Yyes, a trick used quite often by forum offenders... this friend doesnt exists, does he?
Now for something else Ruark, an open question, did you design a vapourbot, and search for someone elses picture to go with it, or did you find a picture FIRST and THEN do the stats?
I ask this because when looking at that axe-bot, Zombie, the stats PERFECTLY describe the picture, someone elses picture mind you. Even though the picture is deleted from the side, the text that goes with it should still be considered theft in my eyes and therefor should be edited.

ok bro my mistake umm i just like those cads umm anyways is it ok if i keep them on ur site and also if its ok with u kody to make me a cad but i do have a friend that does CADs to and i have them but dont have a scanner oh i ask Martijn= to do a cad but he didnt do it ive ask him lastweek and still he didnt get it so i search for CADs and borrowed them etc but i wanna keep Stay alive and my Revenge of the Zombies CAD on ur site
Ok, what I told you over msn is that once you have a robot with stats good enough to be approved by the How could I improve... thread, and also good enough for me to tell what the robot looks like, then Ill be more than happy to do a CAD. Talk to me over msn sometime soon so we can see if one of your robots fits that description .

How Could I Improve...
yes he is bro he is real why should tell a lie he is a pro at making CADs like cody he wants to join FRA and its very soon he is a roboteer like some of guys he builds heavyweight and superheavyweights and he enter them in a tournament

well... you lied when you send Kody and me those CADs you stole... :lame:
for the record Ruark, Im still more than happy to do you a CAD but for that I first need you to get your stats straight, mkay?

Is it possible to power a robots drive with the kinetic energy from a disc?
-
How Could I Improve...
Aaron does it on Infusion...I wouldnt use it as the primary drive power though, youd have to stop all the time to let it spin up again. Perhaps as a power boost?
-
How Could I Improve...
It is of course possible, but i fail to see any real advantage.
The disc would work as a high torque motor which means you would need a serious clutch, differential and gearing for it, and as soon as you hit something you stop yourself as well. plus any energy you take away from the disc for drive is not transferred into the opponent, making the disc less effective.

Setting up the weapon and drive on the same system is not beneficial, but if your able to transfer power from one to the other effectively, you can get some temporary gain. Weve all seen the monumental flips produced by Warrior SKF, flips that rival those of the big CO2 flippers like Gravity, plus it still has an effect spinning rim as a weapon...
To me, its like two weapons for the cost of 1.5 :proud:

How Could I Improve...
Cobalt
Shape - Mostly a shallow wedge with a small box section at the rear.
Speed - 16 MPH
Dimensions(lwh): 70CM X 45 CM X 20 CM
Armour - 4 mm Hardox for the top, 5 mm for the sides and 5 mm Grade 5 Ti for the base.
GC - 3 CMs at the very rear, going down to 0 at the front, assisted by a sharpened wedge extender allowing it to slide under the lowest ground clearance.
Weapon 1 - The wedge.
Weapon 2 - A flat disc of doom style flywheel on the front wedge. Robots get thrown off after having their bases and wheels shredded. The disc is run on a Lem-130 on 24 volts and spins at 500 RPM.
Drive - Two wheel drive, with the wheels positioned at the very rear of the machine and castors around the middle to provide stability. This is powered by two S28-400 Magmotors on 24 volts.
Srimech - A lifting bar/plate made of 5 MM Grade 5 Ti/V. This not only self rights the robot, but also gives the disc some protection from axe attacks. The base bar is curved so it avoids hitting the disc. This is powered by a LEM-130 on 24 volts.

Ill assume the disc has teeth and blades of some sort on it?

How Could I Improve...
hi, what is the RPM of a perm 132 spinning a 15kg weapon
-
How Could I Improve...
Depends on the voltage and the gearing. I dont know the top speed of a Perm, but whatever that is, thats the highest speed youll get. More gears in the gearbox = less speed.
-
How Could I Improve...
Having the weapon driven as fast as is possible isnt necessarily the best solution though. The faster it is, the longer it takes to get to a level where it can do any damage, and the weaker it will be at lower speeds.
Also, that motor will require at least its weight in batteries to last a full match.
-
How Could I Improve...
Oh, and by the way Joeys right, I forgot to add teeth. *gives Kody something for his cough*
-
How Could I Improve...
well how cani i get the most kj out of a 15KG weapon?
-
How Could I Improve...
Simply, you need to spin it at as fast a speed as possible, but what needs to be remembered is that if you geared your weapon to a very high ratio (IE: 1:3 (every 1 turn of the motor is 3 of the weapon), then it will take a lot of torque and a long time to get it going. My recommendation is you gear it down, it may be slightly slower but its easier to get spinning in the first place.
After a little research, a Perm 132 on 48v gives you 2300RPM, and since Perms are quite torquey, that will need little gearing, perhaps a 2:1 ratio. The actual KJ output, Id need to know the dimensions of the weapon (IE: what shape it is, how much of that 15kg is on the outside of the weapon.
If you can give me that info ben I can work out your weapons KJ output for you

