as ever - no problem for me
What ever location is chosen is fine by me. I have to drive to both either of them so its not a problem.
Mike.
Right, shall we say the tavern again, 7.00pm, saturday 17th?
Ill drop in and try to make some arrangements re. space & tables etc for up to 30 as soon as the venue/date is confirmed
Woah!! Slow down guys (and girls)!
Maybe we ought to see what John Reason has to say, after all he is the SE Regional Chairman and as such is responsible for organising these events.
I have no problem if anyone wants to go for a beer at Saltdean on the 17th, but I understand that John was thinking of a venue in Kent for the next official social.
(Note to John..Suggest somewhere quick, or you could end up with a mutiny on your hands :) )
People, I know that this is a huge pain in the ar5e but I wont be able to make that date and neither will Jon Reason. It is Daniels 18th birthday party.
Can you lot please please pretty please try and arrange to change this to another date.
Sorry about that.
Mike.
Grrr. :)
Hmm, ok. The following day is the east anglia meeting which I know affects Andrew. Most of the other weekends for weeks to come have events. I can do weeknight but I know thats not ideal. It looks like it could be sunday, thats assuming yours and jons liver are both still functioning.
Perhaps sunday then?
Eddy
P.S Happy 18th :)
Ill probably be knackered on the 17th anyway - graduation ceremony a.m. kids birthday party p.m. phew!
Have a great day Daniel - now can can legally do what youve been doing for the last 5 years or so :)
Folks, I will have a look at the calendar tonight to see if I can come up with a date thats to everyones liking!
Theres nothing to stop you guys getting together for a beer anyway if ya wanna!
Also, I will see if theres somewhere that doesnt take 2 1/2 hrs to get to! Though we could have a Sunday lunch meeting instead...? Id then be able to get home before the Peugeot turns into a pumpkin!
TTFN
Jon.
Mkay. To clarify/restate my situation: I cant do the weekend of the 24th/25th at all; I cant - for obvious reasons - do this weekend, and Sunday 18th is the East Anglian meeting (although if the time of day doesnt clash I dont mind commuting between the two).
I dont have a problem with week nights: Brighton is actually closer to my work place than home is; Kent (being much closer to home, at least until I move next month) is obviously even better.
Of course, if people want to go with the Sunday, we could always gatecrash the East Anglia group meeting en masse. Who wants a lift? :-)
If theres still an unofficial gathering on the 17th Im on for it, but Ill await Jons suggestion with baited calendar.

Hmmm.... anyone going to Wales on the 1st-3rd May?
Ill look into a place for the weekend of 1st if that ok with everyone. At the last meeting Geoff suggested somewhere in the vicinity of Tun Wells. I think theres a suitable pub just off the A21 at Southborough if everyones ok with that?
As previously stated, if you guys want to get together for a beer or two at an unoffical meeting thats fine! Just dont expect a piece of paper on the table with FRA written on it!
Anyhoos, let me know what you reckon on the suggestion.

Jon.
Its OK by me but wont Geoff be going to that event?
3-dayer anyone?
Jon, I know that Geoff is going to Wales, but I should be available, so I have no problem. Just let us know the where and when.
If that is a problem for anyone else the only other weekend in May that I think should be free, would be the 15th/16th. Geoff has quite a diary of when events are.:)
Good - we can both gang up on that Lambert fella - you know the one I mean :)
poor Daniel, what has he done to upset you?
Ekim
Its his dad thats the problem :)
1st is okay by me. FWIW, the East Anglian group are talking about an afternoon meeting on the 18th - Ive just put out feelers regarding the finishing time, in case this means that the evening might be a possibility (I dont mind a drive between the two, even if its one of the longer pub crawls Ill have done...)
If no-one can do the 18th anyway, Ill stop pondering it.
Does anyone want to be unofficial on the 17th in addition to the 1st (presumably)? Ill turn up if its happening, but life and soul of the party Im not.
Hmm, Southborough is actually quite near me (although it wont be once Ive moved nearer work.)

Im happy to do an unnoffical on the 17th. All you lucky people can tell me what i missed from debs (which unfortunatelly I cant go to!).
Ill be at Debenham with camera (and camera-toting friends). If anyone would like a CD (or few, knowing us and if I dont get the chance to edit it) full of JPEGs, let me know and Ill try to bring them along.

