Yeah, I always figured if one died, one of the others could use that as a shield against a spinner. Itd be difficult if it got flung into a wall, but probably a legitimate strategy for some spinners.
TTTWT should be the god of melee matches though.

Today in the final qualifier Heat of the PTT season, last year€™s runner-up returns to the arena - our No.2 seed, SpunOut 3.0. Although a newcomer last time around, SpunOut€™s mighty traction and powerful spinning disc gave it all the bite of a hard-toothed veteran. Ramming its way into the Final, the only thing that could stop SpunOut€™s race to the title was the arena wall...or, more specifically, the arm of The Business Ends propping it against the arena wall! :proud: However, the No.2 seed is back for that championship crown and is looking forward to getting some practice on two equally vicious newcomers - Charybdis, the disc-clad walker, and the unique 5-way cluster that is The Team That Wasn€™t There.
Also today, we welcome back former UK runner-up and our No.18 seed, Bigger Brother. Although not quite as successful here than in the British Wars, the fearsome flipperbot still maintains a solid track record, reaching its Heat Final in both previous PTTs, wherein it was KOed by other Brit legend Hypno Disc...and SpunOut! Now in its Series 6 incarnation, Mr Dave is hoping to gain a little vengeance later on in the competition - but if he wants that far, he€™ll first have to survive his first melee, against the lifting sword of Falchion and the magnetic personality of Hammerer.
But now...the end is near. And so we face the final curtain.

Charybdis was entered by Alex Holt and is armed with a front vertical spinning disc. The robot is a box with side and rear skirts, runs on 8 inner Anarchy-style legs and the disc spins at 1000rpm

SpunOut 3.0 was entered by Tom Roper and is armed with a front horizontal spinning disc. Its box-shaped, invertible and its 6 wheels are protected by a small outer cage.

IN PTT2 (as SpunOut): it rammed its way to the Final, but was propped against the arena wall by fellow newcomer The Business Ends
The Team That Wasn€™t There was entered by Hector Gilbert and is a 5-way clusterbot. Each segment is a 4WD invertible box with a front and inverted rear wedge, a ridge at the top of each wedge for snagging other bots and enough pushing power to tackle a 100kg heavyweight!

ACTIVATE!!!!!!!!!!
SpunOut 3.0 gets the quickest start of the bunch, as The Team That Wasn€™t There quickly and efficiently starts separating!! With its disc already revving up to lethal speeds, Charybdis scuttles into the arena centre, as the Team completes the separating process...what manner of madness is about to be unleashed? :proud: With the Team members trundling merrily around the ring, SpunOut rams right into Charydbis€™ side as the walker tries to take out one part of the Team!! With its far superior traction, the No.2 seed shoves the newcomer right across the arena and smacks it into the arena wall!! However, just as the PTT2 runner-up backs away from Charybdis, two segments of the Team nip over and slide underneath SpunOut€™s side!! With their combined pushing power, the twins successfully shove the 2nd seed across the ring and right into another arena fence!! While one MORE member of the Team activates the Pit Release Button, Charybdis finds itself being circled by the other two members, just as SpunOut and the remaining pair begin a gruesome tango!! With the twins still running rings round the walker, Alex decides that enough is enough!! As SpunOut gets side-on to one of the segments and rams it across the arena, the Team member whom released the Pit heads over to join the party by Charybdis!! Suddenly, the walker scuttles round...allowing the 20kg machine to head wedge-first into the flywheel!!! Disc meets cluster piece...and the cluster piece is sent a-twirling out of control!! As Hector€™s companion tries to regain control of his stunned segment, Charybdis gives the pack member a good thwack on its side with the flywheel!!! The force sends the Team member rolling onto its back, as the two sections hounding SpunOut slide under the No.2 seed again, giving him a short, sharp trip to the arena wall again!!! With one final blast from the spinner, the battered Team member falls silent...one down, four to go!!! The Lexen armour has received dents and scrapes, and something must have been bashed about inside!!! While the now-free SpunOut another cluster piece shoved across the arena and Charybdis gets shoved side-on across the ring by the other two members, Refbot starts counting out the immobile segment!!!

