Debenham 10th/11th April 2004
last years Debenham was my first and i through that was good but not a patch on this years.
Congrats to all the winners and to Roaming Robots for keeping the event running so smoothly.
I suppose Roy and Eddy have to retire to the potting shed at some time :)

Although we were not competing this year, I would like to thank Eddy & Roy not just for this year but for the past years as well. Their contribution to establishing live events in the UK will always be remembered. Maybe we will see them on the circuit with Prizephita in the future.

Yep, good words there Paul. Im disappointed that we couldnt make it this year, especially as it turns out to have been the last one. Well done Eddy and Roy for all your hard work.

What another Great event. The first time for us here at Debenham and hope someone still puts that Arena to good use in the future. Well done to Barbaric Response for one off if not the best fight weve had and hope theres not too many holes :).
Geoff, pitty our planned fight did not happen but we will have that fight one day soon.

Totally agree Mark,
An exellent weekend, well done Eddy and Roy.
As you say, we WILL do this one day, just make sure that impact plate is well keyed into its mounting. I would hate to see a piece of Ti that thick leave sideways at high speed!:proud:

As the strange bloke up in the lift thing with a camera, can I add my thanks to Roy and Eddy (especially for going out of their way so much to help me), and congratulate the roboteers on such a great event - especially the Big Nipper team for their results.
I also want to say sorry to anyone bothered by my colleagues (or me!) on the Sunday; they were there to take photos with me, but I wasnt able to keep them on quite such a tight leash as Id intended, so if they (or I) got in anyones way in the pits then you have my sincere apologies.
Anyhoo, I think I got some decent photos (as far as its possible to tell before having the chance to download them). If anyone would like a CD full, please let me know - Ill bring some to the socials anyway. Not that Im a pro photographer, before anyone gets excited.
Heres hoping that this isnt the last Easter Robot Rumble, and that someone can take the arena off Roy and Eddys hands (and that we see the new Prizephita on the circuit).

It was this event last year that finally got me off my backside to build a bot for the kids (ahem! and me), and this year, here we were fighting in a full combat Featherweight competition! My son, Josh got us through to the second round with Crystal Blue, which has now been re-named Crystal BLACK as its held together with miles of gaffer tape (Thanks Joe).
All in all, we had a great time. Many thanks to Eddy and Roy, and everyone else involed in staging the event.
PS I still think theres an opportunity for someone to run a similar event next year!!

Guys,
Dont worry, i feel there will be an event next year. And in its current form.
People are in discussions.

A bit belatedly, glad to hear it, Jonno! (I saw you talking to Roy and Eddie while I was waiting for them to let me down off the lift, so I was hopeful that you saw something happening...)
Big hand for Lakeside, by the way - my sympathy for the lack of sleep!
And Bob: congratulations for Crystal Blues performance - good to see it in action!

Hi Guys,
I dont know if anyone is still looking into this area of comment, but I expect someone will pick up what I say and good news travels fast! The Easter Robot Rumble is already rising from the ashes. We are in the final stages of sorting out arrangements with Geoff (the Rumble commentator) and Dave (the man who provides all the lighting and audio) for them to take responsibility for the Arena etc and to run next years Rumble with a bit of help from Roy and I, to ensure continuity of quality. After all the nice things you guys have said, it mustnt be allowed to die and now it wont. So note the Easter Robot Rumble on Easter Saturday and Sunday 2005. Actual dates for Easter 2005 are not yet published (they are different every year. I know that Geoff & Dave want to team up with Jonno and Roaming Robots again to ensure the event draws the same praise as it has done in the past. It will probably move down the road about ten miles to Ipswich. There is a much bigger population there to ensure audience sizes and Geoff has particular links with a High School that has a Sports Hall about twice as big as Debenham (Square instead of Rectangular). Making more room for audiences and Pits. Obviously details are not being published about the event until later this year, but the date is sound. Roy and I look forward then to meeting up again at Easter 2005 with all our Roboteer friends and hopefully with plenty of time to chat. More info in due course.

Im very glad to hear this Eddy! You and Roy have done a great job year after year, and the Debenham Robot Rumble has always been a highpoint in the roboteering calendar. I hope that the two of you will now have the time to resurrect Prizephita and turn up as competitors again!

Now that is good news, long may it continue.
