Onslaught was / is 0.4m Tall x 0.5m Wide x 1m Long with a good 80% of its weight in a central lump approx 25cm x 50cm x 40cm.
So Tanto is smaller by a good margin.

NEW PICTURE!... BE SCARED!
:uhoh:
OH yes the picture is on my profile:)
Craig that looks just fantastic. I love it. when do we see it???????
I hope to run it at Burgess Hill but it will probably only be for White board fights, as its not quite battle ready. the problem is I only have one set of Spectrum radio and one speed controller between the two robots. so i would have to juggle things at the shows.
Good luck at Oldham win for baby Phoenix:proud:
thanks craig.
Been testing Saint Hammer (I think thats what we will call it)smashing up bits of wood to get some target practice in. :) I cant practice on the drive much more I think Ive cracked it!! :uhoh:
Im hopeful I will be able to run it at the week end should be a scream
ive found this website selling batteries what do people think?http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=979http://www.batteryspace.com/index.as...ROD&ProdID=979
Have a good read of the specs ...particularly the discharge rate and wire size.
Craig. 30 amps max for a pack.... I think I can show you what such a pack does in a high power 4WD 4 Graupner speed 900 driven FEATHER.

In other words, youll need at least 4 parallel in a heavy with a decent reduction gearing. And even then , even a good current limited speedo (like the current Sidewinder) will get those packs very very hothot.
Hi
Just thought I would give an update on the Big Wheeled robot,
Now named St Hammer.
The Hammer has had two outings now the first one was dogged with transmission failure this was due to me under estimating the forces on the final drive. Most of these failures have now been sorted, and the robot on its second trip out had no more problems. But I intend to strengthen these areas a little more to make the thing even more reliable.
The 3mm ARM steel has so far coped well with the collisions with only one dent!
The stub axle mounting bent when the Hammer was flipped out of the arena this took some straightening! I then re-enforced the areas with 3mm ARM steel in channel section, the stub axels are now secured through 9mm of ARM steel!
Now for the wheels themselves, I used 20€ bike tyres these have proved quite good, they are ripped to bits now, but the grip was amazing and I can get new ones for a tenner a pair. The wheels are made from 15mm UHMWPE this has proved a success, I may try some 12mm HDPE next, the reason is because I think a little more flex in the wheel may help save the stub axle problem from returning, and some robots with crushing weapons tends to put holes in the wheels and HDPE is weld able. So when the inevitable happens I can fix this.
The hubcaps work well to self-right the Hammer if it gets stuck,
The only disappointment is how hard I have found it to drive and deploy the weapon at the same time; this is not the fault of the robot but the driver!!!
Still the audience seem to like St Hammer, and so do team Bad Bolts.
:)
and so do team bud :)
I have just been testing out the robot and I found a fault with the control when the robot has been used for a little while the robot looses power on full left turn the robot stops moving if I go to 9/10 left on the stick the robot works it just has a dead patch there.
But only after a while first thing its ok and if I leave the robot then go back after a short while it is ok again I don€™t think it is a radio fault I think it is the speed controller not interpreting the signals correctly when it gets warm.
I have adjusted the travel on the aileron control the one in question, between 100% to 150% this has made no difference. The radio is spectrum DX6 and the controller is Sidewinder,
what do people think?
:uhoh:
I think youll find that there is a + AND - travel adjustment ...check that you have 100% on EACH .

Tried recalibrating the Sidewinder to the Spektrum stick range ..... http://www.robotpower.com/downloads/RobotPower_Sidewinder_quickstart.pdfhttp://www.robotpower.com/downloads/...quickstart.pdf
Page 2 Radio Calibration?
Id also check your batteries ...preferably under load....seeing as how your symptoms indicate that you might possibly have a combination of problems.
Thanks Woody I will check the items mentioned I dont think it is the batteries with an intermittent fault, as the problem when it starts to happen is repeatable. only on the left only on full travel. also I dont know what voltage the batteries are delivering under load but it is more than sufficient to spin the wheels on my drive, so I think the batteries are delivering the current required.
I was wondering with the Sidewinder they have a habit of running out of alignment when hot (one or both wheels will start to spin when the Tx is switched off) I was told by the guys at Sidewinder this is normal and part of the current limiting circuit.
But before I get technical! I will recalibrate the sidewinder just to make sure the fault is not that.
Thanks for your help:)
I have decided to make a sword for the saint 200mm long handle and 1000mm long blade!
:proud:
Also I€™ve decided to fit €œthe halo€ on the old saint, so it can run in the Rebel Robots bash in August. Are there going to be any other spinners for that one?:uhoh:
Tony Fowler (I think) has Carnage, and I suspect one or two of the RW spinners may come out of hiding if it is televised.
I wonder how spinners do against Plastic robots like Thz:crazy:
No Tony Booth has Carnage.
Spinners at Rebel Robots. Carnage, Scorpion, may be Warhead, hope a few of the RW spinners will turn up.
Ah, wrong Tony. :proud:
Not too keen on Warhead :uhoh:
has a UK robot stuffed it before.
No it has only been on battlebots i think.

