1ST IMPACT: Both robots were still mobile.
2ND IMPACT: 259 was definately moving, but Tornado wasnt.
3RD IMPACT: Both robots stopped moving.

Obviously, the War of Independence will feature robots from the American version of Robot Wars (well, obviously!). Although I will be using some robots who have been seen on UK television (via the World Championships), not all of them make that cut. However, the creator of one of those robots has posted some of the battles from Robot Wars Extreme Warriors, as well as Nickelodeon Robot Wars, that his robot/s competed in. The American robots, therefore, will either be robots shown in these videos or Americans who did show in the UK wars for a while. The videos youll want will be the first, third and sixth videos.

I must note, however, that although the line-up will be up after the UK bracket has finished, the US bracket will not be done until the second annihilator has been posted.
OK first battle in Round 2...
KAT 3 vs SPAWN AGAIN
Both robots looked fairly promising in their first round heats. Only one can go through to the final though.

And into the semi-finals for the UK bracket. Kat 3 immediately comes forward and slams the axe down, but misses hitting Spawn Again by a narrow margin. Spawn Again dodges and dances around the side of Kat 3, trying to get underneath. Both robots turn and twist...and turn again. A very active battle so far. Wheres Spawn Again going now? To the bottom left part of the arena? Thats where Dead Metal is though. Spawn Again wisely thinks twice and turns away. Kat 3 has followed...and now Spawn Again is underneath Kat 3 AND FLIPS IT OVER!! Were they luring the Kat 3 machine on, I wonder? Seems like it. Because Kat 3 is now on its side. It fires the axe, trying to self-right, but Spawn Again gets underneath and flips it upwards! Kat 3 is still in trouble. It does have trouble self-righting sometimes. Spawn Again appears to be preventing it from getting up, as it drives Kat 3 towards the arena wall, fires the flipper AND TOSSES THE KAT OUT! How many lives did that cat have? One...and its over!

Kat 3 better go back to hunting mice.

Pussycat does NOT want to be caught by that flywheel. Its an easy robot to fling around the arena, as 259 advances...but a good little dodge and away by Pussycat. Are they trying to lure 259 on the same way Spawn Again did? Im not too sure. Pussycat trying to dance around 259. However, the three digit number machine turns to face Pussycat, lunges forward, Pussycat dodges out of the way. It tries to make an onslaught, but again, 259 cuts the charge by charging itself. Another dodge from Pussycat. Im not entirely sure what Pussycat is trying to achieve here. Its dancing around 259, the two are making mock charges at each other but no further...ah, now Pussycat tries a charge in reverse! Interesting, if a little stupid. 259 again cuts them off, Pussycat makes a quick veer away...OH, WHAT WAS THAT!? ILL TELL YOU WHAT IT WAS...CUNNING! Lets see that again! Pussycat drives out of the way, to the side of 259. 259 turned and...NOW! Pussycat did its own turn and hit 259 on the side of the skirts. No damage apparant though, but Pussycat races away, waiting for 259 to follow. 259 spins around...its a threatening sight, thats for sure. 259 nows spins the other way. And back again. And back the other way again. And...oh, you get the idea now! I dont think that Adam Clark has full control over 259 anymore. Hes trying to work the controls, but I think youll find hes lost the ability to go left and thus drive in a straight line. Did a chain come off when Pussycat hit the skirts, or is one of those skirts now blocking the wheel? Either way, its another highly disapointing end for the 259 machine. Refbot, standing well back from the flywheel, begins the count. 259 can just look in defeat. Refbot reaches 10 and Matilda comes in for her own dirty work...FLYWHEELS COLLIDE!! And 259 came off worse! The flywheels belt has come off, and one of the supports seems to be broken now. Pussycat watches nearby, as Killalot comes in, picks up 259 and...where shall we take this machine...OK, out of the arena. Dump it there. Bye bye 259.

PUSSYCAT VS SPAWN AGAIN
And so, the final for the UK bracket. This is a grudge match. The two have fought each other twice before, with different results.
They first met in Series 3, with Pussycat fighting the Spawn teams first robot Scutters Revenge. They actually beat the Scutter machine, but were disqualified after using an illegal blade.
They then met in Robot Wars Extreme, in the Tag Team Terror. Despite a rocky start, Pussycat (with the help of Diotoir) defeated Spawn Again (and Comengetorix) when the new Spawn machine broke down.
Now they meet here. This should be interesting.

