s the same set-up in both machines, as Nitro-Gene comes storming in, dodging at the last moment, but Drilla Killa spins on the wheels, as Nitro-Gene slams into Drilla Killa at an angle, getting underneath, and before you could say the worst week of the week award awarded weekly on a week by week basis, Drilla Killa is being pushed towards the arena wall. The audience are shouting for an OOTA, as Paul fires the flipper button sending Drilla Killa up in a lovely arc, as it crashes down...
€¦on the wrong side of the arena fence.
Cease
Drilla Killa put up a good fight, but Nitro-Gene used its flipper head to put the driller out of the arena, as the 2nd seed moves onto the final 8.
Next time, it€™s the return of the champion, still in showroom condition, as it€™s The May Tracks Have You (1) vs. Eternia.
Brilliant fight Dave! One of the best ever as far as Im concerned. Nitro-Gene is doing quite well at the moment, and I hope it lasts when I face my next opponent - Flyte...beware! :uhoh:
The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 2, Fight 3
The May Tracks Have You (1) vs. Eternia
And so it comes, yet another flipper showdown. In round 1, May Tracks had an easy job taking care of Shiny Happy People, whereas Eternia had to use its armour and speed to put out Dante, after several attempts. These 2 Machines have the 1 OOTA under their belts already, this round has already seen 2 OOTA€™s, and so will fight 3 produce another OOTA?
Well frankly my dear, I wouldn€™t bet against it. Both robots are wheeled into the arena; I got bored at doing the fight interviews, so let€™s fight!!!

The sound of the gun being fired rings though the arena, as both machines are away, both have high powered flipper weapons, the champion has the speed advantage of 20 mph to 11.25 mph, the tracks are against the 4 wheel drive Eternia, Leo€™s machine has the lower front end due to the flipper arm being pulled down, but it has a 5mm ground clearance on the sides compared to the champion€™s skirted sides. Meanwhile getting back to the fight, both machines are holding back from an all-out attack, waiting to see which machine blinks first.
And the machines wait€¦
And wait€¦
Frank flicks the controls to get May Tracks off the flying Windows screensaver, but both robots are still waiting, before suddenly Eternia breaks ranks and charges towards May Tracks. Frank is shocked for a nanosecond, before getting ready to dodge the attack, not wanting to risk the skirts against Eternia€™s low front end in case the low front end manages to break underneath the low skirts of May Tracks, as Leo continues straight on. Frank drives away from Eternia before spinning on the tracks and putting on full power continues to plough towards Eternia, Leo turns his machine around and gets ready. May Tracks flicks the controls twice, Eternia flicks the controls, but in a different way to Frank€™s evil dodging trick, as May Tracks slams underneath the sides of Eternia, and starts to push the machine, the spike strip is up, locking the wheel of Eternia against the front wedge, as Eternia spins the wheels, managing to pull away from May Tracks, as Frank fires the flipper sending Eternia onto it€™s back.
Leo fires his own flipper straight away to self-right, but May Tracks is straight away underneath Eternia before it could move, this time underneath the front, as the wheels are caught against the spike trap, Eternia puts on full power learning from last series to drive up the wedge instead of down the wedge to protect the wheels, as Frank fires the flipper for a 2nd time, once more sending Eternia into a lovely arc, backwards towards the centre of the arena. May Tracks turns like a tank and continues it€™s march towards Eternia, as Leo has got his machine self-righted and ready to defend again. Eternia dodges May Tracks attack, as Leo tries to launch into a counter-attack, slamming into the sides of May Tracks, but the skirts have held out, as the front of Eternia slams into the side of May Tracks, pushing the champion sideways, which isn€™t good for the tracks.
May Tracks puts down the power and manages to escape from Eternia, and straight away rams Eternia from the side, catching Leo off guard and straight away the flipper fires to avoid a repeat of last time. May Tracks goes straight into Eternia and fires the flipper again, as Eternia goes for a flying lesson over the fence, landing on it€™s back, where it quickly self-rights, looking for a way back into the arena, as May Tracks spins on the spot, flipper firing in celebration of another victory.
Cease
A gallant effect from Eternia, but May Tracks adds another notch to Frank€™s winning belt, and moves into the quarter finals where it will meet the winner of the next fight:
Death Threat vs. Cat with Wheels
The battle of Danny and his clone.
I vote Danny to win. :proud:
Nah, Dannys got it in the bag. Danny makes good robots, but he just cant compete with Danny:proud:
Erm... Death Threat will try to crush it up and pit it, while Cat with Wheels will get underneath, shove it to the sides, and get it out.
Yeah.
So you have no overall preference which machine goes forward to the quarters?