How Could I Improve...
4 arms that are 55 cm long leading to a 2.5 kg hammer on each arm
-
How Could I Improve...
Ben, it is really unlikely you would get a system like that in 15kg. the hammers alone would take up 10kg, so you would only have 5kg left for the arms and pivot point. And you would need to brace the arms as well or they would just bend at impact.

How Could I Improve...
Here are the stats on Twister Evo my first vapour
Shape: Circular, with optional skirts
Colour: Yellow for the body, grey for the wedge, blue for the main section of the arms, red for the small angled sections of the arms and black for the 3 KG hammers
Speed: 10MPH
Weight: 100KG
Armour 5MM Hardox, skirts are 6MM Hardox
Chassis: 4MM steel box section
Drive: 2 NPC 1200s @ 36V
Power: 4 36V NiCad battlepacks
Locomotion: 2 aluminium wheels with vulkalon treads, 5CM in diameter and 3CM in width, with 2 front casters, all wheels are partially inside the body
Ground Clearance: 2MM without skirts, 0MM with skirts, 0mm at front and sides of wedge
Turning Circle: Zero thanks to 2 front casters
Size: Bodys diameter is 45CM, main part of wedge is 20CM wide and 40Cm long, side parts of wedge are 10CM wide at widest point
Weaponry: 4 55cm arms of which 5 cm just before the hammer is angled at 30 degrees leading to a 3KG hammer on each arm powered by 2 LEM 130s, plus a complicated gray fur-covered wedge to scoop up opponents, the fur is to hopefully either trap the opponent or provide a spectacular fire show
Srimech: May self-right when it spins upside down
Strengths: Will do damage to anything it touches, strong armour
Weaknesses: May not self-right, battery life may be short
Entry Song: Jumping all over the world by Scooter
Picture: On my proflie page

Ben. Quite honostly, those stats are not bad at all. But you have entered the pitfall most vapourboteers that start have fallen into, you keep your robot way to small. 4 motors, 4 battlepacks (which is to litte I would suggest 6), all the mechanics and the wheels, all take up space you dont have in a 45cm diameter robot. I have a featherweight that big.

i will improve the body to 75cm and the arms to 85cm

How Could I Improve...
No no no, the arms are way too big, and the body still seems a little small to me...and you dont even give a height. :proud:

How Could I Improve...
fine arms are 92 body is 90 and it is 15cm tall

How Could I Improve...
Well one thing from the start, a Red Square type weapon will not work with a 5mm Ti bar. You would need at least 2cm thickness to achieve the tension needed (and i do stress at least). I believe Red Squares flipper bar was 1 inch (2.54cm) thick.
What do you use as a winch?

I tell you to make it smaller, QUITE clearly...and you make it bigger.
I can see where my advice is going. :lame:

they have to be half the size of the body my bad
so they are 46

How Could I Improve...
Dont the arms have to be bigger than the body so he can hit things with them?
-
How Could I Improve...
Looking at the stats, Joey, I believe the arms are attached to the side of the body...

How Could I Improve...
Thats 46cm from the center
-
How Could I Improve...
1cm reach? That might not be enough...Id increase it to at least 50cm.
Spinners are generally buggers to design because of the extra info you need to provide - you need things ike weight, how it stops itself self destructing, kilojoule count, etc. and it might be easier to do a rammer or similar as your first vapour, if youre not familiar with vapourbot stats.
-
How Could I Improve...
Joey pretty much summed it all up. Start with a rammer, theyre much simpler and easier to do than spinners.
-
How Could I Improve...
okay stats on a rammer up soon
-
How Could I Improve...
Really, Ben, take your time when coming up with stats. You might want to decide what parts are best, what armour, wheels, motors, etc. Do some more research, as it will better your stat-making skills. :)
