alonso won again
Yup, Alonso won again but it was horrible for the Brits, Button spinning on lap 10 and Coulthard finishing a dismal 11th. But while the F1 Brits were having a tough time, the GP2 Brits were having a good time.

But with the perfomance of the F1 Brits struggling at the moment, will Hamilton, Carroll or Conway step up to F1 and definately become a F1 champ of the future? Watch this space.
Great job by BMW to get both cars in the points.
Has anyone got the same opinion as me that Alonsos dominence is starting to get a bit boring?
I dunno but Brundle pointed out that one mistake from Alonso and its all back on Besides it was boring when Schuey dominated for 5 seasons.
Its that time of year in F1, yup, the silly season deciding where F1 drivers race with next year. It was opened early after Christmas last year by Alonsos shock move to McLaren. Heres the latest seats, Im not gonna put in any provisional names cause sometimes I can be wrong.
2007 Drivers Seats
Renault: Giancarlo Fisichella
McLaren: Fernando Alonso
Ferrari:
Toyota: Ralf Schumacher
Williams: Nico Rosberg (long term)
Honda: Jenson Button & Rubens Barrichello (Button in long term, Barrichello year-by-year basis)
Red Bull:
BMW: Nick Heidfeld

Toro Rosso:
Super Aguri:
Pretty sure DC will stay with Red Bull next year.
I agree. It was equally boring when Schumi was winning all the time.
Cant remember the programe as it was part of C5s motor morning (wed 1.00am - 6.am aprox).
But there was a race where lots of cars came off the track!!
Due to one putting oil down on the turn into a corner. I know F1 drivers try to get off line if they get a leak, but what if something like that happened at a track like Monaco or Montreal, and they couldnt get out of the way for some reason. Would be interesting!!
not seen that in f1 for a while, last time i saw multiple slide off was brazil a year or two ago, but that was rain not oil.
maybe it was gp2 you were waching?
Na, GP2 is shown either live on Eurosport or a week later on ITV1

ive a funny feeling jaques villeneuve will go very well today. dont ask me why, but high points, maybe even 4th or 5th? hell, even a podium if fisi and alonso take each other out.
am i the only one who thinks webber if far too overrated? excuses after excuses, whens he going to deliver this promise i keep hearing about? wouldnt be so bad but even newboy nico is killing him regularly. (regardless of nicos talent, webber has years of experience o him, he should not be so far behind all the time)
and when he does have a good day? how many times has webber run people off the track and crashed into others? i will be gutted if great drivers like anthony davidson and alex wurtz still cant get seats while empty promises like webber take up good seats and do noting with them
rant over
Interesting race. Marbles on the hairpin caused some action on the last few laps. My mum thinks that Truli should have his licence suspended as he seems to hold people up a lot. He is the Capt Slow of F1.

Some days (Mon-Fri & weekends) I wish people on motorways would get their licence suspended for holding others up. :) Come to think of it A & B roads as well!
In order for me to get to work in 1 hour I need to average 50mph. Doesnt sound much when 42 miles is motorway, 4 miles at 60mph, 2 miles at 50mph, and 2 miles at 30mph, should be easy. But with all the lane hoggers, site seers and rubberneckers its hard to weave in and out of them quick enough :)
Yup, F1 results

Next stop is the scene of the most farcical race of 2005 and all time, Indianapolis. Bernie Ecclestone recently claimed F1 can do without the USA. Question: Will F1 avoid lasts year shambolic 6-car parade. I hope so, race day on Sunday July 2nd on ITV1 at 5pm.
Forgot I past post no.1000

on one of the most farcical tracks. the infield is so mickey mouse it is a disgrace it is allowed to be used for F1.
Leguna Seca would get my vote for US GP
Yup and that is where MotoGP will be staged in 2 weeks time. But motorcycle racing aside (and World Cup too), here they are, better late then never, the US GP results.

Next stop, Magny Cours next weekend, yup in the middle of France but in terms of where in France, nowhere.
BIG F1 NEWS!! Juan Pablo Montoya has left F1, the Columbian announced on Sunday he was leaving for the NASCAR Nextel Cup in 2007 but after disscussions with boss Ron Dennis, a mutual agreement was made and Montoya split with the team to get in practice for his next stop in motorsport. McLaren test driver and former Arrows & Jaguar driver Pedro de la Rosa will replace Montoya for the rest of the season as of Magny Cours this weekend, de la Rosa hoping to convince McLaren to sign him as Alonsos team-mate for next season over fellow tester Gary Paffett and GP2 frontrunner Lewis Hamilton. So as Montoya heads back to the States where he made his name before racing in F1 (he tested in F1 before going to the States), heres a run down of Montoyas F1 career.

it would be nice if Lewis Hamilton progresses with this turn of events. Hes been groomed for a Mclaren role for years now, so it would be great to see JPM leaving giving Lewis a shot. Lets face it, JPM arriving is what set Jenson back for years, so maybe the overated, and frankly annoying columbian can help a british drivers career by leaving the sport.
I said it when he went to the states from F3/3000, and Ill say it again, montoya is a brute, and has no finese in his style at all. he is a dirty driver, and almost as overated as Webber, in my humble opinion. There are much better drivers ready to take his place, like Pedro, but for the longer term i hope Lewis is given a shot.

how about that banter between alonso and schumi? racing and overtaking in qualifying? if that becomes habit ill not bother watching the race, qualifying is more entertaining :)
Ha ha, cheers James. Yeah it was exciting to watch that sledging (cricket term for banter), gawd knows if theyll do that to each other next time out at Hockenheim.