As it usually happens in the rare time when 2 of your machines fight each other, normally you give the writer some idea which machine you want moving forward.
(Message edited by DavidS on March 20, 2008)
Oh. Errm. Id prefer Cat with Wheels, if I had a choice, but its your tourney. Choose who would win, not who I want to win.
Man, I say Errm a lot.
Fair enough
Who do you want to call your clone?
Err, Death Threat. Like I said, the one I think is slightly worse.
The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 2, Fight 4
Death Threat 0.1 vs. If Cats Had Wheels, We Could Have Cat Races, How Cool Would That Be
The first robot into the arena driven by Dan is Death Threat 0.1 who had a hard time against Shiny Happy People, by destroying it and placing it into the pit. Meanwhile Cats on Wheels driven by clone of Danny, who is called Death Threat, caused a shock and pitted Son of Ripper after taking on some serious damage, the word from the pit is that some of the armour damage hasn€™t been repaired, focusing on repairing the weapon and drive systems.
Both robots are in the arena, waiting for the green light
The Red Light is on
The Red and Amber Lights are on
And the green light is on
Activate
Cats with Wheels is away first, spinning the wheels as it heads towards Death Threat, Death Threat is getting ready to defend by turning on the tracks, as Danny hopes that the skirts on Death Threat are good enough to stop the wedge of Cats with Wheels from getting underneath, forcing both robots to meet head on with a bang.
The front end of Cats with Wheels is up the front wedge of Death Threat, and straight into the claws, which start to crush into the flipping wedge, pushing the titanium armour inwards with the force from the crushers, as Death Threat pushes Cats with Wheels, backwards into the pit release button. Clone of Danny is trying to free his robot from the claws of Death Threat, but the clawed machine turns and pushes Cats With Wheels towards the same place where it dumped Shiny Happy People, heading towards the pit, as a bang is heard as the armour gives way allowing the claws to crush into the soft inners of Cats with Wheels.
Death Threat holds Cats with Wheels over the edge of the pit and starts to redraw the claws, as Cats with Wheels drops 4 feet down into the pit.
Cease
Death Threat makes another smash and grab with the claws and moves into the quarter finals.
The next fight will be:
Hypertension Mk 3 vs. Baldur
Closely followed by:
Resonance Vs. BIACS-LE
So could I have tactics/predictions.
No, I lost, Oh well, I put up a good fight, well done Danny.
Wow, I won. Honestly I wasnt expecting that that, but Danny was a great opponent. I wish him luck next time.
Ram it and lift it til victory.
I really think I show more finesse in my tactics than anyone else I can think of.

Round 2, Fight 5
Half way though round 2 already, doesn€™t time fly when you€™re having fun, let€™s look who is up next:
*puts on some music from Newport€™s finest rappers*
Hypertension Mk 3 vs. Baldur
In round 1, Hypo 3, entered by Matt, flipped Acronyms out of the arena to move onto the 2nd round, where Baldur in the last battle of round 1 pitted Tira after taking some rather nasty damage to the front scoop. Both robots today have the same top speed, where Baldur has 4 wheel drive compared to Hypo who has 2 wheel drive, both are built like tanks, so it€™s going to be close

And both robots are away, both are crossing the arena heading towards each other, before both dodge each other before spinning around and coming back together, Hypo dodges Baldur€™s front end, Matt not wanting to risk a head-on clash with the rammer, where Alex doesn€™t want to go broad-side to Hypo due to the flipper being able to put an end the fight quickly.
Both robots spin around again, as Baldur puts on full power, Alex having his front wedge lowered in order to get under the front end of Hypo, as Matt dodges the advance, but Baldur spins around before Matt could launch a successful attack, as the front wedge of Baldur scoops underneath the front of Hypo, and lifts up the front wedge, but Hypo isn€™t allowing Baldur a clear path and is actually pushing back against Baldur, before Baldur overcomes the resistance and pushes Hypo backwards. Matt locks the right hand wheel and puts the left hand wheel into full power reverse spinning away from the front scoop of Baldur.
Alex spins around, but the front scoop hasn€™t lowered to its previous level as Hypo gets underneath and flips Baldur over, and gives chase to catch Baldur again. Alex€™s machine lands, but fails to dodge in time as Hypo slams in on the side, pushing Baldur towards the side wall, before pressing the flipper button sending Baldur over the fence, and straight into a randomly placed box, crushing the randomly placed box.
Cease
Baldur might be spinner proof, but it isn€™t flipper proof as Hypertension Mk 3 moves into the quarter finals, where it will face the winner of the battle of the axes.