And were off. Spawn Again charges forward, as we know they will. Pussycat dodges away, trying, once more, to get around the side of Spawn Again. Spawn Again gives chase. It is faster than Pussycat, has generally been more consistant in how far it gets in the UK wars, even if Pussycat has gotten further. The two meet, and Spawn Again throws Pussycat through the air. Pussycat turns and tries to get the blade underneath the flipper, but only manages to nick the flipper plate. No real damage. Pussycat rushes off, Spawn Agains flipper can be deadly. Pussycat appears to be trying to lure it towards Mr Psycho. Spawn Again isnt that dumb, so Pussycat zooms forward again. Spawn Again fires the flipper, but Pussycat had already slid off...OH, WHAT WAS THAT!? Was that the...YES, SPAWN AGAINS FLIPPER VALVE HAS EXPLOED, YET AGAIN!! It mis-timed the flip, with disasterous consequences! Now Spawn Again has no weapon. Pussycat can attack now...or can it, as Spawn Again hits the pit release button. Is it trying to push Pussycat into the pit? Perhaps lure it in? Pussycat hits Spawn Again from behind. Spawn Again turns...but the valve is hanging out of the flipper and preventing it from closing properly, and even with Pussycats 10 centimetre ground clearance, its not low enough to get underneath. Now what is Spawn Again going to do?...HA HA HA! Theres your answer. Drive straight into the pit! They cant win, so they just give up. Oh well.

But, of course, Pussycat isnt out of the woods yet. It will still have to fight the winner of the American bracket later on. Before that though, the second annihilator.

Good fight, but as before Im still bewildered about Pussycat winning all its fights so far, and some of them he shouldnt have won at all. :S
Call it Pre-Planning. I often think fights through several times before writing them, before thinking up the most likely occurance. And I am liable to change my mind.
Expect the Second Annihilator soon.
After a long, long, looong pause, heres the second annihilator at last. I need to get inspired.
FROM NORTHAMPTONSHIRE; EWE 2
Previously entering with a robot called Lambsy, which has had limited success, Ewe 2 is a total ram in the pen. Its a rather compact robot, agile as well, it can push and has a nasty flipper just right for flipping robots over. It has a weakness though, in that there is no armour underneath it.
FROM NORTHAMPTONSHIRE; KAN OPENER
This robot has arguably the wierdest win-lose battle history of any robot. It has competed in three UK wars and lost all of them in the first round, yet it has also competed in two annihilators and won them both! Rather suspicious if you ask me. Kan Opener is another low-slung robot, bright yellow, invertible and boosting a pair of crushing jaws that have interchangable tips and more bite than a Great White. The ground clearance is low, which is good, but the armour I think could be thicker.
FROM CARDIFF: PANIC ATTACK
The winners of the second series of the wars, some would say Panic Attack is becoming old. Those more in the know would say it is still as persistant as ever. A low yellow box, Panic Attack is covered in real tough armour, difficult to puncture, skirts all around make it difficult to flip, and a set of powerful lifting spikes make it difficult to approach. All in all, a tough cookie, except that it has no srimech, and can be toppled.
FROM EAST TILBURY IN ESSEX; SPAWN AGAIN
No robot is faster than Spawn Again, even if they wanted to. This high wedge shape robot doesnt take any competitors lying down, it has a massive flipper that not only flips long, but high. In fact, it could probably go down as one of the largest flippers in the competition. It has a high success rate as well, being a semi finalist on four occasions. However, Spawn Again is well known for its reliability problems, so it may not be long until it dies...again.
FROM COLCHESTER IN ESSEX; THE STEEL AVENGER
A gleaming steel avenger is always a worry. This machine is well engineered and has always done decently well over the years. Covered in steel and polycarbonate, it boosts two weapons: A nasty and large axe and a rear flipper for surprise attacks. It has a srimech, but this can easily be damaged and has let it down in the past.
FROM EDINBURGH IN SCOTLAND; TYPHOON 2
THE ultimate robot, this machine won the 7th wars. Two lighter versions of this also won the middleweight (3 times) and lightweight championship, so success is nothing new for this machine. This robot could easily be described as a lampshade...except this lampshade has cutting teeth anc can spin at gyroscopic speeds. The robot itself is essentially top-secret military information, which oppodents fear more. Get a quick flip in though, and it could be over, the lampshade has no srimech!