That would be v. much appreciated Andrew.
I wont be able to goto the next meeting when ever it is, had a nasty accident involving a pheasent, another car, a bridge, a hedge and my car. You can sort of put it all together. Just to say my car is a right off!! :( So ill see what i can do about getting my new car.

Ouch.
a) Are you okay?
b) Would a FRA social make you feel better?
c) Do you want to try scrounging a lift?
Mustnt let these things get in the way. Its not like you dont know a lot of people who are handy with a welder...
Hope you got to eat the pheasant, at least!

Cmon Jas..... did you really hit a pheasant in Tescos car park? Its a wonder you didnt end up in the river.
Hope youre OK
Right, just to confirm- an informal/non-official meet on sat 17th. Do we have an alternative location or will it be the tavern again?
Eddy
Sat 17th fine, Tavern fine.
Excellent, should be grand. See you all there!
Is this still on?
I assume so. Show of hands?
Yep, Jen and I will be there to see fair play :)
P.S. Has anyone invited the Lambert dude(s)?? If not, thats your Job Karoline!! :proud:
Ill see if I can get in touch and ask but as Mike said earlier its Daniels 18th birthday party so its highly unlikely that theyll be there.
Eeeeeer hang on a minute......why me?
Ooops, my fault, I forgot the birthday boy! Dont hassel the poor old fella. Well just get him on the next one!!:)
Why you?..easy..because as FRA deputy reagional chairman I said so!! (Its called pulling rank:proud:)
Also, youve got the really *nasty* spinner to back you up. (Speak softly, carry a big LEM).
I hope to be there, hectic commitments permitting.

And as youre now FRA Chairman I have to obey or else :)
Congratulations - IMHO the best candidate got the job but I get the feeling - what with that Lambert fella n all - that I mix with all the wrong people :proud:
Good to meet up with everyone (eventually; Ill bring a map next time), and thanks to Eddy for the discussions. I never did ask what you were saying, when you said youd been discussing me before I turned up... (Paranoid? Moi?)
See you at the next one, hopefully a bit nearer to the official start time. :-)

Good to see you again Andrew. We were talking about your climbing antics at Debenham and wondering if you were going to turn up when you walked through the door. That was a good photo of Scorpion/Behemoth. Sorry Geoff, Jenny and myself coulnt stay as Jen and I had both been suffering lately with flu/stomach bug/everything else that can be thrown at us. Anyway the delights of PCM is a bit beyond me at the moment although I can wax lyrical about sampling rates and quantization.
:-) No problem, Karoline. If its the flu that I had at Debenham which everyones picked up - sorry! Ive now got the CDs of pictures sorted (as the East Anglian region people discovered), so Ill bring them next time and you can see whether my clambering was worthwhile. And Im used to people running away when I talk obscure technical stuff - Ive been coding up a first order temporal logic satisfiability checker for a friend, and its amazing how quickly people have something else to do...
By the way, one of the pictures shows someone lurking behind Geoff in the pits who looked cross to be photographed. I know my fellow photographers got grumbled at a bit, so if that was the source, my apologies to whoevers in the picture. (I probably should have told them not to fire a flash in anyones face while theyre using tools, but I hoped they had the sense...)

Hi guys and gals, have just had an e-mail from Jon Reason and he has asked me to post the details of next weekends social. :)
Venue- The Saltdean Tavern
Date - Saturday 1st May
Time - 6.00- 6.30 ish
A little earlier I know.
Please could we have a show of hands to who is coming. I know that it is short notice, but I hope to see some of you there.
Im game for that
Oh dear, thought we were aiming for somewhere closer to (my) home this time.
Id like to be there. Ill try to be there. Im moving house (to Bracknell) next Thursday, so its possible my other half will lynch me if I stop packing; if she decides I deserve a break, I *will* be there. I might not make 6:30, but Ill try to do better than 8pm (Ill bring a map this time). :-)
Assuming I can cope, whod like a CD of Debenham pictures? If you were there, youre on it (and if you werent there, you can see what happened!)
Jenny: Could I possibly bring you a tape on to which to append a copy of the Wilsons Day stuff, having no duplication facilities myself? How long is it (A2B)?