But coming up next, it€™s the battle of the evil spinners:
BIACS-LE vs. Resonance
So any tactics from either Matt or Aaron?
Im going to skip to fight 7, because fight 6 needs some time to think about what would happen when 2 similar machines meet.
So Fight 7 will be:
Wedgas Revenge vs. Flick of the Wrist
And will be done in the next hour or so :)
Ill go for Wedga to win in that fight by getting under Flicks 1cm GC and toss him out.
The Killer Toad Tournament
Round 2, Fight 7
With fight 6 on hold until I work out a decent battle plan which could happen, here comes the 7th fight:
Wedga€™s Revenge vs. Flick of the Wrist
In round 1, Wedga€™s Revenge had a tough time getting some serious internal damage from The Giant Ball of Death before sending the Giant Ball of Death over the Giant Wall of Death onto the Giant Camera of Death. Andy has repaired 99% of the damage to the drive chain, which is good news. Also in round 1, Flick of the Wrist continued it€™s winning run after taking series 2 away by overpowering the 3rd seed Forklift 2 across the Giant Arena of Death, into the Giant Pit Release Button of Death and finally into the Giant Pit of Death. Sorry I will stop with the Giant Item of Death now.
Both robots are into the arena, it is the battle of the 4 wheel drive system against the 6 wheel drive system, the flipper against the rammer. The announcer begins to announce:

Flick of the Wrist is the first machine away, followed by Wedga€™s revenge, as both drivers are eyeing each other to see who makes the first move, before Martijn puts Flick of the Wrist into a forward drive and crosses the arena, heading straight towards Wedga€™s Revenge, the front forks are not down, as Martijn dives to the left at the last moment. Andy puts on full power, and tries to get underneath Flick of the Wrist, but Martijn€™s machine out accelerates and out turns Wedga€™s Revenge, as it spins back onto the attack.
Flick of the Wrist comes back onto Wedga€™s Revenge, and starts to do a large circle, Andy is turning Wedga around waiting for the right moment to launch into a flipping attack to get under that 1cm ground clearance and send Flick of the Wrist in the direction of the arena fence, but Flick of the Wrist breaks loose and drives towards the side of Wedga€™s Revenge, as Andy turns Wedga around, Flick of the Wrist turns as well, and there is a sound of metal as front spike of Flick of the Wrist introduces itself to the side of Wedga€™s Revenge as Martijn puts on full power pushing Wedga€™s Revenge across the arena, Andy is trying to do something but his robot can not overcome the friction by being pushed sideways to get away, as Flick of the Wrist slams Wedga€™s Revenge into the pit release button, knocking it clean off the wall, Wedga€™s Revenge bounces a bit, as Flick of the Wrist comes back.
However this time, Andy counter dodges Martijn€™s movements and manages to get Wedga€™s Revenge underneath Flick of the Wrist and turns towards the arena wall, as Flick of the Wrist puts on full power and drives up the wedge as the flipper fires, sending Flick of the Wrist over the rear of the machine and back towards the middle of the arena, as it lands doing a forward roll, before coming straight back onto the attack, dodging around the open pit, as Wedga€™s Revenge is getting ready for another attack, knowing the weakness of Martijn€™s machine, as Flick of the Wrist dodges to the right instead of the left, before quickly flicking the wrists to the left, Wedga€™s Revenge was turning to meet the right hand dodge as Flick of the Wrist slams into the sides and slams Wedga€™s Revenge into the pit wall again.
Wedga€™s Revenge bounces and lands, but Flick of the Wrist is on top of it straight away, slamming into the rear end and pushing Wedga€™s Revenge forward, missing the pit as Flick of the Wrist puts on some speed, as it slams Wedga€™s Revenge into the arena wall, and the front forks pierce the rear armour, as the forks are raised, lifting the rear end of Wedga€™s Revenge up, as something doesn€™t look right with Andy€™s machine, as there are no lights on. However Martijn hasn€™t noticed that, that shunt has knocked out Wedga€™s power safety link and gets ready for another run up having managed to reverse to get the forks out and shunts Wedga€™s Revenge into the opposite arena wall, making Wedga€™s Revenge jump around. But Flick of the Wrist isn€™t finished yet, as Martijn pushes Wedga€™s Revenge down into the pit.
Cease
Wedga€™s Revenge rammed so hard that it stops working as the shock rips though the safety systems killing the machine down, as Flick of the Wrist rams itself to victory.
Next time sees the return of Fight 6

Round 2, Fight 6
Resonance vs. BIACS-LE
In round 1, Resonance entered by Aaron got passed Tenderizers Revenge 2 on a healthy judge€™s decision, after Richard€™s machine refused to die. Unlike Disco-Tech which got knocked out by Bull in a China Shop, Limited Edition.