And off goes the second annihilator, and what a way to start it, with the twice Annihilator champion Kan Opener, coming down to have a go at Steel Avenger, who hits the champion, but gets pinched for its troubles. Spawn Again is chasing after Typhoon 2, who is running away. It isnt spinning up to full speed as of yet. Panic Attack and Ewe 2 clash, and its Panic Attack getting underneath Ewe 2 first. Kan Opener slams Steel Avenger onto Panic Attack, who gets hit by the Avengers axe, and Ewe 2 escapes. Spawn Again is still chasing after Typhoon 2, who IS now spinning at its gyroscopic speed. Spawn Again, Id back away quickly...OH NO!! Typhoon hit Spawn Again with a full on frontal slam, and the flipper blade of Spawn Again has broken off completely! Spawn Again, to put it simply, are now weaponless. Spawn Again retreats. Kan Opener, meanwhile, has discarded Steel Avenger and is trying to attack Ewe 2. Ewe 2 fires its flipper and flips Kan Opener over, but of course, Kan Opener is invertible. Panic Attack comes in on the annihilator champion...OH, WHAT WAS THAT!? THAT WAS TYPHOON 2!! SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF PANIC ATTACK, AND TEARING THE REAR SKIRT CLEAN OFF!! Now THAT could be a problem!! When Typhoon reaches that speed, problems will occur. Steel Avenger rushes off, but Ewe 2 doesnt...OH, SHARDS OF METAL GO FLYING!! Panels have come flying off Ewe 2 there. That could cause some problems for later. Meanwhile, Steel Avenger is hitting Panic Attack with its axe...wheres Spawn Again in all of this? THERE is your answer, slammed into the pit release by Kan Opener. Spawn Again moves away, but it isnt moving freely at all. Typhoon comes in with ANOTHER hit, and knocks Spawn Again senseless!! Ewe 2 also comes in, but travels right into the claws of Kan Opener, which close. Ewe 2 is dragged towards the pit...BUT TYPHOON GETS ANOTHER HIT IN!! MORE SHARDS FLY OFF!! Some from Ewe 2, some from Kan Opener. Kan Openers claws open and try to get away. Forget about Ewe 2 for now. It NEEDS to get away from Typhoon 2, THATS the worry. Meanwhile, this leaves Ewe 2 and Spawn Again both on the edge of the pi and both apparantly immobile! That bashing from the Series 7 champion has obviously done something serious. Neither are moving. Who was immobilised first? Refbot is coming in to count them out, but who is he counting? Im not sure. 4...5...6...7...OH, SPAWN AGAIN SUDDENLY SPRINGS INTO LIFE!! In reverse, it slams Ewe 2 into the pit and follows through! That last spasm of energy has barely saved it.

It wont do now. Pussycat crashed out of the annihilator competition ages ago, and Typhoon certainly isnt American.

The good thing is that Revolutionist is very much like Typhoon 2 in terms of weaponary. If IT ends up winning the American segment, it may beat Pussycat. Then again, it may not. It may not even win the segment.

Well, Im afraid that poor old Spawn Again is so battered and damaged from Round 1 that its had to drop out. Therefore, Kan Opener, Panic Attack, Steel Avenger and Typhoon 2 will have to continue without him. However, who exactly is still fit to fight, especially with Typhoon 2 in the arena?

And so, off we go once again. Kan Opener, straight away, heading in Typhoon 2s direction, trying to get to it before the whirling lampshade spins up. However, Typhoon sensed that was what was going to happen and gets out of the way. Hardly surprising, considering the team. It now leaves Panic Attack room to get underneath, and lift up, Kan Opener slightly. Steel Avenger hits the top of Panic Attack as well. Wheres Typhoon whilst this is going on...right behind Steel Avenger...OH MY GOODNESS!! DID YOU SEE THAT!? Well, of course you didnt, if you can, then you can either read minds or youre very wierd. What happened was that Typhoon, spinning wildly, whacked right into the back of Steel Avenger. In doing this, not only was Steel Avenger spun around, but the flipper was also buckled right upwards. Theres a huge gash in it, and in the armour as well. Now the Avenger is just down to the axe, I believe. I dont see them being able to use that flipper anymore. Meanwhile, Panic Attack is still lifting up Kan Opener. Typhoon is still behind it...AND TEARS THE REAR SKIRT OFF!! Oh dear. Kan Opener drives away, only to get hit by Steel Avengers axe. Panic Attack now comes in, gets the forklift underneath Steel Avenger, and throws it over! Now, can it right itself? I dont think its going to, Im afraid. Not without that flipper, to which the srimech is connected. Panic Attack activates the pit release button now. Kan Opener thinks Steel Avenger is going out, but decides to wait. All three victorious robots pause, to allow Refbot to come in and count out Steel Avenger. Shame, it looked good in Round 1, but itll go no further here. 8...9...10! Its out. Kan Opener has one more drive, and shoves Steel Avenger into the pit.

