Spectrum setup

getting somewhere now woody, swapped wires on one motor, it now drives fine, all controls are going in the right direction. what seems to be happening now is though when you press forward the RIGHT motor starts moving alot sooner than the other. when you press reverse the LEFT motor starts first, so when your driving forward or reverse its pulling one way quite bad and wont go straight. its really bad at full speed. wondered if altering trims would do anything but didnt seem to make much difference.

Run through the speed controller setup again.

cheers Kane, they are electronize 15amp, their is 2 holes with a screw in, one is for full speed and the other is marked l,v,h. both controllers are currently set full clockwise (the max), i dont alter these, should i turn one down or something?

Yes ...Try altering the steering trim.

I initially do it like this.

Lift the bots wheels off the floor ....then ( leaving the sticks alone ) trim the forward/reverse direction till one wheel just rotates ... ok.. now use the steering trim till the other wheel matches ..I.E. Both just rotating....
Finally trim back the forward /reverse to neutral.

You should note the trim number just in case you wish to programme it in.

cheers guys, will try this evening and let you know.. one other thing i was thinking about, this robot is invertible and its my daughters. when she had a go at driving small torque i think it was called, if she got flipped she flicked a switch on the transmitter and it reversed all the controls, so even though it was upside down everything worked as normal (instead of being back to front) is it possible to do this with a spektrum.

It is a trick that amongst others Sidewinders have. with the flip channel on a TX switch, you can change forward/reverse so it drives the same upside down. Left/right does not change (doesnt need to).

btw, this trick can be done simply on skysport 4s by making the servo reverse switch at te bottom stick out so you can reverse that channel on the fly. on a Spektrum you would need to go into the program, which is not handy while driving. :)