Craig the batteries from batteryspace .com are not powerful enough I just cancelled my order after speaking with the company and double checking with them first before they processed, if you are after sla try the following I just paid $96 for odyssey 12v 13 AH pc535 from a place in Florida in UK works out to about 45 pounds UK. Though Im in Canada.the site is http://www.batterysales.comwww.batterysales.com
Hi just come back from the UK champs and the Sidewinder blew for no reason I could see I was just testing the function of the drive with no load on the cradle and BANG FIZZ!!! The thing stank and failed 15 minutes before I was due to fight in the first round. I have just taken the thing apart and the MOSFET has blown on the L/H drive the data on the unit is
IRFB 3027
604p
OK 9C
is it worth me trying to change this part myself, as the service for these things as mentioned on this forum dose not have the best record for reliability or cost.
What do you think?
:)
Hi Guys,
Due to numerous issues getting sidewinders repaired overseas, particularly with regard to shipping, James has taken the step of asking if I would become the UK repair centre for Sidewinders. I have accepted this task and thus life should now become much easier for roboteers who require repairs.
I have received several sidewinders which have been recovered from the states and formed a batch of faulty product due for repair. I would like to hear from anyone who has a sidewinder with James for repair and I will confirm with those individuals that I have their unit/s and when they will get repaired.
Anyone who has a unit which needs repair which they have not yet returned then please get in touch with me to arrange this. Please note that due to the backlog, and the fact Im very busy!, there will be a delay before I can complete your repair.
Roboteers will be responsible for all shipping costs incurred from this point forward, however James has very kindly covered the cost of the the two failed shipments to the states to make up for the inconvenience of the delay (and is very much out of pocket as a result). This means those of you with units already with James for repair will only need to pay for a UK shipment from me to you once the repair is complete. I will require payment for the cost of the repair and shipping to be received before I will send the units.
Before anyone asks, I do not repair any other controller types. If you have a broken Vantec, Roboteq or anything else dont ask me about it. I stopped repairing these owing to their unreliability and difficulty of repair. It simply isnt worth the effort most of the time!
I look forward to hearing from those of you with faulty sidewinders....
Best regards,
David Gamble.
Team Tornado.
craig
think we have blown one as well , could send them off together - there is a contact in the states who do them fast and at what i think is a cheap price - if dave is 2 busy
will have to check if it is actually the sidewinder which has blown 1st
Hi David
I have tried to email you about getting the sidewinder fixed but the address team@teamtornado.co.uk dose not work can you email me with instructions as to where I should send the unit for repair
Thanks

Hi guys,
Just to let you know that Robot Power, now have a new repair guy, his name is Rob, and provides a fantastic service.
I know dave is back logged with units, this is another option for you.
I sent two sidewinders to him in america, and after he recieved them, it took two days before they were ready to be sent back to me.
If anyone wants his email, let me know.
John
Hi just fitted a wotty 180 to St Hammer many thanks Ian, and just got the sword I promised myself for it, see you at Reading and possibly Nottingham.
:)
I was wondering if it is possible to buy something that can fit between the Spectrum radio receiver and the speed controller to reverse the signals remotely. Because of the way the saint works it dose not have a right way up! It has made it easier to control in the past with the spectrum as this feature was a standard fit on that speed controller. The wotty dose not have this feature and with my driving I need all the help I can get!
:uhoh:
Email Geoff Smith, i beleive he used something which reversed the channels remotly in the old Pillow torque, or current one, not sure.
Mr Stu
Thanks Mr Stu email sent
:)
After the 35 seconds it took to get out of the pit in Reading I€™ve decided BIGGER WHEELS are required so for the next event I hope to have the wheel dia up to just over 600mm instead of 500mm then I will see how long it takes!!!
:)
Just an update on the St Hammer mods.
Firstly I think the sword worked very well at Reading so I think I will keep that one going. you can see it on u-tube. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=soR0W5OQBm0http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=soR0W5OQBm0
I have finished one side of the drive conversion to ½€œ pitch chain i think this should stop the reliability problems that have plagued the robots first year. the Wotty180 worked well I lost a fight when the unit cut out on overheat, Jonno won instead JAM!!!!! still with a bit of cooling I should stop that in future. I will have a chat with Ian when i see him next for advice on this.
Just a question i am looking for a steel ball about 6-8Kg for a mace type weapon I think it will fit in the rules as a tethered weapon!
I love the He-man sword craig. By far my favorite.
Looking forward to seeing it again.
If your wotty 180 is struggling then try upgrading to a 360?
Im going to be nocking up a heavy from old parts and its starting to look a little like saint hammer. Sorry in advance. But I will just say I am paying homage to you, stinger and atiller the drum. :)
BY THE POWER OF GREY SKULL!!!!!!
360 wotty good idea!
Another robot like St Hammer, that would be great to have more of this type of robot we could have special fights.
if i can help please let me know.:)