Both machines are pushes into the arena, before getting released from the safety cages, the 2 wheels on BIACS against the wheel pods of Resonance, The 25kg disc against the drum, as the ground technical people give the all clear and exit the arena, carrying all the various safety stuff.

Both robots start of gently, as both machines need to get the weapons up-to speed, the disc in the floating cage of Biacs, against the fixed drum with teeth. It appears that Aaron has added some little wedges to protect the wheels for this fight, how they will help against the disc of Biacs is let to be seen, as both machines are rolling towards each over, as Resonance turns to the left and Biacs turns to the right, as both machines turn away from each other, before spinning around to face each other.
Biacs puts on full power as both machines introduce themselves to each other with a mighty bang as disc meets drum as both robots jump backwards and as pieces of metal are flown into the air before landing, the little strips which protect the floating cage from crashing into the ground from Biacs and one of the large toothed strips from Resonance are on the ground, as both robots appear to be shaken up, as Biacs comes into with another attack, but this time aiming towards the wheel pods to try and rip away those protective wedges and cause some internal damage.
Resonance turns around avoiding Biacs from smashing into the wheel pod, but as weapon and weapon meets up again Resonance is pushed backwards as some of the cage on Biacs is ripped apart. Aaron puts on the power on the drum to get it spun up-to speed as Biacs spins up the disc, both weapons are undamaged, as Matt drives towards Resonance again, Aaron dodges the attack successfully, but Biacs is quick to turn and gets behind Resonance. Aaron knowing that he can€™t out-run Biacs tries to get away before turning to get the weapon spinning the right direction as Biacs slams at full force into the wheel pod sending Resonance end over end, and when you consider Resonance is nearly a metre wide, that is something, as Biacs comes back with another side slam onto the wheel pod as one of the wheel guards departs from the rest of the robot as Aaron turns and brings the drum into play.
Some more of the cage is destroyed by Resonance, as Matt makes a quick escape to get the disc up-to damaging speeds once more before Aaron can slam into the disc when it€™s at low speeds and cause some damage to the chain drive. Resonance gives chase as Biacs spins around and once more the weapons meet, the floating cage takes most of the damage by jumping up out of the way, and losing its skin, however that damage is nothing compared to Resonance, where the drum took the full force and has actually bent inwards where the blades hit, but that hasn€™t stopped Aaron as pieces of the arena floor as spun around, as Biacs comes in with another side attack. Resonance turns but so does Biacs as Matt€™s machine slams into the side of Resonance.
Oh my god, the side panel of Resonance€™s wheel pod has been ripped off, exposing the inners, the sheet of Hardox is undamaged, just that the bolts holding it into place took the damage and broke off. Aaron is looking worried, as he knows one more false move and he will be picking up parts of Resonance from all over the arena, as he turns from the defensive onto the offensive and drives towards Biacs. Matt turns and drives towards Resonance, dodging at the last moment to try and attack the side pod, but Aaron turns as well and slams the drum into the disc once more. With another mighty bang as a lot of sawdust comes from the area as Resonance with the drum spinning in the opposite direction slams the disc on Biacs straight into the arena floor, as Resonance drives away, as Biacs comes back, but the disc isn€™t spinning as a chain flies out of the disc protection pod, Matt isn€™t happy, and with 2 minutes left on the clock, he will have to dodge and dive against Resonance in the hope of getting the judge€™s decision.
Aaron suddenly on the sight of the chain is smiling, as he drives towards Biacs. Matt driving out of the way and trying to bring the floating cage into a slamming action on the exposed inners, as Resonance turns again, Biacs turns as well, but Aaron turns faster as the drum introduces itself to the wheel of Biacs, Aaron trying to knock out Biacs so that he can move on, and more importantly back to sleep. Biacs spins out of the way as the drum touches the wheel, pieces of aluminium are flown about, as Biacs drives away to get a good run at, as Resonance is right onto Biacs€™ back, and the arena wall is getting close, as Matt has to do something quick, as he locks the right hand wheel into reverse and the left hand wheel into forward spinning Biacs around and tries to escape, but Resonance cuts Biacs off and as the drummed machine slams into the weapon-less machine the minute alarm is sounded, another slam from Resonance, this time on the wheel hub, the drum at full torque, as Biacs tries to get away. Another bang is heard, this time from the outside where some farmers are shooting rabbits, but getting back to the battle.