Can ANYONE take out Typhoon 2? Well, its started to spin, and this is the weak stage. If anyone can get to it before it spins up, it could be in trouble. Kan Opener and Panic Attack are chasing it down. A little pincer attack here, and it makes you wonder how long Typhoon can run for. It runs away from Kan Opener...ooh, quickly behind Shunt there. Get away! He does so, but right into Panic Attack...OH, BUT ANOTHER GOOD HIT!! Sorry Panic Attack, but Typhoon was spinning at full speed there, so that is not going to work. But now its slowed down...and Kan Opener suddenly grabs Typhoon 2!! This was the pincer attack I warned you about! And now Kan Opener is penetrating the shell of Typhoon! They concentrated too much on attacking power for Typhoon, and left little for defence...and speaking of attacking, wheres Panic Attack? Wheres Panic Attack!? THERES Panic Attack!! Getting attacked by Shunt! It is NOT moving freely! A small jolt here and there, but it appears to be rooted to the spot! It had a similar problem in the semi-final of Series 5, and its happened again here! Refbot is not happy...And what a shock!! Hes counting Panic Attack out of the annihilator!! Kan Opener, perhaps in shock, has now released Typhoon 2! I did not expect this! Refbot reaches 10, and Panic Attack is out. Shunt pushes him where?...the arena floor flipper. Lets see some air time for the Attack. THERE IT GOES!! Panic Attack goes flying...over and out, and that is a shame.

And off we go. Kan Opener is desperate to win its third annihilator running, and immediately charges at Typhoon...OH, AND MAKES A PUNCTURE!! ONE OF THE CLAWS HAS MADE A MARK ON TYPHOONS BODY!! Now the reigning UK champion could be in massive trouble!! The claws close, and poor old Typhoon 2 cant do a thing. Kan Opener takes the spinning lampshade towards Dead Metal, who brings his saw down. A small scratch is made on the shell, nothing more. Kan Opener gets bored of this, and pulls Typhoon 2 away, there is nothing the air cadets can do here. Kan Opener backs into the pit release, and takes Typhoon 2 to the pit. It tries to shake it off....no, not yet...still Typhoon wont budge...I think it may be that Kan Openers claws are not functioning properly...OH, and Kan Openers said To heck with this! Ill just drive in myself!! Both robots in the pit, but its obvious to me who the winner is.

WAR OF INDEPENDANCE PART 2: U.S.A BRACKET
Now, the robots competing here will probably be unfamiliar to a lot of you, but just bear with me. I have analysed them AMAP.
Anyway, LET THE WARS BEGIN!!
BATTLE 1
FROM NEW YORK; BASENJI
A pretty vicious State-side competitor, and no wonder. The name Basenji comes from the name of an Egyptian breed of domestic dog, which was a very efficient hunter. This Basenji is no different, except that, instead of fur, it has a titanium and aluminium coat. I like that, I like the fact that its invertable, I like the wedge at the front and the six-inch hole saw at the back, but I DONT like the exposed wheels.
FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS; BUNNY ATTACK
Stick your hunting gun down a rabbit hole these days, and look what pops its 200 pound bulk out. This double-wedge shaped rabbit would have Elmer Fudd screaming for mercy, with four wheel drive and an 8lb sledgehammer on top, just for a little extra hop to it. Hes also got a nice bit of fur lining, which, of course, is a fur brained scheme, when there are flame jets all over the arena. Lets hope this Were-Rabbit doesnt suffer a meltdown.

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
And off we go for the first round of the American bracket! The Basenji against the Bunny, and Basenji charges head on into Bunny Attack, the bunny saved by its fairly lowish ground clearance. The hammer, though, is taking its time coming down. Basenji backs away, and comes in on another frontal charge, pushing Bunny Attack into the side grinders. That wont do the fur much good. It wont do Basenjis hole saw much good either, which is probably why the two keep meeting head on...but no, Bunny Attack is away. Hes the heavier of the two machines, by 16lbs. Trying to veer away, but Basenji catches him again, this time at an angle! Basenji pushes Bunny Attack away, maybe aiming towards the flame pit...now THAT would be cool! But the charge just deflected Bunny Attack away. Now Bunny Attack comes on a side ram, down comes the sledgehammer...HA!! That was pathetic!! The sledgehammer, not only lethargic, but came down with hardly a bash! 8LBS!? Youre having a laugh!! Its 8mgs, Im sure! Certainly, its not going to work against Basenji. There could be a little insect on there and it wouldnt do anything! But no, Bunny Attack reverses out of danger, back into the centre of the arena. The sledgehammer is still down...and it slams into the side of Basenji! And I wonder, perhaps theyre trying to use the sledgehammer to break off those exposed wheels. The wheels of Basenji are not only exposed, theyre flimsy. VERY flimsy! Basenji tries to dart away...and just about manages!! That was a relief. The wheels are OK. Now Basenji tries for another head on collition with Bunny Attack. It succeeds! And he pushes the Bunny...right into Sir Killalot!! And the master of mayhem picks up Bunny Attack effortlessly, ripping some fur in the process! Hes obviously fed up with the way Bunny Attack is performing! Now wheres Basenji...ah, activating the pit! Maybe hes bored as well. Killalot drops Bunny Attack eventually, on its wheels, but very close to the pit. Basenji gives it a nudge...AND A WHEEL HOVERS OVER THE EDGE!! Its now riding on two wheels, very delicatly! Go on Basenji, put him out of his misery...there we go. Basenji shoves Bunny Attack back into its burrow, and saves it from a possibly more violent death.

