One of our flippers goes the right way too :proud:
Why only have one when you can have two instead. Best of both worlds you see :)

LOL!
Can i vote for a 1v1 Grudge Match?
Mr Stu
Looks like we have a grudge match... has been noted, and worked into the format :)
Anything would be great for the raffle, even alchohol, although can€™t guarantee any alcohol finding its way to the prize table past the pits though.
But seriously, we are in a great position to raise some good money for charity, old bits of robot, we can get those signed, posters, ermm what else...
We are throwing in,
2 x remote control robot wars Growlers,
Some bits of arena signed wood
A chance to drive some remote control cars, against the feather weight flippers of this world.
And some other bits n bobs.
Going to be a slight format change, away from the norm just an experiment.
While we will still be running the white board fights, for our €œ friendly €œ competition, where trophies are always up for grabs.
I plan to make each robot fight 1 random picked fight in each session. To compete for the trophies, you must take part in this slightly more formalised regime.
Open for suggestions, and comments, but this has come from a few comments from roboteers.
Jonno
grudge match hmm..... merlin Vs Mute with a hangover!
we have some posters you can have and may be able to find some old robot bits.

Dont forget Merlin Vs Big Nipper Vs Mute. Sounds like a sheifield re-match then. Seems as though even if mute are in the pit they can still cause Merlin to lose :).
Ill try and dig out the old jaw that Razor crushed in Series 5 if you want it for the raffle.
are ants running?
Yes im bringing an arena, and there are a few coming.
Trucks loaded, few bits n bobs to sort, and the fun begins.
Jonno
You going to let Mute run on your new floor Jonno.
Went to the 3pm show, and it was EXCELLENT! Every fight was great! The Robot Suicide melee (9 heavyweights and 2 featherweights) might have been better if a lot of the robots hadnt died so quickly, but I guess thats what going to happen if you put that many robots in such a small arena!
mmm, wish id went
Best event yet, Congrats to Jonno and the team,
and to Richards comment that a lot died quickly, it was the last fight of the day, good to see so many still running after a hard days event.
great event.
well done Velocoripper. well done Air for putting the first robot through the arena roof, poor Cutlet!
Well get a report up soon.
Walks off singing...... We Will, We Will, ROCK YOU
Got to agree with all the comments and i sang that all the bl!!dy way home :)
mmm, some people... lol
Was a great event and a great job done by RR guys and crew at Preston Guild Hall.
another great event, a great venue and roaming robots team did a great job. some brillant driving from big nipper in the melee, i loved the way they stacked every one up neatly in the pit. air did well for a try out went much better than me and bud thought and a great fight with revolution and the big yellow bot (sorry for the dents) well donr jonno.
No problem Jason, it was great fun. I was deligted to still be running after the end of two fights. Good work by all the organisers and staff.
I also thought it was a great event. A marvelous venue, very well organised and enthusiastically supported by the crowd (even after Mute had managed to stop the show again :)).
We managed to win a bout for the first time (which we were quite pleased about :proud:) and then were the first to enter the pit in the melee (which we were less pleased about ) but thats normal.
Thanks very much to Jonno and the crew.
highlight of the day cutlet,I was nearly on the floor in tears of laughter:)
2nd best highlight of the day was Tom Ross new perm!! :) Its not unusual.....
(check my profile to check it out he! he!!)
I think I need a new camera as well as a new flipper - all mine came out badly. If anyone has any pictures or videos they can share that would be great.
Rob You Bas***d!:)
Yes I really enjoyed today ,,was dead pleased with Chips lifter and we didnt break down!!..
Great crowd with Mexican waves, and plenty of foam hands etc.
Well done to the RR crew for another great show.
Finally an explanation of the perm:)...
In 1978 when I was British Gas apprentice I had a perm as a bet..it then stuck and I continued to have it permed for a further 23 years! My wife (a hairdresser) continued to do it but after many years of statements like..You are the only man I know who has a perm and, You are a 70s throwback I went to the barbers and had a No 1 cut.
Since I joined Rob in Team Chip it was always the No1 or No2 cut and none of the new roboteer mates I have made have seen me otherwise....hence the re perm now for a laugh....I will now let it grow out and it will never be seen again:)...will still have it at Enginuity though!
Just thought an explanation was needed.
Tom
I thought Tom was going to give us a song :)
Good show for the public, hope cutlet is ok what with Air flipping it and slamming into it a few times, oh wait that bit was us, dont think we crushed it too much when we picked it up :)
Had a good test with our new feather as well even if weve gone through 4 motors.
Only 2 bad points though that i feel must be mentioned. One is the space in the pits, struggled to do anything on those small tables. The other is in the second session, no one new what was going on. Every 10 minutes fights were being moved & canceled. I was ready to leave at one point but in the end glad that we stayed for the melee. It would have been better just to have a meeting before hand telling everyone how the fights were going to be organised.
Jonno, I thought you said you had a working pit :)
Sam, hope youre ok and have a speedy recovery. (Those that dont know what happened dont jump to conclusions)
I was at the 12:00 show and thought it was a great event. It was good to finally see some of the bots and the arena in person. Good performance by all concerned and well worth attending.

