Stu, I can take my laptop with HSDPA card along if that helps?
I am sorry i can not make the last meeting, i have a bad cold, Becky is going shopping in the morning and the robots are in bits! I hope 09 will prove a little easier.
The first will be hopefully Swindon in January i am looking forward to seeing you all there.
Good luck for tomorrow.
:)
Good Luck 2morrow everyone!
From Team Haggis-Bashers:)
So. Anyone got any results yet?
ripper won with help from team beast as he robbed our rubber mounts and he beat thz in the final
whirlpool won the feather final
Actually, Aftershock won the feathers :proud:
i always get them all mixed up hehe
So Ripper won the WT? Congradulations Jonno!
Ripper won looking forward to seeing that fight on the u-tube.
watched bits on the web cam looked like a good meeting wish i could have been there.
Congratulations Jonno.
:)
congratulations jonno at last ripper has done it. well deserved mate.
sorry dave envy just didnt want to perform and i will be in the shed sorting out that bloody cut out fault. thor took a battering but will be repaired and back in 2009.
a big thankyou for voting for me i am very flattered just wish i could have been at the last event of the year.
just 1 more big thankyou for to the roaming robots crew for a good year of roboteering and i hope 2009 will be just as good. keep up the good work mr stu you are a star.
I would like to say, on behalf of everyone who attended the event in the audience that it was very well done and well-presented (with the exception of Angelas dodgy microphone) and well done to everyone who fought that say - to Dantomkia, Iron-Awe, Terrorhurtz and Ripper, for all doing so well in the heavies and a big well done to Ripper Evo, and also to Aftershock (the rest of the audience was booing, but I was cheering :proud:)
The new arena looks good, and the re-entering rule works well.
A HUGE thanks to Leo Van Miert for allowing me to have a tour of the pits, and show off Wedgie and Obsidian to me.
Well done to the winners, comisserations to the losers, and good luck for next year
Well done Jonno and Ripper!
All the best everyone for 2009!
What was the tournament structure like? Well done winners!
was a good event, shame envy kept cutting out, it also turned of to the right quite alot on its own shane- i tryed ajusting the trims when i armed it up to help but it didnt make much difference. ah well.
well done jonno :)
Little john- you left your award in my car, ill drop it around at some point over the christmas hols
Well done Jonno, all the work paid off not only for Ripper but also for the quality of the shows, which has been excellent by all accounts :)
I have to also say many thanks to Shane for relaying the commentary of the start of the event second hand to me over MSN while I got half pictures on a dodgy webcam connection...all rather surreal but fun, shame Envy and Thor didnt do as well as was hoped but 2009 will be the year guys :)
btw- forgot to mension, thanks to jenny and geoff for fixing my hand lol. apreciated it. it was still bleeding thismorning lol
had a breakthrough this morning......the robot works fine when the flipper is up ...close the flipper and the cutting out starts so we know know its an interference problem. again sorry dave wish envy was ok for you.
Lewis, with there being 12 heavyweights the tournament structure was probably like this
Round 1
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
Quarter-Finals
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
Losers melee
robot vs robot vs robot
Semi-Finals
robot vs robot
robot vs robot
Play-Off
robot vs robot
Final
robot vs robot
For the featherweights, I think they were devided into 2 semi-final battles and the winners of both of them went into a final
It wasnt - it went something like this:
Round 1
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
Losers Melle:
robot vs. robot. vs. robot vs. robot vs. robot (2 go through)
Quarter-Finals
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
Semi-Finals
robot vs. robot
robot vs. robot
There wasnt a play-off for some reason.
Final
robot vs. robot
Thanks, I think the one you said Liam was the one they used in 2005?
Yes, and 2006 as well
ye dave i remembered earlier that i left it in your car - look after it :) will speak to u on msn about it
and ye the format was how paul said it - feathers i think all the people who qualified went straight into the final - PITA was unlucky as geoff got the front stuck down the side of the arena for a while so he lost some points he could have gained there
Having been there at 8 AM because the boys had to go and collect another roboteer before the show started, I had a nice opportunity to watch how the arena is set up. Hard work is very enjoyable when one gets to watch it from a comfortable chair !
I was very impressed with the lighting. All pictures came out excellent, except that the cage kept interfering with my focus. But it was the only spot I had where the polycarb wasnt too badly scratched and no robots had to be transported through. It strikes me as very funny that the only spot where no cage and no audience were the builders used what I guess was the oldest and scratchiest polycarb panel they had. :proud: A pity, because that spot would have been perfect.
The fights were awesome. You can see that the quality and reliability of the robots increases still. My appreciation to everyone, and my congratulations to the winners, for some truly impressive fights ! Pits atmosphere was cozy to say the least. And there were many very good-behaving kids in the audience.
Pictures will be up sometime this week, as soon as I can get them uploaded. But in order to whet your appetite... check out my profile for a piccie... were these cars it would have reached the evening news.
Cool picture, Flick was in action then, was he like Ziggy?

Mr Stu
Well done to the tour and award winners - judging was extremely difficult at times with some very close fights to call with the only disagreements coming from the judges themselves
Came away totally frustrated at Pillow Torque when it picked up exactly the same problem that plagued me at Reading last month and the fix only lasted for Nottingham
Dear Santa
A new astroflight please X
I have to agree with everyone else, it was a really great event. Congratulations to Jonno with Ripper Evo & Will with Aftershock for their wins. Also well done to the winners of the polls and a big thank-you to all those that voted for us.
Ian
Team Weird Alice
Just had a look at the event pics, looks good.
VERY big audience!
Good luck to everyone for 2009!
has anyone found the info about the roboteer poll winners on the RR web site yet. or am I jumping the gun!
:uhoh:
I cant find it either Craig dont worry!
btw, those pics look good Mr Stu, I think the RR winter tour just gets better and better! I cant wait to see what next year will be like!
yippppppppppeeeeeeee! ive finally won something with a heavy weight. !!
What a way to end 2008 with a fantastic show in maidstone. No body really knows just how many hours, and how much effort it takes to plan, an promote a show, and its nice when it pays off.
I must say thankyou once again to all the Roboteers and Crew for their support and hard work over the year. Without you our shows wouldnt be possible. it was lovely to see our foreign cousins again, I hope you manage to get an event together so we can head over the water and join you.
Well done to Aftershock in the featherweights, and the winners of the awards.
We had a substantial amount of votes which was fantastic, and well done to Stu for showing us again the cool stuff he can do with the new website !!
Again the cage proving a useful addition to the arena, tactics coming into the fights.
Im taking a few days away to take stock of things from 2008, and then work on 2009 begins very soon.

I asked my dad this morning if we can do the winter tour next year, and hes thining about it!
WOOHOO!
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Owen enjoyed pushing someone into the pit during one of the whiteboards (apologies to that team) During the drive home we were talking about the adaptations needed including lights.
Will - if you could see your dads reaction when you won, lets just say thank god he had a top on under his team t-shirt!!!! and his knees will never be the same.
Thanks again to all involved and MERRY CHRISTMAS
Yes sorry about that Debbie..not sure whats more painful the knees from the celebation slide or cramp suffered in thigh as result of said slide.
T-shirt over head again not agood idea..you were lucky had me vesty on !
End of a great year and I think the awards were really fun..should have been one for best pole dancer award for Clive.
Look forward to 2009...more LEDs to add to the team shock stable.
