They did accept other teams building spinners, including those from scratch. I know of one that went together in about five weeks and gave a good account of itself. It just came down to whether or not your robot was interesting enough for TV and whether they already filled their quotas for particular weapon types.

Mine was the same as carbide and ironside so I suppose they didn't want 3 the same , shame I got the impression it was all great and then was told it wasn't what they were looking for after I had all the bits to build it. They're all sold now anyway as I have enough robot crap piled up everywhere.

I understand that there as a quota for every weapon type so I guess once its filled they would not accept any more.
If there is another competition, there will be more episodes and so more robots required....