MINI-UPDATE
I thought Id let you guys know that Im also intending to have yet ANOTHER event take part in RWE...the Mayhem. You may remember it from Extreme series 1. During this Show, there will be 7 mayhems.
-Three of the mayhems will be between three robots. Only one will survive and go through. Go through to what?
-The Fourth mayhem, of course. This mayhem is between the 3 winners. The winner of this wins the Mayhem tournament.
-The other three mayhems are special battles, sort of the equivilant to what Series 7 had.

I wont reveal the line-up, but I will say that the 9 robots in the main Mayhem event did, in fact, do something similar within one of the UK series. The other three specials may actually be fairly obvious, if you think about it.
OK, were back with the American machines once again.
FROM COLORADO; DISKOTEK
Wanna little boogie? This guy doesnt. Diskotek, created by Team Robot-Dojo, is a pretty nasty piece of work. Vaguely similar to the UK machine Tornado, Diskotek is a four wheel drive invertable machine with two weapons...a spinning blade at the front and a wedge shape at the back, so it can do damage no matter what. Its fairly fast, but it isnt very durable, and has not been very successful as a result.
FROM VIRGINIA; MANTA
A former semi-finalist in both the American Robot Wars AND the second world championship, if you can beat this robot, you know youre doing something right. Manta doesnt take kindly to anyone in its path. Six wheel driven, Manta charges at oppodents and frightening speeds, then buffets them either with the front cutting blade or the rear sting, causing either maximum damage or a shove halfway across the arena. Highly aggresive, it isnt as heavy as some of the other machines, and could be pushed about too easily.

HOUSE ROBOTS: Dead Metal and Sir Killalot
3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
In theory, Manta should win. And almost straight away, it charges head-on with Diskotek! The two are similar in terms of weaponary, but Manta is far stronger, and he slams Diskotek right into the arena wall. Diskotek buffets up, but comes back down on its wheels again. It trundles out of the way, turns to get the blade in on Manta again...but no, Manta doesnt seem to care about the blade at all, and slams Diskotek all the way down the length of the arena...right into the CPZ...occupied by Sir Killalot!! He gets those claws around Diskoteks body...AND CRUMPLES THE TOP ARMOUR PLATING AS IF IT WERE PAPER!! Ouch!! That can not be good for Diskoteks plastic surgery. Dont ask me how I know about it, I just do. Anyway, now Killalot is parading Diskotek around the arena. He enjoys doing that for some reason. OK, now hes bored, so he puts Diskotek down. Manta waits for movement from Diskotek, but it doesnt come. Diskotek, I think, is immobilised, and after what Killalot did to him, I dont blame him. Manta gives him a few more nudges...right underneath the drop zone! All it needs is for Refbot to count him out...and hes doing that now. Poor old Diskotek never stood a chance. 8. 9. 10! Diskotek is out. Now the drop zone can do its worse...the box opens...and out fly a load of balls!! Right onto Diskotek. And a load of balls...sort of sums up Diskoteks performance. Dont ask.

And who says the only tough girl in the wars is Matilda? Rosie The Riveter is not a robot to mess with...I mean, how many other robots can take on Matilda, Shunt AND Sir Killalot...AND live!? Rosie may not have the most aggresive name, but she does have an aggresive nature, with her four-wheel drive and front wedge, which contains a belt-driven saw blade. The back has two blades which act as wedge killers and Rosie is also invertable. I dont like the look of her wheel casing though...
FROM OHIO; SPARTACUS 2
Roman around the arena floor is this nasty beast of a machine, which competed in the third world championship. Its a fairly bulky machine, looking a lot like a Roman helmet and it incorporates a front wedge and a grabbing jaw, just perfect for crushing and grabbing its oppodents. It cant self-right reliably, and the armour is a little flimsy.

3...2...1...ACTIVATE!!
Spartacus is by far the slower of these two robots, as it moves away for the first onslaught, but is beaten to it be Rosie the Riveter, who gets her front wedge underneath Spartacus high side ground clearance. That is a problem for them. The saw blade of Rosie the Riveter is no doubt causing some more problems. A slam against the arena wall causes even more! Poor Spartacus cant really do anything at the moment. Rosie backs away, but before Spartacus can go anywhere, she charges in again, this time using her wedge-killer. This lifts Spartacus off the ground slightly. Rosie darts away again, and now pushes Spartacus towards what appears to be a vacant CPZ. Spartacus, you need to get away, because Matilda is coming for you...OH, BUT HE DIDNT LISTEN!! AND HES PAID THE PRICE!! MATILDA SLAMMED FLYWHEEL FIRST INTO SPARTACUS, AND TORE THE HELMET CLEAN OFF!! So we now have a naked Roman soldier. None to pleasent. Rosie, meanwhile, has hit the pit release. Spartacus is moving away, slowly, but right by the edge. Rosie is waiting. We know whats coming...yep. Down the pit for you, Spartacus.

