Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
5ampx50C = 250a
Normally packs have a continuous C rating and a burst C....
I'd suggest a 125a auto style fuse... That'll take 250a for a while.
The FRA need to put in place a rule set for people to choose fuses... If you had a 250max burst lipo, and a 250a fuse... You'd never get the fuse to blow before the lipo.

Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
I have never heard of a auto style fuse, nor do I know were to get one.
Oh and I forgot to give the dimensions of the robot. it's 14.50 inches wide, 11 inches long and 2.64 inches tall.

Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
They are on technobots listed under automotive fuses I think
-
Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
Seems like they only go up to 100A and no fusebox that exist for this type of fuse.
It may just be easer to have a 35-40c version of the Lipo that can work with a 100a auto style fuse.

There is a fuse holder for it, I imagine you can get bigger fuses from eBay or car shops?

Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
I know about those fuse holder's. But don't I need a fuse holder that can hold two? or maybe get two single one's and connect them together with a Terminal block.
I don't know I'm just throwing ideas at the wall.

Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
I have an idea. Can you have two single auto style fuse work together on the same positive wire or am I being silly?
-
Re: Mr.Purple (FW)
An 'Auto' fuse' is just one used in automotives, also known as blade fuses or car fuses. Dirt cheap on eBay.
100a is easy to find, and should be ample (pink in colour I believe), even at 100a and just over it'll take a few seconds before it blows.
If you put 2 fuses in parallel then you'll effectively double the amperage before they'll blow, but that's just more things to go wrong!
I solder and heat shrink my wires clean onto my fuses, one less point of weakness. If they blow it's a pain to change, but fusing appropriately should avoid that.

Update
Did a little bit of cutting up the mild steel. I'll do more at the weekend.
So this is what it looks like so far.

At this point with all the components in, it weights 8.2KG.