Biacs has managed to escape, but something is wrong as it keeps on pulling rapidly to the right, the wheel where Resonance put its drum into. Resonance is right behind Biacs, as Matt puts on the drive, but Biacs pulls to the right again, as Resonance slams into the rear end, parts of the cage are spread across the arena, but Resonance isn€™t giving up and has another slam into the wheel, a bang is heard from Biacs and something flies up away from Biacs and strikes the arena camera before dropping down onto the camera tracks, as Resonance pulls away from Biacs and as the camera focuses onto the object, it appears to be the wheel, and so it is, as Biacs spins around on the spot, with only 1 wheel on the wagon. Spinning on the spot, as 20 seconds remain, as Aaron knows he has done enough he slows the drum on Resonance, as a loud grating noise sounds from Resonance as the drum is rubbing on something, it might be down to those dents caused by the disc of Biacs, but as the countdown starts to countdown towards 5 minutes, Biacs is spinning on the spot

Avarice (4) vs. Axe to Fall
The Killer Toad Tournament
The Round of 16, Fight 8 out of 8.
Axe to Fall vs. Avarice (4)
Yes, it is the final battle of the 2nd round, 7 of the 8 spots in the quarter finals have been taken up, and the arena has been repaired from the last fight, as both robots are pulled slowly into the arena, avoiding the wet paint.
In round 1, Axe to Fall looked like it was going out, being on the back foot for most of the battle, but one axing ram trapped Metal Super Spin Dash between the front wedge and the axe head as the Dutch Machine dumped the spinner into the pit after taking some damage. Where Avarice took control against Orka jumping out the way of attacks, and landing so many axe blows that the co2 ran out, but Orka just wouldn€™t die, and even though it ended the battle with more holes than a cheese grater, it lost on a judge€™s decision.
Both robots are ready; the axe arms have been greased and are ready for some slashing action.

And it is a slow start from both axe robots, both waiting as Axe to Fall drives away first, Avarice is ready to repeat the same tactics against Orka by dodging and diving away from Axe to Fall€™s attacks, getting around the side and planting the axe into the soft plastic body, as Martijn who has the metal bashing bar on the rear of Axe to Fall as a tribute to one of my corny jokes drives slowly towards Avarice, before going of in one large arc.
Avarice follows Axe to Fall by spinning on the spot, as the dance of doom continues for 20 or so seconds, before Axe to Fall puts on full power and jumps into life driving towards Avarice, Kody waits and dodges out of the way before the axe of Axe to Fall smashes down onto the Hardox top, as Avarice dances to the side of Axe to Fall and brings the axe down, not once, not twice, but 3 times ripping into the polycarbonate like it was made from paper, but Axe to Fall turns around and Avarice spins off away. Martijn gives chase, but once he gets close enough for the axe, Avarice just dances away.
Kody comes back onto the sides of Axe to Fall and brings the axe into the armour once more. Martijn pulls away from Avarice and using the higher speed gets away from danger before spinning around, sunlight shining though the holes in the top, as Axe to Fall holds back, waiting for Avarice to attack, knowing that aggression is a key area in the judge€™s decision as well as damage, as Axe to Fall reverses into the pit release button.
The pit drops slowly, as Axe to Fall drives away from the danger zone, and towards Avarice, as Kody spins his machine around ready to dodge, and does so as Axe to Fall ploughs on straight into empty space, Avarice spins around and knocks the axe into the top again as the side add-on curve is pulled away from the body and onto the ground as Axe to Fall pulls Avarice around, Kody releases the axe as the axe of Axe to Fall slams down, and almost hits Avarice, as Kody comes in with another attack, making another slice in the side armour and getting underneath with the front wedge, but Axe to Fall pulls again as Avarice spins around releasing the axe. Martijn turns quickly as Avarice dodges again, but Martijn turns again before Kody can get the axe in the side, as it hits the front wedge, pushing the polycarbonate behind it, as the axe on Axe to Fall slams down, into the top of Avarice as Axe to fall puts on some power getting underneath the front of Avarice as Kody fires the axe some more tearing into the body of Axe to Fall, but the axe of Axe to Fall is locked down as Martijn is heading towards the pit.
Axe to fall suddenly brakes near the edge of the pit sending Avarice up onto its arse before Axe to Fall with the axe redrawn slams Avarice down the bloody great hole.
Cease
Avarice fits Axe to Fall with some lovely air vents, but a dirty trick from Martijn sees Avarice on the front wedge and straight down the pit, as Axe to Fall moves onto the quarter finals, as the 4th seed goes out.
The draw for the quarter finals looks like this:
Hypertension Mk 3 Vs. Axe To Fall
Resonance Vs. Flick of the Wrist
Flyte Vs. Nitro-Gene 2 (2)
The May Tracks Have You (1) Vs. Death Threat
So any tic-tats, tactics, predictions, thoughts etc?