Just when you thought you couldnt get any wierder...THIS shows up! What is the world coming to? Techno Trousers is certainly of unique design, looking moreorless like a pair of trousers. Its main weapon is a hydraulic lance which sticks out of the trouser legs. The team claim that its main strength is that it Looks good. Its main weakness is that it is not really that strongly constructed.
FROM FLORIDA; THE REVOLUTIONIST
Now THIS is a killing machine! Full bodied spinners are big in America, and this shows it. The whole body, decorated in the infamous stars and stripes, spins round at phenominal speeds, and the whole body is made out of steel...in fact, the robot was, in testing, driven at full speed into a concrete wall (why would anyone want to do THAT?) and suffered no damage whatsoever. Practically invincible when at full speed, it has no srimech, and when the weapon is stalled, any flipper has an easy target.

And once again, were off. Techno Trousers advances, but The Revolutionist moves away. Probably buying some time whilst their body gets up to speed. And look at that! Immediately, the body is spinning so fast, that the stars and stripes are now a blur. Now lets see what happens. Revolutionist charges into Techno Trousers...WOAH, COMPLETE WIPEOUT!! That blow sent Techno Trousers spinning an entire 360 degree circle! Thats the power of Revolutionist! Techno Trousers...what? Is that it? Is it giving up after only one slam? I think thats completely immobilised Techno Trousers! Refbot comes in and gives it a nudge. But theres no movement. Refbot, of course, isnt rational, and just counts out Techno Trousers anyway. 8, 9, 10! Techno Trousers is out. And Sir Killalot comes in to pluck up Techno Trousers. You have to understand, of course, that the House Robots are neutral in all of this. They dont care whether a British or American robot win. As long as they get to smash the losers up, its OK with them. You also have to understand that Killalot doesnt wear the trousers in the House Robot family. Thats Matildas job. So he wont be having a use for Techno Trousers, as he puts him on the flipper. Oh dear, Im suddenly getting nasty thoughts in my head concerning Matilda. But Techno Trousers goes flying, right out of the competition.

And were off...and straight away, Manta SLAMS into the wedge of Basenji! But that gives it some problems, as it gets caught on the wedge. Basenji starts to push it back, but Manta is at an awkward angle on Basenjis wedge, and eventually falls off. Manta charges away like a little stealth bomber, charging towards Basenjis front again...but swerves, it has other plans...A SIDE SLAM!! It hit Basenji full on in the mid-rift, and poor Basenji is being shoved sideways across the arena...AND THEIR WHEELS HAVE BROKEN OFF!! You heard that right! The pushing force of Manta broke Basenjis left hand wheels clean off! Now poor old Basenji is surely nothing but a whimpering puppy. What can he do? Apparantly nothing, as Matilda comes in, itching for some destruction. Of course, Refbot has to count him out first. And here it goes...
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10!!!
And thats Basenji out! Matilda comes in with her flywheel...And Basenji goes FLYING head over heels!! That has got to hurt! The saws come off again, but Manta is quite happily celebrating this easy victory.

And again, our two American beauties face off. Strange I call them beauties, but they are to a degree. Anyway, Rosie The Riveter charges forward, and does briefly get underneath The Revolutionist, who does need time to get spinning to its full potential. Of course, Rosie can now take him where she wants...but in fact, the slowly spinning body actually deflects Revolutionist off Rosies wedge. And Rosie fails to see The Revolutionist rushing away. She turns, but now The Revolutionist is getting up to speed! And now its in its customary blur of doom! Whirling so fast that the patterning on top is impossible to see! Does Rosie dare try to hit now?...YES! AND SHE PAID THE PRICE!! Her front wedge now has a massive gash in it!! That gives you an idea of how powerful The Revolutionist really is. Now Rosie is...running away. And why not? But Revolutionist follows...AND HITS HER SIDE! AND A WHEEL GUARD HAS BROKEN LOOSE!! I mentioned right at the start of the bracket that her wheel guards were exposed. Now poor old Rosie appears to be limping, as Revolutionist comes in again...AND TEARS A WHEEL OFF!! Theres three wheels on Rosies wagon, and she aint rollin along, Im afraid. Shes ground to a halt after that monster attack by Revolutionist. The powers gone, consumed by the power of Revolutionist. Sir Killalot is itching to come out, but he has to wait for Refbot to count her out first.

And its over! Revolutionist will go through to face Manta in the final of the US bracket. Sir Killalot effortlessly picks Rosie up and holds her aloft for a while. Hes not going to let her off too easily. A little parade, and he places Rosie on the floor flipper.