Just a postscript to Marks working pit comment. Did anyone else think that the floor flipper was less powerful than at Aberystwyth?
Jonno and the team - well done I thought it was one of the best venues so far and that goes for both Roboteers and audience - who at times threatened to engulf the MC and arena hazard control area! Never thought I would be scared of little kids but there were so many of them and all so exited!!
Im alright.. though a little sore to say the least!
Thanks for the thought.
I was pretty impressed with this event I must say, its undoubtedly the best Ive seen from the point of view of presentation, well done to the RR crew for keeping things moving forward!
Looking forward to seeing you lot battle it out at Enginuity.. Im expecting a cracking year :)
Sam
Nice slippers Sam. In seriousness though, glad youre ok.
Fantasic venue, there was one point, when I was waiting to put my biscuit tin into the arena (not a man hole cover or bin lid, its a custom milled industrial biscuit tin!) that I had a minute to look up, and on 3 sides of me there were hundreds of people clapping to we will rock you, with the lights going and the music blaring. It was awesome!
Congrats to roaming robots, crowd wise, that was better than robot wars. seriously.
Ill echo the more info on fights thing, just because I only entered one all day not understanding how the competition worked and was forced to go in the 9 heavy 2 feather suicide fight. (loved it really) next time Nipper!! Ill av ya!
Cutlets fine.although a little Air_sick!
Sorry Jonno, timing could have been better. But at least we have learnt something about these new nasty big flippers!
Just to echo what James said The crowd atmosphere really was better than RW!
Great event!
Oh , I didnt mention the perfprmance of my All New EWE2! .....best left unsaid!
Ian
EWE2 will be back (and working!)
Oh and by the way. Did anyone find any Titanium sheet lying around as they left? I was given a large piece of very thin stuff, by a very nice man with a perm! (no names OK). When i got home it wasnt there  Anyone find anything please let me know.
Ian
Well thats two great events ive missed this year !
Spent most of sunday driving Stiff Breeze around the livingroom (between coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose...ugh!).Its not quite the same on your own .
Roll on saturday
Hehe kewl - cya this Saturday at FWSmash 2004 then Gord.
Cant wait to see your new bot in action mate.
Mr Stu
What more can be added,
We wimped out and died in melee - uncharged batteries from fight with Thor - which if I do say so was a very pleasurable experience being that I left with all motors intact.
Presentation and atmosphere was incredible, truly reminicent of RW.
Titanium - Anyone find any..., no-one is that honest.
Whiteboard - Echo - was very confused - every five minutes we were in a different fight - kept putting different things on the robot and taking them off again. First time though - and I think new format will be better.
Trophies - WOW
In short - Not a bad day out at all.
Roger.
Happy Dude with working motors.
Well done guys...an exellent event, sorry about the floor Jonno! (all Mutes fault, honest, they started it!) But great fun with a kid from the audience driving Scorpion.
Just one gripe, the whiteboard, I dont think confused quite covers it, Try total farce! (sorry but it had to be said!)
Hi Guys,
Firstly I want to say a big thankyou for the kind generosity for the charity raffle, you did us all proud. Hundreds of pounds going to local charities.
We have now just about hit the mark, from how I saw Roaming Robots developing as far as the presentation goes, when I dreamed up RR.
Once again, steps forward and our best event yet.
An M8 bolt / nut coming loose stopped the pit, which I am very gutted about, as I was confident it was going to work all day. But I couldn€™t tell until we pulled the arena apart and had it working perfectly again.
There was some confusion over the fighting order.
Basically we were experimenting with running random fights, rather than a scrap to get your names down on the white board, for several reasons€¦
€ We now run a slightly more formal ( Friendly Competition ), and especially at Preston, with some very smart Trophies.
€ To encourage robots to fight different robots rather than certain robots only fighting each other.
€ To allow every robot an equal chance of getting in the arena.
Although I am hearing some grumbles, on the whole I think it worked well allowing each robot chance to charge and repair.
I don€™t understand how there can be confusion, when we picked all of the fights for both sessions randomly.
The main problem ( I think ) being that roboteers filled the white board over lunch, which was removed and a new random fight order put on for that show, hence people feeling they had been removed.
Any comments or suggestions, please contact me so we can get things clarified.
All in all a great event again.
Jonno
We will€¦ we will€¦ rock you !!!!
one thing i think might be useful is to put a maximum no. of robots for the featherweight fights. For the heavies it says max 3 per fight and i think the feathers should be limited to 6 or 7 to a whiteboard fight, just a suggestion so any featherweight builders who love the 10 way fights dont go mad at me. I just dont like getting fights split into 2 and ending up not fighting the people you really want.
Joe Townsend
To be honest, i think its time i dug out the feather weight arena from our barn, dust off the cobwebs, and split feather weights with pay to drive (when it returns), seperate to the main arena as a seperate attraction.
So you get play time in a feather arena, and run league serious fights in the main one.
Theres just toooooooooo many now!!
Jonno