With two more needing KOed before the Team can be deemed immobile, Hector is not TOO worried by this loss!! However, it has made him wearier of Charybdis and, as SpunOut gets an attack from another member of the team, the two segments ganging up on Alex€™s machine allow the fellow newcomer to scuttle away from the wall...just so the pieces can get round the side and shove the walker around some more!!! :proud: As SpunOut once again takes a Team segment on a tour around the arena, the two team members shoving Charybdis around find the perfect place to send the walker...to Matilda!!! On reaching the House Robot€™s CPZ, the two pieces back off slightly, allowing €˜Tildy to head disc-first into the side of Charybdis, trying to get free!! The flywheel hits the side of the walker and even makes the 200kg competitor €œjump€ slightly off the ground!!! :proud: However, for all its trouble, Alex€™s machine still seems OK!! Scuttling away from the CPZ, the walker trundles by SpunOut, who is sending another section across the arena, closely followed by ANOTHER section!!! This is madness!!! :proud: Wishing to end Alex€™s confusion, the other two competitors nip around to Charybdis€™ side and start shoving the PTT newcomer over towards the Pit!!! However, with the edge getting closer, the skirted box turns and whacks one of the segments on the wedge with its flywheel!!! As it tries to get a second attack on the wounded member, its partner swerves round to Charybdis€™ side and gives it a good hard shove!! As Alex€™s machine tries to get back into step (and as the No.2 seed gets shoved side-on round the arena by the two other team members :proud:), the walker€™s harassers swing round the side once more!! Just as SpunOut breaks free from another slam and starts shoving another team member across the arena (closely followed by its partner), the other two surviving segments use their combined strength to push Charybdis back down the arena...to the edge of the Pit...and in!!!

*PHEW!* Now THAT, my friends, is a long fight! Confusion all round, but it€™s Charybdis who fades into legend this time around! :proud:

Bigger Brother was entered by Karl Fletcher and is armed with a powerful gas powered flipper. It has a virtually zero ground clearance and came 2nd overall in UK Series 5.
IN PTT1: it was immobilized in Round 3 by Hypno Disc
IN PTT2: it lost a drive motor after being rammed into the wall by SpunOut in Round 3

Falchion was entered by Frank Goacher and is armed with a front horizontal lifting sword which rides along the ground. The robot is barrel-shaped with a front wedge, runs on 4 inner wheels and uses its shape to roll back onto its wheels

Hammerer was entered by Andy Jackson and is armed with a 180 degree hydraulic arm with an electromagnet on the end. The robot is box-shaped with two small front wedges (ala Dantomkia) and is capable of speeds of 8mph. (Also, the version Andy entered was the 100kg version with 2WD, not the walker)

And so, the final melee of PTT3 commences!
Bigger Brother starts off the quickest this time around, using its greater speed and manoeuvrability to weave in-between the other two competitors!! However, as the No.18 seed reaches Falchion, the PTT newcomer swings round...scraping its lifting sword underneath the RW5 runner-up!! As the blade slowly raises and tips Bigger Brother over, Hammerer trundles round to the overturned machine€™s side and slowly lowers the arm over!! However, before the hydraulic axe shaft can reach it, the No.18 seed€™s flipper suddenly fires, self-righting the machine with ease!! Back the right way up, Bigger Brother quickly dodges another €œswing€ attack from Falchion and instead nips around to the side of Hammerer!! The No.18 seed slides under the 10mm ground clearance and, with one great flip, sends the PTT newcomer over onto its back!! Just as the arm starts to slowly self-right the machine, Falchion swings its ground-hugging sword underneath Bigger Brother again!! The blade raises once again and the No.18 seed topples onto its back!! With another flip, Dave€™s entry is back in action, just as Falchion slowly tips Hammerer back onto its wheels with the sword!! Bigger Brother€™s got it tough, no doubt there!! As Frank€™s machine turns to try and scrape under the No.18 seed again, the RW5 runner-up has used its superior speed and manoeuvrability to nip around the side of the PTT newcomer!! The flipper just slides under the 3mm ground clearance and a combined flip and push rolls Falchion right over...back onto its wheels!!! :proud: As Frank€™s machine swings round once again, Hammerer takes the opportunity to ram Bigger Brother side-on with its front two wedges!! Shoving the No.18 seed into the arena wall, the arm slowly lowers in its eerie arc...down onto the RW5 runner-up!! Andy activates the electromagnet, raises the arm that little bit...and has Bigger Brother off the ground, dazed and confused!!! Swinging round, the No.18 seed under its control, Hammerer trundles down the arena and nudges Bigger Brother into the Pit Release Button!!! However, as the No.18 seed hits the tyre, Dave fires the flipper!! Combined with the hard shove given by Andy€™s machine, Bigger Brother has managed to get itself free from the magnet...and now he€™s angry!!! As Falchion heads back down the arena to help Andy out, the No.18 seed nips around to the PTT newcomer€™s side and slides under the rounded side!! One flip later and Falchion gives the audience a nice little barrel roll!!! :proud: Just as Hammerer trundles over and nudges the No.18 seed€™s side, Bigger Brother swerves away from the arm and round under Hammerer€™s side!! One flick later, and the PTT newcomer is over on its back!! The arm begins to slowly push the machine over...but Dave is after revenge!!! The No.18 seed is guided under Hammerer€™s side and Mr Sheppard shoves the newbie across the arena, pursued by the irritated Falchion!! Now smack-bang against the fence, Bigger Brother€™s flipper goes off again...now Hammerer is propped against the wall!!! Just as the wheels start trying to gain grip (and as Frank€™s machine gets ever nearer), Dave lets the No.18 seed slide under Andy€™s final entry once again!! The flipper fires...and Hammerer to toppled up, onto and over the arena barrier!!! Our final PTT3 melee has drawn to a close...with Falchion slipping under Bigger Brother and tipping it over again!!! :proud:

But before that, we have to bring the Pinball Warrior Tournament to a conclusion - and here to do that for us is Kody€™s Junkyard Maw! :proud: A newbie to our Warzone, we€™ve already seen Mr Maw go out in Round 2 this year to former champion Beta. However, the shuffler is back to gain some of its honour back - and God help those who meet the Nightmare-style disc and Toro-esque flipper arm along the way! :proud:

Ive GOT to get rid of Spunout quickly. In order to do that, Ill get the lifter tangled in the cage surrounding his robot, and prop him against the arena wall. Sorted:)
It will be a case of flipping each 20 kg part out of the arena. Remember Bigger Brothers drive can push Tornado.
Frank, get rid of SpunOut, the best place for it is against on its back.
Putting an INVERTABLE robot on its back wont help me much... Its the arena wall for him:proud:
And Bigger Brother can only push Tornado if its wedged under. Still, Ill go with the number 18 seed to toss TTTWT around like ninepins.
Predictions:
Falchion Vs SpunOut 3.0 (2): I would like to see Frank going thorugh, but I doubt it would happen because of SpunOuts superb driving skill.
Bigger Brother (18) Vs The Team That Wasn€™t There: I think that BB will flip 2 of TTTWT OOTA, but the remaining 3 will overpower it and dump it in the pit.

Nimbly shuffling out of the starting grid, Junkyard Maw heads right and over to the set of barrels in the corner!! The PTT newcomer reaches the pyramid and, with a little help from the flipping arm, sends 3 of the drums cascading to the ground!! Keeping on the move, Kody guides his machine down the arena, down to Matilda€™s patrol area!! The House Robot stands by, disc whirring angrily, but as she whirls round to give the newbie a taste of her tusks, Junkyard Maw slides under Matilda...and briskly tosses her onto her side!!! :proud: Very pleased with his work, Kody sends his machine around the toppled House Robot and gently taps the 50 Point Target!! Swinging round, Junkyard Maw leaves Matilda alone and continues down the arena...right into a charging Dead Metal!!! Not wanting him to hinder his plans, Kody activates the flipper...and casually flicks the House Robot off his front and out of the way!! Back on the run, the PTT newcomer scuttles down the arena, this time into Sir Killalot!! The Knight of the Realm tries to grab onto the flipper...but Kody€™s machine has already driven underneath the front of the House Robot!!! The flipper fires...and Sir K is flicked off the ground!!!:proud: Smacking back down on his track, the furious Knight takes a swing at Junkyard Maw...only to find that the PTT newcomer has sneaked behind the House Robot and nudged the 75 Point Target!!! :proud: Infuriated, Sir K swings round for another clash, but Kody€™s machine has already nipped away from the Knight and back into the arena!! Dodging another charge from DM, Junkyard Maw scuttles over to the other corner of the arena, to the Multi-Ball!! The shuffler nudges into the bumper and racks up 10 points as the balls cascade down to the ground!!

Just as the newcomer backs away, DM finally catches up and grabs hold of the rear, halting the spinning disc in its tracks!!