AND ROSIE GOES FLYING!! The wheel guard breaks off completely now, and poor old Rosie The Riveter is in no mood for any more.

And so the final begins! Manta charges out straight away to make contact with the Revolutionist. CRASH!! The blow completely disorientated the poor Revolutionist, making it a little bit off balance. Manta reverses, backing in with the rear ramming point. It, again, deflects The Revolutionist, but not by as much. The Revolutionist backs away and starts to spin up, but at only 15mph, its beaten AGAIN, by Mantas 20mph. This time, Manta SLAMS The Revolutionist right into Cassius Chrome!! The body of the full body spinner is knocked upwards onto the front bulldozer of our boxing beast. Cassius Chrome slams The Revolutionist into the arena wall, but thankfully fails to tip it over. He does, however, pummel the underbelly of Revolutionist a few times, as Manta watches...but now hes let The Revolutionist go! The Revolutionist escapes back to the centre of the arena, but Manta quickly rushes forward to stop him from spinning...another drive towards a CPZ! This time, its occupied by Matilda...OH, AND WHAT A BLOW!! Manta drove The Revolutionist onto Matildas flywheel and poor old Revy paid the price! He was sent flying over Mantas head, and now hes upside down in a heap! And I would have thought there would be very little he could do now. Manta activates the pit release, and the pit desends. Refbot comes in...but Manta beats him to it, by shunting Revolutionist right into the pit. Bye bye. Dont come back.

And off we go. UK vs USA. The two robots are different in shape, but both have cutting blades. Pussycat straight away goes for a dodge, but Manta clips the cat side on! But...no, Pussycat just veers away as a result of that. Manta SLAMS into the arena wall, turns and has another go. But, again, no. Pussycat is deflected. I think the awkward shape of Pussycat is preventing Manta from pushing it successfully. If it could get to the back, itd have more luck. But, of course, this now allows Pussycat to come onto the attack!! Hang on. Was there damage? I dont think there was. Either the armour plating of Manta is too tough OR the body is too low for the blade to have good effect. Manta, again, tries to push Pussycat, again at the wrong angle...and I think we have a problem. Neither robot can actually effectively do anything to the other robot. I assume thats without charging head on at one another, as they try for their attacks again...but no. No damage caused again for either parties. I assume they dont actually want to attack front on at the risk of damaging themselves, but...boys, this is getting boring! If you want to impress us, youll need to do a head on attack sooner rather than later! Oh, but are they now lining up now for a head-on? Yes, they are, Manta charges...but Pussycat reverses! A dummy run. Come on, youve got to do something...OH!! HEAD ON COLLISION!! AND MANTA IS, AT LAST, PUSHING PUSSYCAT BACK AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT!! But, at the same time, the two blades have locked and only Pussycats appears to be active! Now THEY are causing damage to Manta! And at last, the War of Independance is getting somewhere! But still, Manta is driving Pussycat backwards...towards Matilda! Both robots enter the fringe of the CPZ that allows Matilda to attack BOTH machines! She gets her tusks in between the two robots. She raises them. Pussycat falls off them, Manta is briefly stuck...BUT PUSSYCAT GETS UNDERNEATH MANTA!! And the saw starts grinding at the underbelly of the Manta machine! Guys, need I remind you, youre still in the CPZ. Again, Matilda gives them a nudge. Now Pussycat and Manta are free again. However, instead of running back to the centre of the arena, Pussycat reverses straight into the corner of the CPZ itself! That could leave it in major trouble if Matilda decides to bring in her flywheel. Instead, shes tusked the cat again, perhaps trying to lever it out of the arena. And whilst Pussycat, instead of running back to the centre of the arena, has smashed into the corner, Manta, instead of running back to the centre of the arena...is sitting idle. Whats happened to Manta? Manta is not moving! Theres aggetation in the control pod! Pussycat is in its own problems...OH, AND MATILDA CAUGHT THEM WITH THE FLYWHEEL ON THE BACKSIDE...RIGHT ON THE BACKSIDE!! PUSSYCAT BOUNCES ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE WALL, lucky to stay inside, but with a MASSIVE gash! Now Matilda goes back for Manta. Is Manta moving? I really dont think it is! Did that attack by Pussycat do something to the wheels, the drive or something. Certainly, Matilda is lurking. Pussycat isnt moving, but I think it has just won the War of Independance. And yes, Refbot IS counting down and out Manta!

And its over! The Manta ray of hope for the U.S has come to nothing and the U.K, once more, have won the War of Independance...this time with Pussycat. Even though it isnt in a great state. And now Matilda can finish Manta off. Flywheel first...AND MANTA GOES FLYING! Panels come flying off and Manta is upside down. Growler, meanwhile, has grabbed hold of the front of the wounded victor Pussycat. He slams the cat into the pit release. Matilda is already moving Manta towards the pit. Down goes Manta...and Growler drops Pussycat in anyway. Oh well.

