Presenting; the next machine in the No Objections line, containing another of my crackpot ideas. (Im open to name ideas; was going to call it No Apologies before I realised it was taken)
WEIGHT: 110kgs
DIMENSIONS: 150 x 135 x 15 cm
SHAPE: A low dome type shape; the actual dome is 135cm diameter; to my knowledge the largest vapour out there
COLOUR: Yellow, with a yellow and black striped lifter with red forks, and stylised black arrowheads on each side. The spinner rim is metal-coloured with red teeth
DRIVE: 2 S28-400 Magmotors running at 24v from 6 NiCad packs, driving two inner custom built 5cm wide/90cm long Vulkalon/Kevlar belt tracks; however these are designed such that the two idler sprockets (either side of the drive sprocket) are raised 5mm off the ground, so normally (due to weight distribution) the robot only rests on the bit of track below the drive sprockets, giving it excellent maneuvrability; however when pushed (or hitting someone with the spinner) the robot rocks slightly and a larger part of the track comes into contact with the ground, giving it more grip and helping it stay in place. (as always, if my powers of description are inadequate I shall draw a diagram)
SPEED: 14mph average, 20mph max
GROUND CLEARANCE: 7mm all around; the blades reach about 1mm below this
ARMOUR: 5mm aluminium baseplate, with a 7mm HDPE curved top panel supported from a Hardox chassis with 3mm Ti/Vanadium alloy beneath.
WEAPONS: Main weapon is the 12mm thick outer Hardox ring spinner, which makes up the bottom 2cm or so of the body of the robot. This outer ring is driven by two S28-400 Magmotors run at 24v, but with the timing on the motors adjusted so they run faster in one direction, making the ring faster. It weighs about 20kgs and has four S7 hardened tool steel teeth on it, extending about 5cm out, and it spins at 2000rpm giving out about 50kj per hit.
However, the effect of this can be increased if the robot itself spins on the spot, which increases the energy to around 80kj.
The other weapon is the Hardox-reinforced lifting arm, which runs from a 1 tonne linear actuator and runs the entire length of the robot, hinged at the rear, but also extends out over the front of the spinner before touching the ground, allowing the blades of the spinner to pass beneath it when down. The lifter can lift about 200kgs easily at the tip and extends to almost vertical in about two seconds.
SRIMECH: The lifter
NOTES: Internal components shockproofed to protect it from its own and other peoples spinner hits.
STRENGTHS: Large area of attack, maneuvrable, versatile, good pusher as well as damaging
WEAKNESSES: Large area to attack; vulnerable to axes
Do your nit-pickyest worst :proud:
Call it No Regrets
Nah, call it Unobjectionable :proud:
Seriously, I cant see much wrong with it other than maybe the ring being a little overweight. Cut it down to about 8mm Hardox and itll be fine. :)
Paul: I am not naming any of my machines after a Robbie Williams song, sorry :P
Kody: Right...I was more worried about my tracks idea being non-functional for some reason, or people noticing I BSed the kilojoule numbers :proud:
Would 8mm be strong enough for high-energy spinning applications?
Id say so. :)
Right...*goes over to Zlaying Every Day board*
Incidentally, I messed around on Google for a bit, and the new name for it is No Exceptions :proud:
Haha.
But Paul still hasnt done anything reasonable with Nitro-Gene 5.0, and Id like to see him do that. :P
I have done something reasonable to Nitro-Gene - I had to start all over again, and Ive reduced weight, not added too much on, and Ive also reinforced the chassis with the rubber shock-proofing, made it taller to make the dimensions realistic and gone back to the 6 wheel set-out to improve power and traction in a straight line, and Ive also maximised grip in turning.
And Ive also improved MeCannibal so its no longer got power unheard-of-except-with-tourneys-with-MDU-in-them
By the way Joey, I didnt know that No Regrets was a song by Robbie Williams, as it wasnt on my Robbie Williams album
No, Paul, the armour is the main issue. Thin it down to 3.25mm Hardox, remove two of the LEM130s, or look to titanium, but theres no way your going to fit all that into 100kg.
EDIT: Also the motors will make you overweight: not by themselves, but because of the batteries. I know what Im talking about. Take for instance 4 LEM130s @ 36v. Those require about 3 NiCad Battlepacks each, and those weigh about 1.8kg. So you are looking at about 20kg of batteries alone, and combined with the motors, thats 30kg. Combine that with your 6mm Hardox armour (density is akin that of steel, which is 7750kg/m cubed) and youre overweight as it is.