Another great race & another Schuey win. Im thinking its a strong return of Schuey to championship winning strength. I found the race as exciting as the British Touring Cars at Donnington Park afterwards which had everything. But the BTCC just nailed it for excitement. More on that later.

More on my earlier statement on why the BTCC at Donnington was more exciting then the German GP. Im gonna take a rest.
i may have to rethink my comments about webber earlier on this thread.
he was awesome until he want bang.
Right, why was the BTCC at Donnington more exciting then yesterdays German GP? Well yesterdays races were filled with excitement, drama, controversy and mayhem.
Race 1
Richard Marsh sliding his 307, Turner spun by Collard
Race 2
Plato, Pinkney and Chilton ending up in the gravel trap after the Craner Curves & Eoin Murray fighting competitively in the midfield points positions in a old Alfa Romeo and Mike Jordans remark Its like Wacky Races
Race 3
The crash at the start involving 5 cars (most notably Hughes, Collard & Plato) which brought out the red flag, the showers, Eoin Murray in a podium place until he throws it into the gravel after Craner Curves during a short sharp shower, Matt Neal nearly following suit, Giovanardi briefly leading until the final chicane when he and Turkington cut the chicane together.
That was why I found yesterdays BTCC more exciting the German GP. Maybe I should cover the BTCC next year.
News
1 - Kubica is replacing Villeneuve for Hungary as apparently villeneuve not feeling great after crash in Germany.
2 - Webber being dropped by Williams for 2007 and being replaced by Wurz. So Rosberg and Wurz will drive for Williams in 2007.
3 - Strong rumours Raikkonen will partner schmacher at Ferrari for 2007 on equal footing.
Ferrari without team orders, doubt that very much.

A DQ is in the air........& thankfully its not Button. Ironically though its F1 debutant Kubica, his BMW Sauber was found to be 2kg underweight therefore his exclusion promotes Felipe Massa to 7th and Michael Schumacher, who retired with 3 laps to go, is given the final point. Heres the revised standings. Poor Kubica :uhoh:

alonso gets 2 second penalty.
schumacher copies him.
alonso retires.
schumacher copies him.
humm..... lol.
well done JB (great initials them)
maybe Kubica left more car in that tyre wall than he thought? dont forget he needed a new nose, so Im guessing thats where his 2kg went. Wonder what kimis mclaren weighed in at in the end :)
In all seriousness though, what was schuey doing? He should have pitted for slicks with everyone else, sure, hed have lost 30 seconds or so, but it cost him 4 seconds a lap for 18 laps (well, 15, he didnt do the last 3) and that collision in the end??? stupid!
Schumey is a hero of mine, but he can be so dumb sometimes, and deserves to loose all those points. He threw away 8 easy points today if you ask me, but hey, hes 7 times world champ, and I am watching it all from the sofa, so I guess he knows best :)
Yep, it was great to see Jenson finally on the top step of the podium at last. Anyway heres the GP2 results, also at the Hungaroring. Lewis Hamilton endured a tough 1st race finishing 10th from last on the grid.

BMW have terminated Villeneuves contract for the rest of the season by mutual consent. BMW said that after Hungary they wanted to evaluate options for next year (Kubica). Villeneuve was not happy with BMW showing no commitment towards him.
Big shame. So that means 2 of the biggest caracters in F1 are gone. Cant see JV getting a drive next year.
GO JENSON GO
Im absolutely against an engine development freeze and green image for F1 - it just doesnt work. Max Mosley should foff in my opinion.
I dont like the engine freeze either, it going against F1 being at the front of engine technology. However i do think F1 could be greener so i agree with that idea.
Mark Webber has agreed a deal to race for Red Bull next year, partnering David Coulthard in Adrian Neweys first fully designed Red Rull car.
Even though at the time I was supposed to be a fan of Jos Verstappen (being Dutch and all) I always thought that Pedro de la Rosa was the better driver of the two. That doesnt mean that Verstappen was a bad driver, not at all, but de la Rosa was just one step better as i see it.
So now that Pedro finally has a seat in a somewhat more competitive car, it will be nice to see how far het gets now.
Grand Prix Masters at Silverstone tommorrow. Yup, the masters series for the aged-over-45 ex-F1 drivers. Heres a run-down of the grid for the race (Sky Sports 2, 1300 UK time).
1: Christian Danner
2: Stefan Johansson
3: Derek Warwick
4: Riccardo Patrese
5: Jan Lammers
6: Eddie Cheever
7: Andrea de Cesaris
8: Emerson Fittipaldi
9: Hans Stuck
10: Eliseo Salazar
11: Patrick Tambay
12: Rene Arnoux
13: Nigel Mansell (Only driver not to set a time after hydraulics failure resulted in a 170mph spin)
But the old boys dont seem impressed by their McLaren Nicholson (no reletion to the McLaren F1 team) engines with 32 changes throughout the weekend. For goodness sakes, get a car manufacturer to provide the engines!!
The WRC was back in action this week in Germany & no prizes for guessing who won?

By the way, James, you know you said Kubicas 2kg loss was through the nose. It was actually running on the same tyres for 51 of the 70 laps.