I would just like to take this oppotunity to say that the fight was completely unbiased. I really didnt see any possible way that either robot could effectively out-do the other without charging head on, and in the end had to look at their other aspects.

OK, here we go. The first round of Annihilator 3...after over an ENTIRE MONTH!!
ROUND 1
FROM CAMBRIDGE; DISCO INFERNO
Wanna dance? In the robot wars arena, its the dance of death! Disc-O-Inferno quickly went from pathetic slob to killer machine very quickly, and so did peoples opinions of it. Hexagonal in shape, the front horizontal flywheel spins at about 1000 rpm, causing damage to just about anything it can. It could be almost unbeatable, but it has a high ground clearance and is vulnerable to fire.
FROM SOUTHAMPTON; JACKSON WALLOP
The team previously entered with a machine called Attila The Drum, which competed in an annihilator and came third. Jackson Wallop is a little unorthodox, but it gets the job done. The small body boosts in proportion the largest flywheel of any robot, and the largest the rules allow. Even if the teeth dont catch you, taking one look at the psychadelic design could easily make an oppodent feel queasy. The wheels are exposed though, and it has no srimech.
FROM WORCHESTER; REVENGE OF TROUBLE AND STRIFE
Hmm, doesnt revenge taste sweet? Revenge of Trouble and Strife has a long name, but the battle stratergy is nice and simple...KILL! The main weapon is a flipper, but the outer rim of the robot spins and has a couple of cutting teeth, which in essance makes the armour a weapon as well. Only problem, the robot is petrol driven, which can be a pain to have in any robot.
FROM STAFFORDSHIRE; RIPPER
You dont want to get on the wrong side of this machine. Ripper The Flipper, as it is also known, is one nasty piece of work. Cleverly designed, the robot may look big, but the machine itself is actually rather small, so puncture the armour, and you may well just be hitting thin air. Oh, and need I mention the powerful, and big, flipper on the front? I warn you, this robot takes on house robots and lives! It isnt exactly flipper proof though.
FROM NORWICH; THERMIDOR 2
This robot often feels crabby on occasions, but it is still a strong machine to contend with. The bright red robot has two wheels from a Mini Metro, claws designed for shunting and a powerful flipper with two gas bottles. It was the first ever robot to flip more than one robot out of the arena in the same match, and has only been equaled on a few occasions. A semi-finalist in two wars, watch out for it...and watch for that fragile shell. Hmm...
FROM BELMONT IN HERIFORDSHIRE; X-TERMINATOR
Will it Exterminate...Exterminate...the opposition here? Coming fourth in the 7th series of Robot Wars, it may well do. X-Terminator is a large robot with a formidable weapon, a very large front flywheel capable of tearing fellow robots apart in the blink of an eye. It is compact as well, and hard to damage. However, it is slow at 9mph, and although it has a srimech to get it off of its side, the back is unprotected, and any flipper to get it on there could win the match.

3 spinners against 3 flippers. And immediately, the flippers appear to be after the spinners. Revenge of Trouble and Strife makes a move to attack Disco Inferno, whos blade is already up to speed...OUCH!! The disc hits the outer rotating body of Revenge of Trouble and Strife and leaves a MASSIVE gash in it! Not only that, but I think that part has stalled! Ripper, meanwhile, is having a go at Jackson Wallop, whilst Thermidor is after X-Terminator. Thermidor tries to flip, but misses, and X-Terminator hits one of Thermidors claws...AND SLICES IT CLEAN IN TWO!! Ouch! Meanwhile, Ripper lifts Jackson Wallop off the ground, but the blade is still spinning, and that only deflects Jackson Wallop away from trouble. Now Disco Inferno is having a go at Ripper, so Ripper decides maybe it better go and attack...X-Terminator? Are they mad? Well, X-Terminator is chasing after Revenge of Trouble and Strife, closely pursuded by Thermidor 2...Ripper gets a lift up at the back, not flipping it over, but that has allowed Thermidor to get underneath...and it throws X-Terminator over...ONTO ITS BACK!! And that is TERRIBLE NEWS for X-Terminator. Ha ha, look at it! X-Terminator is trying to run on its blade, but its not a tactic thats going to work for it. Revenge of Trouble and Strife, meanwhile, is having a go at Jackson Wallop. The huge psychadelic design looks a bit giddy, but Revenge of Trouble and Strife manages to lift up Jackson Wallop. One of the teeth gets caught in the floor. Meanwhile, Ripper and Thermidor 2 are trying to team up against Disco Inferno, but as the blade hits Rippers armour, it literally ripples! Meanwhile, Refbot has a look at X-Terminator. It clearly isnt moving, and Refbot is counting it out.