Both robots meet in the arena centre!! Although both bots can reach roughly the same speed, SpunOut 3.0 has the greater acceleration and also the greater traction, as the No.2 seed dashes straight into Falchion and slams the PTT newcomer right into the arena wall!! In an attempt to escape, Frank activates the lifting sword before SpunOut can get away again and slowly lifts the PTT2 runner-up off the arena floor!! Combined with a nice shove, Falchion quickly has SpunOut rolled onto its back, but, being invertible, this has little effect on the No.2 seed!! Just as Falchion lowers the sword for another attack, Tom reverses SpunOut right into the newcomer€™s side, before shoving it right across to the top of the arena, smack-bang into another fence!! By this time, the front spinning disc has been whirling for quite a while and is aching for something to tear into!! Wishing to satisfy, Tom turns SpunOut into Falchion€™s side and sinks the flywheel into the newbie€™s polycarbonate side!! Although quite thick at 6mm, the outer shell now sports a nasty dent from the disc teeth!! Just as SpunOut heads back for another ram, Falchion has time to whirl round and allow the No.2 seed to drive onto the lifting sword while dishing out another shove!! Quickly realising what he€™s done, Tom sends SpunOut shooting backwards, just as the blade begins to raise!! Lowering the sword again, Falchion swerves another attack from SpunOut, but as the newcomer tries to get away, the No.2 seed whirls round and strikes the side of Frank€™s machine a second time!! The rounded side receives another scar, as SpunOut reverses into the barrel-like surface, sending Falchion on another trip to see the fence!! Just as the No.2 seed prepares to back off for another ram, Falchion swings round and slips the sword underneath the 12mm ground clearance!! The blade starts rising up once again, but SpunOut€™s rear two wheels still have traction, as Frank€™s machine starts shoving the No.2 seed back!! Using that remaining traction, Tom sends his competitor into reverse and trundles off the sword before it can get high enough to send the rammer completely off the ground!! As the blade lowers once more, SpunOut re-revs the disc and swings round, this time, into Falchion€™s front!! The wedge gets a nasty dent as the No.2 seed escapes the sword, rising again!! Frank tries to get the blade back underneath his enemy, but the powerful rammer has once again gone rear-on into the PTT newcomer€™s side and is giving Falchion another ride across the arena!! With the newbie pinned side-on against the wall and the disc back at its lethal speed, SpunOut suddenly backs away!! Trying to manoeuvre itself away from the wall, Falchion turns to leave...but as it does, the No.2 seed shoots towards the side of the PTT newcomer, disc whirring menacingly!!! Frank tries to turn his machine round, in an attempt to lure SpunOut onto the blade again...but alas, Falchion proves that tad too slow!!! The No.2 seed smashes into the newbie€™s side, slices into the polycarbonate and gets both machines spun away from each other from the impact!!! Now bearing a fresh slice, Falchion tries to catch up with SpunOut...but only ends up going round in a circle!!! That last blow must have knocked something loose inside!!! While the No.2 seed performs a lap of victory round the arena, the rave but beaten Falchion spins ever-decreasing circles, as Refbot heads over to give the last rights!!!

Bigger Brother gets the quickest start, as The Team That Wasn€™t There quickly begins to split!! Too impatient to wait for all five parts to separate, the No.18 seed crashes straight into the disassembling Team with a powerful slam!! However, this has simply set more parts of the 5-way cluster free to attack!!! Just as Bigger Brother dodges a dash from one of the approaching members, all the Team associates are freed!! While one member shoots away to release the Pit, the other four keep the No.18 seed occupied with a gang onslaught!!! With two more dodges from a set of twins, a third member dashes right into Bigger Brother€™s side and smashes it into the arena wall!! We€™ve not seen a cluster with power that that here before!!! As Dave€™s machine is freed from the wall while the cluster piece backs for another charge, a familiar siren echoes across the arena!! Quickly swerving away from the Team member, Bigger Brother knows it has to end this fight and end it quickly!!! Just as another Team segment gives the No.18 seed a glancing blow, Dave whirls his last PTT competitor round and just under the side of the 20kg machine!! Seizing this little opportunity, Dave fires the flipper and throws the lightweight onto its back...but being invertible, little impact has been made from this attack!!! Suddenly, as Bigger Brother twirls round to take on a Team member heading for its rear, another pair of passive pests charges into the side of the No.18 seed!!! Dave tries to get his machine free, but a third Team member joins the shoving match and makes sure that Bigger Brother isn€™t going anywhere...except in the direction of the Pit!!! Dave fires the flipper in desperation, trying to use the force to €œjump€ away from the Team€™s trio!! However, all he seems to have done is wasted CO2!!! One last great shove is dealt from the three Team members and the No.18 seed tumbles into the Pit - another victim of gang warfare!!!
