Re: 2011 Robo Challenge UK Championships. April 15-17, NEC
Has anyone got the video of the boner vs beauty 4 fight? I personally think it was the right decision as jonno definitely had control over the fight, always going for boner but took the most damage but was still running perfect.
Would be interesting to see a video of this fight?

It was Bitza Jamie that was running on one wheel and got 2 points. Just to add to the can of worms we dropped Bitza in the arena with only one wheel working, so it's wasn't due to our competitors that it stopped, the robot was crap from the start!

Also just to add to those points about the pit and walls:
To avoid similar issues in the Annihilator in the future, how about making that competition a pit-free environment? It's all about the last robot standing/the first robot to be defeated by its opponents, and having one round being over in ten seconds because the pit got opened and a robot randomly ricocheted into it is pretty lame. Ruling out use of the pit will make that event much more hardcore and more what the Annihilator should be about. It would also mean you wouldn't have the issue with the judging and what technically counts as being in the pit/not in the pit.
And yeah, higher arena walls would be better :)
It's currently a help for flippers and a hindrance for spinners in terms of remaining in the active fighting zone; higher walls would perhaps give more of a 50-50 split in terms of advantage. Admittedly, some flippers and spinners are so powerful that higher walls wouldn't make much of a difference but it might lead to matches being a bit more interesting than one-flip or one-hit wonders.
P.S. John, I've got that fight on video. May take me a wee while to get them up, but I'll post a link once it is.

Ahh, thought it might have been PJ, but wasn't too sure!
Nothing against your robot or your efforts in the arena by the way :)
Just confused by the controlled translation situation and your battle was an ideal example.

I seem to remember another robot who entered the arena with only one wheel working and still getting 2 points, don't you Jamie?

I actually completely forgot about that! Another prime example then, I should've been counted out after 30 seconds as I was unable to move across the arena floor in a controlled manner. Must've been my uber-spinning that bumped up the style section of my judging card to get the points 8)
Re: 2011 Robo Challenge UK Championships. April 15-17, NEC
I agree with the idea of higher walls because its so low that Explosion fliped its self out within a cople of seconds of the fight!
Re: 2011 Robo Challenge UK Championships. April 15-17, NEC
Haha, that was awesome! I havn't the foggiest how you managed that....

LS4 had the coolest arena exit against Inertia XL.