Kody: finally someone who understands why battery stats are important. :)
Well, Leo, considering with no batteries Id have a classic 80kg heavyweight without the ability to move... :)
Is this vapour OK?

Liam: LINKING FAIL
Expand the dimensions a little. :)
And yeah, the link is phail. :P

Strange...
Say how close to the ground the heads are. Because it might end up being like Choppers weapon that could barely hit anything from what I recall :P
Or Son of Whyachi, who went AWOL in Season 4 of Battlebots. :P
Guys tell me wat u guys think about the new Predator 2

Yes, its top secret. Its not for the tournament Im doing after...wait, there is no tournament. I am never doing another tournament, an certainly wont be doing a classic heavyweight one after I finish the Chevron...damn.
Right, listen. You never heard any of that, and if you read it you have temporary amnesia. You shall never speak of this again. Understand? :)
As for those robots, I cant see anything majorly wrong with them, so its very possible theyre in weight.
*copies the words down for Joey to hear later* :)
Some classics coming up. Time for Fangorodrim to come out of retirement... :proud:
But until then, I shall bring another golden oldie out of retirement...the silver medallist of PTT3 Pinball. :proud:
Junkyard Mawler (previously Junkyard Maw)
Shape: Steep box wedge with sloping rear (and rear skirt) and pointed sides. Has spines on the sides as well.
Colour: Dark brown.
Speed: 15mph average; 22mph top speed
Weight: 80kg

Dimensions in CM (LxWxH): 90 x 65 x 30
Weaponry: A rear-hinged flipper powered by a 2.5kg CO2 tank and 80mm ram. Its got about 30 flips in the canister and is enough to toss a bot of equal size about 4 feet into the air. Its powerful but not overkill. On top of the flipper are two stationary Hardox claws shaped like curved teeth so that opponents dont run straight over the wedge.
Srimech: Flipper
Strengths: Fast, powerful, tough. A good all-rounder basically.
Notes: Redesign of a VERY old 100kg vapourbot. CAD coming soon.

It has wheels 7mm in diameter? :P
And I hate to say it, but Id have to be convinced that 18mm Ti and lexan wont put it overweight...
EDIT: Misread stats, but still, 9mm Ti is borderline...
(Message edited by joeychevron on June 08, 2008)
No silly, thats what the wheels are made of, not the diameter. The diameter is 150mm. :P
And fine. The titanium is now 7mm. :P
OMG, its awesome! I really like the shape on it, kinda like NG5.0 (but in weight :proud:)
Very funny Liam :proud: By the way, Ive done all I can with Nitro-Gene 5.0, and I THINK its in weight, but if someone cuold do a weight check, its just I dont know about things like weight, I just focus on how tough everything is, so if someone could do a weight check to help me, that would help...obviously :proud:
Right, bearing in mind Im not 100% sure on this:
Drive train (4 LEMs + batteries, chains wheels, etc.): 35 kg ish
Chassis (you said above there was a seperate chassis, so this is ignoring the whole monocoque confusion): 15kg at least
Armour: I calculated this somewhat properly (assuming a 2x1m 5mm Hardox sheet for the whole body, which is about right taking into account the sides and angles) and it came out as 78.5kg by itself. (see http://www.matweb.com/tools/weightcalculator.aspxhttp://www.matweb.com/tools/weightcalculator.aspx )
Weaponry: Id guess at least 25kg for the entire weapon setup, including rams, tanks, valves, piping, stored gas, etc.
Miscellaneous: 10kg
Total: 163.5kgs
Im pretty sure Jim Struts weighed less than that :P
The above would indicate that there is a severe problem with most of everyones vapours though, so I wouldnt take it as gospel.
Where are NG5.0s stats?
i need ur help (anyone) i have a vapour (houseRobot) named Dark Predator 2 is a scorpion(not from Robotwars) here is a pic of it got it from a site http://www.seibertron.com/.../1118757723_scorpion.jpgwww.seibertron.com/.../1118757723_scorpion.jpg
pls help
Ruark, there are dots in that link so that will not work.
Ive already found NG5.0s stats btw.

...its not exactly realistic...
Can anyone tell me how much LEM-170s weigh, approximately how large they are and how much power they produce?
http://www.lemcoltd.com/lem_170.htmhttp://www.lemcoltd.com/lem_170.htm
How can you get horsepower from all that?
Uh...to be completely honest, I dont really look at horsepower when deciding how fights should be written...probably somewhere in between a 130 and a 200 :P
I am actually not that impressed with the specs of this motor. The Torque is quite high, but the power output is 7KW on 48V, which is very little (10 hp).
